'We're going to look for Clarke, Finn and Myles, you in?'

Brinley looked up at the owner of the voice, finding Monty standing in front of her, looking at her curiously. 'You okay?'

'Yeah, yeah I'm good. Of course I'm in.' Brinley stood up, dusting her pants off as she did.

'You sure?' Monty frowned, noticing the wild look in her eyes and her downturned mouth.

'I'm positive, Monty. Who else is coming?'

'Octavia, Raven and Bellamy.'

Brinley schooled her expression into a neutral one with some effort. 'Alright.'

'Here. Raven finished the walkies.' Brinley took the walkie from Monty, following him out of the drop ship and out to the front gate. Brinley tensed slightly, seeing Bellamy, but she carefully avoided standing near him, and she refused to meet the gaze she could feel burning into her head.

'We'll split off, but stay close. No arguments.' Bellamy ordered.

The five made their way out and around camp, watching their surrounding's carefully. Brinley stuck closer to Monty than anyone else, ignoring the look Octavia gave her as she did so.

'Do you think we'll find them?' Monty whispered to her.

Brinley pursed her lips. 'We will. Whether they'll be alive is a different story.' She muttered back darkly.

'Can you see the others?' Brinley called out to Monty.

'No, hold on.'

Brinley heard static crackle through her walkie. 'I thought you said you were heading west, where are you?'

It was Bellamy who answered. 'Just keep the moon on your left, and you'll find us.'

Brinley looked down at the walkie in her hand as it began emitting a strange noise.

'Is anyone else hearing this signal?' Monty's voice crackled through the static again and Brinley looked up, seeing him on the opposite side of her, looking at the walkie in his hand.

'Just keep your eyes open.' Raven's sharp voice came through.

'I think it's the same thing we heard in the black box-' Monty tried to explain.

'Dammit Monty, pay attention. Do you see anything?'

Brinley almost made a snarky comment at Bellamy. Almost.

Brinley waited for Monty's reply, but it didn't come.

'Report.' Bellamy commanded.

There was a high-pitched sound and Brinley heard a slight thump that came from somewhere near her.

'Monty?' She hissed into the darkness, her eyes searching warily.

'There's someone in the bushes.'

Brinley ignored Raven's warning, still trying to catch sight of her friend. 'Monty? Where did you go?'

Silence was her answer.

'Monty, Brinley we're heading home. You copy?'

Brinley ignored the feeling Bellamy's voice gave her as she snuck towards the place she'd last seen Monty, fearing what the loud thump she had heard meant. 'Mon?'

He heart dropped at what she found. Monty's radio was still crackling with static lying amongst the natural debris on the ground, but Monty himself was nowhere to be seen.

'Monty, can you hear me?' Bellamy's tone changed into something more serious.

'Monty, Brinley where the hell are you?' Bellamy sounded slightly panicked now. 'Report, Monty!'

Brinley noticed her hand shaking as she leant down to pick up the walkie. She clicked the switch into place. 'I think we have a problem.' She breathed, her voice wavering slightly.

'Brinley, where are you? What happened? Why isn't Monty answering?' Bellamy sounded both relieved and worried.

Brinley tried to swallow her fear for Monty's well being as she spoke. 'I just found his walkie. Monty's not here, he's gone. I think – I think someone took him.' Her voice wavered slightly.

Octavia looked at her brother, fear in her expression. 'We have to get out of here.'

Bellamy nodded. 'I know, O.'

Brinley's hands were still shaking as she quietly searched for any sign of her dark haired friend. 'Monty?'

'Brinley where are you?' Bellamy's voice crackled through the small speaker.

'I – Where are you guys, I'll come to you.'

'Trace back to where we came from, I'll come find you.'

'No don't. I'll be fine.' Brinley forced herself to be strong. To be the girl that landed on earth in the dropship, not the soft, emotional person she was becoming.

Bellamy sighed heavily and Raven looked up from where she was searching for strong enough branches to hold Myles, to watch her leader as he ran a hand through his hair, looking stressed.

'Don't be stupid. You'll end up getting yourself killed.' Bellamy spoke into his walkie.

'That'd be one less problem for you to worry about then.' Brinley appeared behind Bellamy, catching sight of Myles and Octavia crouched beside him. 'Holy shit.'

'He said Finn and Clarke were taken by grounders.' Octavia informed her friend quietly.

Brinley sucked in a sharp breath. 'No.'

Octavia nodded. 'Do you think they took Monty too? I mean-'

'No.' Brinley shook her head. 'This was something different, this wasn't grounders.'

'How are you so sure?'

'I-' Brinley started but Bellamy cut her off.

'We'll discuss it back at camp, now c'mon, we need to get out of these damn woods.'

*****

Bellamy, Octavia, Raven and Brinley were congregated on the bottom level of the drop ship where Clarke had set up a type of sickbay. Without Clarke, Brinley was the closest thing they had to a doctor and nurse so she set about patching Myles up as best she could.

'Do you need help?' Octavia asked as Myles continued to groan in pain from the arrows embedded in his shoulder and chest.

'You can hold him down if you like. It's gonna hurt.'

Bellamy was the first to move, followed by Raven and Octavia. The three held the boy down as Brinley spoke to his half conscious form. 'You ready?'

'As I'll ever-' The boy's words cut off with a yell as Brinley yanked the arrow in his shoulder out with no warning. 'What, no countdown?' The boy questioned.

'Nah, believe it or not that makes it worse.' With those words she snapped most of the second arrow, placing the two pieces away from any wandering hands. 'I have to leave the arrowhead in until Clarke gets back.'

Brinley poured some of Monty's moonshine over the entry wounds, cleaning away the dirt and blood that had settled there. 'Well you don't need stitches on this one so that's lucky. You'll need bandaging up though. Try not to move too much.'

Octavia caught Brinley's eye and she nodded as she began tearing up strips of cloth, handing them to Brinley who expertly tied them in place. 'Let someone know if the blood starts soaking through, alright?' Myles nodded and Brinley took pity on the kid, handing him some poison sumac petals. 'These will keep you calm.'

Myles nodded and did what she said; chewing the petals by the handful, and it wasn't long until his body relaxed, allowing itself to sleep.

'So this is what you would have been like if you weren't locked up.' Octavia smirked at Brinley. 'You and Clarke would have been best buds for life, saving lives and what not.'

Brinley snickered. 'Too bad I just wasn't that way inclined, much to my Dad's disappointment.' Brinley frowned, thinking of her Father, guilt twisting her insides.

Octavia noticed her expression. 'Okay, so what happened with Monty?'

Bellamy and Raven looked to her and she swallowed. 'I can't be sure. There was a weird signal and frequency coming through the walkies, and Monty disappeared for a second, just one second. I went to go follow him but there was a loud thump, like someone falling over or dropping something. When I did get over there Monty's walkie was there and he was gone.'

Bellamy frowned. 'Could be grounders?'

'They took Clarke and Finn, it's possible.' Raven admitted.

But Brinley was shaking her head. 'If it were grounders, they'd have taken me or you would have found my bloody corpse hanging from a tree.' Raven, Bellamy and Octavia visibly tensed at the graphic images Brinley put into their heads. 'Whoever-whatever took Monty, they were stealthy. Quick and quiet. Grounders wouldn't have been.'

'So we have no idea what we're dealing with or where Monty is, great.'

'That's all I know.' Brinley ignored Raven's sarcastic comment.

'So you don't know anything useful, basically.' Raven growled out. 'Real helpful.'

Brinley's expression darkened. 'Look, I know you're upset about Finn but-'

'Don't. Don't talk about him.' Raven snapped.

'Raven, I understand-'

'Do you? Because I don't think you do.' Raven got up in Brinley's face and Bellamy immediately went to separate them, but Octavia stopped him by tugging him back by his sleeve lightly, wanting to see what came out between the two girls.

Brinley laughed in Raven's face. 'You think you're the only person here whose lost someone? Try again, sweetheart.' Brinley mocked and Bellamy's eyebrows rose in surprise at the familiar tone and nickname she'd adopted.

'Finn is all I have left, if I lost him-'

'You'd, what?' A sweet smile covered Brinley's face and to anyone who didn't know better, she'd look like someone who was genuinely interested in what Raven had to say.

'You'd crawl into bed with someone else to make yourself feel better? Try and forget for a little while and then end up projecting your anger onto someone else? ' Brinley laughed and the sound was like razor blades. 'Sorry to burst your bubble Raven, but that's exactly what you're doing right now.' Brinley shoved Raven away from her, not hard enough to hurt her but hard enough to move her back a few feet.

Raven stood there; slack jawed and unable to form a comeback to Brinley's comment.

Brinley rolled her eyes. 'Whatever.'

Octavia punched her brother in the arm as Brinley left the dropship. 'I told you so.'

Bellamy watched Octavia leave, hurrying out after Brinley. Raven's shock had worn off and she moved closer to Bellamy. 'You told me you weren't seeing anyone.'

'I'm not.' Bellamy had crossed his arms.

'Are you sure about that? Because Brinley seems pretty upset.' Raven challenged the dark haired man.

Bellamy stayed quiet, ignoring the pang in his chest as Raven confirmed what Octavia had told him, Brinley was upset with him.

'Piece of advice, go for it while you still can, otherwise you'll end up angry and bitter like me.'

*****

'Clarke, Finn and Monty are gone, probably dead. And if you want to be next I can't stop you, but no guns are leaving this camp! This camp is the only thing keeping us alive! Get back to work!'

'I'm getting real tired of all these speeches.'

Brinley looked at Murphy who was watching Bellamy storm away with a flat expression.

'Isn't everyone?' Brinley commented dryly. 'Clarke, Finn and Monty aren't dead. He has no right to tell everyone that they are.'

'He might be right, Brin.'

Brinley shook her head at her friend. 'No. I refuse to believe that. You survived against all odds, I have to believe that they can too.'

'Bellamy's a dick.'

Brinley snorted. 'Are you just figuring that out?'

'Someone needs to show him he can't control all of us. Actions have consequences.'

Brinley looked up at Murphy. 'Please tell me you aren't planning to do something stupid that'll piss off Bellamy...'

Murphy laughed at her. 'No, don't worry. He isn't the only one in this camp who has to answer for their mistakes.'

Brinley chose not to comment on Murphy's malicious comment. Instead she changed the subject. 'I should probably go check on Myles.'

'Go do your thing Doctor Kane.' Murphy sneered, a smirk on his face.

Brinley punched his arm. 'Go screw yourself Murphy.'

*****

Brinley almost turned and left the dropship as she noticed Bellamy seeming to plan out battle strategy against the far wall. He glanced at her as she walked in but for the most part they ignored each other.

Myles had started stirring, making small noises of pain as he tried to move. 'Hey. Don't move you'll make it worse.'

'Hurts.' Myles croaked out.

'Yeah, well I'd be worried if it didn't hurt.'

Brinley peeled back the blood soaked bandages her face falling at the angry purple wound underneath. 'Fuck.' She breathed.

Myles drooping eyelids flew open in panic. 'What? What's wrong.'

'Nothing, nothing. It's just, bleeding more than I'd like. I'll go get more bandages okay?'

Myles seemed to calm down as he nodded at her, trying to keep as still as possible.

Brinley made her way to the pile of cloth they were using for bandages, which happened to be on the same bench Bellamy was working at. Bellamy, having heard her cuss stepped closer to her, so Myles wouldn't hear their quiet conversation.

'What's wrong with him?'

Brinley kept her head down, busying her hands with finding the right sized bandage. 'Looks like blood poisoning.'

'Can you fix it?' Bellamy was standing so close their shoulders were touching.

'Not me, and not without Clarke. She knows more about medicine than I do.' Brinley admitted.

'Brinley-'

'I know you think Clarke, Finn and Monty are dead. But I don't.' Brinley's voice was hard.

'I hope you're right.' Bellamy admitted quietly. 'Hey, about earlier –'

'What about it?'

'Octavia thinks you were, I don't know, upset? About seeing Raven leaving my tent...' Bellamy swallowed down his nerves 'That true?'

Brinley tensed. 'Octavia's gave you a lecture about admitting your feelings too, didn't she?'

Bellamy didn't answer.

'Look, despite whatever idea Octavia has put into your head, I don't care. If you want to sleep with every girl in this camp then fine, go ahead. That's your business not mine.'

'It was a mistake.' Bellamy admitted, feeling a desperate need to try and make her understand that it didn't mean anything to him or Raven. 'It didn't mean anything.'

'How many girls have you said that to since we landed down here?' Brinley scoffed.

'They know what they're in for.' Bellamy rolled his eyes at her judgement.

'Oh, so not one of them has assumed it was more than just a one time thing?'

Bellamy didn't answer and Brinley knew she had him. 'Mistakes generally only happen once. What you're describing right there Bellamy, is a habit.'

'I-'

Jasper entered the drop ship, interrupting whatever Bellamy had been about to say. Jasper just stared at Bellamy as Brinley slowly backed away from him, going back to Myles, replacing the old bandage with a new one.

'Don't you think I want to go after them to?'

Brinley looked up as Bellamy spoke to Jasper.

Jasper looked upset, and once Brinley had made sure Myles was okay - as okay as he could be - she went and stood beside her friend. 'If it was you out there, you think Monty, Clarke or Finn would hide behind these walls?'

'No.' Bellamy admitted. 'They'd go after me and then they'd be dead too. I am doing what I think it right for the group.'

Jasper shook his head and Brinley gripped his arm, looking at him sadly.

'It's funny, you didn't think that way when Octavia went missing.'

Brinley nodded her head at Jasper's words. He had a point, Bellamy had led them all out of camp in pitch-black darkness to find Octavia, and now he was making no moves to locate their missing friends.

Jasper put his gun on one of the tables. 'Jas, what are you-'

'Where are you going?' Bellamy spoke after Brinley.

'More gunpowder for your minefield, sir.' Jasper sarcastically saluted Bellamy as he climbed up the ladder to the next level of the drop ship.

Bellamy watched him go, a conflicted expression on his face.

'Water, please.' Myles gasped out.

Bellamy glanced at Brinley. 'I'll get you some.'

Brinley stayed in the dropship, looking up as Sterling stuck his head in. 'Hey, Brinley? Murphy's looking for you. He's waiting out by the gate.'

Brinley nodded. 'Thanks, Sterling.'

Sterling nodded as he left. Brinley stared up at the hatch above her head. She sighed.

'Sorry Murphy, you'll have to wait a little longer.'

*****

Jasper glanced up as Brinley climbed up the ladder. 'Hey, you need something.'

'Jasper, we're going to find them.'

Jasper sighed as he poured some of the gunpowder into a container. 'We won't find them if we can't leave the camp.'

'Jas look, Bellamy's only trying to keep everyone safe-'

'Are you seriously defending him?'

'Let me finish.' Brinley growled out. 'He's going about it the wrong way by leaving them out there and if he hasn't changed his mind in a few hours, I'll steal us some guns and we'll go look ourselves.'

'You'd do that? Even if Bellamy banishes you for it?'

Brinley shrugged. 'It's a risk I'll take. They're my friends too. I –'

Brinley was cut off as Jasper hugged her. 'Thank you.'

She hugged the skinny boy back. 'Have a little faith.'

Jasper snickered. 'I should get this to Raven.' He gestured to the container.

'You do that.' Brinley smiled at him as he left, searching for a spare blanket to give to Myles. If she was right and he had blood poisoning, he'd need the warmth.

It was only a minute later that Brinley heard Jasper's voice drift up through the floor and she stopped searching. 'Murphy, put the gun down.'

Fuck.

Brinley hurried into action, sliding down the ladder so quickly that all Murphy saw was someone else appear as he trained the gun on her.

Brinley's eyes widened. 'Murphy, what are you doing?'

Murphy, upon realising it was her, shifted the gun back to Jasper. 'I don't want to hurt him.' Murphy nodded towards Jasper. 'But I know he'll tell Bellamy. If you can make sure he keeps his mouth shut he can go.'

'Keeps his mouth shut? What did you-' Brinley caught sight of Myles, lying still behind Murphy, his chest no longer moving up and down. 'No, no please tell me you didn't...'

'He tied the noose that they hung me with! He helped them!'

'Murphy-' Jasper tried, stepping backwards slightly.

'He-he tried to kill me!' Murphy looked at Jasper with a pleading expression on his face. Jasper stepped backwards again and Murphy lifted the gun. 'Hey, don't move.'

'Okay. Okay.' Jasper agreed. 'It's cool.'

'No it's not. You know what'll happen to me if you tell Bellamy.'

'Tell Bellamy what?'

Bellamy's voice crackled through the speaker of the walkie that Jasper was holding in his hand.

Brinley's breath caught as Murphy's expression darkened. There was no way they'd all be getting out of this one unscathed.
