Bellamy watched the other girl with careful eyes. He didn't like the idea of his sister hanging around with a known criminal, but as she had pointed out, he too, was technically a criminal now, and he'd learnt years ago not to get in Octavia's way when she wanted something.

The girl, Brinley, had the right idea removing the wristbands and Bellamy silently thanked the girl for giving him the answer to his prayers. By now, he was sure they had taken notice that he was missing and found Chancellor Jaha dead. He was a criminal – a murderer.

He watched as a smirk spread across his sister's face as she laughed loudly at the reckless girl she'd found a friend in. Octavia reached up to kiss his cheek as she hurried after Brinley, dragging her in a different direction.

'... Four of us, can we go now?'

Brinley looked up curiously as she heard Finn's voice. There was a group consisting of Clarke, Finn, Jasper and Monty. Brinley guessed they were going to be the ones attempting to get to Mount Weather. Not thinking twice, Brinley jumped at a chance to explore their new home.

'Make it five.' She called; she smiled at Jasper and Monty who were watching her carefully. The two blushed when they realised she had seen their glances.

'Sounds like a party, make is six.' Octavia called.

Brinley groaned as Bellamy's head perked up at his sister's words.

'Now you've done it.' She muttered to Octavia who groaned as well as he approached.

'Hey, what the hell are you doing?' He grabbed Octavia's arm.

'Going for a walk.' Octavia replied as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

Brinley snorted and Bellamy shot her a deadly look. If looks could kill, she thought idly. She vaguely heard Clarke ask about Finn's wristband.

'Brinley, where's your wristband?' Clarke asked in exasperation.

'I don't know, don't really care either.' Brinley shrugged.

'Everyone will think your dead.'

'Am I supposed to care?' Brinley asked the blonde.

'Do you want your Dad to think your dead?'

Brinley scoffed. 'Councillor Kane can go float himself.'

'You don't mean that.' Clarke denied.

Brinley shrugged, not answering her.

'Let's go.' Clarke sighed.

Octavia reached up and kissed her brothers cheek. 'Mwah.'

Bellamy let out a huge sigh behind them and Brinley hesitated.

'Don't worry sweetie, I'll keep an eye on her.' Brinley teased him, a mocking tone entering her voice.

'I'll hold you to that. If anything happens to her, I'm holding you accountable sweetheart.' His tone was serious and his mouth twisted in distaste as the nickname left his mouth.

Brinley cringed at the nickname and hurried to catch up to Octavia.

'Before you get any ideas, Finn is mine.' Octavia warned Clarke as she fell into step with Brinley again.

'Before you get any ideas, I don't care.' Clarke muttered.

'I don't have to warn you too, do I?' Octavia asked teasingly.

Brinley glared at her in response.

'If you're gonna kill someone, it's probably best not to announce it.'

Murphy turned to look at the older boy in front of him. 'You're not really a member of the guard, are you?' Murphy asked him, one of the other delinquents beside him, still snickering at their threat to Wells. John, he thought is name was.

'No. The real guard will be here soon unless we stop it.' Bellamy crossed his arms. Murphy glanced at John, but stayed silent.

'You don't actually think they're gonna forgive your crimes? Even if they do, then what? Guys like us, we're gonna become model citizens now, get jobs, if we're lucky, maybe pick up their trash?'

'You got a point?' Murphy cut Bellamy off.

'No, I got a question. They locked you up, and dumped you here like lab rats to die. So why are you helping them?'

'The hell were are!' John spat angrily.

'You're wearing those bracelets, aren't you? Right now those things are telling them whether or not it's safe to follow us down.'

'Okay, You said we could stop it. How?' Murphy asked after a moment of silence.

'Take them off. The Ark will think you're dead, that it's not safe to follow. You follow?'

'Right, and if we do, I mean, what's in it for us?' Murphy asked as Bellamy turned around.

'Someone has got to help me run things.' Bellamy smirked, seeing his words have their intended affect on the two as he walked away.

'The Ark is dying.' Clarke's words made the group stop in their tracks while she continued walking. 'At the current population level there is roughly three months left of life support. Maybe four now that we're gone.'

'So that was the secret they locked you up to keep, why they floated your old man?' Brinley stumbled; Octavia grabbed her arm to steady her.

'They floated your dad?' Brinley's words were soft but Clarke still heard her.

'My father was the engineer who discovered the flaw. We wanted to go public but everyone disagreed. The council, my mum...we were going to go public anyway but Wells...'

'Wells turned in your dad?' Brinley asked in disbelief, not quite believing what Clarke was implying.

'That's why today. Even if we all die, Atleast they bought themselves some more time.'

Brinley tuned Octavia's following words out, instead reaching out to Clarke. 'Clarke, I'm sorry about Jake...'

Clarke smiled sadly at her. 'Thanks, Brin.'

'Oh damn I love Earth'

Brinley looked up at Jasper's words and noticed Octavia stripping down and cursed. 'Octavia, what the hell are you doing?' She hissed as she ran to the girl.

'Living, something I haven't been able to do my whole life.' She shrugged and without a second thought she jumped into the cool water below them.

'Octavia!'

'Yes?' She laughed when she came up for air.

'Your brother is going to murder me if anything happens to you.'

Octavia raised an eyebrow. 'Doing my brothers dirty work already are you?' Her words had their intended affect almost immediately, Brinley's expression darkened and she stripped down to her singlet and underwear, carefully concealing her gun in her jacket before jumping in after Octavia, ignoring Jasper's whistle behind her.

The water was cool and refreshing on her clammy skin. She splashed Octavia playfully.

'There's not supposed to be a river here...' She heard Clarke murmur.

'Well there is, so take off your damn clothes.' Finn replied. Brinley looked at Octavia who shrugged her shoulders carelessly.

'Oh... Octavia, Brinley, get out of the water.' Something in Jasper's voice made her look up, but he wasn't looking at them, he was staring behind them.

'Get out of the water now!' Clarke screamed as Octavia was pulled under.

'Octavia!' Brinley screamed as her friend surfaced, thrashing around trying desperately to escape the grip something had on her.

Bellamy's words echoed through Brinley's head and she groaned. 'I'm so dead.'

Brinley pulled Octavia close to her as she surfaced again, passing her body to Jasper who had joined the two in the water. 'Take her!'

'It's headed right for you guys!' Clarke warned, Panic in her tone.

Brinley dived under the water, hoping the splash distracted whatever was chasing them.

She felt pain burst in her side as she was tossed around. Another splash sounded and she was let go, being pulled out of the water by Finn. She lay beside Octavia and Jasper, trying to catch her breath, ignoring the stinging coming from her torso.

'Thanks spacewalker.' She said breathlessly as Finn laughed, adrenaline coursing through their veins.

Clarke lifted Brinley's shirt, inspecting the wound. 'You'll be okay. Tie your jacket around your midsection to help stop the blood, okay?'

Brinley nodded as she stood to get redressed, reaching for the jacket before anyone else could.

Octavia hobbled over to her, pulling her into a hug. 'Thank you, thank you so much.' Brinley returned the hug feeling thankful that they were all okay.

'I'm sorry it had to be this way.'

Bellamy was facing Wells as he slowly slid the gun back into the waistband of his pants.

Murphy and John snuck up behind Wells who immediately began shaking his head.

'Come on man, don't do this!' He pleaded with Bellamy as he stared angrily at Murphy.

'Its for the best.' Murphy said smugly while Bellamy watched them.

'Screw you Murphy!'

'Aw, Is someone still bitter that Brinley chose me over you and princess?'

Bellamy's eyes narrowed at the mention of Brinley's name, his instant dislike of the girl setting his teeth on edge.

'You ruined her!' Wells growled as they came closer.

'She ruined herself.' John and Murphy grabbed Wells as Bellamy walked away, ignoring his cries for help.

*****

'You wanted to go first, quit stalling.'

'Mount Weather awaits.'

'Just hang on until the apogee, and you'll be fine.'

'The apogee, like the Indians right?'

'Apogee, not apache.'

'He knows, today Finn.'

'Aye Aye Captain, see you on the other side.'

Brinley rolled her eyes as Jasper decided he wanted to go first. She was tired and the wound along her stomach was twisting painfully with every move she made.

'If you two don't decide whose going first, I'll push you both in the water.' She stated.

'See you on the other side!' Jasper called, glancing at Octavia who was already watching him.

They all cheered as he successfully made it to the other side.

'Yeah Jasper! You did it!'

'Let's go princess, you're up.'

'We did it! Mount Weather!' Jasper hollered causing them all to cheer.

'Yeah Jasper!'

As Brinley watched, there was a rustling in the trees and suddenly a spear impaled her new friend, leaving him pinned up against a tree with a look of shock frozen on his face.

Panic set in as Brinley dragged Clarke and Octavia down where they could hide.

'We're not alone.'
