Two days.
It had been two days since Finn's massacre at the grounder village and everyone seemed to be waiting for retaliation.
Brinley couldn't even bring herself to look at Finn after what he'd done and she knew that Clarke was having trouble doing the same. Out of all of them, Finn – the peacemaker of the 100 – was the last person any of them would have expected to single handedly murder innocent men, women and children.
Brinley understood desperation. She understood need and she most certainly understood revenge, but even Brinley Kane would not put a plan into action without having all of the facts presented to her, especially a plan that could end the lives of many.
But even despite the horror they all felt at Finn's obvious mental instability, Brinley found herself almost happy, which was strange considering the circumstances.
'Okay, tell me again.'
Brinley was seated beside Bellamy, whom was questioning both her and Clarke about their escape from Mount Weather, a map in front of them.
'It's a labyrinth. We got to the dam through this tunnel. It's all connected to the mine system, that's our way in.' Clarke explained again.
'Sure, if we can get past the reapers and the mountain men. I swear to god, if your Mum doesn't sanction a mission soon I'm going by myself.' Bellamy sighed.
'You won't be by yourself.' Brinley pointed out and Clarke nodded as her eyes drifted to behind Bellamy and Brinley.
'Guess the inquisitions over.' Bellamy commented as he glanced at Finn before turning back around to the blonde again. 'How's Finn doing anyway?'
'I haven't talked to him since we got back.' Clarke looked down almost guiltily. 'I don't know what to say. He just kept shooting.'
'We're at war, Clarke.' Bellamy ignored Brinley's sharp look. 'We've all done things.'
Finn appeared beside them, bringing with him an air of tension. 'Hey.'
'Hey.' Bellamy commented back, seeing both Brinley and Clarke look away from the newcomer.
Finn was staring at Clarke and Brinley noticed, standing up suddenly with an agitated sigh, tugging Bellamy up with her. 'Come on hot shot, buy me a drink.'
After they got far away enough that the two could no longer hear them, Bellamy asked. 'What was that for?'
'They need to talk, and you're buying me a drink remember.' Brinley smiled sweetly up at him, making Bellamy crack a smile.
'Fine. One drink.'
Brinley followed Bellamy to where someone was handing out cups of alcohol, Bellamy asked for two, turning around and handing one to Brinley with a smirk.
'There you go sweetheart.'
Brinley downed it in one go, cringing at the aftertaste. 'Ugh, Monty's moonshine is so much better.'
'Brin.'
Brinley turned at Murphy's voice, raising an eyebrow at him. 'Murphy.'
'Clarke needs you in electrical.'
Brinley sighed. 'Alright, thanks Murphy.'
Brinley started to walk away, but turned back around to her two boys. 'Play nice, both of you.' She warned as she walked away, not seeing the wary looks Bellamy and Murphy shot at each other as she did so.

'Clarke?'
'Brinley, hey. Raven found something.'
'What is it?' Brinley asked curiously.
'I don't know, we haven't got to that part yet.'
Brinley walked towards the two as Raven launched into her findings the moment she realised she had a captivated audience. 'I tweaked the resonator and got this.' Raven held a radio in her hand that began emitting a strange, but not unfamiliar whirring sound. Brinley felt her blood run cold at the sound.
'It's on every frequency, long-range communication is totally screwed, It's also why the range in our walkies suck. It's also the sound Monty heard on the black box of the Exodus ship.' Raven explained.
Brinley shook her head. 'That's not all, that's the sound Monty and I heard on the walkies right before Monty disappeared when we found Myles.'
'Mount Weather crashed the exodus ship.' Clarke muttered in realisation. 'Can you get around the signal?'
'Around it, no. But if I can get to the tower that broadcasts it, I can make it go boom.' Raven smirked.
'No one is going anywhere!'
Brinley rolled her eyes at Abby's interruption, leaning close to Raven and whispering to her. 'I'm going to find Bellamy.'
Raven nodded. 'Go.'
Abby and Clarke were arguing intently, and it didn't take much to slip by Byrne. Brinley's eyes searched the groups of people until her eyes found Bellamy and Murphy sitting silently at a table, and from the way both of their eyes snapped up to her as she approached, she guessed they had been waiting for her.
'What did Clarke want?'
'Mount Weather crashed the Exodus ship. They use a jam on different frequency's to stop long-range communication. Raven thinks if she can get to the tower that broadcasts it, she can blow it up.' Brinley explained quickly, noting various guards staring at the trio.
'We'd have an advantage. A small one, but still.' Bellamy nodded. 'When are we going?'
Brinley frowned. 'I don't know if we are, Abby heard us.'
'Figures.' Murphy snorted.
'Brin!' Clarke appeared beside Brinley, a spark of determination in her expression. 'My Mum sanctioned a mission. We're going back to Mount Weather.'
'I'll get my pack.' Clarke nodded and disappeared again as Brinley turned back to Murphy and Bellamy. 'You two coming?'
'Did you really just ask that?' Bellamy asked in amusement. 'Meet me by the main gate in five.'
Brinley nodded and looked to Murphy.
'Sorry doll face, I'm not really in the mood.' Murphy shrugged.
'Of course you aren't. Just stay out of trouble, yeah? They just pardoned you, don't do something stupid to ruin that.'
'Whatever you say Brinley.'
Brinley hugged Murphy, who grudgingly hugged her back having never been a fan of affection, before she set off to her living quarters to grab her pack.

'I can't believe they let Finn come.'
Brinley snickered at Octavia's obvious disgust as she walked beside the brunette.
'He's the best tracker we've got.' Bellamy defended. 'Don't forget to look up. The grounders use the trees, that's how we lost John Mbege.'
Brinley rolled her eyes as her eyes wandered over the group, from the guards surrounding them to Clarke and Abby talking quietly. One person caught Brinley's attention more than the others. Octavia and Bellamy were still talking quietly and neither noticed as she dropped back slightly.
'How you holding up Reyes?'
'I'm fine.' Raven shrugged even though Brinley knew she was lying. Raven had been lagging behind and it was clear that her injury was causing her pain, that being coupled with the closeness of Finn was enough to make the girl less than fine.
'You sure?' Brinley pressed.
'Positive.'
There was silence between the two for a moment before Raven sighed. 'Hey, look. I never apologised to you for what I said back at the drop ship, and for sleeping with Bellamy. I was pissed and upset and I took it out on you.'
Brinley was surprised to realise she held no animosity towards the brunette. 'It's okay Raven, it's forgotten. I said some pretty nasty things too, so sorry.'
'It's forgotten.' Raven smiled slightly at Brinley who smiled back.

It wasn't hard for Octavia, Bellamy and Brinley to sneak away the closer the group got to mount weather. The guards began looking more at the mountain more than they did the teenagers, and for that Brinley was thankful.
Brinley had adamantly ignored Bellamy's protests about her coming along much to Octavia's amusement. Brinley always got what she wanted and Octavia knew that Bellamy was fighting a losing battle.
'According to Clarke before the bombs there were buildings everywhere here. I'm guessing some of them had access to the bunker. So we're looking for ruins, anything that's man made, okay?'
'Hey Blake!' Bellamy, Octavia and Brinley immediately stopped walking. 'Let's go, right now.'
'In case you've forgotten, we're not under your command.'
'Don't make us do this the hard way.'
'Come on Scott.' Bellamy sounded impatient. 'Forty six of our people are prisoners in this mountain.'
'And that's why we're out here.' Scott nodded.
'Wrong. You're out here to find other stations of the Ark. We're out here to find our friends.'
'Brinley, think about what your Father would want.' Scott tried.
Brinley scoffed. 'He'd want me locked away out of the action, guess it's a good thing I do what I want.'
'Bell...'
Brinley looked to Octavia who was staring at the ground that was crawling with bugs. 'Ew.'
'What are they doing?' Scott frowned.
'Running.' Bellamy answered.
Brinley looked up, noting the yellow tinged fog that was rolling in towards them. 'Acid fog.' She breathed. 'Acid Fog!'
'We need cover! Now!' Bellamy commanded.
Brinley watched Octavia follow the moving trail, deciding the follow her friend who looked as though she had realised something.
'O? O! Brinley! Get back here!'
The two girls ignored Bellamy as Octavia pulled away chunks of greenery, 'Bell! There's something in here! Maybe it's the ruins.'
'Hey! Hey over here!'
Scott, who had been still fumbling over the canvas tents, rushed over leaving his two companions behind.
'Come on pull!'
'Hurry up!' Octavia screamed.
The door came unstuck and Bellamy ushered them all inside, calling to the remaining guards. 'Hey! Quick! Get inside!'
The two remaining guards got up, running towards them but one was too slow and it was only second before the fog consumed him as Bellamy shut the door with a bang.
Brinley clicked the flashlight on the scope of her gun scanning it around, the others doing the same. 'Where are we?'
'Looks like a garage.' Bellamy sounded slightly awed and Brinley couldn't blame him.
'More like a tomb.' Octavia commented drily.
'Look, I'm sorry about your man, but we need to find an access door to mount weather.'
'Hey, not so fast – ' Scott tried to interrupt Bellamy.
'Sir, that fog could keep us pinned down for another-'
Bellamy stopped speaking as Scott held out a gun for him to take. 'We'll split up, meet back here in fifteen. Be safe.'
Brinley slowed behind Octavia and Bellamy who were searching warily, unable to stop herself from looking in car windows, seeing what was left behind. Every object, ever tear in the fabric and every fingerprint left behind was the story of someone long gone. Though the garage had been untouched for ninety-seven years, it was almost as though everyone had left minutes before the Arkadian's had arrived, leaving their child's stuffed bear on the backseat, or their notebook on the front floor.
'Brin, keep up.' Bellamy called back to her.
'Yeah yeah, relax.'
The trio froze as loud screams echoed from further down, back towards where they had entered.
They crept towards where the sounds had come from warily and after a moment of silence, still crouching, Bellamy called out into the darkness. 'Scott? Are you there?'
Bellamy moved forwards move, Octavia and Brinley following quietly. Brinley's heart sank when they found a discarded gun that Bellamy didn't hesitate to pick up.
A wet, squelching sound hit Brinley's ears and her stomach turned at the possibilities.
'Bell, what's that?' Octavia asked fearfully.
Everything seemed normal until Bellamy's light hit the forms of two people who ran crazily towards them.
'Reapers.' Octavia breathed.
Bellamy was far quicker than Brinley as he shot the two reapers dead.
'O?'
'What?'
'Take this.'
Bellamy handed Octavia the gun Scott had given him, and Octavia took it without hesitation.
There was more squelcing – chewing – and the light hit another reaper, only this one wasn't as unfamiliar as the last.
Bellamy cocked his gun and Brinley quickly grabbed the end of the gun and lowered it the same time that Octavia spoke. 'Don't!'
Bellamy looked between the two in confusion.
'It's Lincoln!' Octavia sounded both happy and relieved, but Brinley could see there was no recognition on the grounders usually handsome face.
'Lincoln, Lincoln it's me. It's Octavia!'
Lincoln advanced towards them, reaching for Octavia.
'Bell!'
'Octavia!'
At Bellamy's shout, Lincoln had begun to advance towards him and Brinley, and Bellamy upon realising this pushed Brinley behind him.
There was a gunshot and Lincoln faltered, and it took Brinley a moment to realise that Octavia had been the one who fired the shot, not Bellamy. Bellamy yelled as he lifted his gun up, bashing it across Lincoln's skull.
Lincoln fell and stilled save for the moving of his chest letting them know he was simply knocked out.
Brinley rushed to Octavia, pulling her. 'Come on O.'
'We need to get somewhere safe.'
*****
Apparently somewhere safe meant the backseat of one of the abandoned cars.
Octavia still seemed to be in shock, and well, Brinley couldn't blame her.
'He's a reaper. How is it even possible? He just looked right through me.'
Lincoln appeared through the window, and after a moment disappeared again.
'Did he see us?' Octavia breathed.
'I don't know.'
Octavia was panicking and Bellamy's brotherly instincts kicked in. 'Shh, hey listen to me. We'll get him back I promise.'
'There's one good thing to come out of this.' Brinley whispered. 'They weren't in here when we arrived and the door we came through was hidden in moss, completely untouched. When Clarke and I escaped mount weather, we had to go through the reaper tunnels. This building has to be connected.'
'We're one step closer to finding our friends.' Bellamy nodded.
*****
'We'll find a way to fix him, O.'
Octavia and Brinley were sitting against the dropship wall, their eyes fixed to Lincoln who Bellamy had chained up. The scene was reminiscent of the day Bellamy had tortured Lincoln for information, only this time Bellamy wanted to help Lincoln rather than hurt him.
'What if we can't Brin?' Octavia's voice shook.
'We will.' Brinley's voice was firm. 'Bellamy and Clarke will find a way.'
'You have a lot of faith in them.'
'Because they always know what to do.'
Lincoln began stirring, tugging at the chains. Octavia and Brinley were hidden mostly in the shadows and he hadn't noticed them yet, Almost on queue, Clarke's blonde hair appeared on the ladder and Lincoln immediately began roaring and struggling even harder against the restraints.
'It's okay. It's okay, he's been restrained.' Bellamy assured Clarke who looked horrified.
'I can't believe we're back here again.' Clarke frowned.
'Can you help him?' Lincoln's screams were clearly upsetting Octavia.
'I don't know. I knew mount weather controlled the reapers, I had no idea they were creating them.'
'Yeah well add that to the list of things we didn't know,' Brinley stood up, ignoring the way Lincoln snarled at her.
'If they can do that to Lincoln, what are they doing to our friends?' Bellamy asked the question they'd all been thinking.
Lincoln continued growling and screaming until out of nowhere he began shaking.
'What's happening to him?' Octavia worried.
'He's convulsing... what happened to his leg?'
Octavia's expression closed off. 'I shot him.'
'Clarke, he's lost a lot of blood.'
Clarke warily made her way forward. 'Can you shine the light on his neck?'
Brinley noticed what Clarke was looking at she approached Lincoln to stand beside Clarke. 'Needle marks.'
'You think he's been drugged?'
'Maybe.' Clarke frowned, right as Lincoln pulled one of the metal fixtures he was chained too, out of the wall.
Lincoln knocked Clarke over the head and grabbed Brinley violently. His nails digging into her skin as his hand squeezed her throat, screaming all the while.
'Lincoln!' Octavia screamed rushing forwards, but one swift hit from Lincoln sent Octavia flying.
Bellamy continually hit Lincoln, trying to get him to release Brinley to no avail. Brinley's face was turning a shade of purple and her fighting was slowing down. But Bellamy's attack seemed to enrage Lincoln more as he threw Brinley down, as he attacked Bellamy, sending him to the ground.
Lincoln continued to fight but fell to the dropship floor thanks to his still bound legs. Bellamy and Clarke tried to attack again, but it was only when Octavia bashed Lincoln upside the head with an iron bar that he stopped, knocked unconscious again.
Brinley, still gasping for breath, felt someone lift her up slightly. Bellamy rested her back against his chest, keeping her close. 'Are you alright?'
Brinley coughed. 'I'm okay.' She rasped out. 'Are you?'
'I'm fine.'
'We have to help him Bell.'
'I know.'
*****
Clarke and Brinley looked up at the sound of a gun cocking a bullet into place.
'Wait! He's Lincoln's friend and their healer!'
Octavia had appeared with a grounder by her side. 'O, you've got to be kidding me.' Brinley sighed as beside her, Lincoln began convulsing.
'He's seizing again.' Clarke sighed.
The grounder, whom looked familiar to Brinley, moved to his friends side, rolling out a row of vials similar to the ones they had used to save Finn from the grounders poison. He picked up one of the vials gently.
'What is that?' Clarke questioned.
'Yu gonplei ste odon.'
The phrase sounded familiar and Brinley searched through her memory to figure out why as Clarke's eyes widened and she caught the droplet that had fallen from the bottle.
''Wait!'
The grounder pulled out a knife and Bellamy lifted the gun again. 'Back off. Right now!'
'Yu gonplei ste odon.' Clarke frowned. 'It's what they say before death. He's not trying to heal him, he's trying to kill him.'
'Nyko?' Octavia sounded betrayed. 'Is it true?'
'Yes.' Nyko confirmed. 'Death is the only way.'
'Hold on, there could be a way to bring him back.'
'None that I've ever seen.' Nyko shot down Clarke's hope.
'We have to go! The camp's leaving.' Finn appeared seemingly out of nowhere, looking pale and out of breath.
'You!' Nyko was enraged and Brinley quickly realised why Nyko looked familiar. He'd been in the village the day of the massacre.
Nyko began yelling in his native language, launching himself at Finn. Brinley couldn't say Finn didn't deserve it, but at the same time, Finn was still her friend.
'Get off him!'
'You slaughtered my people! Elders, children, innocents.' Nyko was choking Finn.
'Nyko, you're killing him.'
'Blood must have blood!'
'Bellamy you're not shooting him, no!'
Brinley noticed the shock baton the guards used lying discarded on the floor. She picked it up; flicking it to life as she shock lashed the grounder whom immediately let Finn go.
'Lincoln? He's not breathing.' Octavia looked distraught and Brinley moved to comfort her friend.
'His heart's stopped, move.' Clarke began pumping Lincoln's chest until finally, he let out a strangled gasp.
'He was dead.' Nyko said in awe. 'How did you do that?'
'You've tried bringing reapers back before?' Clarke questioned.
Nyko nodded.
'And they died like this?'
Nyko nodded again.
'What is it?' Bellamy asked impatiently.
'I know how to stop the attack.'
*****
Brinley found herself in the upper level of the dropship, alone. Clarke was with Finn and Octavia was with Nyko and Bellamy, by Lincoln's side.
It had seemed to come out of nowhere and hit her full force. The possibility that her friends in mount weather could be being mistreated, drained for their blood or killed. She had always known it to be a possibility, but seeing what had become of the strong grounder now almost lifeless below her terrified her.
The kids in Mount Weather had no idea what they were truly up against.
Brinley could hear someone climbing the ladder; a head of dark curls appearing as she swiped her sleeve across her face to hide the few tears that had fallen.
'What are you doing up here?'
It never failed to amuse Brinley how much softer Bellamy's voice became when they were alone, as though there were a side of him that was reserved for her, and her only.
'Needed a break.' She shrugged, standing up from her position against the wall.
'Hey.' Bellamy caught her arm gently as she went to walk past him. 'What's wrong?'
Brinley's bottom lip trembled and she bit it harshly. 'Seeing Lincoln like that, I – I should have tried harder.'
'What?' Bellamy seemed utterly confused and Brinley couldn't blame him.
'In Mount Weather. I should have tried harder to convince the others to come with us. Clarke and I left them there, even knowing what they were doing to the grounders.'
'That isn't your fault.' Bellamy denied.
'Isn't it? We ran like cowards towards the first sign of escape we saw. We watched them drain grounders for blood, we watched reapers tear people apart and we ran. We ran away and left our people alone and ignorant to what was happening practically in the next room!'
'Brinley – '
'If anything happens to them - Jasper, Monty, Miller, Harper – that's on Clarke and I – on us. That's on me.' Brinley sighed shakily. 'If they're creating reapers with grounders, who knows what else they want to do with our friends.'
'You did what you had to. You and Clarke could not have taken on Mount Weather alone, especially considering our friends refused to believe anything was wrong. Coming back, finding us, it was the smart thing to do. We will save them.' Bellamy sounded so sure, so confident that Brinley almost believed him.
'I can't stay and do nothing much longer Bellamy. I need to get in that Mountain.'
'I know, and we will. Together, okay.'
Brinley nodded. 'Together.'
Bellamy tugged Brinley closer to him, causing Brinley to look up at him before she wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing him. Bellamy responded immediately, his fingers tightening on her hips.
*****
Brinley woke up the next morning with Bellamy's jacket draped over her; She yawned as she sat up, hearing quiet chatter from below her. Her, Octavia, Bellamy and Nyko had stayed the night in the drop ship to monitor Lincoln who showed both no progress and no deterioration for which they were grateful.
Brinley climbed down the ladder, Bellamy's jacket in hand, noticing the new additions to their group. Both Abby and Finn sent her brief smiles as she entered.
'Why didn't you wake me?' Brinley lightly smacked Bellamy's chest.
'Good morning to you too.' Bellamy smirked. 'You needed to sleep.'
'Thanks for the jacket.' Brinley kissed Bellamy's cheek, yawning as she sat down beside Abby.
'This will bring down his fever.' Abby showed Octavia the needle she was holding.
Abby tried to inject Lincoln who began thrashing around again. 'Hold him down!' Abby commanded.
Brinley moved to help her friends hold Lincoln down, and even in his current state it was a challenge that required all of their strength. Lincoln began seizing again before he stilled.
'Why isn't it working?' Octavia asked in frustration.
'His heart stopped.' Abby began doing compressions on Lincoln's chest. 'You're their healer?' She spoke to Nyko who nodded. 'Tilt his head back, pull his chin down to open his airway.'
After a few minutes of compressions, Abby abruptly stopped.
'You're stopping, what's wrong?' Octavia had tears in her eyes.
'I'm sorry. He's gone.'
'No, It's not possible, you're wrong!' Octavia cried.
'Octavia...' Bellamy made his way to his sister.
'Come back... Lincoln.'
The hatch opened and Clarke appeared, one look at her face told them they were completely and utterly screwed.
A girl appeared, her clothing and makeup marking her as the commander. Brinley felt a flicker of surprise; she couldn't be much older than her and Clarke. The commander glanced at Lincoln before glancing at another warrior as she nodded.
Bellamy was reaching for his gun and Brinley's eyes were drawn to something on the ground not far from her, near Bellamy himself.
'Kill them all!' The cry came from one of the grounders as they all raised their weapons, Brinley raising the shock baton she had snatched from the ground. It hadn't been that long since she'd been the one dying from poisoning on this very level, Clarke and Bellamy had told her she'd stopped breathing, that her heart had stopped -
'Please, you don't have to do this.' Clarke pleaded with the commander.
'You lied, and you're out of time.'
Brinley could see the tears gathering in Clarke's eyes, and without warning, the brunette girl dived down, prompted by a memory, slamming the baton against Lincoln's still chest.
His body convulsed and both Clarke and Abby looked hopeful as Clarke spoke. 'Hit him again.'
Brinley did as she was told, and was rewarded by a loud gasp from Lincoln's lips.
'Lincoln.' Octavia cried softly.
'Octavia.' Lincoln rasped out.
Brinley watched as Clarke and the commander shared a look, before the commander sheathed her sword.
Clarke left with the commander, and once the grounders had disappeared, Bellamy crouched down beside Brinley who was still on the ground beside Lincoln and Octavia.
'How did you know that would work?'
'I didn't.' Brinley shrugged. 'But I seem to recall being told Clarke used the electrical current from the dropship to shock me after I was poisoned. I wasn't sure if the shock batons would be strong enough, but apparently they are.'
Bellamy smiled crookedly at her. 'You're brilliant.'
'I try.' Brinley smirked.
Brinley felt someone tap her and she looked down. 'Thank you.'
Brinley smiled. 'You're welcome. But I should be thanking you for taking care of Octavia. We,' Brinley glanced at Bellamy who raised an eyebrow at her, challenging her to try and get him to show gratitude. 'Appreciate it.'
'You're welcome.'
Brinley let herself relax as the tension left her body and the dropship.
Crisis averted.
For now, atleast.
