6. Gary, Angie, Dawn, Iris, May... Misty
Ash scrolled nervously down his contacts list on his phone. He seriously needed to talk to someone about this.
“Gary—no, no—he’ll tell her—no-”
“Maybe I should talk to a girl. Maybe a girl would know what I should do with Misty. That’s it. A girl, a girl—yes—Angi—no—not Angie-”
Ash scrolled down quickly. His hand shook. There were so many things running in his mind. He thought he could speak to Dawn, Iris, or May—
“Yes May! May!” Ash clicked on her phone number quickly and brought his phone closer to his ear. He was impatiently waiting for her to pick up. He needed to get it out. Those feelings were suffocating him.
H-
“May! Oh thank god you picked up! You have no idea—my family members are insane people I tell you! I was trying every time to talk to them about Misty but they won’t get it! My dad thought I wanted to have sex, mom said I should wait until I’m thirty, my grandma thought I was scared of getting in a relationship, and grandpa had no freaking clue! No clue! I just wanted to ask them about what I should do next because I think I really like Misty but I don’t know! I think I hate her at the same time! I don’t know—I really like being with her but I just don’t like it when she’s with other guys including Gary! It makes me feel jealous! I want her to mine—do you get me? I want to date her but I’m scared! I’m freaking scared! I’m scared she’s turn me down or even tell me that she doesn’t get these weird feelings—I’m not even sure this means I like her! Hello? You there?”
Ash? Is that you…
Ash’s face fell. That voice… He pulled away his phone and glanced at the name on the screen.
Mist.
Ash? You the-
Ash quickly hung up. It was the first time he’d hang up on someone’s face. He put his phone aside.
“Okay, nothing happened—nothing happened…” Ash breathed heavily. Right when he got up and wanted to leave his bedroom his phone rang. He jumped at it and kept staring at the caller ID.
Mist.
“God, I’m such a loser…” Ash spoke to himself and sighed. He pressed his finger against the Answer button.
“Hi?”
Hi Ash… uhmm… about what you said…
“Please, don’t remind me-”
No no, it’s not really what you think-
“Misty, it’s no big deal really. I was just babbling out. It didn’t mean anything.” Ash was freaking out. He wanted this conversation to end soon. It was making him feel so uptight and irritated.
It was so embarrassing; she’s even probably heard about the part when he spoke about the sex conversation. Now she’d think he’s a big pervert.
Ash, don’t be like that! Come on, we’re friends and we should share-
“You said it, we’re friends.”
Oh my God I didn’t mean to—oh my I’m such an idiot! Aaarrhg!
Ash couldn’t help but chuckle at her reaction. He asked, “What’s wrong?”
I didn’t mean to say friends like—uuuuh, do you get me? I meant that… we’re close and we should share everything—yes! Close! That’s the word! HA!
Ash chuckled again. “Uhm, okay.”
Well… I’m… I noticed recently you were being… weird—well not weird, just different.
Ash bit his lips. So it was obvious?
I thought I did something wrong because sometimes you avoided me.
“Uh… about that…”
Because, you see, I wanted to be with you all the time—you always leave me and go with Dawn and May!
That’s because it made Ash feel less nervous. Misty didn’t know. “But it’s not what you think-”
So I did the same and went to Gary! So you should blame yourself or that!
Ash jumped up a bit. He got up and moved around his bedroom. “Well, he’s your friend too.”
Don’t play that game with me, Ash. You just said you feel jealous when I do that.
“Well, you feel jealous when I go to May and Dawn too.”
That’s because I like you! You don’t get it! You’re so blind you don’t get it! You make me so mad with this clueless attitude of yours! Is it all the food you eat, Ash? Is the fat stuck between your brain cells? Because you should do something about it! I don’t care! Go on a diet! You’re so blind it’s crazy! This hurts my head! Everything hurts now! My mouth hurts! My face hurts! Even my forehead hur-
“Did you just-….”
Oh—oh! Oh my Go—Oh my God! OH MY GOD!
She hung up. Ash pulled the phone away and checked once more. End of Call. Misty did really hang up.
“Wow… that was… wow.” Ash tried calling her back but she wasn’t answering. He could tell how she was feeling right now; after all, he babbled out about it too.
Who cares? They liked each other. Ash liked Misty, and she liked him back. So that’s it. They liked each other. That’s why he was feeling that way toward her. He liked her in a romantic way.
Maybe it was a crazy day, but Ash got finally his answers.
SLAM!
“AAIE!”
Some other people though still didn’t get theirs.
THE END.
