@aimar_
aimar_ it's your turn, prepare yourself.
So Mar,
I'm not very good with words.
Words can't even begin to express how much I appreciate you, value you, and love you. I haven't known you for that long, I'm probably not as special to you as to many other people. I'm an insignificant little bean that has no big impact on you. I do not know you. But you're very special to me. Like extremely. You're a bae to many people including me
The one person to ever contact me outside of Wattpad and stick with me for months. In the little time we actually went through a lot, had laughs, our own little struggles. I'm just glad I had someone like you in my life. Let's be honest, I haven't seen you grow or stuck with you all of your life. But I have seen some improvements, and now you're going to college which I am very proud of.
And your writing, your writing is a blessing. I haven't told you but I learned from your writing, extravagant style and excessive vocabulary. I'm glad you have tried, to me you have succeeded in making some pretty good works. I just hope you keep practicing, and keep blowing us away.
I want the best for you, and your life. The outside world sucks, but you're a tough (if not tough then squishy) 19 year old now. I wish the absolute best for you and your future.
I hope we can keep being friends, and if not well just know I am forever grateful for meeting you.
So my gift to you is an Akashi one shot called Treasure Hunt:
Mar tapped her pencil on her desk rhythmically, glancing at the clock every word the teacher spoke. She felt so bored, literally anything else would be more entertaining than the dull lecture. Some students even fell asleep without the teacher noticing. Finally after what felt like years, the bell rang and signaled the end of the day. She sighed out of relief, packing up her things getting ready to go home. It was just any other day, except...
"Mar-chan~" She heard her friends call and turned to see them waving at her.
"We just wanted to say Happy Birthday before you go home!" They called bringing about bright smiles.
She waved back, "Thank you!" She exclaimed gratefully. Today was the girl's birthday, and everyone wished her the best all day. Even if she did appreciate it, she certainly wasn't enjoying her birthday as much today. The reason being a certain red-magenta (wtf even is his hair color?) haired, egotistical emperor by the name of Akashi Seijuro. He wronged her in no way, however, what consumed her was worry. Yesterday, he had informed her of what his father had planned with him about their family corporation. And it seemed as though it would ride into her birthday. She didn't mind how busy he was, in fact he worked harder than anyone. But she couldn't help the worry over his health. With all of the work his father piled on him, adding in school and basketball, he was bound to keel over from all the stress in fatigue. Usually he would argue that he could handle it, his usual catchphrase of how he's absolute raining down from him with pride. But he was still human, he wasn't God.
Mar went into a local bookstore, a usual hangout place for her aside from Maji Burger. She looked over the classical literature, finding solace in the words and imaginary worlds old authors had created. But she just couldn't focus on her reading. She heaved a sigh, checking on her texts, seeing none from her beloved emperor. She instead decided to send one herself. Although waiting for the reply would be painful.
"Akashi-san, how are you? Is your health alright? I heard you've been overworking."
Nice and short, she practically let her distress scream out loud. She put her cell away, going back to the book in her hand.
------------------------------------
She left after purchasing quite some books, it was her birthday after all. Treating herself wouldn't hurt her that much. She hummed walking back home, but bumped into something. She blinked after recovering from her stumble, the space ahead was empty.
"Hello Mar-san." She heard a monotoned voice right at her side. The unexpectancy and the suddenness of the voice made her jump. She calmed down as she saw a familiar baby blue color. She smiled bowing in the direction.
"Hello Kuroko-kun, forgive me for not noticing you before." She said.
"It's alright." He said maintaining a blank tone. A little bark could be heard, and Nigou trotted up nudging against her leg. His blue eyes, which looked very identical to Kuroko, shined as he barked and wagged his tail.
"Ohh, you're walking Nigou I see." She said and cooed at the little puppy.
"Yes. Also I'm meeting with the others at the street court." He said. The others referred to his high school friend Kagami Taiga, as well the other members of the Generation of Miracles as well as Kuroko, 6 very talented basketball players that attended Teiko Middle school. Mar met them throughout her middle school years, that's where she met Akashi; and although they were hard years she had grown very fond of the boy. Which turned into love.
The boy nodded, "Oh. By the way Happy Birthday Mar-san." He said bowing, his blank facade breaking slightly as a tiny, friendly smile showed in his face. She smiled back, feeling a wave of happiness.
"Thank you Kuroko-kun, um also," Her fingers fidgeted together and her cheeks let the tiniest blush appear.
"Have you heard from Akashi-san?" She asked timidly. The boy thought for a minute only to shake his head.
"Unfortunately not. Is there something wrong?" He asked.
"He's been overworking, and not contacting me. I'm just worried." She said, a downcast expression on her features.
"Hm, I'm sure he's fine with you around. Usually he does act stubborn about his health sometimes, but he loves you enough to not push his health." Kuroko explained. Mar blushed even more, her cheeks now fully tinted red. It made Kuroko let out a tiny chuckle.
"Thank you Kuroko-kun." She bowed gratefully.
"You're welcome Mar-san. Then I'll be leaving now." He gave one nod of his head and started walking, bidding good bye. Mar huffed when he was out of her sight, and resumed her walk to her own home.
"You better at least take a break Bakashi." She mumbled under her breath.
------------------------------------------
The evening came, the night sky rolled in just after the sunset. Mar sat on her bed, already indulging herself with her new books. Not much activity during her birthday, but she didn't seem to mind. She smiled reading a small intimate scene between two of the protagonists. The words repeated in her brain, the sudden kiss scene reminded her of Akashi once again. She blushed at the thought, shaking her head and trying to focus on her novel. She jolted as soon as she heard her phone rumble on her nightstand. Her mood seemed to have brightened as her eyes layers upon the contact. Akashi had texted her back.
"Hello my love, I'm doing alright. I do have more work piled on me but I'm fine. You don't need to worry. And I'm aware that I missed your birthday today, forgive me. But don't worry, I have a special event planned for you."
As she read through the text she could feel her heart race and her worries melt away. It even skipped, he didn't forget her birthday at all. Even though the text was sufficient; she missed hearing his voice. A part of her wanted him to call, but she dismissed that as being a little selfish. She texted him back, and went to occupy herself with her book.
------------------------------------------------
The next day came the weekend, and Mar ever was glad to have the chance to sleep in. Snuggled into her sheets, she looked very relaxed. Until the loud sound of the doorbell interrupted a very nice dream was having. She growled irritated, trudging down the stairs, still in her pjs. She opened the door, only to see several butlers and maids standing outside of her door. She blinked several times, even rubbing her eyes, but there they stood like an army line.
"Uh..."
"How are you Mar-sama, Akashi-sama has sent us his greetings to you. Also he sent you this.." The tallest of them handed her a letter. Curious, she opened it seeing the familiar scribe.
My love,
I apologize that I can not greet you personally. But I have a lot planned for today. My servants will be handing you these letters, you just have to find them. I'll go easy on you, and say the next letter is near Teiko. Good luck my empress."
Mar read each word carefully, his nicknames for her made her blush heavily. But then she realized this whole letter hunt was like a treasure hunt. She laughed at the very...unique idea her boyfriend had for her. But she decided to play along, but that didn't mean she wasn't disappointed she had to leave home today. She shook her head, an amused smile appearing on her face. The servants bowed to her, before them a limo appeared.
"Akashi-sama arranged it for you. Good luck." He said bowing. She nodded, growing excited she ran and sat inside. As she waited until the limo arrived at Teiko, she felt a small bump in the envelope. She pulled it out, showing a small heart pendant. It looked pretty simple, and made of metal.
"Is this a gift?" She asked, rubbing her thumb along the pendant. She tucked it back in the envelope leaning back and humming in silence.
"Akashi-san what are you planning?"
----------------------------------------
The limo stopped in front of Teiko, the gates closed shut. She peered around trying to see if anyone was there. She didn't see anything, she grew concerned. Glancing around, then seeing another servant standing idly around. She greeted them, and they handed her another letter.
"So now your challenge starts, but before that...
I apologize if I've been neglecting you. I always tried to make sure you were loved but there were always obstacles. But just know that I always try, and you always invade my thoughts.
Now that you have arrived at the place we started. Your journey continues to the place we continually met up. A usual "hangout" spot, as you liked to call it. A place where your mind can wander in a sea of words. There you'll look in the isle of books full of creatures, myths and more, where the stories are unimaginable and uncharted.
Mar immediately recognized the location in one line, her feet immediately running back to the limo.
"Um can you go to the bookstore near Maji Burger please!" She asked the driver. Once again she could feel a tiny bump in the envelope, a little ring. Not as simple as the pendant, but still very beautiful. The object looked familiar, the type of ring, but her mind was already in a mess from this whole treasure hunt. She shrugged tucking it back in the envelope again.
------------------------------------------
They arrived at the location, Mar went in starting to search the shelves. She felt lucky that the store wasn't that busy. She sat down to think for a moment, calculating the meaning behind the last couple of words. Perhaps he was asserting to a certain genre? She hummed, but then her eyes snapped open as she put the pieces together creatures, myths, unimaginable, they were words usually associated with..
"Fantasy." She went up to the second floor. Her eyes scanned the shelves and she saw an envelope sticking from in between two books. Along with that a balloon of her favorite color was tied in the middle. She grabbed it, undoing the knot to reveal his message.
There wasn't a moment where you weren't in my mind. You're an addiction for me, I can never stop thinking of each inch of you. I'm glad we met that day in Teiko.
Now that we have stopped in one of your favorite places. Now is the time, to stop by the place of our first date. Hopefully you can stop by and get yourself something before they close and it's too late.
She envisioned the place once again from what she read. Their first date, she remembered how far he went just for her. She asked for so little but he gave her so much. It was a pretty fancy location as well, a restaurant. She rushed out of the bookstore, the sky now brandishing a sunset. The routine of driving continued. This time the envelope didn't have jewelry but this time an old photo of him and her last year. Back when Akashi was more loving and empathetic, before the ordeal with his emperor eye had started. She was ever glad that he had overcome that, somewhat, she had seen him overcome his struggles. And she gladly stood by his side. Just as she started reminiscing the memory, they already arrived.
--------------------------------------------
The restaurant closed pretty early in general, so when she did enter it was practically empty. She looked around, the sign for her being two balloons. She grabbed the letter from the table.
I'm pretty frustrated with myself for being this late for your special day, but knowing you you would just dismiss it. You're completely understanding to me, and I'm grateful for you. Even back then when I lost myself. I'm grateful to this day, bringing me a person who I can love so much.
Your journey is almost done. For now we go to the present, to place where you saw me become me again. The place where I put my effort, heart, and soul into and you support me 100%.
This time became pretty easy, for she knew what he meant. The basketball court, not just any, the one at Rakuzen. The very school where they entered and attended together. The time where they spent even more together. She spoke to the driver again, leaning back. She seemed tired from the hunt, but each and every handwritten letter he wrote made it worth it. She couldn't be any happier.
--------------------------------------
She stepped through the empty halls of the school, her feet echoing throughout the halls. She clutched the letters in her hand, for some reason her heartbeat increased as she got closer to the gym. As she opened the big doors, her heart nearly jumped out of her chest and she got blinded by a bright light. Her eyes widened as they adjusted, the whole Rakuzen team, even the GoM and others, there to greet her, in the middle he stood like a beacon. Akashi Seijuro stood there, still in his business suit, but he had a dashing smile on his face. Mar felt tears flow down her cheeks as she could feel every positive emotion explode, happiness, excitement, relief.
"Happy Birthday!" They all exclaimed. Akashi only walked up to her, his thumb grazing her cheek.
"And now.." He spoke softly gazing into her eyes, right now he was the old Akashi. The one that first made her heart race.
"I can share the unconditional love I have held in from the hard times in my life. Sharing my struggles, amusement, joy, everything. For that, I have been glad to have met you. Happy Birthday Mar, I love you." He said gently pushing down his lips on hers. The cheers and gags from the group were just mere muffles on her ears as she kissed back the one she missed so much and held dear. They separated gazing into each other's eyes some more, the moment interrupted by a rough voice.
"Oi! When you guys are done staring at each other, can we start the party? Murasakibara's already eyeing the cake!" Aomine called pointing to a very distracted Murasakibara. The scene caused Mar to laugh out loud.
"Thank you everyone for this!" She exclaimed gratefully. She held onto Akashi's hand pulling him back to the group, and the party began. Everyone interacting with each other, an air of joy that went on for hours. Even gifts being given to her, she enjoyed every moment. It made her happier than any other moment in her life. Everyone started clearing out of the gym, going back to their respective homes. Akashi had taken Mar in the limo again, she sat comfortably next to him.
"Hey Akashi-san," She said causing him to hum in response.
"Those little trinkets in the envelopes, those were gifts?" She asked pulling out the pendant and ring. He nodded, taking them from her hand.
"I know you said over and over you didn't want anything extravagant for your birthday. But there's meaning behind these." He said. He first took the pendant, gingerly wrapping it around her neck, and then put the ring on her finger.
"The pendant, with the heart charm symbolizes love and the ring, a promise ring symbolizing the many promises and commitment we had." He said as he took her hand and held it firmly. She blushed heavily, once again she could feel her eyes burn. His voice sounded so sincere and so loving, it's been awhile since he's been like this. She took in some deep breaths, and smiled at him.
"Thank you Akashi-san." She said.
"I think, I would like it better if you called me by my first name." He whispered closing in near her face.
"S-Seijuro-san..." Her voice turned shaky.
He smirked, "That's better, happy birthday my empress." Were his last words before his lips crashed upon hers again. Truly the best day to have ever happened for her.
