Chapter 35: Epilogue: A Match Ignites

Jiang Cheng flushed, a shy smile on his face. "Yes."

~WEI YING'S POV~

"LAN ZHAN! LAN ZHANNN!" Wei Ying screeched as he burst into the Jingshi. His face was flushed, and a look of joy crossed his face. He was panting, doubling over with his hands on his knees. "You won't believe what just happened!"

Lan Zhan arched a brow at him, already used to his husband's antics. "What is it?"

"Oh it was so romantic! Granted Zewu Jun was awkward as hell about it, but it's the thought that counts! Oh you should've seen it Lan Zhan... petals blowing in the wind as candles lit up the night... and he even made a bowl of lotus and pork rib soup! Oh my god, you should've seen the blush on Jiang Cheng's face! He looked like a lovestruck maiden!"

"Hm?" Lan Zhan asked, confusion clear in his eyes.

"Oh Lan Zhan... my darling little sister," Wei Ying sniffled, wiping away the tears that had formed in his watery eyes. "Lan Zhan I can't believe it... my Cheng Cheng is getting married," he wailed, flopping on the bed in misery.

"My baby sister has grown so big," he let out a loud sob, "He's already engaged!"

Lan Zhan's eyes narrowed and he gave a stiff nod. "As long as brother is happy," he murmured, with a resigned sigh.

Noticing his discomfort, Wei Ying immediately grabbed him, gently shaking his shoulders. "You aren't mad are you?"

"I-"

"Lan Zhan. We've talked about this. Jiang Cheng is my brother, and I won't let anyone- even you, ruin his happy day. Zewu Jun and Jiang Cheng are a good match, and they genuinely love each other. I want you to be happy for them, so if you're still being blinded by past grievances, then please get over them. I will not let you ruin this moment for him. You hear me Lan Zhan? You will not fuck up my brother's wedding day. Or you can stay celibate forever." Wei Ying looked at his beloved, hoping he could see the sincerity in his eyes. He meant it.

Wei Ying wasn't going to let Jiang Cheng get hurt again- not even by his own future brother in law. If Lan Zhan was going to be a grumpy prick about it, then Wei Ying was going to slap some sense into him. There was no way he could stop Lan Zhan from attending his brother's wedding, but he'd be damned if he let anyone spoil Jiang Cheng's happy mood.

He stared at Lan Zhan. "You know I love you right? But Jiang Cheng is my brother. I don't want you two being so grumpy all the time. And it's already a compromise on Jiang Cheng's part to even let us attend this wedding, so don't be a prick and ruin it for him."

Lan Zhan huffed, nodding his head in defeat. "Alright," he consented, lowering his head in shame. "I'll try."

A brilliant grin stretched across Wei Ying's face, "Have I ever told you how much I love you?" he murmured, throwing himself into his husband's waiting arms.

"Yes. But I want to hear it again."

Wei Ying giggled, a beam stretching from ear to ear, "Well I love you."

A smug grin tugged at the corners of Lan Zhan's face. "Show me."

Wei Ying gasped, startled as he glanced at his husband. "How shameless!" he murmured, moving to straddle him. "Your uncle would be horrified!"

Lan Zhan didn't answer, quickly tugging off their robes before trailing his fingers down Wei Ying's milky white chest. He leaned down, taking a pink nub in his mouth. Gently swirling his tongue across, he kneaded Wei Ying's rounded backside.

"LAN ZHAN!" he screamed, when he felt a finger slip into his tight heat. Lan Zhan made love to him nearly everyday, and he was very well acquainted with Wei Ying's body. He worked him like a string, nimble fingers crooking upwards to find that sweet spot, deep inside his wet sheath. Wei Ying felt his thighs trembling as black dots appeared in his vision. Another finger joined the first. Then three fingers started working into him, scissoring and plunging deep inside him.

A scream fell past his lips when a hand gently rubbed the head of his erection. "Lan Zhan..." he moaned, hips flexing as he tried to bury his husband's fingers even deeper. "Fuck..."

Lan Zhan's breaths came in quick, short bursts as he slowly laid Wei Ying on the bed before coming up to tower over him. A strangled sound made it's way past his throat when he pressed in between those reddened cheeks.

"LAN ZHAN!" Wei Ying whimpered, pleasure surging through him.

Lan Zhan held him down, hips slowly flexing upwards as he pounded into Wei Ying. "FUCK!" he screamed when Lan Zhan hit his sweet spot. A wave of pleasure swept over him and another scream came ripping out of him.

"Lan Zhan..." he muttered, arms wrapping around his husband when he finally collapsed on top of him. "I love you so fucking much."

--------

Wei Ying hobbled his way over to Jiang Cheng, pushing aside the various other sect leaders, crowding around the happy couple. "Zewu Jun," he murmured, giving a quick bow to the jade, "I'll be borrowing Jiang Cheng for a moment."

"Hey! What do you want with Mama?" Jingyi piped up, wrapping an arm around his mother possessively. He narrowed his eyes, glaring at Wei Ying before he grabbed Jiang Cheng's hand, "Mama, you're not actually going to go with him, are you?"

Jiang Cheng sighed. "I don't really think I have a choice."

"You don't," Wei Ying chirped happily, dragging him away from his family. He ruffled Jiang Cheng's hair, congratulating his brother on his marriage. A small tear slipped down his cheek as he looked at Jiang Cheng with pride. Nearly a year had past since Zewu Jun first announced their engagement, and Wei Ying couldn't be happier now that the day was finally here.

It had taken almost six months of nonstop preparation to get to this moment. Lan Qiren had been beside himself with the wedding decorations, pestering his nephew incessantly. Even Wei Ying had pitched in, nearly driving himself crazy trying to find the perfect dress for Jiang Cheng. It had taken seventeen tries, but the end result was well worth the effort.

Lan Zhan had written out all the invites, and disciples rushed about, struggling to put the finishing touches on their Sect Leader's long overdue wedding. Even in a little town like Caiyi- rumors spread like wildfire, as the people were left speechless, with glee bubbling up in their hearts. Lotus Pier celebrated, joyful smiles on the faces of its disciples. And the cultivational world was in shock.

The fearsome Sandu Shengshou was getting married- and to Zewu Jun no less! The harsh and unforgiving Sect Leader Jiang, had somehow managed to score the number one bachelor of his generation!

Wei Ying snorted. How ironic.

"You fucker, let go of me," Jiang Cheng hissed, removing himself from his brother's grasp. "You're ruining my hair!"

Wei Ying arched a brow, another tear slipping down his cheek as a strong sense of nostalgia washed over him. Jiang Cheng looked beautiful. His wedding dress was a bright red, with lotus flowers decorating the trim. Cloud patterns adorned his veil, and a golden peony weaved it's way around Jiang Cheng's side. His hair was braided, tied with a satin band. The Jiang bell that usually hung at his side was gone- a blue forehead ribbon in its place.

Wei Ying felt another string of tears slip down his face. He looked so much like Jiang Yanli.

Jiang Cheng's face softened when he saw the longing in his eyes, and he put a gentle hand on Wei Ying's shoulder. "I know..." he whispered, a gruff note to his voice, "I miss her too."

"You look just like her," Wei Ying responded, teary eyed with snot dripping down his nose. "She would be so proud..."

A complicated look flickered on Jiang Cheng's face, "You think so?"

"Yea. So would Madame Yu and Uncle Jiang. They would be so pleased with the way this wedding turned out."

"Really?"

Wei Ying smiled, laying a hand on his brother's shoulder. "You know they always loved you right? You were their pride and joy- even if they never showed it."

Jiang Cheng scoffed, "That was you."

"No." Wei Ying sobered, grabbing his brother's shoulder. He made sure to look Jiang Cheng straight in the eyes before he spoke. "They loved you. You were their son- how could they not love you? There's a reason why the last words Uncle Jiang ever said to me- was to protect you. He didn't tell me to run away and keep myself safe. He told me to look after you, to make sure you survived this. In his last moments, Jiang Fengmian wanted me to stay by his sons side, to make sure that you were alright. He might've loved me in his own way, but you were his family Jiang Cheng. You were his own flesh and blood. How could he possibly choose me over you?"

"I-"

"And Madam Yu too. She left Zidian to you. She made me promise to keep you safe- to guard you with my life. She might not have been the best at expressing her feelings, but she loved you. You were her son. What mother doesn't love her own child?"

"I was always her biggest disappointment..." Jiang Cheng murmured, shaking his head as he trailed off in shame. "I was never good enough."

"Yes you were. You were good enough. You just never saw it," Wei Ying snapped, temper rising. "You're Sandu fucking Shengshou, one of the strongest cultivators out there. You're Jiang Cheng, the Sect Leader of the Yunmeng Jiang Sect. You're the man who managed to rebuild his sect from the ashes, the man who raised Yunmeng Jiang back from the dead. You managed to save your sect from near extinction, and brought it back up to become a major sect. Do you know how hard that is? For a sect that was completely wiped out to rise- like a phoenix from the ashes? In 13 years, a nineteen year old boy was able to rebuild his home. In 13 years, a nineteen year old boy became one of the fiercest leaders in the whole cultivational world. In 13 years, a nineteen year old boy carved out a legacy that anyone can only dream of. In 13 fucking years, you- Sandu Shengshou, managed to raise two kids, find a husband, and assemble a sect. That's something that most people would spend their whole lives trying to do! And you were able to do it as a nineteen year old!"

Jiang Cheng recoiled as if he had been slapped. "That was my duty."

Wei Ying narrowed his eyes, an old anger flaring up inside him. How long had he spent trying to make his brother see his worth? How long had he spent telling Jiang Cheng that he's one of the strongest people he knew? And how long had Jiang Cheng refused to believe him- thinking that it was nothing worth priding himself on?

"You fucking listen to me right now Jiang Cheng. Duty? Well guess what. It was my duty to stay true to Yunmeng Jiang. It was my duty to kill those Wen dogs. It was my duty to protect you and stay by your side! Look how well that turned out! It might've been your duty to lead the Jiang Sect, but nobody actually expected you to succeed! Especially all by yourself, with no one there to help you. If resurrecting a sect was that easy- then why hasn't anyone else done it? Why aren't the Wen's back on the rise? Why hasn't any of the minor sects actually ascended to the position of a major sect? Why is Qinghe Nie still in shambles and reeling after Chi-Feng Zun's death? Because it's hard dammit! You did the fucking impossible- you went above and beyond what was expected of you! When Lotus Pier was burned, people thought that you wouldn't be able to ever recover. And then when you did, they thought that you would just stay a minor sect forever- they believed that your days of influence were gone. And you proved them all wrong! You didn't just rebuild Yunmeng Jiang- you improved it. You somehow dragged it back from certain death and instead of just keeping it alive- you let it flourish. Why don't you understand? You're fucking worth it! I know it, Zewu Jun knows it, hell even Lan Zhan knows it!"

Jiang Cheng's jaw dropped in shock, "W-What? Lan Wangji what?!"

Wei Ying rolled his eyes. "I shouted my throat hoarse and that was all you got from that?"

"I-" Jiang Cheng stopped, tears dripping down his face, "I- Thank you," he muttered, lowering his eyes to the ground. "I needed to hear that."

Wei Ying smiled, gently patting Jiang Cheng's shoulder. "I know. So stop always holding yourself back."

Jiang Cheng gave him a shaky smile, "I have to go."

"Remember what I said."

His brother paused before giving a decisive nod. "I will."

A brilliant smile lit up Wei Ying's face as he watched his brother go. The road to recovery was still long, and it would be a long time before Jiang Cheng could be certain of his own worth. But he was sure that this was a step in the right direction.

One day, Jiang Cheng would be able to look at himself in the mirror and not feel inferior and unworthy.

One day, his brother would be able to take hits to his ego, would allow himself to be teased and taunted.

One day, the broken little pieces of Sandu Shengshou's heart would finally mend itself, and Jiang Cheng would finally be free of himself.

One day, one day very soon.

Wei Ying beamed, a sense of contentment washing over him. When he was sixteen, he never really cared much for anything- always mocking and playful. He always had this smug smile on his face, and a teasing grin in his voice. And then everything had changed. Lotus Pier had burned down, and his whole world had toppled right before his eyes. He had felt himself receding, curling up in his shell. He had taken the Wens, and because of that- the next three years of his life had been living hell. He had been broken and beaten, and a sense of yearning filled him. He never knew what he was longing for- only knew that he ached for it with his very soul. It took him dying and coming back to life for him to finally realize that this, this right here?

This was what he had been searching for all along.
