"Alright guys," Sam, the trip leader clapped his hands together in order to get everyone's attention.
They had arrived at the hiking trail and were currently standing on some boulders. Diya looked up, watching how the trail disappeared up the mountain.
"Welcome to the beginning of our trip. Before we begin the trek, I'm going to need to split you guys into two teams and I'm going to need two team captains. Any volunteers?"
Immediately Zayn and Jai's hands shoot up, both of them grinning cheekily.
"Come on up." Sam gestured and they both stood up.
"I'll go first." Jai said quickly. "I choose Kiara."
Kiara grinned and ran up to him. Diya knew very well that Kiara would've ended him if he hadn't chosen her first.
Diya focused her attention back on the two guys. Zayn stood with his hands in his pockets and he scanned the group of people.
His eyes landed on Diya, a small smile tugging at his lips and she felt her heart race-
"I choose Neha."
Diya's smile faded, heat rushing to her cheeks in embarrassment.
Who the hell was Neha?
That question was soon answered when a girl stepped out from behind her and made her way towards Zayn. Her shorts revealed the milky skin of her legs and her crop top emphasized her curves. She swung her hips confidently as she strode upwards and Diya felt like kicking her in the shin.
She crossed her arms in front of her chest, sighing.
Zayn took Neha's hand, his signature smirk on his lips and she felt bile rise in her throat.
She wasn't jealous. No, not at all. There was nothing to be jealous of. The girl looked like she lacked a large amount of brain cells just by how she was giggling at the stupidest things Zayn said.
Diya just felt like her and Zayn had gotten along last night and that he was going to stick by her since this was her first time doing something like this. Was it wrong that she wanted his attention to be focused solely on her?
She frowned.
"We choose Diya." Kiara said loudly, capturing her attention.
She adjusted the straps of her backpack and began following everyone up the trail.
"You okay?" Kiara asked, her eyes full of concern.
She must have noticed the deep frown still etched on her lips.
"Yeah, thanks. Just a little nervous about this is all."
Kiara focused her attention back on Jai, leaving Diya to sulk by herself.

Zayn rested his back against a tree as he took a sip from his water bottle. He then poured the cool water over his face and head, helping himself cool off a bit.
He then pulled a cigarette out from where he had it stored behind his ear and placed it in his mouth. He took his lighter out of his pocket, bringing the flame to the tip of the cigarette and inhaled deeply.
Neha groaned next to him and he noticed that she was sitting down now.
"What's wrong?" Zayn asked.
"My feet hurt." She pouted.
Zayn had to admit that Neha wasn't the best person to be hanging out with since she had the brains of a 4 year old but she was cute, so there was that.
"I could give you a piggy back ride, baby." He suggested, slowly exhaling a cloud of smoke.
When she grinned, he threw his cigarette to the floor and stomped on it. Next he gave her his backpack and she slipped it on before hopping onto his back with a giggle.
She wrapped her legs around his waist and held onto him tightly as he began walking. She was light, but walking uphill with the extra weight was probably not a good idea. He was beginning to run out of breath which Neha obviously didn't notice.
"Who's that up there?" She asked suddenly.
He lifted his head a bit, looking over at whoever Neha was pointing to.
A familiar head of brown hair caught his eye, walking farther up the trail than everyone else. He laughed in shock.
"I'm gonna go find out, yeah?" He told her breathlessly.
She hopped down from his back to which Zayn let out a breath of relief.
"Do you need your bag?" She asked, pouting slightly.
"Oh right." He held out his hand and she slid it off her shoulders before handing it to him.
Before Neha could say anything else, he was rushing up the trail in order to catch up with Diya.
"Diya!" He called once he was close enough.
She quickly turned to look over her shoulder and she shot him a glare before speeding up.
He was panting now as he began jogging. "Diya!" He tried again. "Wait for a second will you?"
Finally she stopped and she turned around to face him. "What?" She snapped.
"Jesus Christ what do you run track or something?" He bent down, resting his hands on his knees as he fought to get air in his lungs. "You're like a fucking cheetah."
She rolled her eyes, not in the mood for any of his idiocy. "Did you need something?"
He stood up straight, his lips curving into a smile at how sassy she was being. "What, I can't talk to you now?"
"Oh I don't know. I'm pretty sure you prefer talking to whatever her name is."
Ah, there it was.
She began walking again, slower this time and Zayn followed.
"You jealous babe?" He couldn't help smirking.
"Please," she scoffed, pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose. "Why would I be jealous of her?"
"I dunno." His smile grew. "You tell me. Why don't you like her?"
"I'm not jealous, Zayn. I'm just..." She huffed in frustration and Zayn's eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"You're just what?" He teased.
"Nothing. Forget it." She sped up again, trying to get away from him and his stupid smirk.
"Hey come on! He yelled, going after her. "What are you trying to prove by walking faster than everyone?" He asked.
"I just want to be first is all." She shrugged, continuing up the trail.
"Is always being first that important to you?"
"I like winning." She admitted.
"I know that. You always came in first for everything at school. Can you at least let me be first here?" He begged.
She stopped completely, turning around to face him.
"It's your fault for being too busy giving girls piggy back rides to girls. You could've easily gotten ahead of me."
"It's called flirting you know?" His smirk returned. "Just having a bit of fun is all."
She placed her hands on her hips, not amused. "Uh huh."
"Oh don't give me that judgy look." He held up a finger at her. "You know I can't flirt with girls like you, so I have to make do with what I get." He mumbled, sliding his hands into his pockets.
She raised her eyebrows. "What do you mean by girls like me ?"
"Girls like you aren't the type one flirts with. You're the type of girl one falls in love with."
Diya's breath caught in her throat, heat rushing to her cheeks.
As if she weren't already on the verge of dying, Zayn leaned closer and she felt like slapping herself when she let her eyes wander down to his lips.
"And falling in love, isn't good for my health." He added in a whisper.
She felt a lump in her throat as her eyes met his. Then he smiled that breathtaking smile and of course she was done for.
What did he even mean by that?
"Zayn's allergic to love, marriage, and commitment honestly." Kiara spoke up suddenly.
Zayn and Diya hadn't even realized that she'd caught up with them. And not too far behind her was Jai.
"It's true." Jai chuckled.
"I mean, why be with someone for so long if you're eventually going to get tired of them? It's boring." Zayn said casually.
"You think love and marriage are boring?" Diya asked, shocked by his point of view.
"Think of it this way. If I make you eat the same food for lets say 50 years, would you be able to?"
"What in God's name does that even mean?"
He laughed. "I'm saying that marriage is like eating the same type of food until you die. You should mix it up you know?"
"I can't believe you." she snapped. "That's a stupid logic. How will you know if you never try?"
"It's better to not do it all rather than getting a divorce like 5 times." Zayn shrugged.
"Is he serious?" Diya asked Kiara. "Tell me he's not serious."
Kiara started cracking up. "I'm gonna stay mute."
"And what if you want kids?" she raised an eyebrow.
"What does that have to do with marriage? We can make those right now." He winked and for the millionth time, heat rose to Diya's cheeks.
Soon after, Jai hit Zayn upside the head.
"I'm seriously so done with you right now." She shook her head at him and began walking away.
Zayn groaned, rubbing his head where Jai had hit him. He'd get him back for that later. But right now, he was trying to figure out how the hell Diya was so fast.
Kiara and Jai fell behind again and Zayn grabbed onto Diya's arm, causing her to turn around.
"I was just joking, I'm sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable." He said sincerely.
She spluttered in frustration, looking like she was about to hit him.
"Just hear me out, will you? About what I asked earlier, can you please just let me walk ahead of you so I can get to the end of the trail?"
Her eyes softened. "Why is it so important to you?" She asked curiously.
"Just how doing well in school was important for you, being the first one to get to the end of the trail is important for me. We all have goals don't we?"
This clearly meant a lot to him, something she had yet to understand. But she still said, "Okay, you can go ahead of me."

Gah first of all I'm sorry for taking forever to update. I was having a bit of writer's block and I was also very lazy so yeah, you can yell at me.
I kind of combined two iconic parts from the movie into one and I hope it wasn't terrible. It's terrible isn't it? IMdkdkfd don't hate me!!
It's surprising that people are actually liking this though. I've gotten some really nice comments on the previous chapters. You guys are awesome, I love you.
