Chapter 11- Back Home

The dragon hissed, holding his bloody eye with one claw. His flying was a mess, completely unable to fly in a straight line, or maintain a steady altitude. He had to take rests from time to time to heal his eye with the little medical knowledge he had.
But finally, after days and days of struggling to get here, he saw his destination.
Landing on the ground again, he padded in a wide circle around the kingdom, all the way to the back where his chamber was. At the sight of the massive dragon, two soldiers guarding the large metal doors leaped into action, pulling the doors open. Due to the material, the doors were heavy, and two guards weren't enough to open it quickly. Growing impatient, the dragon growled angrily, yanking the doors open himself and flinging the two guards away. Stalking in, he sat down on his makeshift bed, a bunch of blankets lining with feathers and the fur of his kills.
The room was illuminated by torches on the wall, but even with the sheer amount of them, it did little to light up the dreary mood. The large chamber was littered with metal chains and blood stains, as it was and still is a prison for those whom oppose the king.
The dragon lifted his head to the sound of a door creaking open. The door farthest away from him opened, and the king, with several medics after him, filed out, walking rather calmly down the rusting stairs. The doctors rushed to him, and the firedrake lowered his head to allow them to work on his scratched eye.
The king hummed lightly and stopped in front of him.
"I assume it didn't go well?"
With a sigh, he responded with a growly "No".
Helgrind mimicked his sigh, but it was a disappointed sigh. "You've failed me, Lieutenant."
Eyeing him with his good eye, the lieutenant rubbed his claws on the concrete floor, forgetting about his ruined knuckle scales. "It wasn't a fair fight. It was 2 against 1."
"ONLY 2?"
The dragon jumped at the king's disbelieving roar.
"Al, you are my most trusted soldier. I don't expect you to fail me again. As soon as you're healed, I want want you to crush them like the bugs they are."
"But," Al interjected, wincing at a medication the medics put in his wound. "I have a better idea. Of course, if you allow me to explain."
A wide smile spread across Helgrind's face.
"Please, continue."
