Chapter 3

The first day of school had arrived, Chloe's family and the Weasley's were going together. They were now walking through King's Cross trying to get to 9 and 3/4. Corey had Clover in a cage, and Chloe had Dizzy in a cage, neither was too happy about it. They had to put curtains over the cage, so muggles wouldn't get freaked out. In her suitcase, Chloe had also managed to pack wand woods, along with wand cores, and so-wand-making tools. She was determined to get one made for Ron, no matter how much of a fuss he made of it.

"It's always crowded," Mum noticed.

"And packed with muggles of course," Mrs. Weasley added. "What platform again?"

"Nine and three-quarters!" piped Ginny.  "Mom, can't I go..."

"You're not old enough, Ginny, now be quiet."

"One more year darling," Derek said as Carvell and Milford went right through the wall followed by Derek.

"All right, Percy, take your turn," Mrs. Weasley instructed. Percy lined up properly and went right through. "Fred, you next."

"I'm not Fred, I'm George," said the Fred. "Honestly, woman, you call yourself our mother? Can't you tell I'm George?"

"Sorry, George, dear," Mrs. Weasley apologized.

"Only joking, I am Fred," Fred laughed as he went off, followed by George, Corey, and Cody.

"Excuse me," a familiar voice said, they looked over, Chloe was happy to see Harry again.

"Are you lost, dear?" Mom asked.

"Uh, yes," Harry answered.

"First time at Hogwarts?" Molly asked. "Ron and Chloe are new, too."

"That's him," Chloe whispered to Ron as Harry looked at him.

"Who," Ron whispered.

"Don't react," Chloe whispered. "But's Harry." His eyes started to go wide.

"The thing is--the thing is, I don't know how to--" Harry stumbled.

"How to get on the platform?" Mom asked, Harry nodded.

"Not to worry," Ms. Weasley assured. "All you have to do is walk straight at the barrier between platforms nine and ten. Don't stop and don't be scared you'll crash into it, that's very important. Best to do it at a bit of a run if you're nervous. Go on, go now before Ron." Harry started to do as Mrs. Weasley instructed, staring at the wall.

"Good luck," Ginny wished him.

"Thanks," Harry nodded at her, he then started to jog going right through the wall.

"What were you two whispering about?" Ginny asked.

"According to Clo, that was Harry Potter just now," Ron informed.

"Really?!" Ginny gasped. "Mom can I--"

"For the last time, no Ginny," Mrs. Weasley cut her off. "Now, Ron." Soon Ron and the rest of the Weasleys went.

"Ready?" Mom asked looking at Chloe.

"Yeah," Chloe nodded. "Just a bit nervous."

"Don't be," Mom said. "You are going to be just fine at Hogwarts, let's go...together." Chloe nodded, touched her back. "Now." The two ran right through the wall. The sight never gets old, Chloe remembers all the times she bid her siblings goodbye for school. A scarlet steam engine, packed with people. People screamed carriages packed, people said goodbye to their families. Chloe was able to take the curtain off, and take Dizzy out of her cage, she rested on Chloe's shoulder. They were now on the platform. Clover was banging to get out.

"If we let you out now, you are going to cause nothing but chaos on the platform," Carvell informed. Clover laughed, and rubbed his hands together. "The minute we get on the train, we can let you out...but only if you agree to be good." Clove put its hands behind his back and nodded.

"Fred? George?" Mrs. Weasley called out.

"Corey? Cody?" Mom called out.

"Coming!" the four voices rang as they hopped off the train.

"Ron, you go something on your nose," Mrs. Weasley informed as she took out a handkerchief.

"Chloe, your eyes are light blue and your hair is starting to turn that color," Mom informed.

"Sorry," Chloe breathed as she took in deep breaths, in the reflection she saw her hair starting to go back together.

"Mom," Ron groaned as he wriggled free.

"Aaah, has ickle Ronnie got somefink on his nose?" asked George.

"Shut up," grunted Ron.

"Where's Percy and Derek?" Mrs. Weasley asked.

"Here they come," Mom said as she looked up. Her other Carvell and Milford were with them. Carvell and Milford were head boys together. Both Percy and Derek had a prefect badge.

"Can't stay long," Derek informed. "We are upfront."

"The prefects have gotten two compartments to themselves--" Percy added.

"Oh, you are a prefect, Percy?" asked Fred.

"You should have something," Corey added.

"Hang on, I think I remember him saying something about it," Fred said. "Once..."

"Or twice..."

"A minute..."

"All Summer..."

"Oh, shut up," Percy ordered.

"How come Percy gets new robes, anyway?" asked Fred.

"Because he's a prefect," Mom said fondly. "All right, dear, well, have a good term---send me an owl when you get there." Mrs. Weasley kissed Percy on the cheek as Derek kissed his mom on the cheek, the two then left.

"Now, you two-this year, you behave yourselves. If I get one more owl telling me you've blown up a toilet--" Mrs. Weasley began.

"Or turn into Professor Dumbledore," Mom added.

"Blown up a toilet?" George asked. "We've never blown up a toilet."

"Great idea though, thanks, Mom," Fred added.

"It's not funny," Mrs. Weasley scolded.

"That to turn into Dumbledore is an idea," Corey said. "Cody?"

"Maybe I'll turn into Filch next," Cody thought about it.

"Boys," Mom warned.

"Look after Ron and Chloe," the two ordered.

"Don't worry, ickle Ronnie is safe with us," the Weasley twins assured.

"Shut up," Ron groaned again.

"And Lola is safe with us," Cody and Corey assured.

"Please don't use that nickname in public," Chloe requested. "It's embarrassing."

"As you wish, Lola," Corey nodded, she groaned.

"Hey, Mom, guess what? Guess who we met on the train?" Fred said.

"You know that black-haired boy who was near us in the station?" George asked. "Know who he is?"

"Harry Potter!" they exclaimed.

"Chloe was saying that was him," Mom recalled.

"Oh, Mom, can I at least go on the train and see him, Mom, oh please..." Ginny pleaded.

"You've already seen him, Ginny, and the poor boy isn't something you goggle at the zoo," Mom scolded. "Fred, Chloe...How do you know it's him?"

"We met at the wand shop," Chloe answered. "Grandpa knew who he was right away."

"Asked him," Fred answered. "Saw his scar. It's really there--like lightning."

"Poor dear," Mrs. Weasley cooed. "No wonder he was alone, I wondered. He was ever so polite when he asked how to get onto the platform."

"Never mind that. Do you think he remembers what You-Know-Who looks like?" Fred asked.

"I forbid you to ask him, Fred," Mrs. Weasley grew stern. "No, don't you dare. As though he needs reminding of that on his first day at school."

"All right, keep your hair on," Fred said. A whistle sounded.

"Hurry up!" Mom urged. All of them clambered onto the train.

"Don't cry, Ginny, we'll send you loads of owls," Milford assured.

"We'll send you a Hogwarts toilet seat," George added.

"George!" Mrs. Weasley shouted.

"Only joking, Mom," George said. The train started moving, they all waved. Ginny started running with tears in her eyes. She eventually fell back as the train went around the corner. They all separated to go find their seats.

"Would you turn into Dumbledore?" Ron asked.

"If it comes to it, then maybe," Chloe said. "But I'm the first year, I doubt I will."

"How about for fun?" Ron asked.

"Uh--how about here?" Chloe asked they came upon a compartment as she opened the door, Ron poked his head in.

"Anyone sitting here? Got room for two?" Ron asked. "Everywhere else is full." He then turned to Chloe. "We can come in."

"Oh, Harry!" Chloe greeted as walked in. "Good to see you again." Harry nodded as they sat down, Ron glanced at the boy and then out the window.

"Hey, Ron and Chloe," siblings greeted as they appeared at the door.

George started to speak. "Listen. we're going down the middle of the train--Lee Jordan's got a giant tarantula down there."

"Right," Ron mumbled.

"Chloe," Corey began. "I'm going to be with the twins, Cody is going to be in the same compartment as Eddie Carmichael. You remember him from over the summer?"

"Yeah," Chloe nodded.

"Harry," Fred. "Did we introduce ourselves? Fred and George Weasley. And this is our brother Ron."

"This is Corey and I am Cody Thorne," Cody greeted. "We are Chloe's older brothers. I'm aware that you two have met before."

"Bye," the four said before leaving, the door slid shut.

"Are you really Harry Potter?" Ron blurted out. Harry nodded. "I never doubted you, Chloe, I just thought it could've been one of Fred and George's jokes. Have you really got you to know?" He pointed to Harry's forehead. Harry pulled back his bands. "Wicked. So that;'s where You-Know-Who?"

"Yes," Harry confirmed. "But I can't remember anything?"

"Nothing?" Chloe asked as she tilted her head. Her eyes started to turn green in terms of curiosity.

"I remember a lot of green lightning, but nothing else," Harry answered.

"Wow," Ron breathed, seconds later he looked back out the window.

"Are all your families wizards?" asked Harry.

"Er--yes, I think so," said Ron. "I think Mom's got a second cousin who's an accountant, but we have nothing else."

"Not everyone, on my mom's side we have a couple of non-magical folks that come around," Chloe answered.

"So you must know loads of magic then," Harry said as Dizzy jumped down to the train seat.

"I heard you went to live with Muggles," said Ron. "What are they like in your opinion?"

"Horrible," Harry said. "Well, not all of them. My aunt and uncle and cousin are, though, Wish I'd had wizard brothers."

"Five," Ron groaned. "I'm the sixth in our family to go the Hogwarts. You could say I've got a lot to live up to. Bill and Charlie have already left--Bill was head boy and Charlie Quidditch captain. Now, Percy's a prefect. Fred and George mess around a lot, but they still get really good marks and everyone thinks they're really funny. Everyone expects me to do we as well as the others, but if I do, it's no big deal, because they did it first. You never get anything new, either, with five brothers. I've got Bill's old robes, Charlie's old wand, and Percy's old rat." Ron pulled out the rat. "His name's Scrabbers and he's useless."

"I wouldn't call him useless," Chloe argued as she furrowed her eyes brows.

"He hardly wakes up," Ron argued. "Percy got an owl from my dad for being made prefect, but they can't aff--I mean, I got Scrabbers instead." Harry blinked at Ron in confusion.

"I'm the youngest of seven brothers and the last to go Hogwarts," Chloe informed. "Mom wanted a girl that bad." Harry's eyes went wide. "Let's see...Adam and Travis have graduated already. Adam was Quidditch captain and Travis was a dueling champion. Carvell and Milford are on their last year, both Head boys. Derek is a prefect, Corey and Cody like to cause fun like Fred and George, they get good remarks as well. I got a lot to live up to as well, but as the only girl I do get a chance to sort of make my own mark."

"How did you end up with?" Harry nodded to Dizzy who was sniffing Scrabbers.

"Rescued," Chloe answered. "Found the poor thing sick and injured."

Harry then told them all about growing up at the Dursely's house. "And until Hagrid told, I didn't know anything about being a wizard or about my parents or Voldemort--" The two gasped. "What?"

"If you are trying to be brave, that's cool, but you should really avoid saying his name," Chloe advised.

"I'm shocked and impressed, and of all people to say his name," Ron added.

"I'm not trying to be brave or anything, saying his name," said Harry. "I just never knew you shouldn't. See what I mean? I've got loads to learn...I bet. I bet I'm the worse in the class."

"I'm worried about the same," Chloe admitted. "But you won't be. There are loads of people that come from Muggle families and they learn quick enough."

Soon about half-past twelve, a great clattering came from outside. A smiling woman opened the door. "Anything off the cart, dears?"

"No, thank you," Chloe denied.

"I brought a sandwich," Ron muttered. Harry went out into the corridor. He soon came back with his arms full.

"Hungry, are you?" Ron asked.

"Starving," said Harry as he took a bite of pumpkin pastry. Ron took out a lumpy sandwich as Chloe took a baggie filled with dry cereal, and another one with daisies. Dizzy got excited and scrambled away from Scrabbers.

"She always forgets I don't like corn beef," Ron groaned.

"Swap you for one of these," said Harry as he held up a pastry. "Go on--"

"You don't want this," Ron denied. "It's all dry. She hasn't got much time. With five of us."

"Go on, both of you," Harry insisted as he watched Dizzy happily munch on daisies. They started to eat the pastries. "What are these? They're not real frogs, are they?"

"Oh no," Chloe denied. "But there should be a card inside."

"I'm missing Agrippa," Ron said.

"What?" Harry asked.

"Oh, of course, you wouldn't know--Chocolate Frogs have cards inside them, you know, to collect--famous witches and wizards. I've got about five hundred, but haven't gotten Agrippa, Ptolemy, or Thorne," Ron explained.

"You want my brother's card?" Chloe asked as Harry unwrapped his frog.

"To complete to the collection," Ron stated. "I don't care if he babysat us in the past or not."

"So this is Dumbledore!" Harry exclaimed. He flipped the card around. "He's gone!"

"Can't expect him to hang around all day," said Ron. "He'll be back. No, I've got Morgana again and I've got about six of her...do you want it? You can start collecting."

"You know, in the Muggle world, people just stay in photos," Harry informed.

"Weird," Chloe commented.

They shared their chocolate frogs.

"Adam Thorne," Harry read a card. "This is your brother?"

"Yeah, that's him," Chloe said as she looked over, she held up Dizzy to see. "He went straight to the Magpies after graduating. Excellent player." Harry nodded as he flipped the card to read it.

Soon more time had passed, Dizzy was roaming around the compartment, she was currently on Harry's shoulder looking out the window.

"Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans?" Harry asked as he held up a box.

"They mean every flavor," Chloe warned. "Milford once ate one that tasted like troll boogies according to him."

"There's also chocolate and peppermint," Ron assured. "And there's also spinach, liver, and tripe." Harry's face scrunched in disgust. "George swears he got a bogie-flavored one once." Ron put a green one in his mouth. Bleaaargh---see? Sprouts?" Chloe started laughing. "Sprouts are horrible."

"Only because you don't like them," Chloe said. "They aren't that bad if you know how to make food, plus Dizzy and Clover likes them."

"They are herbivores," Ron reminded him. "I like my meat." Chloe laughed even more. They all tried some beans. Chloe got raspberry, sprouts, dirt, mocha, and toffee.

"So do you know any spells?" Harry asked with hope.

"I know simple potions, spells not so much," Chloe admitted.

"Fred gave me a spell that's to turn him to yellow," Ron informed as he gestured to Scrabbers. "Want to see?"

"Yeah," Harry quickly agreed.

Ron rummage through his trunk, pulling out a wand. "Unicorn hair's nearly poking out. Anyway..." He coughed and started to do a spell when a girl with bushy hair and a round-faced boy with a tear-stained face.

"Have any of you seen a toad?" the girl asked. "Neville's lost one. The three shook their heads.

"I've lost him!" Neville wailed, this caused Dizzy to jump right across and into Chloe's lap. "He keeps getting away from me!"

"I'm sure he'll turn up," Chloe assured as she tried to calm Dizzy down.

"Oh, are you doing magic?" the other girl asked. "Let's see then."

"Ahem," Ron coughed. Chloe scooted over and patted next to her, Neville sat next to her. "Sunshine, Daisies, Butter Mellow, Turn this stupid fat rat yellow." Dizzy looked over at the mention of daisies, and the spell did nothing.

"Are sure that's a real spell?" Hermione asked. "It's not very good, is it?" Ron and Harry looked at each other.

"I think Fred gave you a fake spell," Chloe suspected.

"That bloody jerk!" Ron exclaimed. "I knew better to trust him."

"I've only tried a few simple ones myself, but they've all worked for me," the girl said as she pulled out her wand and placed Dizzy on her shoulder.

Chloe took the wand from Hermione and examined it. "Vinewood, dragon heartstring, and ten inches and a quarter."

"How did know that?" Neville sniffed as Hermione took her wand back.

"My grandpa was sure to teach me everything he knew about a wand, from the wood to the core," Chloe answered as Hermione took a seat in Ron's old spot.

Hermione pointed her wand at Harry's glasses. "Oculus Reparo." In an instant, Harry's glasses were fixed. "Nobody in my family's magic at all." Harry took off his glasses to examine them. "It was ever such a surprise when I got my letter, but I was ever so pleased, of course, I mean, it's the very best school of witchcraft there is, I've heard--I've learned all our course books by heart, of course. I just hope it will be enough. Holy Cricke! You are Harry Potter! I'm Hermione Granger."

"Neville Longbottom," Neville sniffed.

"I'm Chloe Thorne," Chloe introduced herself.

"And you are?" Hermione asked looking at Ron.

"I'm Ron Weasley," Ron said with a mouthful.

"Pleasure," Hermione said with disgust. "Do either of you know what house you'll be in? I've been asking around, and I hope in Gryffindor, it sounds the far best; I hear Dumbledore was in it, but I supposed Ravenclaw wouldn't be too bad."

"I'm unsure," Chloe admitted. "I want to be with my brothers, but I know Hufflepuff would be best for Dizzy and Clover since it's underground like a burrow. But Ravenclaw has always been intriguing to me."

Hermione smiled at Chloe, before changing the subject. " You three better change into your robes. I expect we'll be arriving soon." Neville followed Hermione out the door.

"Whatever house I'm in, I hope she's not," wished Ron, he looked at Chloe. "I hope we get the same house."

"That would be cool," Chloe nodded.

"What houses are your brothers in?" Harry asked.

"All of mine are in Gryffindor," Ron gloomed. "Mom and dad were in it, too. I don't know what they'll say if I'm not. I don't suppose Ravenclaw would be too bad, but imagine if they put me in Slytherin."

"You trusted a spell from Fred," Chloe reminded him. "Ravenclaw may not be for you."

"Ravenclaw may not be for you," Ron mocked.

"Slytherin is that the house...You-Know-Who was in?" Harry asked.

"Yep," Ron and Chloe confirmed.

"So what do your brothers do now that they left Hogwarts?" Harry asked.

"Well, as you know Adam is a quidditch player for Montrose Magpies. Travis on the other is unsure at the moment. He got high marks, but for the time being he's helping at my grandpa's wand shop in Hogsmeade."

"Charlies in Romania studying dragons, and Bill's in Africa doing something for Gringotts," said Ron. "He's a curse breaker. What's your Quidditch team?"

"Er---I don't know any," confessed Harry.

"What?!" Ron asked looking dumbfounded. "Oh, you wait, it's the best game in the world." Ron and Chloe explained quidditch to Harry.

"My favorite teams are Ballycastle Bats and Montrose Magpies because of my brother," Chloe informed.

"Mines the Chudly Cannons," Ron answered. "They haven't been doing good, but a great team."

The door opened, Chloe looked over to see Draco Malfoy walk in with two others boys.

"Is it true?" Draco asked. "They're saying all down the train that Harry Potter's in this compartment. So it's you, is it?"

"Yes," Harry answered.

"Draco, who are your friends?" Chloe asked.

"Oh, Chloe," Draco greeted as he looked at her, Ron noticed Draco's eyes light up. "this is Crabbe and Goyle." He turned to Harry. "And my name's Malfoy, Draco Malfoy." Ron stifled a laugh, Draco looked at him. "Think my name's funny, do you? No need to ask who you are. Red hair and a hand-me-down robe? You must be a Weasley. My father told me all about your family, more children than they can afford."

Draco turned back to Harry. "You'll soon find out some wizarding families are much better than others, Potter. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there." He held out a hand, Harry looked at it and then back at Malfoy.

"I think I can tell the wrong sort are for myself, thanks," Harry said coolly.

"I'd be careful if I were you, Potter," Draco said slowly. "Unless you're a bit politer, you'll go the same way as your parents. they didn't know what was good for them, either. You hang around with riffraff like the Weasleys and that Hagrid, and it'll rub off on you." All three stood up.

"Say that again," Ron demanded as his face turned as well as Chloe's eyes.

"Oh, you're going to fight us, are you?" Malfoy sneered.

"Unless you get out," Harry warned.

"But we don't feel like leaving, do we, boys?" Draco smirked. "We've eaten our food and you still have some." Goyle reach towards a chocolate frog, before Ron could react, Goyle let out a horrible yell. Scrabbers had sunk his teeth into Goyle's finger, he started to shake his hand violently. This scared Dizzy, she got ready to attack, Goyle howled, even more, when Knarl quills lodged into his hand. Scrabbers fell off hitting the window as the three boys left in a hurry.

"What's going on here?" Hermione demanded as she appeared at the doorway.

"I think he's been knocked out," Ron said as he lifted Scrabbers up by his tail. "No---I don't believe it--he's gone back to sleep."

"You've met Malfoy before?" Harry asked.

"Chloe has," Ron said. "Took her on a date.

"We had tea together," Chloe corrected, "How do you know Malfoy?" Harry explained his encounter in Diagon Alley.

"We've heard of his family before," said Ron darkly. "They were some of the first to come back to our side after You-Know-Who disappeared. Said they'd been bewitched. Our dads don't believe it. Says the Malfoy's father didn't need an excuse to go over to the Dark Side."

"Grandpa warned me about that family," Chloe recalled. "Not to get too close."

"Can we help you with something?" Ron asked Hermione.

"You'd better hurry up and put your robes on, I've just been up to the front to ask the conductor, and he says we're nearly there. You haven't been fighting, have you? You'll be in trouble before we even get there!"

"Scrabbers did the fighting," Chloe said as Dizzy sniffed the rat.

"Would you mind leaving while we change?" Ron asked.

"All right--" Hermione gave in. "I only came up here because people outside people are behaving very childishly, racing up and down the corridors." She sniffed. "And you've got dirt on your nose, by the way, did you know that?" Chloe followed Hermione so she can go change. Moments later, Chloe was heading back to her compartment. She suddenly felt Dizzy be picked off her shoulder.

"Hey!" Chloe exclaimed as she spun, she saw Malfoy was holding her. "Please give her back, Dizzy doesn't really like strangers."

"Just examining," Draco said as she pulled on Dizzy's quills, the Knarl let out a quill.

"Draco," Chloe pleaded as she reached to get Dizzy back. Draco held up his hand up higher and put another in front.

"You know I really thought you'd know better than to hang with people like Weasleys, they are an embarrassment," Draco said as he started to toss Dizzy up and down. Chloes eyes were swarming with green for scared and black for stressed.

"They aren't an embarrassment, you are just snobby, the Weasleys are neighbors and friends," Chloe said as she went to grab Dizzy, but Malfoy pushed her away. Crabbe and Goyle appeared and held Chloe back.

"I think I'm going to keep her," Draco said he plucked out a quill, Dizzy cried.

"Leave her alone!" Chloe she pleaded, she elbowed Crabbe in the nose, he backed away so did Goyle. Chloe took out her wand.

"Not another move," Draco warned as he opened the window. "Or she goes out."

Before Chloe could respond, Draco got plummeted in the stomach and Dizzy was removed from his hand. Chloe blinked as there was a smack, blood trickled out of Draco's nose like it was for Crabbe,

"Get out of here," a voice said in a thick Irish accent. "If I catch you stealing from her or harming this one again, that will be the last thing you do." Draco and his goonies left without another word. "I believe she belongs to you."

"Thank you," Chloe said as Dizzy was placed in her hands, the boy put the window up. He had sandy blonde hair and blue eyes. "I'm Chloe Thorne and this Dizzy." Dizzy was shaking as Chloe held her closer.

"Seamus Finnigan," the boy responded as he faced her. "How did you have a knarl?"

"Rescued her," Chloe frowned as she Dizzy closer to her face. "Poor thing, she's shaking."

"She was in the wrong hands," Seamus said. "You on the other hand seem to know what you are doing." Chloe smiled lightly at him. Seamus blinked as he watched Chloe's eyes turn back to their normal color. "Your eyes...they are pretty."

"Thank you," Chloe smiled a bit more.

"We will be reaching Hogwarts in five minutes," a voice echoed throughout the train. "Please leave your luggage on the train, it will be taken to the school separately."

"I hope we get in the same house," Seamus said.

"Yeah," Chloe smiled, the two then parted ways.
