Hello I'm Mia Scott, I'm 15 years old. At this very moment I'm sitting in a car listening to music looking out my window. Where is this car going? Seattle ... That's where my new stepfather lives along with his son who is only 6 months older than me. Do I want to move so far away? No and Yes. No, because I don't think I'm ready for this big change; Yes, because maybe I need this change. Maybe I won't be just a wallflower anymore, maybe I'll have friends who aren't fakes. Or ... maybe I'll be a wallflower forever.
"How are you doing back there Mms? " my mom asks looking at me through the rear view mirror.
I look back at her and put on a simple smile." Good" I say looking back at the window.
"Nervous aren't you?" she says eyes on the road.
" Yeah I guess a little." I reply.
" You'll be okay, I bet this new change will be good for you."
"Sure " is all I say. What if she's wrong what if this change is too much for me and I'll never be able to fit in?
I sigh and lay my head back now staring at the roof of the car. As the time passes my eyes slowly began to close. It feels like only 30 mins when my mom tells me to wake up and look at where we are at.
" Mms look!" my mom says pointing out her window to gigantic skyscrapers.
" Wow!" I gasp in awe.
I've never been to the city before. John, my moms new husband, came down to Oregon to see us, and they even got married there. How did they meet? John owns a vacation house there, so one day they bumped into each other and I guess you can say it was love at first sight and a couple of dates. And almost every weekend John would come down to Oregon just to see my mom. He's a nice guy and makes her happy, so I'm okay with John marrying my mom, plus he acted like the father I never had. What happened to my dad? He left us when I was two years old, for a stick with boobs and an ass, but oh well I doing pretty good without that douche-bag. And how bout John's son, Justin? Well I can tell you this he's an asshole, why? Well it began with the first day I actually met him it was a couple of days before our parents wedding and he decided I was not good enough to be seen with him, so these were the words he told me.
" Look Mia not to sound like an ass but can you do me a favor and not tell anyone that we are step siblings and not be seen with me. Okay thanks really appreciate it "
I'm not lying he actually told me that to my face, see what I mean about asshole? So much for first impression. So yeah that's one of the reasons why I'm sorta nervous about the move in.
" Ooo look there! " my mom yells snapping my attention to where her finger points.
"Um wow that's a tall building! " I say with enough enthusiasm as possible. I mean she's just pointing at a building that doesn't really stand out from the rest of the others.
" I didn't mean that, I meant thats our destination, silly" my mom says pulling out her phone. She calls John telling him we have arrived and will be there in a bit. " Okay love you too, see you in a bit." she says before hanging up.
I could tell by the tone in her voice that she is excited about this. That's she's happy, so that makes the knot in my stomach losen a bit. Come Mia you can do this. I look out the window and see John waiting in front of the building with a huge smile plastered on his face. As my mom pulls up to the building, John waves at us. My mom parks the car and John comes running to open the door for her. They hug and kiss each other and blah blah.
I open the car door and take a step onto the carb. I look at the tall buildings around me doing a full circle. Wow, so this is the city huh. John hands the keys to the worker there and leads us inside. The takes us into the elevator and takes us to the top floor.
" Welcome to your new home! " John says when the elevator doors open.
" Wow! "
