What Truly Matters
There is no such thing
As coincidence
5 years ago tomorrow
Is the anniversary
Of the passing
Of a kind friend
Someone who taught the world
In his short years
What truly matters
Many have forgotten
They slave away
To make money
Not for the basic necessities
But to show prominence
What they don't seem to
Understand
Is that no amount of cash
Will bring
Kindness
Towards self and others
Most importantly
Health is not bought
If you're ill with something
That is incurable and untreatable
All the money in the world
Won't save your life
Greed comes with vast fortune
Sometimes
You and your husband are both
Well off
Live very well
Your father has an aggressive cancer
But instead of taking care of him
Taking him to a good hospital
You look for something cheap
Because it'll look bad for your wealth?
I thought your father mattered
You claim love
But your motives are selfish
Where is the kindness?
How did that fall by the wayside?
Do you not understand
That when you transition
You can't take it with you
All those material things
That mattered so
Must remain on earth
You take with you what
You came with
Your soul, love, and memories
That's what truly matters
If you've forgotten
Find a way to remember
It may save you
