Strange Sleep
It's hard to describe
The feeling of waking up
As if under the influence of
Anesthesia
Body heavy
Eyelids drooping
Brain not properly functioning
As if crazy glued
To the bed
Though subconsciously
One wants get the energy
To escape this netherworld
Like thousands of steel cables
Stuck in the perilous world of
Strange sleep
It is scary as the feelings
Bring back experiences
Over a year hence
Overwhelmed
Overwrought
Want to wake up normally
Without the tug of
Strange sleep into
An abyss of unknowns
Blood pressure low
Pulse high
Why oh why
The degrees outside
Brutal beyond measure
It's not I
Not a surgery this time
Not within my own grasp
The ability to change it
Mother Nature is in control
Shall have to wait till
She settles down
It's bad so very bad
Emotions want to run amok
Can't let them
Worked too hard
It's not the same
I'm not going back ever
Strange sleep
Is exquisitely frightening
Like being hit by a never ending
Bolt of lightening
And yet logic has to prevail
Or else I will fail
Must move on from this and pray
That tomorrow is another day
Where things shall come to pass
And I'll be free at last
From the strange sleep that
Wants to own me
No way
Never again
I take the tape from my eyes
Tell the darkness my goodbyes
Look toward the sun
I will be free
Strange sleep no more
Will be a stronger
Healthier
Me
