A pall fell across the sky
It was a bright and sunny day
Yet it was darker
Then it should have been

3 pairs of sunglasses
Helped show the moon
Slowly to human sight
Race across the sky

Blocking out the sun

The United States
Experienced its first full
Solar Eclipse
In 99 years

It was nifty
It was cool
And for one day
It brought this country together
From the division its dealt with
For months

It was a great show
Though here in the
Tri-state
New England states
We only got about 60%

Being able to see something
So rare
So magnificent
Science at its best
Was beautiful

In 7 years
It'll be our turn
For totality
That will be awesome

Just another reminder of how
Small we are in comparison
To the universe
How we should enjoy the
Beauty of the world

Beliefs
Science
These experiences should
Bring us comfort
Awe and joy

For I knew of this event in 2012 or earlier
And now getting a chance to see it
Being able to be alive
Well
Walking
Laughing
Strong enough

To put on those 3 pairs of sunglasses
And act silly
Look like Willy Wonka
While watching what for some is a
Once in a lifetime event
Is a blessed gift from the heavens
