As per normal

I walked in

The NYC

Halloween parade

As I do each year

This year was

A lot more fun

Than usual

Most of the time

I go alone

It is my catharsis

On my favorite holiday

NYC Halloween parade 2017

Proved to be fun and funny

When I found a float

With great music

I stayed near it

For 20 blocks, I danced

And this time a partner

Appeared out of thin air

His costume was

A mish-mash of things

Looked like

50 Shades of Grey

Met

Scuba instructor

He started dancing

Around me

I joined him

We twirled

And put on a show

For many

It was the first time

In my life

I ground up 6th Avenue

Made videos

Took photos

My dance partner

Was Steve

A transplant from London

He had a terrific

Sense of humor

Though he scared

A little girl

It was all in good fun

I think I made a new friend

And that's just the way

I like it

People always

Gravitate towards me

I never thought

It would be

So literal

One of my favorite parts

Of the parade

Was waving

And interacting

With children

I made sure

I made eye contact

With everyone, I waved to

Popped over to some kids

Who touched my wings

Made them smile

Very gratifying

Was one of the best

Out of my 10 plus

Years walking

Very much looking

Forward to next year

2018!
