All around the world
Since 2016
Rallies have been held

To raise voices in unison
That the millions missing
Haven't disappeared
That funding is required for research

Folks wear t-shirts
Bring shoes with messages of
Those bedridden and can't make it
Or those the disease or suicide took

I was supposed to go to the one
In my state
Connecticut
I volunteered to be the photographer
For our event

I also promised to honor
A friend who transitioned
Last month to heaven
After battling this illness
For over 30 years

But Mother Nature had other plans
So instead I recorded a video
That is above
About me
And ME

And borrowing a pair of
My father's shoes
Made a picture message
In my friend's honor

I made the video differently
From others
Because I had my own message
To send

About seeking the truth
And only the truth
That I wouldn't be swayed
By cameras and nonsense

And then I ended it in a
Reconstructed message
From a film of the 90s

We will not go quietly into the night!
We will not give in without a fight!
We will go on!
Our voices strong!
Today....is our ME Awareness Day!!
