Outside the Walls
She would have loved to go outside,
Outside the walls.
She would have loved to follow her Ghost
Outside, in the city he had described to her.
But he eventually told her he hadn't described her city:
He had described his, which was somewhere
In the gigantic Elsewhere
Laying behind her walls.
He had told her he couldn't take her out.
He had never wandered in Atlantis himself.
He just came to see her.
Though...
She would have loved to walk in her city,
Even if she had to wear a mask so that no one would recognize her.
Even if she had to go by night so that she would look like a shadow.
Feeling like a shadow had to be so fascinating...
Feeling like a shadow had to be wonderful.
No matter what people said
Shadows weren't evil
They were free,
Free to go,
Free to live,
Free to love.
She would have loved to go in a tavern
Step on a table,
And dance with the Ghost,
Again and again,
Until her head would spin.
She would have loved to hear the kid's laughter
Even if she would never have some.
Well...
Maybe...
Why was she forbidden to have a life?
Actually, she didn't know the reason why.
She wondered if there was one.
But, if there was one,
She didn't care anymore.
In her mind, Dana could hear both
Waves crashing,
Kids laughing,
All of those things she wanted so desperately.
But she was trapped in her garden,
In her crystal cage...
She turned to see her Ghost.
He looked sad.
"Don't feel sad, she said."
"Give me a reason to feel happy, he replied.
You're trapped in there and I can't get you out."
"Don't say this. Don't you ever say this."
She turned to face him
And smiled.
In her mind, she heard, again,
Both waves crashing
And childish laughters.
