Chapter 1
We begin our story the day before our main man of the hour turns thirteen. In this day, Devin began training to withstand the power of Hopeful Darkness, Yin, at age ten. Now, at age twelve, young Devin was given a free year from the rigorous training.
The mountainous community of Aviane lived in peace and tranquility. The women made baskets, clothes, and sometimes... Weapons, depending on who you asked. The men did most of the hunting and gathering while the children enjoyed the easy life till they turned twelve where they began their work. The houses were made of the stone that was used to build their temple to worship the original user of the clan's powers. A young male with light brown hair and wore well kept clothes laid on a roof watching an older male rather curiously
"Oh this will be funny..." A younger Devin Ying said pulling a thin hideskinned balloon filled with water. He snickers dropping the balloon on to the older man who was instantly covered by water.
"Who did that?!" The old male screamed. Devin took off on his left jumping across gaps the lied in between the buildings. He would throw in parkour maneuvers trying to keep his muscles in check before vaulting off the roof. A woman walked towards him giggling softly.
"What shall I do with you, sweetie?" The woman said. She wore a white dress with different patterns on it. She had light brown hair except for a section of it was white. Devin smiled at the woman.
"Nothing mom," Devin said walking with her to do some shopping. Devin's mother stared at her son with much curiosity.
"You excited about tomorrow?" Devin's mom asked as Devin nodded smiling. Tomorrow was Devin's thirteenth birthday; the biggest celebration since tomorrow he would inherit the Yin quirk that had been passed down from generation to generation, mainly father to son. Devin skipped with excitement as his mother chuckled.
"Now I want you to bath before you sleep tonight," Devin's mother said, "and you know the rules if your friend from the other clan is there."
Devin's mother said the last part with much seriousness as Devin snickered. Devin, then, turned towards his mother with the most innocent look on his face.
"But I have no idea what you're talking about mother," Devin said causing his mother to laugh.
"Like father like son you are," Devin's mother said shaking her head. Devin's father and her had meetings while bathing in a lake that had a waterfall that had warm water. Nothing did happen of course but both wished something did happen in those waters.
"I am my father and mother's son," Devin said chuckling as the two hurried up with shopping. Devin went to the massive cliff where the sounds of a waterfall can be heard. He carried a change of clothes and blueberry soap made with fresh blueberries. Humming slightly, he reaches the lake placing his clothes on a moss covered fallen tree. As soon as this happened, Devin's ears perked up hearing the noise of a female already in the waters. Turning his head to the left, a girl about his age with lavender colored hair having water covering up to her neck as she was relaxing.
"Dang, Ghost, may I join you?!" Devin hollers getting the girl's attention. Blushing slightly, she smirks and nods.
"Anything for the clans son of Yin and Yang," the girl responded as Devin removed his clothes till he was naked then jumped into the lake.
The girl was named Chelsea, or Ghost as Devin called her. She came from a village across the mountains called Lason where it matched Aviane in building structure and community. However, the quirk there was known as "Shadow" and only passed from mother to daughter. Chelsea was the clans daughter of her home. Devin swam over to Chelsea smiling as they talked with Devin washing Chelsea and vice versa.
"So the big thirteen?" Chelsea said as Devin nodded.
"Can't believe we will both inherit our parents' quirks on the same day," Devin said causing Chelsea to giggle.
"Which reminds me," Chelsea said swimming over grabbing a box with a light blue ribbon, "Happy birthday, Hope!"
Devin blushed at the nickname as he dried his hands with nearby moss and opened the box. Inside was a sapphire blue necklace with a locket, he opens it showing a picture of himself and Chelsea holding hands as they explored Russia when they were younger. Devin smiles hugging Chelsea.
"Thanks Shadow Girl," Devin said as Chelsea blushed. Devin realized that they were naked as he quickly swam away blushing bright red, "S-So..."
Chelsea giggled swimming over and placed her lips on Devin's lips kissing him gently.
"For my bracelet and charm and for being with me everyday," Chelsea said whispering into Devin's ear. Devin nodded sighing slightly as Chelsea swam back.
"Oh damn, we better get back before our parents start questioning," Chelsea said getting out with Devin turning away. After a few moments, Devin turns back to be amazed at Chelsea's black two piece dress that hugged Chelsea's curves perfectly. He swallowed as Chelsea smirked then walked away. Devin quickly jumped out and changed then sprinted back to his home inside the temple.
Errrmm... That was... Interesting... *Coughs*
