Chapter 1

"I can explain-"

"I sure hope you can because guns are illegal in Hermitcraft and it's not like you have been able to get them in any other realm you have lived in between seasons." Grian paused for a second, putting the gun down and tilting his head in confusion.

"Wait a second, I haven't lived in any other kingdoms between seasons. I only visit MCC every few months with False, Ren and now Pearl I guess." Now it was Mumbo's turn to be confused.

"Wait, what? You have been somewhere else, I know it but I don't know why you don't know. We are missing the point though, where did you get the gun?" Grian looked back down at the weapon. He knew it was unloaded but he had it in case of emergencies.

"It's from the very first kingdom I lived in. It is a dangerous place so I've kept my gun just in case I need to go back at any time. It's not like I'm planning on using it for something." Grian made a show of even putting it in his enderchest. He didn't want another Hermit to find it and accidently shoot their eye out.

"I think you are still missing the point, Grian. You can't have it. Period. It's not allowed and-"

"Will it make you feel better if I tell you that Xisuma knows?" Mumbo looked baffled once again. Grian pulled out a sheet of paper in his folder of important papers. On it, Xisuma signed that he could have the gun but he could not use it at any point in time while on the server unless there is a really bad emergency. "I don't feel comfortable leaving it anywhere and the people I could leave it with are reckless and don't know how to use it properly. I told X as much and he agreed that I couldn't leave it anywhere."

"Then why did you point it at me?" Grian let his jaw open in silence, not knowing what to say.

"What-?

"Why did you point it at me? You held it like you were going to shoot."

Grian pulled the gun out of his enderchest again, showing it off to Mumbo. "It's empty of bullets, see?" To reassure him, he shot it at himself, letting it click and shoot. He still stood unharmed and no bullet was in his body. "It's a reflex that happens whenever I'm holding it and get stressed. The server I used to live on was more dangerous than here. You can't hesitate for a second or it gets you killed."

"Wait, Scar never told me that you could have guns."

"Scar never knew about the kingdom I lived in, what are you on about?" Grian felt like he was missing something big and Mumbo knew exactly what it was. "I lived in a city that happened to have a high rate of mafia and serial killers, that's what I'm talking about. I never learned for any other kingdom. Evo was friendly, Hermitcraft was rarely violent and MCC has absolutely no need. What are you talking about." Mumbo looked like he was trying to understand everything.

"Are you completely sure you don't remember another place? Another place where some of the current Hermits lived for a few months and told me that you were there? Like, this place was deadly and I decided that when you asked me to join that I would decline?" Grian had no clue was Mumbo was talking about. The redstone Hermit then abruptly opened the door.

"Scar!"

---

"Are you sure you have no clue?"

"Yes! I have absolutely no clue what you guys are talking about! Why do you keep asking!" Scar was standing in front of Grian with his arms crossed and frown situated on his face. Mumbo was pacing back and forth.

"Is anyone else coming?" Scar asked Mumbo who nodded.

"Impulse is coming over and there will be an appearance of Bdubs and Tango as well." Grian tried to desperately remember everyone mentioned but all he could see were bloody bodies. He felt like he barely knew them before all these visions started appearing. Heck, he never would have thought about them if he was completely honest, living on the other side of the continent and all.

"I'm here!" Impulse walked into the 'interrogation' room. His features went through a mixture of emotions as he looked at Grian. The Brit could only wish the same. "Does he really not know?" He asked Scar who shrugged.

"Excuse me, 'he' would like to know what 'he' doesn't know!" Grian muttered, annoyed at everything. He had no clue what was going on or how this happened. Mumbo caught him shoving stuff into his bag to finding out he has some weird amnesia towards a kingdom that he was in only a week ago.

The energy shifted as Bdubs walked in.

"Mr. BdoubleO, you aren't going to betray us here if given a clock, will you?" Impulse had his arms crossed as he spoke.

"Only if it isn't a nice clock. I can't pass up the opportunity!" Impulse let go of his mock anger letting out a laugh. Scar joined in and it felt like Grian was missing something. He was supposed to know this joke.

"Fair enough, some clocks really are too amazing to pass up." The mood dampened after that, everyone going back to staring at Grian like he was some specimen.

"Would anyone mind telling me what I am missing?" Bdubs gave him a smile and patted his shoulder.

"Well, since none of these guys will tell you, I will. You created this kingdom for a game. Everyone had three lives and whoever was alive to the end won. It was all a friendly competition and nobody was upset about the outcome."

"And whoever joined went on their freewill? That seems dangerous considering what has been happening in the Dream Essempi." Bdubs shrugged.

"I joined for the competition. Nothing like beating the others in a battle." He shrugged in complete boredom.

"Oh yeah, you only got third place!" Impulse said and Bdubs frowned at him.

"You didn't do much better you know. Personally, I think the ending was rigged. But that's for another conversation."

Glancing over Bdubs again, Grian realized his eyes had been messing with him the entire time. He had wounds all over his body and betrayal was lit in his eyes. It flashed to the tanned skin man with a pocketwatch in his cargo pant leg. Looking over to Scar and Impulse, he found the same except Impulse had sword wounds and Scar looked the same as ever, beaten as a bloody pulp.

"... how did you all die?" Grian asked as they all looked at each other awkwardly.

"Well," Impulse began, "I died because Scar gave ole' Bdubs here a clock and put him against me. I was in least in the top five even with the cheating." He glared at Scar and Bdubs who looked unbothered.

"So what? It's not like it was against the rules." Scar shrugged lazily. Grian gulped when he saw blood gush from his movement.

"I died because Scar betrayed me." Bdubs shrugged. "I was so tired that I fell in the lake and it was easy to drown me. Rookie mistake." Now that he mentioned it, Grian could see the blue tint in his skin. If he squinted, water was rolling down his chin from his mouth.

"Huh," Grian said quietly. That must be the visions he is seeing. Except his was more violent than whatever fun games the others remember.

Nothing to worry them over.

"So, I didn't miss much, right?" Grian asked the group. They all looked clueless.

"Probably, yeah. Not much happened other than playing a game I guess. It wasn't something that was too important anyways." Impulse explained.

"Although I think we should be concerned that Grian forgot something, right?" Mumbo added in. "It isn't good that he forgot something so important that was a few weeks in his life. He should be remembering some things."

"I guess you are right. Should we bring Xisuma into this conversation or-"

"No need to get him involved with such a stupid thing!" Grian yelled out, the other quieting. "I mean, he is probably busy now because of the new season. We can wait a bit to tell him, right? Nothing could possibly go wrong in this short amount of time." He quickly fixed his wordings to not act suspicious. It didn't work.

"Grian, this isn't good. Maybe you hit your head too hard or something?" Impulse suggested, looking over the shorter Hermit.

"Probably, we should have Doc check it out or something." Mumbo pushed Grian into a chair, the other frowning.

"I can make decisions for myself! I'm fine!" He assured again.

"You can't make rational decisions when your head is messed up, anyways, have you guys seriously forgotten I am one of the other server medics?" Scar asked, rolling his eyes at the others.

"Oh yeah, you had a break a little while back so Stress replaced you for awhile. Are you back to being number one?" Bdubs asked, idly fiddling with his pocket watch. Grian tried to ignore the water pooling at his feet.

"Yup! Back on the job! Stress is still a medic and thank gosh for that. It's a big help especially considering Cleo doesn't trust me enough to stitch her together." He shrugged, pulling out a bag. Grian had remembered seeing it only one time in his career on the server when he had a nasty fall in season six. He luckily made it out with all his bones intact and only with bruises and cuts.

Grian watched silently as Scar pulled items out of the bag while the others talked. He didn't really want to be checked out, it was nothing afterall! They didn't have anything to worry about.

"Alright, I'm going to shine this light into your eyes so it will be bright. If you can take your glasses off for me," Grian did as told, taking the frames off and holding them, "and let there be light!" Scar joked at the flashlight turned on. He stared intently at Grian's eyes, quietly moving the light around. The others were quiet as well, watching in anticipation.

The light moved from one eye to the other, Scar asking questions about headaches and vision problems.

With a click, the light turned off and Scar stepped back, looking deep in thought.

"What's the verdict, doc?" Grian joked as a way lighten the mood but it only made himself more nervous. He put his glasses back on.

"There doesn't seem to be anything wrong! It doesn't make any sense." Scar frowned, eyes closing in thought. "Nothing was there, like any indication of head trauma."

"Is there anything else you can do?" Mumbo asked him. Scar shifted before opening his eyes.

"Alright, this might be weird but I have to feel around your head. See if there is any bumps or changes in the skull. The best thing to do would be getting you off server to find a machine that can look inside but this is the best we could do here right now." Scar stepped closer, suddenly deflating. "Is it alright if I do this?" Grian looked over to Mumbo who was nodding his head, desperation in his eyes.

"Fine but nobody talks about this at all." He huffed, sitting back into the chair. Scar then used his hands to feel around. Grian inwardly groaned knowing that his hair was going to be mess by the end of this.

"On the brightside, it might be like a massage!" Mumbo tried to cheer up but Scar and Grian just looked at him with glares.

"It just feels like someone is rubbing my head harshly. Nothing nice and soothing about that."

"It is supposed to be more rough since I have to find anything wrong. Whether it be something wrong in your skull or just head shape in general."

"I feel ackward watching this." Impulse noted, boredom in his stance.

"I feel ackward being in the middle." Grian sighed. He barely knew a lot of the people here. He knew Mumbo from Sahara and Mumbo for Mayor campaign. Scar and Bdubs were rivals in the race but that's basically his extent of knowledge.

However, he could somehow pridict what Scar would say and do. It was strange. He felt an overwhelming sense of betrayal and fear even when being next to him.

That's why he immediately breathed a sigh of relief when he stepped away.

"Nothing again. I think we have to get a MRI. It is the best opportunity to find something."

"Do I have to?" Grian whined loudly. He just wanted to ignore it despite the gruesome visions he saw.

"Yes, this could be something more serious." Scar patted his shoulder, going back to his bag to put his things away. "I know you think this is going to suck, but it isn't going to be that bad. I know you well enough to know that."

Grian swallowed. He had no idea why Scar was acting like they knew each other. They really didn't.

But he continued to pretend anyways.

A/N: sorry this has been on a huge hiatus, ive been on a writers block for most of my stories and have felt uninterested in this one for awhile. I know how I want it to go but it is being executed poorly but I will try and make it better throughout the next few parts. To anyone that really wanted this series to come back, enjoy.
