My best friend Hailey dragged me to a bar last night.

After a few drinks, dances with friends I managed to make, I could feel joy in my bones again.

Then the DJ played our song and I remembered you.

I remembered your voice and your smile

I remembered your grace and the love you gave

I remembered that that love isn't for me anymore

And that you were probably dancing with some girl who wanted to be your night sky.

So when I left with some stranger, Hailey didn't try to stop me

Because even though he didn't have black hair and blue eyes

That night he wanted to shower me with roses

And I needed to drown my heart of things I shouldn't care about.
