Together, Lois and Scott pushed through the back entrance to the school, both of them hurrying down the hallway and past the locker rooms. If they wanted to be there to help the others protect Lydia, then they would have to hurry their pace.
"McCall! Get over here—!"
Said boy skidded to a halt, Lois nearly crashing right into his back but he steadied her before she could. She glanced up at him and then to coach's office, then back to Scott with her eyes wide and blinking. They didn't exactly have the time to stop and chat with Finstock, even if it was important, which she doubted. School was about to end — what could he have possibly wanted?
"McCall!"
Scott groaned, gazing at the end of the hall longingly. He sighed and swivelled on his foot, jogging back towards the office slowly.
"Scott?" Lois hissed, waving her hands, "What about—?"
"You go, or you'll miss them!" He told her, walking backwards. Scott noticed the hesitance on her face; he knew that Lois didn't like to leave him behind — or anyone, for that matter. "I'll catch up as soon as I can, okay?"
Standing awkwardly in the empty hallway, stuck between two decisions, Lois chewed on her lower lip. She was unsure whether leaving him behind would be the best idea, especially since they needed him around in order to protect Lydia. While Allison had her crossbow and she knew that the girl was a good shot — very good, actually — if Derek Hale and his three teenage betas came after them all at once, a werewolf would have most definitely been their best mode of defence. And the only werewolf that the group of kids actually had on their side, was Scott McCall.
Without him, they had less of a chance.
"Go, Lois—" Scott encouraged her gently, "Lydia needs you."
She groaned, running her tongue over her teeth. He had a good point, as much as she didn't want to admit such a thing. But Lois eventually sighed and nodded, deciding that it was for the best.
"You better get your ass to your house soon, wolf boy!" Lois pointed a finger, a hushed but threatening tone to her threat. He rolled his eyes but nodded, nonetheless.
"I will," he promised.
Well, that was good enough for her.
With one last look in his direction, Lois turned and continued to rush down the hall, hoping that she would happened to stumble upon Stiles, Allison, Luna and Lydia before they all left for Scott's. She clung to her bag with one hand and pulled her phone with the other, taking this time to scroll through her messages and see if there were any updates.

THE KANIMA SEEKS A FRIEND.
The last, and thus the earliest, message made Lois frown. She wasn't sure what that was supposed to mean...although, she had doubted that they did, either. The translation was helpful, in the respect that they were getting somewhere with the bestiary, but it hardly proved that the culprit wasn't Lydia. Most lonely teenagers would seek friends — Lois didn't know anyone who wasn't lonely in high school, these days — and, if anything, Lydia would be one of the loneliest. Running through the woods naked hasn't exactly been a group event, had it? Not to their knowledge.
Lois hadn't received an invitation, anyway.
Having eventually made it to the front of the school, Lois used her body to push open the doors, just as the dusty blue jeep drove out of the parking lot. She groaned loudly, but she didn't bother chasing after it. There wasn't much point.
Seeing as the final bell hadn't even rang yet, they had done well to get Lydia out of the school already. Lois knew they wouldn't have left if they had a choice; not leaving as soon as possible was a risk, and she knew that. She also knew that they wouldn't have left her behind out of choice, rather out of necessity. It was alright.
Stiles had been her best friend since before birth, so she was fully aware that he wouldn't have left her in the school unless he was certain that she would have wanted him to. In all honesty, Lois would have preferred that they kept Lydia safe and away from the wrath of the Hale pack, even if that had meant she would be left behind. Anyway, she had Scott with her — they would make it there, somehow. She was sure of it.
With a sigh, the girl span on her heel and walked back into the school, trying to avoid a few stray students that were getting out of classes early.
She readjusted the bag on her shoulder and peered around. It seemed that there was no sight of Erica and Isaac thus far, and Lois vaguely wondered where they could be. Class seemed unlikely with the job they had been given, so it left her feeling unsettled.
But Lois pushed that feeling away and wandered into the library as she prepared herself to give Scott a call, to tell him that she had missed the rest of the group by a hair, but they had managed to get Lydia off the premises without any werewolves following. Lois scrolled through her contact list in aims of finding the werewolf in her contact, pushing the doors of the library open and strolling past the many shelves of books, and the rows of computers.
"Lois— hey!"
She glanced over the top of her phone with furrowed brows.
"Over here!"
Pleasantly surprised to see Danny waving at her from his table, it didn't take long for her to send him a wave back. She noticed that Matt was sat next to him, which confused her.
There was computer laid out in front of them, showing that they were doing some sort of homework, or perhaps work for the year book — judging by the camera in Matt's hand. Matt seemed to smile rather wide when he saw her but Lois hardly noticed, and smiled at them anyway.
"What are you still doing here?" Danny asked when she had reached their table and stood, "Isn't Stiles usually your ride home? I think they already passed through here, a few minutes ago."
Lois nodded slowly, "Yeah, uh— my dads picking me up today. Family bonding, y'know?"
He nodded in understanding — unaware that her father wasn't going to be picking her up from school and that she was going to have to find a way back herself, when Scott had turned up — and turned back to their computer screen.
Nosily, Lois found herself peering over his shoulder and rose a brow, barely seeing the camera footage of Jackson laying on his bed before Matt casually leant foreword and closed it shut.
"Have you got five minutes?" He turned to her with a dashing smile, resting his head on his hand and ignoring the very confused expression that adorned Danny's face. Matt shrugged as though it were no big deal, attempting to act nonchalant. "We're trying to figure out this software bug, and we kinda need a test subject."
"A test subject?"
"You know—" he nodded, "—just someone to sit there and look pretty, while we film them. It'll only take around a minute tops,"
His words were kind, and Lois flushed a deep red.
"It'd just really help us out," Matt continued, "Learn how easy it it to cut out footage, and get it back."
Lois' mind flittered back to the conversation she had overheard between Jackson and the two boys at last nights lacrosse game, the one that had been centred around the two hours of footage that had gone missing. It seemed suspicious, but she hadn't been able to dwell on it long before Danny looked up at her with a pleading smile. Danny wasn't suspicious — he was Danny.
"You'd be really helping us out, Lo..." He said, "Please?"
She awkwardly looked between the boys and her phone, eyes dancing along Scott's contact name, and back at the boys again. Pursing her lips, she sighed.
Lois wondered, how could she ever say no to Danny?
"Okay— fine!" Lois gave in, "Sure, I guess..."
"Great!" Matt hopped up enthusiastically, throwing his camera strap around his neck and turning it on with a click! Lois decided to ignore how excited he had seemed, passing it off as an eagerness to sort out their issue. She briefly questioned what it was all for.
"Is there anything I need to— I don't know, do?" Lois asked, her confusion palpable as he told her to take a seat at a computer desk.
She slipped her phone into the safety of her pocket and did as she was instructed, pushing herself up onto one of the stools and crossing her legs on instinct. All the while, Matt had been sure to follow behind and move around, trying to find the best lighting and peering through his lens as she laughed nervously. It was an odd situation to be in, one that she had never really experienced before. Lois had always been too busy chasing werewolves to find a career in modelling — that had been more Lydia's thing, whereas Lois Lane preferred reading comic books and running after real murder cases that she and Stiles stole from their fathers' voicemails and notebooks. That was what had gotten them into trouble, in the first place. A stupid voicemail.
Lois cleared her throat, "I— I'm not much of a model."
"All you have to do is sit there, and look perfect." Matt said.
She didn't have time to question the comment when he counted down from three with his fingers, hitting record and giving her a thumbs up. Lois smiled at the camera rather awkwardly, glancing down and then back up at the lens a few times. She'd never really been a natural in front of a camera.
The minute mark passed quickly, and before she knew it, Matt was already clicking the camera and pulling it away from his face.
Smiling, he nodded one. "Thanks, Lois."
Tucking a shy hair behind her ear, said girl nodded and smiled tightly. She slid down from the stool and hooked her bag back over her shoulder, while pulling out her phone. "No problem, I guess."
Lois took a peak at the time. They had been right. It had only taken her a minute, a short and painless minute, and she knew that there wasn't much that could have gone wrong during that minute. It was likely that the gang would still be headed to Scott's house, Scott would still be talking to coach, and Derek's pack wouldn't have gotten remotely close to touching a hair on Lydia's head. If anything, it had been a good minute. It was another minute that they all would have managed to keep her perfectly alive.
There were no messages, no bad news.
Everyone was still alive.
She took in a breath.
"If we upload this video onto here—" Matt had spoken more to himself than to anyone else, placing the memory card into the laptop. He clicked the trackpad and Lois saw her face pop up onto the screen, "—then we can delete some stuff, and try to get it back."
"Great!"'Danny muttered with a wide smile, glancing at Matt with adoration. Lois squinted her eyes, but kept her mouth shut.
She wondered what that was all about, how strange...
As they began to cut and slice the footage, Lois turned back to her phone and clicked on Scott's contact with her thumb. Lifting the phone to her ear and stepping aside, she hummed under her breath as the ringer went on, and on. Lois sighed once and started to shuffle between her feet, frowning when it went to voicemail; he must have still been with Finstock.
Lois swiped off of Scott's name, instead scrolling until she found the other boy in her life.
He answered immediately.
"How's it going?" She asked, quickly.
"We're almost at Scott's," Stiles told her, his voice loud and overly emphasised as he tried to act as normal as possible, when all he had wanted to do is ask if his best friend was alright and in one piece. He felt awful for leaving her behind, even if that was what she would have wanted. "What about you? What time can you meet us?"
"Is that Lois—?"
"Uh— yeah! She's think of getting pizza!"
She rolled her eyes at his attempt of discretion. Though, the sound of Lydia's voice had calmed her nervous jitters.
All of the lying was cruel, but it was for Lydia's sake. She still had no idea what was going on, and Lois could only ponder the kinds of excuses that the group had made up to convince her.
"Not sure, I'm waiting on Scott..." Lois responded, eyes trailing back to Danny and Matt whom were watching her. She gave them a smile and a wiggle of her fingers as she turned, "He's a bit busy, but we'll try to be quick."
"Well, be quicker!"
She scoffed, "Just hold the fort until we get there— okay?"
"Alright..." Stiles sighed before perking back up, "And don't forget the chemistry notes!"
"...what?"
But Stiles had. already hung up. Lois pulled the phone from her ear and stared at it with narrowed eyes, blinking emptily before shaking her head. She knew better than to call back.
Spinning on her heel, Lois readied herself to bid farewell to the two boys in the library and head off on her journeys to find Scott McCall — since he hadn't answered his phone the first time. She had told Stiles that they would try to be as quick as they possibly could and she intended on fulfilling that promise. Even if Lois was only human and wouldn't be all too beneficial in protecting Lydia from a pack of werewolves, Scott would be. Allison would be able to hold them off but only for so long; arrows were good and all, but eventually, claws would need to be thrown.
Lois' hummed, "I'll see you guys—"
Her words trailed off when two betas clad in leather jackets entered the library, their amber eyes scanning the room.
They looked ready to turn the kanima into a snake-skin bag.
Shit.
She didn't have a chance to hide behind the rows of books to her left and get out of sight, being that Isaac had already caught sight of her frozen form. He smirked, his head tilting to the left and observing how she forced her mouth shut. Lois straightened out her posture — square shoulders, back unbending — and quickly waved to Danny and Matt, then taking off in the direction that she had originally come from.
Lois made a beeline out of the library and towards the boys locker rooms, where coach's office was located, ready to call Scott's number. She decided that if Scott wasn't still in the office, then she would at least have to bump into him on the there if he didn't answer phone, first— right? Honestly, she didn't really know.
She clicked on Scott's number, only for the phone to be knocked out of her hand with a swipe of claws. Her body flew backwards as it was tugged along by the back of her jacket, Lois she groaned when she was thrown against the locker.
"Fancy seeing you here, Lois..."
The mere sound of Erica's voice made Lois' eyes roll.
"You do realise I go here, right?" Lois quipped, looking up at the girl holding her, "Or, did you just forget all those times I told people to leave you alone? That time I saved your life—?"
"Where is she?" Isaac interrupted, drawing her attention to him.
She knew that he was speaking about Lydia, and they both knew that Lois knew exactly where she was — but she wasn't going to tell them that. Obviously.
"Who?" she hummed, "I know a lot of people,"
Isaac grit his teeth together but turned his anger into a bitter laughter, taking a step closer to the girl and pushing Erica out of the way. His fist held her shirt and Isaac wondered if he had seen her pale, "You know who. Shouldn't you be with her, right now? Along with your little band of friends, protecting her from us? I mean— what do you call yourselves, again? Scooby Gang?"
"I prefer Sherlock, and co. if I'm honest—"
"Just answer me, Lane."
"Lydia has more than enough people to protect her," Her tone was nastier than before. Lois smirked, but her face was deceivingly innocent. "Unlike you guys, she had people that actually care about her."
It wasn't a surprise when his left eye twitched. Isaac clicked his tongue in irritation and pinned her harder against the lockers, while Erica walked foreword. She faked a pout when Lois had winced, and leant in closer to the girl in their clutches. Her voice was low and it was right next to her ear.
"But if they're all protecting her— then who'll protect you, Lois?"
Lois faltered.
Looking up at the betas with hatred in her eyes, she watched as Erica laughed and raised her claws, sending it straight for Lois' face. But she was ready and swooped down, using her body weight to drag Isaac's hand on her jacket with her, just about missing the blow and hearing Erica's fist slam against the lockers. She then stamped on Isaac's foot as the last bell rang. His grip loosened and gave her enough time to yank away from them, shooting through the hoards of students that were evacuating their classrooms.
On her way through the crowd, Lois swiped her phone from the floor and shoved it into her pocket, her bag close to her side as she pushed her way towards the exit. It didn't take long for her to lose the two werewolves and wind up outside, looking around for any sign of Scott McCall. However, she didn't end up seeing the boy anywhere. Only his bike in the parking bay, untouched.
She groaned; without him she couldn't get to his house, but waiting around wasn't really an option anymore. Not after that.
Lois didn't wanted to be ripped to pieces by Erica and Isaac.
Her heart sunk in her chest. Lois began wishing that she could drive now, more than she had ever wished before. She looked at the display of cars and found Danny's, meaning that he was still yet to leave, and an array other's that she kind of knew.
But none of them were in the car park, and Lois could only assume they were all busy with after schools and extra curricular. People really did that?
Although, the longer that her eyes travelled along the car park, Lois began to notice the perfect option. And it was right in front of her. Of course she didn't want to see him particularly, and she might regret her decision forever, but it was the only way that she was going to get to Scott's house before Derek's pack did.
So, with a forced smile, Lois clung to her bag a little tighter and marched her way to his car.
"Can you do me a favour?"
