This is the background for my drawing, shown above.

This is what I have so far, Sep 27, 24. I finished the fine details, now I have to color them all in.

The fantasy series of books is Wings Of Fire

This Skywing is from The Brightest Night by Tui T. Sutherland

I used a drawing from the front of this book as a reference, but I'm not tracing. Will also use Joy Ang's wonderful cover for Wings Of Fire as reference to get the colors right.

This artwork done in GIMP, a free software that's like Photoshop. No AI in this artwork. I put the photo down on the bottom layer and carefully erased where my dragon drawing is on it. The dragon herself is hand-drawn with a mouse, because my tablet and pen totally got lost when we moved to Trion. Ugh! But, I'm having fun doing this! I'll put versions up as I gradually get this done.
