Monster

"Rebecca?" He cried. "Oh my God."

"Bucky, where are we?" she cried back.

"I don't know, little'n. Oh my God, how did you get here?!"

"A man broke into the apartment, Bucky, I'm so sorry." she sobbed, the situation was overwhelming and she couldn't explain exactly how she felt. "I didn't know... Bucky, I'm scared."

"I know-" he choked, he was trying not to cry but there was no use. Beck and Steve were the only two people he really truly cared about. "I know you're scared, kid, I know. It's okay." he spoke softly before he started jerking around, making her scream and cry harder. He finally got his slab turned around so he was facing her. "Hey, I'm right here." he tried to comfort her but there wasn't much he could do. He was helpless and that hurt him more than anything.

"James..." she gasped. "Your... Your arm..." it was metal. His whole arm was metal.

"Nice, isn't it?" he asked, tears falling.

"What happened, Bucky?" He didn't want to answer. It didn't matter to him what he went through, so long as she didn't have to gothrough it too. "What did they do to you, bub?"

"I fell." he answered, letting his head drop. "I fell off a mountain. I should have died but they- HYDRA- they found me and... they tore me apart, Beck." he croaked. "They tore me apart and they got inside my head, they made me see things and do things..." he shook his head, not able to look his baby sister in her innocent eyes. The things he'd done- it wasn't him. "I'm sorry, Beck."

"Bucky..." she sniffled. She'd never seen him like that. "Bucky, that doesn't matter now, okay? Not to me."

"You don't know what I've done, Beck, you don't know the half of it."

"I don't care. You're my brother, Bucky. We're going to make it through this. We're going to get out of her, Steve won't stop looking until he finds us, Buck." she tried to get him to look up at her. There was nothing ither of them could do, just out of reach of one another, just a centimeter too far away. "He'll find us, Bucky."

"You have a cut on your face." he didn't have the heart to tell her they were never going to escape. There was nothing said after that for hours. "They told me you were dead." Bucky said when he had enough composure. "I thought you were dead, Beck."

"I'm right here, bub."

"I saw your body on the ground in front of me. They told me they brought you in and that I killed you."

"Bucky..."

"Listen to me, Beck." he told her seriously. "Listen to me, please, whatever happens-" he couldn't tell her the moster he was. He couldn't tell her what he'd done or what he could do. He couldn't tell her the monster he was. "I love you."
