🪷Chapter One🪷

Enchanted Forest (Before):

We didn't have much time.

I could feel Snow's spirit slipping as Charming and I rode through the woods. Trying to move the trees and shrubs to clear a path as quickly as possible, I pushed my horse to move faster.

As we traveled, I prayed to the Fates that they would let Snow hold on just a little longer.

"No! No! No!" I cried in fear, as we approached the glass coffin that the dwarves stood around.

"You're too late." Doc told us somberly.

"You were supposed to give her more time!" I cursed the fates, dismounting from my horse and running towards the woman who had become my family.

"Open it." The prince muttered in desperation.

"I'm sorry, she's gone." Grumpy informed us, my heart shattering at the loss of my friend.

"At least let me say goodbye." He pleaded, tears welling in his eyes.

Doc nodded to the other dwarves and they all backed away from the coffin, removing its lid.

A last minute, desperate idea came to my mind. "True love's kiss."

"What?" Charming asked in confusion.

"True love's kiss! It's the strongest magic in this realm!" I desperately tried to convince, while praying to the gods that it would work.

"Please, you have to try." I cried tearfully, giving a determined nod to my companion.

The prince was silent, thinking it over for the briefest of moments and nodded. He bent over and placed a gentle kiss on Snow's lips, causing a wave of magic to shoot out of Snow and nearly knocked all of us over.

Suddenly, Snow lets out a shocked gasped, causing a relieved grin to spread across my face.

"You..." She whispered, gazing up at Charming. "You found me."

"Did you ever doubt that I would?" He chuckled, helping her sit up.

"Truthfully? The glass coffin gave me pause." Snow joked, causing me to let out a tearful laugh. She made eye contact with me and smiled.

"You never have to worry. I will always find you." The prince promised, causing me to clear my throat. "We will always find you."

"Hey, little sister. Why the long face?" Her comment caused me to let out a mocking laugh, before I ran to hug her.

"I thought you died, you self-sacrificing psycho!" I laughed, pulling away from the hug. "I swear to the gods if you pull a stunt like that again, I will have the fates resurrect you so that I can kill you again."

"Same goes for you, kiddo." She chuckled, before turning to the prince. "Promise?"

"I do."

I smiled warmly at the sight of my dearest friend getting married to the love of her life.

"And do you Snow White, promise to take this man as your husband and love him for all eternity?"

"I do." She replied looking lovingly up at her prince.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife." The priest announced and the entirety of the crowd cheered with joy.

With a wave of my hand, the flowers on the archway bloomed brightly like the peak of springtime.

Suddenly, just as the pair were about to kiss, the chapel doors burst open and revealed the Evil Queen.

"Sorry, I'm late." She mocked with a smirk. As she began to glide forwards, I blocked her way to my friends using my shadows to create a wall.

"It's the queen! Run!" Doc cried out in fear.

Regina easily knocked away the guards the charged her, before sending me a glare.

"Queenie." I acknowledged with a challenging raised brow.

"Flower Power." She responded with a sneer.

From behind me Snow unsheathed Charming's sword and pointed it towards Regina. "She's not a queen anymore! She's nothing more than an evil witch!"

"Don't stoop to her level." Charming told his bride. "There's no need."

"That's what I'm here for." I sneered at the witch, my eyes darkening as the shadows climbed up my arms and caressed my cheeks.

"You're wasting your time! You've already lost." The prince spoke stoically. "I will not let you ruin this wedding."

"Oh, I haven't come to ruin anything." Regina said with a mocking smile. "On the contrary, dear, I've come to give you a gift."

"We want nothing from you!" Snow spat, glaring down her stepmother.

"But you shall have it!" The ex-queen spoke, beginning to pace back and forth. "My gift to you is this happy, happy day."

"For tomorrow my real work begins! You've made your vows, now I make mine. Soon, everything you love... everything you all love, will be taken from you forever. And out of your suffering, will rise my victory! I will destroy your happiness, if it is the last thing I do." With a dramatic flourish of her cape, she turned to leave.

"Hey!" Charming stupidly announced his next move and waited for the witch to face him, before launching his sword passed my head and towards Regina's heart.

As expected the sword passed through the smoky cloud she had disappeared into.

"Why the hell did you get her attention before trying to impale her?!" I asked Snow's new husband, as my shadows faded into the walls.

Our World (present):

"Callie? Callie! Calliope Francesca Mills!"

I shot up in my seat, looking over at my best friend with wide eyes as she clapped her hands in front of my face.

"Sorry, V. What were you saying?" I asked sheepishly as she rolled her eyes.

"I said your mom's calling you." Veronica laughed pointing to the caller ID that flashed on my phone screen.

"Oh shit!" I said and answered it before it went to voicemail. "Hey, Mom! What's up?"

"Is Henry with you?"

"No I have rehearsal tonight, remember? Hen takes the bus home on rehearsal days." I told her in confusion.

"Well he's not here and I called the school and he's not there either."

I looked at my watch and furrowed my brow, realizing it would have been hours since anyone had seen my brother.

"I'll drive around town and look for him. Maybe I can get some of the drama kids to help look." I responded, beginning to pack up my stuff.

"No, you come right home. I don't want both of my kids wandering alone in the middle of the night."

"Callie, where are you going hon? Rehearsal isn't over." Mrs. Kettleburne asked, noticing my departure.

"Henry never made it home, my mom needs my help to look for him." I explained to the drama teacher/ guidance counselor.

"Oh dear! Is there anything we can do to help?"

"Ask around if anybody has seen him or just keep an eye out for him, anything you can do to help would be great!" I suggested hopefully.

"Of course sweetheart!"

"Mom, Mrs. Kettleburne and the drama kids are going to help look for Henry. Veronica and I are on our way over now." I told my mom, as Veronica grabbed her things too and we headed for my car.

"Tell them 'thank you'. I'm going to call the sheriff now, dear. I'll see you soon."

"See you soon, mom." I sighed, climbing into my grey Toyota. "And mom?"

"Yes, Calliope?"

"I'm sure Henry is fine, just don't lose hope." I told my mom with a small smile.

"Thank you, sweetie."

With that I hung up, giving my mom the opportunity to call the sheriff, and we drove off towards the house.

This was going to be a long night.
