Chapter 93
Christmas with Anthony was beyond anything Jazzy had ever imagined. Of course, they'd been together over past Christmases, but being engaged made it seem so much more special. Jazzy couldn't believe that she'd get to spend the rest of her life with Anthony.
They'd both agreed that they wanted a quiet Christmas because of everything going on in their lives. The tour took enough energy- they didn't need to throw a party, or celebrate too extravagantly.
To Jazzy, being with Anthony was more than enough.
They spent the entirety of Christmas morning singing overly loud Christmas songs and jumping around their apartment in pajamas, and then for lunch, they just ate waffles with strawberries and whipped cream on the top.
Following lunch, they decided that they would have an 'ice skating' competition, but instead of ice skates, they just wore socks and slid around on the floor. They gave each other marks for best tricks and such, and Jazzy won (of course).
Then Anthony suggested getting a Christmas tree. Jazzy was unsure at first- they were going to leave in about a week anyway. She didn't want it to die, but then Anthony said that Renee promised to take care of the Christmas tree if they decided to get one.
So, Jazzy let Anthony drag her out of the apartment (still wearing her flannel pajamas) to the tree lot, where they looked at all of the fluffy trees.
Anthony wanted a Charlie Brown Christmas tree, and Jazzy wanted a normal one. They ended up compromising and got a tiny (but fluffy) Christmas tree to put in their apartment.
Jazzy worked on setting the tree up in its own water container, while Anthony searched through their things to find the small stash of ornaments that they'd accumulated. Most of them were from their family's old trees, that both of them had taken when they moved out.
There were at least five from the original Hamilton cast- one from Pippa, with a picture of Jazzy and Anthony dancing during 'Helpless'; one from Renee, that was a picture of the Schuyler Sisters singing at the Super Bowl; one from Carleigh; and one from Daveed, with all of the guys singing 'Story of Tonight'.
Once Anthony found them, Jazzy carefully hung each ornament up while Anthony strung the lights onto the tree.
"It looks good!" Jazzy exclaimed when they were finished. "I think it's the best tree I've ever decorated."
"Sometimes too many ornaments are a bad thing," Anthony agreed. "Now, do you want to open presents?"
"Sure," Jazzy said. She hurried to her suitcase. She hadn't unpacked from the tour yet, which probably was a bad thing, because they were going to be leaving again soon, but she didn't care. She grabbed a silver wrapped present and headed back to the living room.
Anthony was returning from rummaging in his suitcase.
"You first," Jazzy said. She handed the present to Anthony, who carefully unwrapped the package.
There were several things in the box: a Hamilton tie, a new jacket, and a pair of cookie monster socks. Anthony laughed.
"I love them," he said, putting the cookie monster socks on immediately. "It's just what I wanted, thanks, Jaz."
He handed Jazzy her own gift.
Inside was a red beanie, a picture of the London Eye, and a mug that bore the words 'And Peggy' on them.
"I love them!" Jazzy exclaimed. "Thanks, Anthony."
"I wasn't sure if they were lame gifts," Anthony admitted.
"No. Just because we're engaged doesn't mean everything has to be pretty and romantic and super intricate. I don't want our relationship to change just because we're both trying too hard to be people we aren't."
"Okay, good, because that's why I got you the gifts that I got you," Anthony said, relieved.
They sat and watched TV for a while, and then Jazzy got a text from Pippa.
Pippa: omg i have big news!
Jazzy: WHAT
Pippa: Steven is taking me to get a keyboard then we're going for coffee!
Jazzy: YAY PIPPA THAT'S AMAZING! I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!
Pippa: i'm really excited! i think he's a really good guy, jazzy
Jazzy: i'm so glad, pips! you deserve every happiness
Pippa: i hope you're having a happy merry christmas!
Jazzy: it's been really fun! anthony and i went to get a tree, and we opened presents and such.
Pippa: i'm excited to get together with you and renee
Jazzy: same here! have a great rest of christmas!
"What do you want for dinner? I could make something fancy..." Anthony asked, looking up from his own phone.
"That's too much work. Let's order sushi," Jazzy decided.
"Thank god," Anthony laughed. "I was hoping you'd say that."
"I'm too lazy to cook on Christmas day," Jazzy admitted. "You know me too well. We'll order sushi and then we'll walk to the dog shelter and help out with all the dogs."
"I forgot about that tradition," Anthony said. "Now I'm excited to see all the doggies again."
"I thought I'd never hear you say 'doggies' ever in your life," Jazzy giggled.
"You know what, Jazzy? Men can say 'doggies'. It's very masculine," Anthony retorted.

funny story in creative writing my teacher asked us random questions like "name a song" and i said 'satisfied' so then she was like 'now that's your title for your short story, write something' so i lowkey wrote about a society that selects a person to be sacrificed to a carnivorous being every month and titled it 'satisfied' because the being eats the people
sorry the updates are so inconsistent, i'm lazy
