Chapter 168
The next day, the cast has a rehearsal. Jessa sees the Schuyler Sisters sitting in the corner, probably admiring Pippa's wedding ring as she gushes about the moment, Jessa guesses. It's probably an okay time to steal Lana away for a second.
Jessa knows that it is time to have another heart-to-heart, as much as the idea scares her. Jessa wouldn't have even considered dating Lana until Lana confessed her feelings first, but now that it has been said, and Jessa is starting to be more honest with herself, she realizes that she feels something too.
Jessa knows that it is time to solve this issue once and for all.
"I still just can't believe it..." Pippa says, as Jessa walks up. Jazzy and Lana squeal, and then, Jessa speaks up.
"Ladies, can I steal Lana for a moment?" she asks, quietly.
"Of course!" Jazzy replies. Lana gives Jessa a confused look, but what Jessa notices is the look that Jazzy and Pippa share. It seems like they have figured out exactly what is about to happen. It isn't hard to know, after all of the drama that has happened between the two of them.
Jessa and Lana walk away, into a corner of the auditorium, where Jessa takes a deep breath, then begins to talk.
"Look, Lana, I know that you might not want to talk about this, but I think that we need to... about us..."
Lana gulps. She knew that this was going to come up at some point, considering that she was rooming with Jessa.
"I know, I know... you just want me to turn off my feelings and find someone else to date..."
"No, actually, that isn't what I was going to say at all," Jessa tells Lana. "Um, I've been doing some thinking, and I realized that you've been honest with me, but I wasn't even being honest with myself. When I started being honest with myself, I realized that you aren't the only one feeling things Lana. I've known it for a while now, I guess, but I couldn't admit it until now."
Lana looks up at Jessa. "Are you saying what I think you're saying?"
"Lana, I think I like you too..."
The girls share a moment of silence, both unsure of what to say next, then, finally, Lana speaks.
"Well, uh, do you know what comes next?"
Jessa nods, fully aware. "I think that we need to try this, and see where it takes us."
"Are you sure?" Lana asks. "I mean, no offense, but this is sort of coming out of nowhere... you've been pretty adamant about not dating until now..."
Jessa nods. "I've spent a long time thinking about this, and I think that we are both in a good place. I think that you're ready, and I think that I'm ready. So, what do you say... do you want to get coffee or something sometime? As more than just friends?"
Lana's face lights up with a smile as she nods. "Absolutely. That sounds amazing."
"How about tomorrow morning?"
"That sounds perfect," Lana smiles. "My family is coming in in the afternoon, though, so I have to be done by 2:00 or so..."
"I mean, I was thinking we could go out at 9:30 or so, so unless anything really weird happens, then that shouldn't be an issue," Jessa laughs.
"That sounds perfect," Lana replies.
"Well, um, I'll let you get back to the other Schuylers, but I'll see you later?"
"Absolutely."
Jessa watches as Lana walks back to Jazzy and Pippa, and joins back into the conversation. She's sure that the topic of conversation is what her and Lana just talked about, but that's to be expected. It's become almost a running joke on the tour- you don't tell one Schuyler Sister something unless you want the other two to know.
In all honesty, it's nothing short of a miracle that the news about Steven proposing didn't get to Pippa before it happened...
Jessa laughs to herself, thinking of how bad that would have been.
"Everybody who is in 'Non-Stop' has thirty seconds to get onstage!" Daveed calls, breaking Jessa's train of thought. She curses under her breath and sprints down the aisle of the auditorium, hopping up onto the stage and taking her place in the nick of time.
For the rest of the day, the word of what has just happened inevitably gets out to the rest of the cast. This is due to two things. One is the fact that rumors spread like wildfire, and especially in a group as close as the tour cast. The second one, though, is simply due to the fact that neither Jessa nor Lana can seem to wipe the smiles off of their faces for the entire rest of rehearsal.
