Chapter 165
They all arrived at Disney early in the morning, when the park still wasn't open. The Disney officials gave them the basic rules of interacting with the children, as well as the basic idea of how they were going to get set up. They were performing in mid-morning, so not too early, but Disney was extremely thorough.
Steven followed the cast members into the huge tent which they had to change in. The girls were on one half, the boys on the other. It wasn't like anyone really cared about changing in front of each other that much, anyway, since they'd all been hanging around each other for months now.
Jessa could tell that Steven felt awkward hanging out with the girls while they changed, so she wasn't surprised when he went over to the guys instead.
Steven: you have the item, correct?
Jessa: yeah it's in my backpack, do you need it now?
Steven: i don't know... i'd rather not have it now since it would be obvious if i had it in my pocket, and having that on me for your yorktown performance would be distracting
Jessa: and you think i haven't been distracted HOLDING YOUR FREAKING ENGAGEMENT RING FOR YOU for A WEEK steven i swear to god
"Are you texting Steven?" Pippa asked.
Jessa spun around in her seat. "Um, not your Steven," she said quickly. "It's kind of an inside joke... Carleigh and I made up a whole story about a giraffe named Steven who is secretly in love with a gazelle. So. Yeah."
"Oh, yes, Steven the giraffe," Carleigh jumped in. "I love Steven the giraffe."
"You two are so weird," Pippa rolled her eyes and walked away.
"You need to be careful," Carleigh hissed when Pippa was out of earshot.
"She's like a freaking panther," Jessa groaned, closing her messaging app. "She pounces when I least expect it."
Jessa quickly changed Steven's contact name to Giraffe so that Pippa wouldn't get even more suspicious.
"There we go," Jessa said. "It's fine, we're fine, I'm not going to panic."
"You've almost made it," Lana added, walking over to them. "You can't screw up now. Think of how lame that would be."
"True," Jessa admitted.

Something about performing in Disney World was so magical to Pippa. She felt like a princess, twirling around in her Eliza costume. Everyone seemed so energized. All of the ensemble members were practically bouncing off the walls.
They walked down to their location right in front of the castle.
Before performing, professional Disney photographers snapped pictures of the cast with Minnie and Mickey. And the Disney officials handed each cast member Mickey Mouse ears (Hamilton themed, of course) to perform with. They were yellow and sparkly, and each ear had a star as a sort of earring.
People were starting to gather as the cast got into position.
"Hello hello hello!" the actor wearing the Mickey Mouse costume exclaimed into the mic. "Welcome to the Ham4Ham show... Disney edition! They are so happy to be here in the most magical place on earth performing for you today. This is the first international tour of Hamilton. The song they've chosen for you today is called 'Yorktown', and features all of their cast members. They're also performing in the Walt Disney Theatre, so you can come watch the whole show then, if you like."
"Without further ado, the cast of the first international tour of Hamilton."
Pippa couldn't contain her excitement as the first bars sounded. Even though she didn't do as much as everyone else, she still loved 'Yorktown', and doing it in Disney made it all the more special.
Somehow, the performance ended up being one of their best.
Before Pippa knew it, it was over, and the audience surrounding the cast members was applauding and screaming.
The cast took a bow.
They were allowed a few minutes to sign autographs in the little autograph books, and then they headed back behind the scenes of Disney to get changed.

Giraffe: the item, jessa, as soon as you can without pippa seeing
Jessa: steven she's literally changing right next to me it's not like i can do it now
Giraffe: well, as soon as possible
Jessa: don't worry, it'll get to you
Jessa quickly pulled out a baseball hat out of her backpack, tucking the ring inside of it.
"Hey, Steven, give this to Daniel, would you?" she asked, sticking her arm through the curtain. When Steven appeared in her line of sight, she gave him a tiny nod.
After she made sure Steven had a firm grip on the hat containing the ring, Jessa finally let out a sigh of relief that she didn't realize she'd been holding.
She'd gotten rid of the ring at last.
Now, she just had to contain herself until he actually proposed.
