Chapter 164

The day before opening night in Orlando, Daveed requests that the entire cast has a rehearsal, mostly for their "Yorktown" performance. It has to be perfect, and that's no secret.

As Jessa and Lana are getting ready, they realize that it is the last day they will have to keep Steven's ring for him.

"Thank God," Lana remarks. "That was the most stressful thing I've ever done."

"Same, honestly. I was so afraid I was going to lose it. I mean, that thing must be worth a fortune. Did you see that thing?" Jessa remarks.

"I think it's sweet of Steve," Lana says.

Jessa makes sure that the ring is tucked away safely in the hidden pocket of her backpack, which Pippa returned after her day at Animal Kingdom, where she apparently bought a new Mickey Mouse backpack, and then, the two of them leave for rehearsal.

Once the cast makes it to the theatre, they gather for a quick meeting, where Daveed hands out their revised, family-friendly sheet music.

"We are going to have a quick sitzprobe of this, and then, run it with the usual choreography. Just like our Tony performance, we won't be using guns... Disney has many rules that we must follow to perform, and I apologize for that, but I am sure that you can all see why," Daveed says. The whole cast nods, completely understanding the reasoning.

They run through the song with the track that the pit recorded the previous day, and then, it is time to add choreography.

"Please, please, please do not mess up your new lines..." Daveed begs, stealing a quick glance at Oak. Everyone knows the story of how he messed up his revision at the Tonys.

The first time that the cast puts everything together, it is a little bit rough, but by the end of their morning rehearsal session, they are feeling confident that it is performance-ready.

"Okay, everyone, take an hour off for lunch, and then come back and be ready to have a dress rehearsal for opening night, then a dress rehearsal for our Disney performance. Take it easy on your break, because it will be a pretty intense afternoon," Daveed announces.

Most of the girls are going out together for a bite to eat. Pippa already discussed this with Steven, but she still feels like she's abandoning him.

Pippa: you're absolutely sure that it is okay if i go out for lunch with the girls?

Steven: yeah, don't sweat it. I'm fine on my own, I promise.

Pippa: alright. i'll see you this evening for dinner?

Steven: Perfect, xx

Pippa smiles and puts away her phone, content and joining the rest of the girls for their lunch.

-----------------------------

It is actually really convenient for Steven that Pippa is going out for lunch with the girls, because it means that he won't have to worry about her being around at all during the day while he makes the final plans for his proposal.

After a lot of debating, he finally decided that it would be better to just have a small, intimate proposal instead of making a big spectacle. He doesn't want to risk embarrassing Pippa.

The plan is to propose right after the cast's performance. They will have an hour and a half to go around the park before they have to leave to prepare for opening night. This is perfect, Steven figures. He will be able to whisk her away, as soon as she is out of costume, and take her to the castle, on the side bridge where it usually isn't as busy. That's where he will get down on one knee and ask Pippa for her love and hand in marriage.

He feels completely giddy even thinking about it.

Everything has been perfectly planned. Pippa doesn't know this, but Steven even took a quick trip out to Chicago to meet her parents, who were thrilled to give Steven permission to marry their daughter.

"I'm so glad that she was able to recover from her past experiences and find true love," her dad remarks. "She's said nothing but good things about you, son." His words make Steven blush and smile.

"I'm so glad that I was able to be the one who helped her overcome her past experiences," Steven replies.

"I trust you know what happened, then?" Pippa's mom asks. Steven nods sadly.

"It hurts me that anyone would ever take advantage of her like that. I promise that those are not my intentions."

"We know, Steve," Pippa's mom assures him. "We wish you happiness. I know that she will say yes. She's absolutely smitten."

Everything is so perfectly planned out that the only things left to worry about are how Pippa will respond... and getting the ring from Jessa and Lana without Pippa finding out. That will be a hard one.
