Ch. 9: The Crusade Begins

Ever since Wade returned home, he noticed that the crime in his home town had only gotten worse. Nobody knew what to make of this sudden crime spree that suddenly erupted. The police were beside themselves, unable to make even a single move on the people causing all of this. Everything from organized crime to low-level thugs, gangs and enforcers; it was all happening here. People were saying that it was some type of trafficking ring and had all the aspects of one; guns, drugs and even people. The kidnapping/disappearance rate of the city had gone up three times the national rate, and not just young women and kids, but also men and women of all ages. That, combined with the amount of crime and violence in general, Cincinnati was on the verge of becoming one of the top crime-infested cities in the country. That is, unless somebody can step up and put a stop to it.

As soon as Wade had his suit ready, he was suited up and standing on the rooftops, watching over the city. He felt so crazily good to be in this suit, to finally be doing what he had worked so hard for all this time. This was a night Wade had only dreamed about for so long and it was finally upon him. Needless to say, he was also a bit nervous. Of course, who wouldn't be? This was like the first day of a new job, only much bigger than a regular job. So, Wade decided that for tonight, he would just start out small, do what little he could for now, and then move on to the much bigger things. So far, he was doing good too. He had already stopped two robberies, prevented an attempted assault, and stopped a carjacking. The best part about it was that the night was still young. There was still much more he could do. So, Wade kept at it.

He also got the idea that maybe another good place to check out was where he fought off those muggers last year; the same place he met Grandmaster at. He made his way over to the old motels and began to scope it out, see if there was still any suspicious characters hanging around there. It didn't seem like it because there was more cops around the place than Wade remembered last time. So, Wade moved on further down the street and he could not believe who he saw. It was the same group of thugs that Wade and The Grandmaster encountered that very night. It looks like they were hassling some poor young lady just walking home. Wade was certainly going to enjoy this.

"Hey assholes!" Wade called as he walked up to the gang, taking their attention away from the girl.

"What the fuck are you supposed to be?!" one of them asked. They all looked confused, weirded out and on the verge of laughing from seeing the likes of Wade in the suit he was in.

"Well, I would say your worst nightmare, but how many times has that been used? Am I right?" Wade grinned and they just looked even more confused. "Ugh, no sense of humor" Wade sighed. "Alright, well, straight to business then" he took out his staff and swung it around. "I doubt you guys remember me, but we've actually met before. That time, you were picking on an old man, and now a young girl? Man, you guys really are pathetic little fuckers, I'll give ya that"

"Ok tough guy, you wanna play? Let's play" the gang leader, who Wade remembered best, took out a butterfly knife as he walked towards the crowned crusader.

"Oh no, a small knife. I'm so afraid!" he exaggerated before smacking the leader with his staff.

"Hey!" one of his buddies drew his gun, which Wade used his telepathy to knock away.

Wade then charged at the offenders. He jumped into a kick and punch, knocking two of them out, before laying out the last guy with his staff. It was quick, swift, and over before any of them knew what was happening.

"Go, get outta here!" Wade urged and the girl ran off, shouting a thankyou as she did.

Wade then turned his attention back to the leader as he regained his stance. Wade knew he wasn't unconscious because he wasn't intending to knock him out. He had some reasons for keeping this one awake. As soon as the guy was on his feet, Wade lifted him up into thin air. The punk shouted and panicked as he suffered the freakish events.

"Who do you work for?" Wade asked.

"Wha-what?!"

"I know you've gotta be working for someone and don't play dumb with me or I'll crush you little by little" he threatened.

No, he wouldn't actually do that, but this guy didn't know.

"No no, please, I'll tell you anything you want" he quickly replied.

"Who's your boss?!"

"Ok, look, he's not really my boss. We just did some bus-*gets shaken in the air a little* Ah! Ok! Ok! He calls himself Big Blimp! He and his whole crew occupy that joint on 9th street!"

"Sounds like bullshit to me" Wade said just to check if he was lying.

"No no! I fucking swear! That's where they are!" he practically begged.

"You're not lying to me?" Wade asked.

"I'm not, I swear" he now cried.

He then screamed when Wade pulled him back towards him, grabbing him by his shirt and looking him straight in the eyes.

"You and your friends got it easy tonight, it won't happen again if I catch you doing this shit ever again. So either clean up your act, or get the hell out of my city, got it?"

"Yea, I got it man" he nodded frantically.

"And if you have any other friends that you pass on the way, be sure and let them know what happened here. Tell them I'm gonna give em the same choice I just gave you; and if they don't make the right one, they're next"

He shoved the punk back and the punk took off running the very second he was on his feet. Wade flipped his staff around again before replacing it in it's holster. And now, on to 9th street. Even though Wade wanted to start out small on his first night, he thought might as well and since the night was still young and he was up to it. Besides, his confidence and determination had only increased with each deed he committed. That, and he felt like doing something that was a little big; something that would kick the door in and get him started on taking down the organized crime happening here.

X

Wade got to 9th street and could already tell, just by sight, what trashy buildings this Big Blimp guy and his crew occupied. He stood across the street and observed the little motel and bar building that these guys basically owned now. Wade remembered how this place was before this. It was actually a real "classy joint" as they say. By all means, a nice place. But now, it looked like the worst place to be. These guys just had to stroll in and completely ruin it. Wade was going to make positively sure that these guys regretted ever stepping foot in his city. He just stood on the sidewalk for a few moments, observing the building and it's occupants. He didn't really have a plan or a good layout of the place. If he did this, he would just have to wing it and go in on sight. There was a lot of bad guys in there, so this would be the first big fight Wade ever had. It seemed a bit scary, but Wade felt confident nonetheless. All he had to do was remember his training, stick to his game plan and these guys would never touch him.

After a while, two thugs that appeared to be members of Big Blimp's crew stepped out. They were laughing and chatting about something until they spotted the odd looking gentleman standing across the street.

"What the..." one of the guy's couldn't even finish.

"Hey homie! This ain't Halloween! Whatchu want, trick or treat or somethin?!" the other guy shouted.

"Actually, I'm here for target practice" Wade took out his staff, making sure it was on non-lethal, and picked them off one after the other. "Damn, shit really works" he said before walking up to the building. The second of the two thugs was still conscious, barely. "Oh, and trick or treat bitch" Wade landed a stomp that rendered him completely unconscious.

"What the hell?" he heard on the second floor balcony. He then quickly blasted the guy before he could call his friends. Now Wade knew he had to move quick because odds are, somebody saw their buddy get knocked out and was on the search for whoever did it.

Wade entered the large premises and began making his way through the hallways. As he did, he elbowed one of the crew members as he was about to charge out. He also kicked another on the other side of the hallway as he was about to charge out as well. Wade then turned a corner, where he saw a bunch of the gang coming out. They stopped when they noticed the red armor suited trespasser walking towards them. They immediately knew this was the guy, but were caught by surprise and confusion by his outfit. Wade smirked that his outfit had that effect. The gang started hollering and acting tough towards Wade as he slowly walked closer, flipping his staff around as he did. Wade knew how this was going to be and knew it would be best if he had two smaller weapons instead of one large one. So, he twisted the two halfs until they detached and separated. He then flipped them around and readied himself in a way that was daring them to come at him.

The gang, with all of their melee weapons, charged at him. One by one, Wade started blocking their hits and knocking them down. He combined his staff half hits, he'll need to get a better name for them, with his kicks and elbows, or any body part he could use as a weapon that is, in taking down his attackers. These guys were no match for the likes of a Minion Lord. Even when a few of them pulled out guns, that still didn't help one bit. If anything, it helped Wade. He would either disarm them as fast as lightning before knocking them out, or block or force them in a different direction, hitting their friends in the shoulder or leg. Wade was like a fighting bulldozer, strolling through the hallway of enemies with his staffs and techniques. Wade took down one last adversary with a staff before knocking out the last guy with a spinning heel kick. And now, the rest of the way towards their leader was all clear.

Wade walked towards the room he could hear other people shouting from. It had to be Big Blimp and his top guys. Wade kicked the door down, stepped into the living room area and saw about six people. One of them he was sure was the man he was looking for, Big Blimp. He knew it was him because he could easily tell how he got the name. Big Blimp was one huge dude. He had dark skin, a bald head, a goatee that went into a little twirl under his chin, and looked mean as hell. Wade even said, "You must be Big Blimp" and he nodded. Wade examined the five other people in the room before piecing the two parts of the staff back together. Two of them were standing in front of Wade, one on the side of the room next to him, and the last two were behind Blimp on the other side of the living room table. Wade also looked around the trashy room and saw the number of guns, knives, drugs and money these guys had lying around.

"Ok, so who's next?" Wade half-grinned with a flip of his staff.

The three gang members around him made their move. Wade used his staff to block the two in front of him before kicking the first guy away. Then, striking his buddy with the staff and knocking down the third man as he came running at him. Wade then blasted the guy who went for the gun behind the table, sending him into the big flatscreen television. He then finished his work with the first two by knocking out the second guy and then position his staff to where he could rapidly smack at the first guy's head and groin. The dude pretty much passed out before the fifth guy came running towards Wade with a machete. How or why exactly did these guys have a machete? There was no telling. It was fairly easy for Wade to block his attacks with the machete, do to the fact this guy was more than fairly sloppy with that thing. He was just wildly swinging as fast and as hard as he could without any technique or chance of defending himself. Of course, he didn't have any training like Wade, but it was still embarrassing. Wade just couldn't help but toy with the guy a little. He gave him light hits to the ribs, legs and shoulders every chance he got. Of course, with a staff like that, even light hits had their mark. It wasn't long before the guy went full on rage mode and got even more aggressive with his swings, resulting in a quick and easy knockout. Now, all that was left was Big Blimp himself. Wade placed the staff back in it's holster, walked up to the big man and smiled.

"I dunno who you are ninja boy, but Big Blimp's gonna crush you" the gang leader said in an intimidating manor, but dropped to his knees after only one punch to the gut.

"Big Blimp just got deflated" Wade countered with a smirk.

The gang leader grunted in pain on the floor for a moment before Wade knelt down, meeting his eyes.

"Ok big guy, now you get to tell me how you were able to get your hands on all these drugs, weapons and other cool shit you have" Wade said in a light-hearted tone.

"Fffuck you" he grunted and Wade just giggled.

"Look, I don't have much time before the cops show up" he took out his staff and split it in two. "So, you can tell me now, *sticks one of the blades out* or in a few short minutes"

And that was all it took.
