Ch. 8: Coming Home
Cincinnati, Ohio, 3 days later...
For the past year, Bob has been using the same science lab warehouse that was once the Fischbach Industries, the one they used to help out Mark and Jack a little over a year ago now, as his base of projects and operations. Of course, he had often used it as such before and the building was still technically owned by Mark's company. But lately, he's been using it for much bigger purposes. He was using it for his own new mission in life to be exact. Every chance he got, he was in the lab and working his butt off. Thanks to both his and the building's connections to Mark and his company, Bob had access to an unlimited amount of some pretty sweet technology. He was currently there right now, working on a new fancy gadget, when he got an unexpected visitor.
"Wade?!" he said when he turned at the surprising knocking sound he heard and saw his friend in the entrance way. "Holy shit, hey man!" he happily went up to his friend and gave him a hug.
"It's good to see you again, Bob" Wade smiled into the hug.
"You too man, I was starting to get worried" he pulled out of the hug. "When did you get back?"
"Just a couple of days ago actually" he replied, surprising Bob. "Yea, sorry, I just needed to... get used to being back, spend some time with my family, let everyone know I was back, all that happy stuff"
"Well hey, that's fine man, it's great to have you back" Bob grinned. "What brings you here?"
"I was gonna drive up to see you, but then I heard you were here, which surprised me" Wade stated.
"Yea, uh... remember right before you left when I said I was working on something? Well, this is it" he gestured all around. "At first, it was just some small ideas, blueprints and a plan. But, after you set out to find your big purpose, I decided to come down here, take all my ideas and blueprints and bring them to life. Thus, finding my own purpose"
"That's great, I'm real happy for you" Wade grinned.
"Thanks Wade" he walked back to show Wade what all he's been doing. "Mark's been a big help in getting me all this stuff I needed and letting me use this building. But hey, enough about me. How have you been man? Where did you go? And what all happened to you? You seem different"
"I am different, and I'll tell you all about it while we work" he smiled.
"Work?" Bob asked, raising an intrigued eyebrow.
"Yep, on my new suit to be exact" he smirked.
"Suit? You mean suit suit?" he excitedly asked.
"What do you think?"
It was then when Bob noticed the large bag Wade was carrying as he brought it up and set it on the desk. He then unzipped it to bring out both his staff and the crown.
"Woah" Bob said upon seeing the crown. "What are those?"
"Well, this is a crown" Bob rolled his eyes from obvious statement. "And, it's going to be the headpiece of my new suit" now Bob was intrigued again, with interest.
Wade had a basic idea of what he wanted the suit to be. He needed some type of full body armor that could keep him safe without weighing him down or disrupting his running or parkour-ing or anything in any way. With his training, he probably didn't necessarily need any armor. But then again, considering what all he was bound to face, and the fact that not all Minions succeeded at their missions, it definitely wouldn't hurt to have some type of armor. He didn't expect it to be anything too fancy, but fancy is what Bob did here.
"So, you are now Lordminion777 of a secret society of ancient protectors of the earth?" Bob asked as he worked on the materials for Wade's suit.
"Something like that" Wade nodded.
"And you like... move things with your mind now?"
"Something like that" Wade smirked this time.
Bob turned in his chair with a curious look. "Hand me that screwdriver over there" he pointed towards the screwdriver in the toolbox that was just out of Wade's reach.
Wade smirked as he lifted it up and hovered it towards his friend. Bob laughed in amazement as the tool hovered in his hand.
"That is fucking awesome man!" he giggled.
"Something else, right?" he grinned.
"And that golden staff of yours, everything about that is for real?"
"I haven't tested it out yet. We'll play around with that later"
"Alright, and are you sure they wouldn't mind you sharing all these secrets with me?" Bob asked, not wanting to his pal to get in trouble just for this.
"Please, you're practically in the same boat as I am. And besides, as the Lord Minion, I think they would trust me with whatever now" he assured.
"Ok man" he giggled again. "Alright, come take a look at this"
Wade jumped to his feet and went over to Bob's table to see what he had made. He noticed the fancy but pint-sized armored vest he had been working on.
"Now, this isn't gonna be a part of the suit of course" Bob mentioned and they both laughed. "This is just a small example of what it could be"
"Looks pretty cool" Wade mentioned. "What is it made of?" he asked as he held it up to examine it.
"It's a more fabric-based outfit, I figured that would work best with you, and the fabric is ballistic Kevlar" Bob informed as he walked somewhere behind Wade.
"Ballistic kev... wait, you mean-" he turned to see Bob holding a pistol.
"Yes Wade"
*BOOM!*
"It's bulletproof"
Wade relaxed once he realized the vest had stopped the bullet. He swore his life had flashed before his eyes.
"Would it have killed you to tell me that BEFORE YOU FUCKING SHOT ME?!"
Bob just evily giggled as he flipped the gun around his finger like a western gunslinger. He then set it back down before walking back to Wade.
"It also has light armor plating, making it very tactical as well, and some spandex material with carbon nanotube fibers. This'll allow you to do your circus stunts without any tearing while also remaining resistant to flames, chemicals, bullets and all that happy stuff"
Wade was impressed by the complexity of the suit. Bob really knew his stuff, even if there was a chance he was now a psychotic, gun-happy lunatc.
"So, so far so good?" Bob smiled, very much in a smug, proud of himself manor.
"You know I'm gonna kill you, right?"
Bob just laughed.

They spent the rest of the week working on the suit, and playing around with Wade's staff. Bob had set up these targets so Wade could test out both the lethal and non-lethal blasts that his staff shoots. The non-lethal ones merely knocked the targets back, but the totally lethal ones completely obliterated the targets, leaving nothing but pieces of them. Wade and Bob jokingly agreed they would not want to be the guy on the other end of those blasts. They also decided to split it in two and see how it works then. They couldn't shoot any energy blasts while in separate form, but they were still more than deadly. They couldn't analyze what it was made of, but it was stronger then most metals. It was likely to knock somebody out with one hit, if not leave them begging to be unconscious or dead. As for being able to grow two different blades when separated, Grandmaster wasn't kidding. They didn't know how, but when Wade pressed the buttons, two blades shot out at the inner openings. The big knives curved at the end and were pure shiny silver. They weren't real thick, but as strong as any blade. This just made Wade incredibly eager to use it.
Back to the suit, it was turning out even better than Wade imagined. The whole suit in general was basically finished. A perfectly well made body armored suit just the way they planned it. They also added protective armored gauntlets for Wade's lower arms and legs with leather gloves and nomex boots. All it needed now was a paint job and for them to attach the crown. Wade already knew what color he wanted it to be too; a nice red and black. Even though Mark also had those colors, Wade didn't care. Besides, Mark's was mostly black with some pink, and Wade's was going to be mostly red and with some gold rather than pink. That, and Wade looked good in red. However, speaking of Mark and Bob, they did contribute in what Wade was now doing in some way. So, Wade decided to tip his hat off to them in a certain way. He had planned to put a W on the front torso of his suit, but also wanted it to have some above-average design, or at least something neat that would draw in people's interest and admiration. So, Wade decided on a Minecraft W. How did that contribute to Mark and Bob? It goes back to their gaming days. Some of the best of times Wade had ever shared with Mark and Bob was playing Minecraft while drunk. They couldn't do it anymore since Mark was no longer able to consume alcohol do to a broken enzyme, or even now since Mark likely couldn't get affected by alcohol at all. But they were great times. Wade will never forget how much fun they were. But the Minecraft W wasn't quite enough. Wade just felt as if it needed something more, something where he could really call it his own. It had to be something that truly represented him and who he was. So, he decided to add in the Minion crown hanging on the W's top left cornor. That, combined with it's Minecraft style, worked out spectacularly.
"Wow, lookin good Wade" Bob said as he came over to the computer Wade was designing it on and examined his new symbol.
"Thanks" he proudly replied. "And, printing...now" he clicked and the desing began it's processing.
"Awesome, we're almost done now" Bob noted and they started walking towards the suit. "I also tested to see if the crown itself was bulletproof. I figured it would be of course, but better safe than sorry, right? And turns out, that thing is even stronger armor then the rest of your suit" Wade was amazed by that notion. "Yea, and I added sort of a protective collar for the neck of the suit, made by the same fabric as the rest of it. It'll protect your neck from anything deadly, but you'll also still be able to turn your head. I also attached a head mask to the collar, the same one that your crown is now latched to. That way, you can strap it on when you suit up and take it down without losing or dropping it if needed. That, and the mask will also protect parts of your head that the crown may not cover. And yes, it's all gonna be red too"
"Wow, thanks Bob" Wade said as he examined the suit being stood up in the center of the paint room.
"Of course" he patted him on back. "I gotta go run a few errands with Mandy. I should be back by the time you finish and I'll help you put the symbol on. You sure you want to paint this by yourself?"
"Positive" Wade nodded.
"Alright man" Bob laughed. "You know where everything is and I'll see you later" he said as he left Wade to himself with the suit.
"See ya"
There was hardly any part of the suit that Wade didn't paint red. He left part of the waist area, the boots and part of the gloves black, but everything else was mostly red. He also took some gold paint and put it around the wrist, the waist and the knees of the suit. It was a little hard to paint the head area without getting any paint on the crown, but Wade managed. Just as promised, once Wade was done, Bob had returned just in time to put the symbol on. It wasn't terribly complexed, so they knew they could paint it on there themselves. They started out with the simple outlines with the colors they needed. That was the hardest part. As for filling in the spaces, that was the best part. It felt like almost an hour, but they got it finished perfectly.
Wade's suit was finished, and it was a thing of beauty.
"Wow" Wade sighed as he examined the finished suit. "Hello Lord Minion"
"Great work man, you are gonna rock!" Bob said proudly and encouragingly.
"Thanks Bob, and thankyou for helping me with this" he placed a thankful hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, no problem man" Bob nudged him in the side. "Oh, and I almost forgot, you probably noticed I added a little slot on the back for you to put your staff in when needed. You can also adjust it if you need to"
"Yea, I figured there would be one, thankyou" Wade smiled.
"Well, looks like you're ready to clean up the city and save the day"
"Betchur ass I am"
He was right too, and fully prepared as well. Since Wade had gotten back, he noticed that the crime around here had gotten even worse. And now, it was time to fight.
