Ch. 14: Salty Stories of the Boys

After Wade and his new friends left the compromised hideout, he led them all the way to the warehouse, the one where he and Bob made his super suit. They didn't run into any trouble along the way. Most of the units that were sent after them must have been dealt with or were too far now. They had to sneak around in case the cops or anyone else was still looking for them, but encountered nothing like they did just a few moments ago. They sneaked all the way to the warehouse and ran up to the entrance like a band of ninjas. Wade typed in the code on the pad next to the door, but didn't get the right beeping sound. He typed it in again, but got the same response.

"What the hell?" Wade asked as he typed it in a third time, but still the same results.

"What's wrong?" JP asked.

"I don't know, Bob must've... shit, today's the day he has to change the code again" he suddenly realized.

"Hold on, I can get us in" Gar chimed in as he walked up to the door and pulled his sleeve up, revealing a touch pad strapped to his wrist before taking a smaller device out from it and attaching it to the typing pad. Gar then started typing away on his own pad to get in.

"What're you...are you hacking into the system?" Wade asked.

"No, I just like doing this to piss people off" he joked.

"Oh haha that's funny" Wade replied.

"Don't worry, he knows his shit" Patrick laughed.

"Well, good luck, that's like a C.I.A. type of system there" Wade stated.

But right after he said that, he heard the correct beep and the door unlocking itself. Wade just stood there with a stunned look. Nobody had ever hacked into that security system before, let alone in seconds.

"I call them Gar Hax" the hacker stated with a cocky smile before entering the warehouse. Wade just stood there with that stunned look as Patrick and JP follwed Gar inside.

"Gar Hax?!"

"Sir, there's no sight of them. We've lost any and all traces of them" Lieutenant Benson stated.

"Damnit" Chambers grumbled. "Alright, call back Blades and all the other hunting parties. But keep all searching ones and surveillance units down there. And get these images out there and put out a statewide alert. If they so much as peak an eye out, I want us to be there and waiting"

"Yes sir"

Back at the warehouse, Wade left the three boys in the lounge area to get more acquainted. He went to remove his suit and get into some regular clean clothes before joining them. He sat in a lounge chair at the end of the glass table. JP sat on his left, Patrick on the right and Gar at the other end.

"Alright, now that we're all here and safe, why don't we just try to get to know each other a little better and try to figure out where we go from here?" Wade suggested.

"Ok, I feel like we're in one of those group therapy sessions" JP laughed and so did the others.

"Well, I guess in a way, you could say that" Wade nodded. "I just want us to learn more about each other since we're now all in the same situation and being chased by the same people. Especially since now we're likely to stick together and will need to figure all this out together" everyone seemed to be in understanding and agreement. "So tell you what, why don't we just reintroduce ourselves and say what we are or how we got our powers, and how we all got into this... crazy mess?"

The others looked to each other for a moment before nodding in agreement.

"Ok, but you go first" Patrick said and the other two agreed while Wade laughed.

"Ok ok, I'm Wade 'Lordminion777' Barnes and I'm-"

"Wait, Lordminion777? What is that?" JP cut off.

"Yea, I was wondering the same thing" Patrick followed.

"Well, I was about to-"

"Is that like a Despicable Me thing?" JP cut off again.

"No, it is not like a Despicable Me thing, JP" Wade retorted.

"Well then, wha-"

"He's an ancient warrior" Gar chimed in, capturing everyone's interest, especially Wade's. "A trained fighter for battling injustice and evil in any and all forms. I know my history too Wade" he winked.

"I'm impressed" he nodded. "Anyway, yea and I was taking down the crime syndicate that was tearing at this city, was doing real well at it too. And then the next thing I know, I'm being chased around by the military"

Everyone started clapping like it was an actual group therapy session. Wade couldn't help but chuckle a little bit.

"Very interesting story" Patrick said.

"Yea, try being the main character" he scoffed. "And you Gar Bluemoon are a Demon Wolf"

"Hey, don't steal my thunder" Gar said and they all giggled.

"I've read about your kind too Gar, but no-one knew if there was really any good ones. There wasn't much on demon wolves in general really"

"Yea, we tend to keep to ourselves a lot" he nodded.

"Wait, how can you be a good Demon Wolf?" JP wondered out loud.

"I'll get into that later" he replied.

"He's right, we have more important things to talk about now" Wade stated.

"Ok" JP shrugged, a little disappointed.

"Anyway, I think Patrick should go before me" Gar noted.

"Alright, Pat?" Wade nodded, eager about his story the most. "You got your powers from the Matthias stones, didn't you?"

"Matthi-what?" Pat asked, confusing Wade.

"Matthias stones? Glowing gems from outer space?" he explained, but Pat still seemed confused in his own right.

"I don't know about glowing gems, but it was something from outer space, technically at least. It was a meteor" he explained.

"Yea, that's right,, they come in on meteors" Wade said. "Oh sorry, go on"

"Well, I was at a golf course one day and I was heading back to the clubhouse because a storm had arrived all of a sudden. Then, before anyone knew it, that meteor pops out of the sky and... it was so trippy too, because it was like the lightning had somehow gotten caught on or caught under the meteor. But anyway, it crashes into the course and the lightning goes haywire and hits me right in the chest. And if that didn't kill me, then the part where I fall in the lake and drown should've. But instead, the next thing I knew, the water was dispersing around me and lightning was erupting from my body. Ever since then, I've been able to summon electricity and bend water"

"And bend water?!" Wade asked in amazement.

"Yep, and after that, I started traveling the west coast, because that's where I'm from, and fighting crime. But then, in comes the troops and suddenly I'm a wanted man, and that's when I bumped into Gar"

"And I found him when they were about to capture him and helped him out" Gar followed. "I could've brought him back to my home; but for all I knew, I would've led those guys straight to my tribe. So, I stuck with Patrick. And also, to find out what's going on and stop them before they do discover my tribe. We've been travelling across the country, avoiding them at all cost until tonight"

"Until tonight?" Wade asked.

"We saw them taking you away and thought we could help out" Patrick explained.

"Wait, so you intentionally made yourself known and get caught?" he asked again.

"Yep, we thought we could either help you out or follow you to wherever it was they were taking you" Pat stated.

"Couldn't you two have just followed me while I was in the truck?"

"You've seen me fly Wade, you honestly think anyone wouldn't notice if I was following?" Pat smirked.

Wade thought about that for a second, remembering the light show he put on when hovering.

"Point taken" he shrugged and they giggled.

"Great!" JP chimed in. "Now can I tell my story please?"

"Not with that attitude mister" Wade joked, but complied once he gave him the pouty face.

"Well, believe it or not, I'm actually an alien" he stated, and that was the last thing any of them were expecting.

"Woah wait, a what?!" Wade asked, beating the others to it.

"You heard me, an alien" JP smiled.

"You're shitting me?" Patrick said and JP shook no.

"So, I've got a mutant, a demon wolf, and an alien sitting with me and all this other shit in one night. What.. the hell?" Wade sighed as he leaned back in his seat. It really was hard to believe that in this one eventful night, he went from taking down a crime boss to fighting the military and encountering these crazy beings.

"Technically, I was born here on Earth, but my parents are from a different planet" he explained.

"What planet?" Gar asked.

"It's called Cardassia" he stated.

"Sounds like something from Star Wars" Wade said.

"It kind of is actually" JP laughed. "But don't ask how please"

"What are your people called?" Patrick asked.

"The name of our species is Cardassian Oct"

"Kardashian Oct?" Wade asked.

"No! Cardassian, it's different" JP said, and then had to spell it for him.

"So, what happened?" Gar asked.

"Well, according to my parents, they had to leave because it really wasn't that great of a planet, and it was basically destroying itself. So, my parents come here to have peaceful lives and raise a family, right? And they, we, are able to take human forms so we can blend in and not have to worry about people who are scared of aliens. But I guess that only worked for so long. We were all living out in Florida; it was me, my parents and my two brothers; and I guess they must've discovered us somehow because one day they just came charging after us. I just barely got away, all by myself, and my family was taken somewhere, but I don't know where. To be honest, I don't even know if they're still alive. But anyway, I've been running on my own ever since and searching around for... anybody who can help. Then, I passed by you and you know the rest"

"Yea, you were following me around like a perverted teen" Wade said and they giggled a little. "But seriously though, I'm sorry about your family. I promise I'll do everything I can to help you find them"

"We all will" Pat added.

"Hell yes" Gar followed.

"Thanks guys, I appreciate it" JP nodded.

"Sure" Wade nodded. "After all, you did help us out with our escape, it's the least we can do. That, and frankly, we're all each other has now" he stated and everyone nodded knowingly.

"So, where do we go from here?" Gar asked, all eyes on Wade now.

"Well, first thing's first I guess; what do we have to go on? Besides the fact the military is hunting us I mean. Does anybody know why? I mean, I can guess why, but we didn't do anything wrong. We've been doing the exact opposite actually"

"I wish we could tell you Wade, but we haven't been able to come up with anything since it started, not even a little bit" Patrick stated.

"Yea, I haven't either" JP added.

"But can't you like... look it up or something?" Wade asked, directed towards Gar.

"I could, but we don't know where to even start" Gar stated.

"So much for Gar Hax" Wade snarked.

"Oh, ha ha" Gar snarked back.

"What about that Blades guy? We know anything about him?"

"I've seen him around before" JP said. "The guy doesn't play, and he's got some serious issues, for real"

"Yea, we've seen him too" Pat added. "Guy's a nut, but he's smart, quick, and orchestrated"

"And he's committed too" Gar added. "I mean that as in he's a hell of a hunter. Of course, I guess psychotic killers typically are"

"No shit" Wade replied. "I got that figured out just from back at the hotel, and the rooftop. But is there anything we know about him besides the obvious?" he asked.

The others looked at each other for a moment before they all shook their heads and said "No".

"Maybe if we got his real name, that would be something, but we don't" Gar stated.

"I kind of did" Wade stated, catching their attention. "When we were fighting, I got a look at his name tag. It said A dot Blades. Of course, I'm sure that's a fake"

"What makes you say that?" JP asked.

"Well, don't you think it's a little too ironic that a guy named Blades is also made out of them?"

"Yea, good point" Gar replied. "Chances are, it's a protective, military-code classified one too. If we try to dig up what it's hiding, we're likely just to hit a dead end. Maybe even lead them straight to us"

"Well, there's gotta be something we can do. We can't just stay here and be stuck hiding out for the rest of our lives" Wade stated.

"Maybe I can help"

The four men jumped to their feet at the sound of a woman's voice. Wade turned to see the hooded stranger as she stepped closer. It was somebody he did not expect to see again.

"Molly?"

She smiled from the look of shock he had. That, and she actually felt happy to see him again.

"Wait, you know this girl?" Pat asked.

"Uh, sort of" he replied. "Wait, how did you find us? And how did you get in here?"

"I've been following on and off since the hotel. No offense, but you guys really aren't that stealthy" she stated.

"Well, that hurts" JP said. "I thought we were great"

"Oh I'm sure she had some type of tracking system in her suit" Wade assured.

"Got me, but you also forgot to lock that door" she admitted and they felt awfully stupid. "Nice to see you remembered my name though. That's actually impressive"

"Thanks" he nodded awkwardly with furrowed eyebrows. "But why are you here?" he honestly wondered.

It was obvious she wasn't going to take them in. She was without her armored suit, dressed in casually discrete clothing and without any backup. So, there was no telling why she was here.

"Like I said, I wanna help. I heard about the murders at that hotel. They're pinning it on the strange figure who's been going around in a red suit" that was some pretty alarming news to Wade. These guys had some nerve.

"But I know it wasn't you that killed them"

Now that had Wade's intrigue.

"How do you know?"

"Well, why didn't you kill me too?" she shrugged with a smile and Wade smirked.

"Wait a minute" Patrick chimed in. "You do realize you're helping out wanted fugitives, right? The same ones your superiors are after?"

"I know, but I signed up as a Foxtrot because I thought I was serving my country, not taking part in killing innocent people. And after hearing you guys tell your stories, it doesn't seem like I'm actually on the right side" she stated. "I don't know what's going on here anymore than you guys do, but I think I can help you find out"

The four friends looked at each other for a moment in deciding.

"Can you give us a moment?" Gar asked.

"Sure" she nodded and stepped back to let them debate.

The four got a little closer, almost like in a huddle.

"You think we can trust her?" Gar whispered.

"Well, if we couldn't, we would probably know by now" Wade whispered back.

"Yea, and she's the best chance we've got right now" JP added.

Patrick nodded when Gar looked at him and nodded as well.

"Ok, bring her back"

"Alright, Molly!" he slightly hollered and she returned. "How can you help us?"

"I have a little bit of access and some friends who can help with the rest" she informed.

"And you're sure about doing this? Cos you know what could happen if you get caught?" Wade checked.

"I won't get caught, trust me" she stated with full confidence.

Wade smiled from her boldness and kindness. He had to admit, he admired this girl. And yes, he liked her too, obviously.

"Thankyou for this" he kindly said.

"Hey, no problem" she shrugged with a shy smile. "Just stay here until I get back. They put out a statewide alert on you guys, saying you're some type of... cult extremists"

"Of course" Patrick said. "Saying that or it being something sexual is always the perfect way to make everyone wanna find you and kill you" the others slightly giggled.

"We'll be here, just try not to take too long, please" Wade smirked.

"Why? You'll miss me?" she smirked back.

"Not really, but these guys make me nervous" he playfully shrugged.

"Well, good, you need it. It'll help you stay vigilant and not get caught again" she continued to smirk as she walked away. Her comment earned a few "Oooo's" from the others and Wade couldn't help but grin.

"Do we really make you nervous?" JP asked once he turned back.

"Yea! I've only met you guys tonight after all, and you freak me out" Wade said and they laughed again. "Alright listen, we've all had a long ass night and then some, so everyone get some sleep. There's a map on the wall there that'll show you the way to the bunk room. You guys make yourselves at home and get some rest"

Wade began to head off to leave the boys to themselves, but was stopped when Patrick spoke up.

"Hey Wade" he turned to face his new friends. "Thanks for helping us out"

Wade just looked at the three youngsters for a moment, seeing their grateful looks and feeling that same gratitude. He also got that feeling again, like he was doing what he was meant to be doing. That he was doing exactly what The Grandmaster knew he would do. He knew this would be a night that would change things forever, and these three young men would be a big change for him. They risked their lives for his tonight, and he would do whatever it takes to return the favor.

"Right back at ya guys" he said before heading off.

Wade had experienced an even longer night than the three of them combined and needed his own rest. Especially, if he was to prepare for what would begin tomorrow.
