For some reason, the whole year seemed to dread on for Adrien yet again. He understood there were less time to communicate with his lady due to finals and projects, but it was the fact of waiting for the next call or text message from her was unbearable when he was alone.
By this time, Adrien had completed his general studies degree and have received his diploma. Now he was working with his father about where he was going to live with Marinette and how work was going to be for both of them.
Speaking of work, Adrien sort of ruined the surprise hilariously by telling Marinette about the career position with his father's company on her birthday recently. He just blubbered on about work that night when they were hanging out at her parents' home. When Marinette caught the conversation, she nearly fainted with her manikin in her bedroom. He remembered how happy and excited she looked when she came to and watched her jump around in joy.
He wants to see his lady smile like that all the time. The most joyous times, or unknowingly through the rough and hard times. When he sees Marinette smile, Adrien couldn't help to either ask why she was very happy or to smile back at her.
Adrien planned to surprise Marinette on campus during the couple's anniversary this year. He may have over done his appearance by driving up in his own car, his blonde hair slicked back, and in a very casual appearance with a bouquet of red and black roses. With no bodyguard at his side, he walked fairly casually around the school grounds for someone with the last name like Agreste.
After visiting her a few times already, Adrien knew where he was walking from the visitor parking lot to Marinette's dorm.
As he passed the café, he checked if Marinette was still working and found her name on the list of graduating employees of the year. He peeked into the big window, trying to spot the blue haired young woman. With no luck, he heard the door open and saw the male student they met during moving day.
The guitar player had grown into a handsome brown haired man who looked like he was model ready for a musician magazine, at least that what Adrien thought about him. He saw Adrien and waved. "Been a while, Agreste. How's it going?" he asked.
"Not too bad, I would say." Adrien replied, shrugging his shoulders.
"You're here to visit Marinette aren't you?" the man asked, pointing to the bouquet of flowers.
"Well, of course." Adrien smiled a bit as he gripped the wrapped stems of the roses in his hands
"She's been busy with the graduate fashion show. She says she's behind a couple designs and having a hard time getting a hold of a model replacement. Did she call you yet?"
Adrien thought about their previous conversations before rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand. "No...she hasn't told me anything about the fashion show. I would love to be the stand in for her."
The guitar player smiled. "Great! Should I text her and tell her you're here- "
"N-No! Please, I'll tell her myself." Adrien said, trying to straighten up his attitude. "I should get going."
"Sure thing, Adrien!" the man smiled a bit. "Don't have too much fun with your lady!" he laughed a bit before walking the other direction of the sidewalk.
Adrien tried his best not to shove his face into the roses as he thought of his lady in a certain way. His face had turned red at the thought of the act that they would commit soon. Adrien is still a kind gentleman after all.
Adrien finally found his way to the dormitory and showed his guest pass to the dorm security guard. Sure it's a girls' dormitory hall, but it's still a girls' dormitory hall. Onto the third floor, Adrien went up the elevator and proceeded to find Marinette's dorm.
Since it was still a girls' dormitory, Adrien felt anxious because it felt like he was intruding a large girl's bedroom. He's been to Marinette's dorm several times in the last two years and have met her new friends, but decorated hallways just seemed very...girly, to poor Adrien. All he could hear this time was Marinette yelling frantically into a phone from three doors away.
"Pretty please don't give up on the show! You would look fantastic and I already said you can keep the outfit." Marinette seemed to be stress about another model dropping out of her show. With a grunt, she gave in. "Alright. I understand. I'll...I'll see you later at work." She hung up her phone and threw on the bed. "This is just great, Tikki. Now I'm out of both one male model and one female model for the show." She complained while slumping into her desk chair.
Adrien knew that sign of distress from her. He wanted to listen in further as Tikki gave Marinette words of encouragement as usual, but he was ready to see Marinette.
At the sound of the knock, Tikki hid in her little house that Marinette built in the beginning of college.
"C-Coming!" Marinette yelled before answering the door. Her blue eyes grew wide after swinging the door open. "Adrien!" she smiled.
"Hello there, my lady." Adrien smiled at her. He gently picked up her hand and looked at her in the eyes. "How has my bugaboo been." He said, while placing a soft kiss on top of her hand.
Marinette blushed and giggled. "I've been fine. Just stressing out about a couple things."
"Sounds a lot more than stressing out." Adrien spoke up as he offered the roses to Marinette. "Happy anniversary, Marinette."
"I'm really happy you remembered." She smiled and kissed his cheek before taking the roses. "I didn't forget, if that's what you're wondering."
"No no, I get it." He laughed. He followed her inside and looked around. He notices sketches on the walls, three more manikins in the corner of the wall beside her desk, and a cluttered mess of fabric beside the sewing machine. "Working hard on the fashion show, I see."
"You know about it?" she asked while preparing a vase for the roses.
"Yeah, one of your friends from the café told me about it." He said, sitting down on her bed. "He said that you don't have a model for your show."
"I'm missing two models, Adrien." She sighed. "One of my friends canceled on me just now. The show is in a couple weeks and I don't know anyone interested on filling in for me."
Adrien smirked a bit. "I can stand in for one for you!"
Marinette stopped putting roses into the vase and tried to think what she just heard. "You will what now?"
"I would like to model in your show, Marinette." He said, pushing himself off the bed.
Marinette quickly shook her head and turned to him. "That would be awesome but I don't know if I can let the great Adrien Agreste model for me!" she sighed and put her head on his shoulder. "Even if you're my boyfriend."
Adrien rolled his eyes and patted Marinette's back. "It won't be any trouble for me. All I ask is that you don't make me dress or do anything weird, okay? Would you like to go talk to your professor about it right now?" he smiled for her as he pushed her off of him gently.
Marinette looked uncertain as she reached for his hands. "Are you sure you want to model for me?" she asked.
Adrien laughed a bit and smiled. "Model for the fabulous Marinette Dupain-Cheng?" he grabbed her hands and held them between them. "I would be honored, Mari." He said.
Marinette smiled at the gesture and turned her head away to laugh. "Alright, you can be in my show!" she said. "Don't worry about doing anything weird. But...um...crap, I forgot that there's a couple category and I don't have a female model to pose with you." She started to panic again.
"Why can't you model your own fashion line, Mari?" Adrien asked, watching her pace around the room. "I'm sure it won't cost a whole grade if you model too."
"I know, but that's not the point!" she said. "B-But I can't let one of the two girls model with you b-because..."
"Marinette, slow down." Adrien grabbed her hand, scarring her slightly. "If it's not going to cost you your final grade, you can be my partner in the show." He smiled. "I know you will do great even for one runway show. Yes, you are the designer, but wouldn't it be awesome to let them see the designer in her own show?"
"You're just saying that because I'm the only girl you will pose with." Marinate said. "And you're saying all of that because you're a professional model."
Adrien shook his head and place a hand on his chest as if he was offended. "Professional? My lady, I make a lot of mistakes in photoshoots!" he laughed, then he started counting on his fingers. "I either look cross-eyed, tired, my stomach would suddenly growl, I trip over my feet, or would be paying attention to something beside the camera. I'm far from perfect, Mari. That's where the phrase nobody is perfect came to be." He smiled as if he knew from experience.
Marinette laughed a bit over his silliness. "I'll think about it." She said. "But right now, I really want to leave this dorm for a while." She said.
He settled himself down and hugged her. "Let's get out of here for at least a little while. We have this special day to spend, my lady."
