Moving out to head to college shouldn't be as difficult as it sounds, especially after Marinette saw her new 'room' she would be sleeping in for the next four years. She decided to enroll in a college to major in fashion with a minor in business. She has been praying for an internship with a well-known fashion designer, even though she feels pretty well known already around Paris already. But the worse part of the transition is not knowing if Adrien was coming to the same college. What could he possibly go to college for? He already excel at multiple college courses!
"Here's the last of your things, Mari." Adrien said as he carried the last box and bag of school supplies into the small dorm.
Marinette smiled and helped him set everything down. "Thanks, Adrien."
"Anything else I can do to make this feel like home?" he asked while stretching.
She sighed a bit and looked out the window that looked over the beautiful campus. "I'm far from home. But Paris is still near." She put on a brave smile.
"That's a good way of looking at it." He laughed a bit. "Want to go exploring? I heard there's great cafés with awesome coffee. You might want to familiarize yourself with the campus."
Marinette rolled her eyes while letting out a small giggle. "If you want to. I could use a break from this moving in time."
Adrien smiled and walked to the open door. "After you, my lady." He bowed. She swore she saw him wink at her as she past him.
The campus was large that it could be its own little town and no one but the students and faculty would know where in the world to find it. The college was well known for fashion of the past and present. Mock boutique were in a building that it was its own outlet mall down the road from auditoriums and classrooms and labs. The college offered other courses like sciences, languages, music, art, and technology, but most student came out as fashion experts. Adrien actually suggested the college to Marinette after talking to a photographer during a photoshoot. So after making sure Paris would be okay from akumas for a while, Marinette applied and got a full scholarship funded by several fashion designers—even Gabriel Agreste helped fund the scholarship.
Marinette was in awe about her surroundings. The campus still had a lively Paris feel, but she couldn't stop herself from comparing the real Eiffel Tower to the mock one in middle that was the campus clock tower. The cafés made her feel at home, even though there was still company own cafes, so she was waiting for an original café to pop up so she can visit. Internet café? Coffee café? Bakery café? Something needed to make her want to go inside (This could be because she worked in her parents' bakery when she wasn't in school or saving Paris.)
"What about this one, Marinette?" Adrien called his attention while looking inside of one of the many café windows.
Marinette looked and saw a student playing guitar for a group of students and parents as the customers sat, chatting to each other, sipping on coffee or tea, and chowing down on croissants. "I like this one. It's very lively." She smiled and picked up Adrien's hand. She walked to the door, only to be stopped so her boyfriend could open the door for her again.
Not only the scent was enticing, but the environment was warm and comforting. Marinette could see the musical male was playing the guitar to entertain everyone in the café and the new students, taking requests and cracking jokes when he wasn't playing. Marinette had caught his attention and shyly waved at him, guessing he was a student by the way he dressed. The café had tables and chairs, bars and barstools with school pride accents in the café's warm vanilla brown colors and font, and lounge with chairs and sofas that could possibly fit three people. Towards the back, besides where the general assembly of café workers were, was where more customers were enjoying time on their laptops and tablets. Despite looking small on the outside, there was plenty of room to move and enjoy a peaceful time full of music, coffee, and croissants. If she had the option, she could pick up a part time job here to earn a little bit more money besides living off the money her parents would send her every other week—twice in one week if she's lucky they said if she doesn't skip classes, earning good grades and reports, and staying out of trouble.
Adrien watched his love while waiting in line to order. He didn't want to leave her side yet, so he started piecing together words he would tell her before leaving her side until the holidays. Even with the connections his model-self had, he decided to surrender his modeling scholarship entry to give his lady some space and see her through video chat and after few months at a time. Sure, his father wasn't happy and sat him down to question his son choices, but Adrien came up with a way to make sure he was still on Marinette's mind every day. He already helped her move into her dorm and help set up a few decorations of him and Marinette, but what he had planned maybe sound like he's spoiling her.
"May I help you, sir?" the young woman, probably a student, asked Adrien.
Adrien snapped out his thoughts and looked at the cashier. "Um...Two sweet teas and two croissants, please."
"Are you a new student?" she asked.
"No, I'm not. But my lady over there is." Adrien said as he pulled out his wallet. And swiped his card for the order.
"Name, sir?"
"Agreste." He smiled a charming smile, hoping the woman wouldn't ask for an autograph. He already had an encounter at the student life center and before entering the dorms. Most students were thinking he was making an appearance as a guest for the fashion program.
The woman just smiled and handed him his receipt. "Order, coming up, Mr. Agreste." She said as she turned around to deliver the ticket to her assembly.
Adrien smiled a bit before turning back to Marinette, who was talking to the guitar player. He heard her giggle at whatever joke he made. The giggle that could make the guy swoon over Marinette in an instant. Adrien walked to her side and slipped his arm around her waist. "What's up, Bugaboo?" he smirked.
Marinette blushed and tried to hide her face.
"Ah, isn't it Adrien Agreste in the flesh?" the guitar male smiled as he held out his hand. "I didn't realize this is the girl I've seen in your photos lately."
Adrien shook his hand with his free hand. "Nice to meet you, and yes, my lady is the one you've been seeing lately. Please, no autographs. I don't want to embarrass the princess here."
"No problem. Pretend I wasn't just trying to flirt with her." He laughed a bit before he notices Adrian's glare.
"Don't worry, he wasn't flirting." Marinette said as she leaned on her kitty cat. "He was just telling me what program he's in and why he plays in the café."
"Well, I hope he doesn't get any ideas." Adrien grumbled as he glared at him. He sighed heavily to remove the thought he had that would've ended badly.
"Agreste!" called an employee with the order. That snapped him out of their conversation.
"T-That's our order! Let's go get a table!" Adrien said, pulling on Marinette's arm.
Marinette nodded and waved at the guitar player. "See you around!" she cheered as she walked away with Adrien.
The guitar male laughed and smiled at the couple. "Don't worry, your pretty head. I look after the ladies around here." He looked down and started strumming. "I'm sort of like a big brother who wouldn't dare lay a hand on a girl. Scouts honor, Agreste."
"This spot is perfect, don't you think, Marinette?" Adrien asked as soon as they found a window seat close to the back room.
Marinette nodded and sat down across him. "You seem a bit off, Kitty."
"Just the usual." He said as he put down a plate of croissants and tea in front of them. He noticed that there was a candle light in the middle of the table that an employee was going around lighting up. He made a quick take to look outside and noticed how late it was getting.
"I understand." Marinette started. "But trust me that I won't be making stupid decisions while I'm here."
"I do trust you, princess." He said as he reached for her hand across the table. "I'm not used to being apart from my bugaboo." He smirked.
She laughed and picked up his other hand to hold above the candle. "I'm not used to being apart from my kitty cat, either." She smiled and stared into his eyes lovely.
"I love you, Marinette." He said softly after a few seconds.
"I love you too, Adrien." She replied smiling at him lovingly.
They flirted and chatted and ate croissants together for what seemed like a long time. They complimented the campus for a while and until they noticed how late it was getting outside.
"Are you alright, Adrien?" She asked after Adrien looked down at the table, sadness on his face.
He glanced up at her and sighed. "I don't like the thought of leaving you alone, Marinette." He said. He suddenly heard that the cafe was getting ready to close and it made him remember the gift he wanted to give her.
"Marinette...I know that now is not appropriate time to say this, but I want to give you a gift that symbolize our faithfullness and love for each other."
"A-Adrien..." She whispered through a gasp.
"I-it's not what it is! Yet! It's...um...it's something valuable, but worth the wait until I officially ask for your hand." For some reason, he was holding his breath while digging the box out of his jacket pocket. He didn't move out of his seat, but he gently took his lady's hand and flipped open the box. Mentally counting to three, he held up the gift while looking at her straight in the eyes.
"With this ring, I promise to love you with all my heart even though we are far away from each other at the moment." He said.
Marinette tried to hold back her tears as she watched him put the promise ring on her hand before kissing it gently. "Adrien...this is beautiful." She said softly while admiring the small ruby stone on the band. After admiring the diamonds, she notice the engraving that said. "Don't give up, my ladybug." She giggled at the thought the ring was a custom made ladybug promise ring.
Adrien smiled as he watched her play with the ring. "I wrote that because I know college is going to be hard. I wanted to give you a gift that you can be inspired by." He was caught off guard when she hugged him tightly.
"Thank you, Adrien. I love you so much."
He smiled and softly patted her head. "I love you too, my lady."
After the cafe had closed for the evening, the couple walked back to Marinette's dorm and laid on the twin size bed for a moment.
"I don't want to leave yet." Adrien said as they stared at the cieling while holding hands above the blanket.
"I don't want you to leave either." She let out a sigh.
Adrien smiled a bit and turned his head to Marinette. "There will be more perfect nights that we'll spend together, I promise."
She smiled and listened to the crickets and sounds of the night. She turned and cuddled up to his chest. "Please...stay the night? I'm sure they won't mind if we don't do something loud."
He replied by placing a hand on her head, carefully playing with her pigtails. "Cuddling and falling asleep in each other's arms sound like the perfect plan tonight." He said. In one movement, he reached over to grab a switch on a strand of lights. The room was already dark, but once he clicked the light, white lights on the cieling gently faded in and out. It resembled the nighttime in her room when the city lights would shine through Marinette's room as she slept.
"Thank you for the lights...I love them." She said as she was drifting off to sleep.
"My pleasure." He said as he pulled the comforter up to their necks and held his princess closer as he fell asleep.
"Goodnight, my lady..."
