The doctor asked Sabine and Adrien to leave Marinette's room as soon as the woman went unconscious.

Adrien was in shock while Sabine held his arm as they walked out.

"please...tell me that did not...just happen..." Adrien muttered, still in shock. He heard Emma's crying and that relieved him for a second. "T-Tell me that didn't happen to Marinette?!"

"Calm down," Sabine tried to calm him. When she turned towards Tom and the others, she looked down and tears came to her eyes.

"What happened?" Gabriel asked his son, who had slumped to the floor and held his face in his hands. The man didn't want to look in the room, so he did a favor and closed the door slightly. He kneeled next to his son and patted his head, knowing his son was processing what was happening. "Marinette will be alright. Just a complication."

"S-She was fine...everything was going so well. W-What is happening to her?" the blonde continued to ask in loops.

Nino looked at Alya sadly, knowing Alya would be the calm one to talk.

Alya tried to calm down and stared at the floor. "Well...Mrs. Dupain-Chang and I might know a little something...just from going to her appointments with her. We understand you were busy with work, but Marinette wanted her mother and I because she was so scared." She took a breath to find the words.

"What could happen to a brave and wonderful woman like Mari-"

"It was preeclampsia." Alya interrupted. "She looked sick over the past month, and you noticed how she's on bedrest and everything. Her doctor said she would be alright if she had taken the medication so today will be go smoothly and they wouldn't have to worry about this emergency, but Marinette freaked."

"So...is she going to live? And Emma is okay too, right?" he asked.

Alya nodded. "Yeah, she's healthy, on time, and everything." She smiled slightly. "Marinette will be alright; it'll take some time."

Adrien nodded and took a few deep breaths before standing up. He heard the door open and saw a nurse walk out with the cart. Adrien looked past everyone and swore he saw tiny movements in the cart and heard whining. That...that's Emma, he thought. He knew the nursery was near so he guessed that's where his daughter was going until they can calm down.

Another nurse tapped his shoulder an hour later. "Can we talk in the family room down the hall? There's some refreshments there since it is getting late." She suggested, noticing how tired everyone looked.

Adrien and the others agreed and followed the nurse down the hallway. They entered the family gathering room where it was furnished with tables, a couple couches and chairs, counter with coffee maker and microwave, and a small fridge in the corner. A few plug ins for electronics were installed in the walls for chargers. The walls were painted in sky blue, and the wood of the floor was polished. Adrien knew this was the hospital's way to calm a family with a relative or friend in the hospital.

It was going on 12 am when Nino offered to take Alya home. Alya argued slightly, but her exhaustion got the best of her and agreed to go home with Nino. She wished the family luck and promised to come back with breakfast for everyone in the morning.

Tom held his wife as she slept in his lap, and held up a pleasant conversation with Gabriel as time goes past them.

Adrien had laid down on another couch on the other side of the room, his jacket on top of him like a blanket. His blank expression showed he was tired, but didn't want to go to sleep until he hears and update.

Around 2 am, Adrien woke up to the sound of the nurse's voice from the door. He opened his eyes and saw that the nurse was talking to Tom, Gabriel, and the awoken Sabine. The blonde noticed it was a different nurse who probably came during the shift change.

"Emma seems excited to meet everyone." The nurse giggled. "She's wide awake if anyone wants to visit and hold her. I would like to talk to you about her tests too."

"Emma..." Adrien groaned a bit as he sat up on the couch. He didn't remember passing out while listening to music, but his music playlist must've stopped after an hour. "It's okay to see her?" he asked, rubbing his eyes, his hair a mess.

"You must be the little girl's father." The nurse smiled.

"How's Marinette?" he asked before yawning.

"You will be able to see her in the morning. She was moved to the ICU for observation, but she is stable." She said.

Adrien nodded and fixed his hair. "C-Can we go see my daughter now?" he asked.

The nurse nodded and opened the door for anyone who was coming to greet the baby. She heard the elders talking to Adrien into going to the nursery first and they can see her when they wake up in the morning.

"If that's what you guys want to do." Adrien said, putting his jacket on. "I'll be back shortly."

"Take all the time you need with your daughter." Gabriel smiled slightly.

Adrien nodded and followed the nurse out the of the room. He was aware how dark the hallway was just for two o'clock in the morning in a hospital. Some of the lights had dimmed outside of the overnight patient rooms. A small group of nurses were on their break and chatting over dinner they shared. One or two of them were updating records. Adrien didn't know rather or not be creeped out by this atmosphere.

After a three-minute walk, the blonde man walked past a large window which peeked into the average sized room of the nursery. Lights in the room were dimmed as well for the sleeping babies, but he was thankful that Emma wasn't placed in an emergency room for babies like he worried for the last month. Marinette's sudden unconsciousness scared him into thinking something would have gone wrong for Emma.

During the walk to this room, the nurse told Adrien summed up details of every test they did after checking for her responses after delivery. Adrien nodded, keeping track of the good and bad list in his head. His hands had fidgeted on small threads inside the pockets of his jacket during the walk. He didn't want to be disrespectful and fidget on his phone while discussing tests about his daughter.

He remembered feeling anxious during the walk, but as soon as he saw the nursery through the window, the worry vanished. His hope for a healthy family still hung in his head as if Marinette was simply unconscious after she had given birth instead of a complication.

The nurse looked at Adrien before she nudged him with her clipboard, asking him if he was ready to see her.

Adrien nodded little by little before agreeing to do so. He completed the routine of sanitizing before entering the room, then keeping a level head as the nurse lead him towards Emma's crib.

He wasn't in no hurry to see her, as he was expecting to see Emma with Marinette for the first time but that image disappeared as soon as he was escorted out of her hospital room with Sabine.

He peered into the clear crib, only to see little socked feet moving slightly. He gazed upwards to her tiny hands, which were gloved to keep her warm and her tiny hands from scratching her face. In the dim light, he saw strands of dark hair out of the tiny beanie on Emma's head. He swore he heard her coo, as if she was fighting to stay awake until she was noticed by him or Marinette.

Anxiously, Adrien asked to hold his daughter. The nurse complied and picked up a blanket to pick up Emma. She went through the proper instructions on how to hold a newborn baby, commenting how fragile they are even while holding her.

Emma was passed to Adrien by the nurse, who was almost crying from the unknown attention.

"H-Hey...Hey there, little Emma..." he said softly as he looked to the newborn in his arms. He chuckled at the thought he was possibly smiling like an idiot the whole time he was in the room. "M-My name is Adrien...I-I'm your dad..." he laughed again. This is real life now...I can't believe I'm finally holding her.

Emma cooed a little before moving her hands. She seemed to enjoy the warmth of the blanket that was wrapped around her while she was in her father's arms finally.

Adrien noticed how she was teasing her smile by sticking her tongue out, which made him laugh more. I wish your mother could see you, you're just as playful as her.

As much as he was about to gently pull her beanie off, he noticed the light of the hallway shining on her eyes, to which he looked at right away. Those are my green eyes...

Curious and impatient, he gently pulled her beanie back, to see more strands of dark hair. Blue hair?

Green eyes.

Blue hair.

Emma is beautiful. And she already has that smile.

All the qualities he admires from both himself and in Marinette. Adrien was in love with his beautiful daughter that he could cry once he sees both his daughter and wife together.

Unconsciously, he started rocking the baby carefully, humming a piano tune that he listened to for an hour on his phone. He couldn't stop looking at her little face, and by now swore the nurse had taken a picture for the rest of the family and his friends to see in the morning.

After about an hour, Adrien finished humming and noticed how sound asleep Emma was in his arms. He carefully placed her back in the crib. He held her tiny gloved hand and gently kissed it. "Goodnight, Emma. Everyone else will see you in the morning." He chuckled and carefully let go of her hand. he sighed and wiped the tears off his checks. Why am I emotional suddenly?

He noticed the nurse had left for the nurses' station, so he was left alone to wonder back to the family room.

He thought he knew someone who had passed by the window a few minutes' prior, but didn't expect to see the blonde he thought he recognized.

"Glad to see how happy you are...seems like you were a mess a little while ago."
