Vulcan Enough Part 1

'You're fathers a traitor and your mother is a whore.'

'You don't have a place in this world.'

'You're human not Vulcan.'

'You wouldn't understand it a Vulcan thing, only true Vulcan's understand.'

'Disgrace to this planet and your other one.'

'Human children are like you, they'd only taunt you on what your name sounds like.'

'Just leave Vulcan, you are the one everyone wants to hide when we have visitors from other worlds.'

'Never come back.'

'You were an experiment.'

'No one wanted you.'

'Leave this planet so it can go back to normal.'

'Leave.'

'Human hybrid.'

'Halfbreed.'

Spock walked through StarFleet academy thinking of his past. Taunts from his childhood came into mind; cruel taunts the other children had decided to say to him.

Now here he was, among lots of humans. Many of other species of course, but no Vulcans. Spock was the first Vulcan to enlist in StarFleet and not the Vulcan Science Academy.

"Spock!" Nyota Uhura yelled, jogging to catch up to her boyfriend. Spock broke from his trance and glanced around, watching her slow to a walk.

"Nyota." Spock said, acknowledging her. Vulcan's never truly expressed emotion. Even with the fact that Spock was half human, he had spent most of his life trying to shade that part of him to be Vulcan. The only person he ever let see the human side, even a little, was Nyota. But they were in front of other people, so any emotional response would be illogical and not Vulcan like.

"So where's my guy going at this time?" Nyota asked, linking her arm in his. She rested her head on his shoulder a little bit as they walked. She usually tried to be very human around him, possibly to coax some of it out of him. Spock kept his usual posture, stiff straight back and standing tall.

"I was just going to return some reports and go back to my apartment." Spock said, continuing to walk normally, despite the woman walking by him.

"May I accompany you?" Nyota asked, now walking in front of Spock. He nodded in agreement, quickly glancing through a PADD. The stack of reports was in his messenger bag that was slung over one shoulder.

The taunts of his past refused to leave his mind.

'Never return'

'Deserve anything you get'

'Mutt'

'Disgrace to our world'

'Half breed that deserves death'

'Monster'

'Disappointing'

'Leave you mutt don't you hear me? Leave!'

'Mutt...'

"Spock? Spock?" Nyota asked extremely concerned. Spock had frozen in his tracks, tears brimming at his eyes. He didn't move, he didn't flinch.

"Uh.. Yes yes Nyota?" Spock asked, now flustered. He blinked back the welling tears and continued to walk, regaining his posture. Nyota followed at his heal, desperately wanting to figure out what had troubled her boyfriend.

"Are you okay??" She proclaimed, jogging up the steps at his apartment to keep up. Spock kept his head low as he unlocked the door and went inside.

"Nyota, were you ever bullied severely as a young child?" Spock simply asked, causing scenarios of what could've happened to Spock form in Nyota's head. They weren't good ones.

"No I wasn't." Nyota replied, holding her hand out for Spock to take. Slowly and carefully, he reached out and grasped her hand in his.

"I was and am a mutt Nyota. A halfbreed." Spock told her, firmly holding his ground with that statement. One small statement managed to rip Nyota's heart to pieces as guilt filled her.

"You're neither of those Spock."

"I'm half Vulcan and half human. I have no place in the universe." Spock once again stated, still holding his firm ground. Nyota sighed and shook her head, desperately wanting to change his views best she could.

"You belong Spock. Those are the Vulcan children. Now that they've grown up as you have, they know that what they did was wrong." Nyota tried to reason, but Spock wouldn't budge.

"My father has the same view, I was an experiment."

"What brought this on?"

Nyota stared into his eyes, truly truly wanting to hell but having no way.

"I do not belong." Spock stated before sitting down on the couch. Tears pooled in his eyes again.

"How may I help?" Nyota asked, her voice calm and soft.

"Prove to me the impossible, prove to me I'm Vulcan enough. Prove to me I'm not a mutt. Or a halfbreed."
