Chapter 2

George walked Dasia out to his truck and opened the door for her, getting inside Dasia buckled up as George shut her door then quickly got in the truck on his side. Following his usual routine of buckling up and starting the truck. It was fall and she knew winter would be here quicker than she wanted to admit.

"What brought you here?" Dasia asked wanting to know but also make conversation.

"My wife grew up here, Julia you may have known her. She wanted to move back here and start a family, but she died four years ago." George told Dasia as he began the drive.

"I'm so sorry, I knew of Julia, she seemed nice, can't recall anything bad about her." Dasia said, trying to remember what she could of Julia.

"Thanks, I wouldn't say she had a mean bone in her body, nor an unkind word to say." George smiled as he continued to look forward. "Are you engaged or married?"

"No, I've been focused on my studies, not really much time to do anything else at the moment." Dasia explained as she told him about her school degree and that she wanted to further her degree.

What surprised her was that he was actually listening to her, asking questions to try and learn more about her. Everything from her hobbies and interests to her favorites. Normally this would be something she strayed away from but for some reason, she opened up to George and he really opened up to her.

"Yeah. Meredith has really been trying to get me in the sack these past couple months. She knows she's gonna have to marry Jasper soon, her family is tired of waiting." George said as they pulled up to the drive and he put the truck in park.

"Go figure most popular people in school end up getting married to one another. If that's true then why was Jasper about to get on a bus and head out of town?" Dasia asked.

"He does that once a month, no one really knows why, he must be thinking about leaving it all behind but then back out at the last second." George tries to think of a reason.

A sudden movement from in front of the truck makes them both look forward. George turns on his headlights but they don't see anything. George decides to almost get out of the truck when Dasia puts her hand on his shoulder stopping him.

"Have you not seen enough horror movies to know that is a bad idea?" she asked and he couldn't help but laugh.

"You're right but we can't sleep in the truck." he points out.

Turning to look at her, he finds himself lost in her eyes. Her gorgeous emerald eyes. His gaze is returned by her own, his dark brown eyes seem to wrap her full attention around them. Unsure how but they could both feel their faces getting closer and closer to one another and just as their lips were about to meet, a loud tap on George's window made them both jump and look to the window.

There was Meredith with her arms crossed over her chest, clearly she was not in the best mood.

"What did I tell you about other women, George?" Meredith demands an answer.

Dasia raised an eyebrow confused, why was Meredith acting like she owned George? Shaking his head, George rolled down his window, barely an inch, smart move on his part.

"Meredith I've told you, there is nothing between you and I. You are about to be married and I don't have those kinds of feelings for you." George explains with an exasperated sigh.

"Oh but you can like girls like her? Liars and just freaks?" Meredith says looking right at Dasia.

She had been wanting to shove something in Meredit's face for years, she had a chance to do so right now and she hoped George would understand. Dasia gently placed both her hands on George's face and looked him dead in the eyes, almost as if asking him if this was ok. He nodded to her and she pulled him right to her and kissed him deeply and passionately right there before Meredith. They could both hear her yelling and screaming at them to stop, but neither of them were willing to do so. Instead, it began to progress further than kissing.

"You really want that slut to have your babies?!" Meredith cried out to George.

That did not get the desired result Meredith wanted. She had figured with her saying that George would have pushed Dasia away, instead he laid her down on the seat of the truck. Shocked, she quickly began walking away. However George didn't stop and neither did Dasia. It was like another side of her took over a side wanting a man she had just met and George was not denying her anything.

Afterwards, George laid atop Dasia, barely covered with his plaid shirt, as she ran her fingers through his hair. He hadn't felt a feeling like that before in his life. It was like pure ecstasy. Part of her wondered if she should feel bad sleeping with a man she had just met, but the side that found it wonderful, freeing and should be repeated had won her over.

"Wow, that will definitely be the talk of the town tomorrow." Dasia said as she continued to play with George's hair.

"I've never slept with a woman I just met, I just couldn't stop, that kiss just brought out so much heat, so much passion. I don't give a damn who says what about it." George said, looking up at Dasia. "I enjoyed it too much to give a shit what others have to say."

After getting dressed, George and Dasia went into her grandmother's cabin. It looked like her grandmother had just gone out for a quick second. There wasn't any dust and the house was just as clean as Dasia remembered it. All the memories she had in the house were good ones, her grandmother made sure of that. Opening the door to her childhood home, she laughed looking at the old posters on the wall and the old bedding she had begged her grandmother for.

"Old memories huh?" George asked as he leaned against the doorway.

"Oh yeah, all the memories I have here though are good, only outside of this house were they bad." Dasia said as she sat down on her old bed.

"And the driveway." George joked.

"That too, good memory has now replaced the bad ones of the driveway." Dasia smiled. "I hate to think of selling, but as you can tell, I'm not exactly welcomed back here."

George came over and sat on the bed next to Dasia. He gently took her hand in his, directing her attention to him.

"Who cares what Meredith says, she's just spoiled and trust me the minute she gets married all it will do is cause a big headache for both families." George says as he takes his left hand and places it on Dasia's cheek. "Don't let her scare you away."

"I'll think about it, as you can tell, there is a lot here to sort through." Dasia said, looking around.

"You've got time, I own the hardware store now, let me know if anything needs fixing or replacing. Not to mention I am your neighbor." he said pointing out the window to his cabin which wasn't too far away.

"So what? Can I come to your place if I get scared?" Dasia joked about not expecting him to be serious.

"Absolutely. I have a german shepherd who would guard us both, her name is Molly. Wanna meet her?" George asked, practically pulling Dasia up off the bed.

George got Dasia over to his cabin and opened the door to see Molly sitting at the door waiting for her master. Looking past him, Molly saw Dasia looking right at her. Molly jumped up and put her paws on Dasia as if welcoming her home. She could sense something familiar in Dasia, maybe because she had known Dasia's grandmother? Molly didn't know, all she knew was she sensed Dasia to be a good person.

"I think she likes you." George smiled.

"Well I like her too, hello Molly, I'm Dasia. I hope to be good friends with you while I'm here." Dasia grinned as she gave Molly a good pet.

Over the next few days, Dasia was busying herself by going through old family things. She had started in the attic, figuring that was where her grandmother kept most of the old family stuff. Needless to say as she looked around the attic, there wasn't much left, ten boxes all together. Maybe her grandmother just didn't keep stuff she didn't need around? Instead, she kept what she thought might be useful in the future and got rid of the rest? That was something her grandmother always did, she kept things just in case but it just turned out to be random rubbish after a while. Still it made her feel like she was connected to her grandmother somehow even now.
