[Chapter 71]: We are here

"DON'T TOUCH HER! DON'T FUCKING TOUCH HER, I SWEAR I'LL KILL YOU ALL!"

Katsuki was livid as you were re-handcuffed and held by two police. They grasped your shoulders, grip firm and aggressive. You didn't resist, you didn't fight back. Any remaining strength had been drained from your body as the jury shot their last words through you like a bullet.

Guilty.

The tinge of such a word seethed through your mind like venom.

"LET GO OF ME DAMMIT!" Three security guards held Katsuki back as he thrashed in their grip. "(Y/N) DON'T FUCKING MOVE. YOU HEAR ME?! YOU'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE WITH THESE BASTARDS!"

His raging became nothing but background noise. Your head was too heavy. Katsuki's voice was muffled and shrouded, his words unregistered.

What am I gonna do...

They pulled you up out of your seat and dragged you towards the door like a lifeless doll.

I don't want to go back...

"RESIST (Y/N). FUCKING LISTEN TO ME! DON'T GIVE UP! I DIDN'T FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU SO YOU COULD JUST GIVE UP!"

Katsuki... I can hear him.

You clenched your teeth together and stopped dead in your tracks.

If I bend here-

"Overruled."

The whole courtroom froze as Judge Saito spoke up. Mr. Furukawa growled silently to himself.

"Excuse me sir, you can't just..."

"I can and I just did. I am overruling the guilty verdict due to insufficient evidence." Judge Saito shut him down. He averted his gaze towards the jury. "Citizens of the jury, I urge you to reevaluate the evidence. No matter what happened in her past, Miss (y/n) has already suffered for it enough. That is not why we are here today. I ask you to look past your fear. There is so much more to who she is."

The jurors looked at each other for a moment and back at you. You stood there shocked, still held by the guards.

"Sorry we're late."

A voice called over from the main courtroom doors, a voice that you instantly recognized.

Aizawa?

Everyone's gaze shot over. Aizawa pushed the door open, the entirety of Class 1-A behind him. Out in front, Izuku, Ochaco, and Shouto stood. Thirteen, Nezu, Midnight, and All Might were there as well.

More whispers echoed around the room. So many famous pro heroes were there for you. But that wasn't it. From the other door Kanna, the woman you saved in Hosu, emerged with an entire group of people behind her.

"Sorry (y/n) dear, it took us awhile to gather everyone."

You couldn't even speak you were so overwhelmed. Slowly you began to recognize the people of the group one by one. Mitsuki and Masaru of course were with her. All the citizens you had saved in the Molten incident were there. Heck, even your boss was there.

"Aizawa, Kanna, Everyone..." Tears welled up in your eyes. "You're all here..."

Katsuki was calmed once more, no longer thrashing against the security guards. He was just as confused as you were, but he didn't care. Right now he was so thankful that even Izuku was there. Judge Saito smiled.

"Please escort Miss (y/n) back to her seat. This court is back in session. Witnesses, please line up to give your testimonies."

You were lead back to your seat, sending teary-eyed smiles back towards your friends and teachers.

You're all here.

- - -

"So you're saying she missed you on purpose?" The juror questioned.

"Yes, absolutely and without a doubt. (Y/n) wouldn't hurt the people she cares about." Shouto reassured.

- - -

"(Y/n) has a strong sense of justice." Izuku smiled, clenching his fist over his heart. "She stands up for others! She fights for them, even when she doesn't gain anything!"

- - -

"She always talks about the gratitude she feels towards her peers and teachers." Ochaco smiled gently. "I really admire that about her!"

- - -

"Honestly I think my company is half as effective without (y/n) there." Your boss chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. "She's never late. She always works so hard! Even when we're running behind, she smiles and stays late even when she's a busy student!"

- - -

"If Miss (y/n) hadn't been there that day that Molten appeared... I... Me and my son would have died in that fire." The women sniffled, holding her baby against her chest.

- - -

"I remember it night in Hosu clearly." The stranger said. "She emerged from the alley when my leg was trapped under some rubble and saved me, even when the man she was with told her not to."

- - -

"Ah yes! (y/n) has exceptional resilience and vigor I assure you!" All Might laughed. "She's always pushed herself and worked hard to improve! I remember once during a battle exercise when she passed out she worked so hard!"

- - -

"In all my years I've never met somebody with so much compassion." Kanna smiled, peering over at you. "Even when she was scared for her own life, even when the rubble was crushing her, she protected and reassured me. Somebody so young... If you idiots were smart, you'd make her a pro now."

- - -

"Honestly speaking, I don't like a lot of people." Aizawa mumbled into the mic. "But I have to admit, (y/n) has already begun to grasp what it means to be a hero." He looked up and over to you, his lips curling up ever so slightly. "I'm proud to call her my student."

The numerous testimonies came to an end.

The court gathered together once more as you stood before the jury and awaited judgment. They chattered for a while, exchanging nods and taking down notes before wrapping up and turning towards you. One of the women stepped forward to speak.

You gulped in anticipation, nervous, worried about your fate.

"Miss (y/n), while we still find you guilty of destruction of federal property, we have decided to review your other charge." She smiled at you gently. "Therefore we, the jury, find you innocent of aiding in a criminal organization."

Your jaw dropped open slightly as your eyes widened. Judge Saito's mallet sounded. You looked back over at him.

"Sustained." He smiled. "Miss (y/n), for your crimes I am sentencing you to one year of community service to pay for the damage you caused in Hosu. I am also requiring that you stay under close watch."

Close watch... Does he mean...

Your eyes shot over to Mr. Furukawa who looked absolutely furious.

"Under that watch of Shouta Aizawa of course. Which means you must continue to attend UA."

Your heart felt elated and light by his words. It was absolutely overwhelming.

I...

Once again tears returned to your eyes.

I'm free...

"Bakugou?! Are you crying?!" Kirishima called out from the back of the room.

"FUCK YOU SHITTY HAIR, I'M NOT FUCKING CRYING. MY EYES ARE JUST SWEATING. DIE." Katsuki growled with his arm against his face.

The guard reached down and uncuffed your wrists. Not a moment later you turned and took off down the central aisle of the courtroom, tears streaming down your cheeks.

Ochaco, Izuku, and Shouta were the first ones to reach you, their arms splayed open as they caught you in a tight embrace. You sobbed against them, so thankful for their presence. The other students, teachers, and people you knew gathered around also, taking turns in exchanging hugs and words of reassurance. To you, it all meant the same thing.

"We are here."
