15: Loving him was Blue and Black

"Dude you should've seen Jimin at his game! HE WAS DEVOURING THE SHIT OUT OF IT!"

Here we go again.

A fierce cringe forces Jungkook's face to the volume of Yoongi's voice, fixating his gaze into a glare.

No, not because of Yoongi's words about Jimin, by this point he's used to his best friend's reaction to Jimin and any bare minimum energy he does.

It's because Yoongi had the urge to say that right in front of Taehyung, who's doing a fishtail braid on Jungkook's long hair as they speak.

After Jungkook had dinner with Jimin, both him and Yoongi wanted to hang out and celebrate his win today. So when he dropped Jimin off home, he went to his apartment to get ready and came over to Yoongi's place.

It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, they just took a few drinks and talked most of the time with music in the background - something not too crazy.

Now with this conversation, it's not like Taehyung doesn't know about Yoongi's obsession with Jimin, after all, the three are friends, but Yoongi has the tendency to sometimes talk way too much.

Way too fucking much.

"Careful with your words," Taehyung chirps calmly, eyes focused on Jungkook's hair, "He's dating Jungkook now."

"Just for a semester though," Yoongi huffs, sitting on the other chair in the living room, gazing to how Jungkook is sitting on the floor between Taehyung's legs - who's sitting on the couch, letting him do his hair, and he grins at Taehyung, "You used to date Jimin right?"

Taehyung eye twitched, slightly, but he continued calmly, "Junior year of high school, yes."

"How was it? Did you actually like him?"

"Yeah, I did."

"He's the sweetest isn't he?" Yoongi boasts, sighing happily, "He's so dreamy-"

"I chose black."

Yoongi snaps his gaze to him, even Jungkook's ears perked as Taehyung said this.

Black....

Jimin was the shade black.

What was black again-

"Black?" Yoongi questions, confused, "Why did you choose black? The bad boy? Blue is such a keeper! I honestly believe that's the real him."

Taehyung brushes the end of Jungkook's hair, pausing momentarily to stare at the braid with a tight thin line on his lips.

Deep into thought.

And his gaze fogged.

Heavily fogged.

"You believe that, don't you?" He whispers lowly, "Then you haven't seen black, but that's just Jimin right? Knowing how to portray his colors so deeply to the point you believe it's the real him....... Just before he breaks your heart when he leaves, while you're left with the stains where the colors once used to be."

Jungkook's heart is beating so hard now, shifting in discomfort to the conversation with his attention on the ground.

A strong discomfort actually.

It doesn't sit well hearing this after just coming from having dinner with the said Jimin - which was actually a decent time. There was not an awkward moment - especially after their locker room exchange- throughout the entire time they spent together, to which they ended up going to a random McDonalds, ordering five burgers each and just talking about the game - it was a nice time.

Not once was Jimin being provocative or suggesting any lewd gestures, instead he kept his distance to give each other space - while of course occasionally giving Jungkook affection with either tender touches on the hand or gifting him with his soft smile whenever Jungkook spoke with such enthusiasm about his game.

That's the thing with Jimin though, well, while he's blue, he's so..... Considerate.

He's so lovable, it's just hard not to like him or gravitate towards him.

He holds such a welcoming energy about him that quickly can make anyone feel as though they're melting right into his arms, without even hugging him.

He's patient and speaks gently, softer even, like a caress of a hand gliding against tender silk.

Gentle, yet so passionate in affection.

As if it fuels him, makes him glow more, especially his smile.

For a moment Jungkook even began to realize what Yoongi and Taehyung said is true; Jimin knows how to manipulate his colors to make it believable.

He sincerely looks and behaves as though he's really that color, his real color.

It's just hard to imagine him act any different than how he is now.

Which is why Jungkook is curious to see the other colors.

Wondering how he'll behave differently with each one.

"I think you're in denial," Yoongi scoffs, snapping Jungkook's attention, "You just don't know him, but I do. Trust me, blue is his color, his true color. You're just salty because he's dating Jungkook now."

"Yes I am."

Every since cell in Jungkook's body reached his cheeks, blaring now with heat crawling up his neck.

What did he just say?

"Jungkook is a good person, Jimin isn't," Taehyung says quietly, patting the braid on Jungkook's hair, twitching a soft smile, "Sorry, I know he's your boyfriend now, but I'm just worried for you that's all."

"Trust me, you don't have to worry about him," Yoongi snickers smugly, closing his eyes as he lays his head back, "All I know is that by the end of the semester, Jimin will be reunited with me."

Jungkook's eye twitched, along with his frown, unable to help himself from looking at Yoongi, "You really need to calm it down about that. I can't guarantee you anything, especially since Jimin is keen on not returning back to his exes as a rule."

"That's why you're in the picture," Yoongi ventures, stating the obvious, "To literally help me out."

Right.....

Right, that was the plan.

To have Jungkook convince Jimin to be with Yoongi, while also breaking his heart, ruin his game for good.

Did he forget for a second?

It literally slipped his mind.

"Wait, wait back up," The two boys tensed up the second they realized Taehyung was still there, now looking perplexed, "So this is why you're dating Jimin? To help him date Yoongi?"

Shit.

Okay, it's not like Jungkook doesn't trust him, he does, but this plan is strictly between Jungkook and Yoongi.

Especially since Yoongi has his own utopia dream of the four of them being in their own relationship and the double dates, whatever shit like that.

And good thing Yoongi thinks the same way.

"Well no, Jungkook actually wanted to do it," Yoongi dismisses off casually, "I'm just being dramatic because I'm still into Jimin."

Life saver.

Definitely a life saver.

Taehyung glances between Jungkook and Yoongi, right before he leans back to the couch, now staring at Jungkook, "This all makes a lot more sense now."

Shit, he didn't buy it.

Jungkook turns to Taehyung, snorting, "What does? Hard to believe I'm actually interested in Jimin?"

"But you're not."

"And why do you think that?"

"Because," Taehyung then narrows his eyes, hands now to his lap, "You would've shattered Yoongi's teeth by now for talking that way about someone you truly care about."

He's..... Not wrong.

Jungkook can see the memories Taehyung is playing in his head; the many times Jungkook would get ticked off for the slightest comment anyone would make about Taehyung in a disrespectful way, not hesitating to shut them out harshly or go instantly with a fist across their face.

He would never, ever, let anyone trash or lewdly talk about someone he's in a relationship with.

Ever.

Taehyung knows that, noticing now how Jungkook doesn't ever truly react in that strongly defensive way to his supposed boyfriend.

Especially towards Yoongi, who's literally here confessing his obsession on a constant basis.

It's all starting to make sense for Taehyung.

Jungkook chews the inside of his mouth, thinking very deeply about something before managing to say, "Well, I matured up," He retorts back, "I can't beat up the whole world now, right? I know my relationship with Jimin, and nothing what anyone can say will change that. Besides, he also knows how to defend himself pretty well too, so I'm not concerned about him."

Now this made Taehyung frown, deeply, no doubt making any possible second guessing that was once in his head fade away.

Just by Jungkook subtly shattering the image of their own previous relationship.

He believes him now.

After all, made it seem as though Jungkook really was into a mature relationship with Jimin.

And that he grew up from what he used to have with Taehyung.

Even though that's far from the truth.

"That's so sweet," Yoongi remarks, his smile still lazily on his lips, "Doesn't stop me from trying to get at him when the semester ends."

Jungkook has had enough of this conversation about Jimin.

He hates it.

Sure he doesn't like Jimin, they could have their moments and Jungkook won't magically grow feelings just by it, but he still doesn't like having him being the center of a conversation between his friends.

Especially since he still has a lot to learn about him.

While the two remaining days as blue.

And Sunday-

"Anyways, I was thinking," Taehyung suddenly changed the topic, lighter now to keep the atmosphere calm, "It's been a while since we all hanged out, Sunday is going to be a good day, why not go to the beach or maybe for a drive around?"

Yoongi's face lights up, "That actually sounds like fun-"

"I can't."

Both gazes snaps to Jungkook, who actually got to his feet, "This weekend I'm booked. Made plans already."

Yoongi's face lights up, "Is it with Jimin?"

Jungkook glances at his friend, feeling a nerve in his body twitch with his frown deepening like the subtle glare in his eyes, "With some other friends from the team, but sure, he's involved too."

Yoongi is a squealing mess now, but Jungkook only walks away to the kitchen to let himself take a breather - without noticing Taehyung's heavy gaze as he follows him with his eyes.

Jungkook just needs a moment to step away from this.

Their perspective on Jimin, how he was as a partner.

All that shit.

He just can't handle it right now.

Now in the kitchen, Jungkook leans back against the counter and takes out his phone, noticing he had a message notification.

From Jimin.

Immediately Jungkook opens it, only to be left snorting under his breath with a lazy smile.

Jimin sent him a picture of a small cupcake that has a football little decoration on it, with green frosting and subtly chocolate crumbs on it to represent the turf.

Followed by the message after the picture.

'Congratulations on your win again today lovely! Found this cupcake at the bakery shop down my street, so I had to save it for you for tomorrow when we hang out with the girls. Have a Goodnight, and can't wait to see you tomorrow!'

And Jungkook smiled.

And he stayed smiling, perhaps for the rest of the night.

A/N:
So, I was thinking.

Initially I was just going to jump to Sunday, and have like brief memories be mentioned on what happened that weekend, but I feel like you guys would appreciate those details a lot more, just to see Jimin's color blue.

However I'm just thinking about the other colors too, and the story being elongated a bit, but hmm..... I mean I've written pretty long stories before right?

What do you guys think? Would you prefer me writing those details or just skipping to Sunday and letting it be mentioned?

It's up to you, please don't let it be up to me to decide!

Actually let's make a vote:
