Chapter 7: Trapped in Riches; Rebellious Escape
(Weiss's POV)
I stood there on the stage, as I sung my song that I've practiced for a few weeks...
Me: ♫♫♫I'm not your pet, not another thing you own... I was not born guilty of your crimes. Your riches and your influence can hold me anymore, I won't be possessed, burden by a royal test! I will not surrender, This Life is Mine!♫♫♫
The audience began applauding for me but I still didn't feel happy... I looked to my right to see Kuraime and Lucy clapping for me; at least that made me somewhat happy. But when I looked up to my left, I saw my father and Whitley... I sighed mentally and walked off the stage...
........................
Right now I was in my house, where the party was being kept and I was basically forced to stand next to my father while he talked with some guests, sounding as... smug as ever... I hated it... I looked behind me to see a large painting of Beacon... I felt the memories flow into my mind so I decided to go over, if not for my father grabbing my arm?
Father: Where are you going?
Me: I'm... just a little thirsty.
Father: Sweetheart, we have people for that.
Me: What? No, I can get it. I'll be right back, I promise.
He stared at me before hesitantly letting me go. I went over to the painting and just looked at it... I began remember the people lost during the Fall of Beacon... Penny... Pyrrha... and the heavily injured... Yang... Dairoku... I hope their alright... I wonder how Celeste is doing... A tear slid down my face, remembering them all... and their smiles... their hugs... their voices... Why... why did this have to happen...?
???: It's beautiful... You two match.
I looked over to see a tanned young man with dark blue hair... I kinda just stared at him annoyingly before crossing my arms and looking back at the painting.
Me: Yes, it's a lovely painting.
Annoyance: So, that was my attempt at breaking the ice. How am I doing so far?
Me: *sigh* You are leaving a lot to be desired.
Annoyance: Well, I've always appreciated the honesty. Henry Marigold.
He offered his hand to me and I reluctantly took it.
Me: Weiss Schnee.
Henry: I know, I saw your performance, obviously. You were wonderful, and I promise I'm not just saying that cause' you're pretty.
I rolled my eyes and looked back at the painting.
Henry: Honesty, remember? So, you thinking about buying it?
Me: No. I don't this so.
Henry: Yeah, kinda pricey for a painting.
I started to get annoyed.
Me: It's to raise money.
Henry: Oh really? For what?
Me: For what?
Henry: Hehe, I'll admit, I only come to these things for the food and drinks.
He took a drink from a passing by waiter.
Henry: And the extraordinary company, of course. So what, is it another Mantle fundraiser or something?
Me: Get. Out.
Henry: What?
Me: Get out, or I will have security escort you out.
Henry: But I haven't done any-
Me: Leave!
He stared at me shocked.
Henry: Pfft, whatever.
As soon as he left, I went back to looking at the painting, closing my eyes to remember everything that happened on that night... all the injured people... all the deaths... Dairoku... He was one of the only people who understood me and helped me become a better person... seeing him in that state, hurt me... but what hurt me even more was Celeste's breakdown... my own girlfriend... crying her soul out for her brother's life... I hope they're both okay...
???: But really, does it come as any surprise, what happened to Vale?
I turned to see a Rich obnoxious woman talking...
Woman: It was a long time coming if you ask me.
Man: Honey...
Woman: What? You said the same thing last night. If they're so arrogant to think they can get by without proper Kingdom defense, then I say good riddance.
To say I couldn't believe it was an understatement. All the things people lost on that night... I lost Penny... Pyrrha... and I almost lost Dairoku... and this arrogant waste of space is saying that it was a good thing!? I was losing my temper really quick... I began seeing flashes of Beacon on that night... then four special ones... all of them smiling brightly at me... Penny... Pyrrha... Dairoku... Celeste...
Me: SHUT UP!
Everyone went quiet and looked at me.
Father: Weiss...
Me: You DON'T have a clue! NONE of you do!
Woman: Excuse me!?
Me: You're all just standing around talking about NOTHING! Worrying about your hair, your money... your stupid problems that DON'T mean anything!
My father walked over to me and grabbed my arm.
Father: Weiss, that's enough!
Me: Let go of me!
Father: You're embarrassing the family!
Me: I said LET GO!
I pulled my hand away from him, only for me to fall over and unconsciously summon a strange looking Glyph... When I looked behind me, I saw that I summoned a Boarbatusk... the same one I killed on my first day at Beacon... It roared before it charged the woman.
Woman: AHHH!!! PLEASE, I'M SORRY, I'M SORRY! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!
It jumped in the air at her but suddenly, it was sliced in half and disappeared...
???: It's nice seeing you evolve more Weiss.
That voice...! I turned to see... Kuraime, holding her scythe...
Me: Kuraime!
She smiled at me and walked over to me.
Woman: Oh thank you so much! Arrest-
Kuraime: Oh don't thank me...
Woman: What...?
Kuraime snapped back to the woman and pointed the barrel of her scythe at the woman's head, before glaring daggers at her.
Kuraime: You speak of Vale, of Beacon, like they're beneath you. You weren't there when the Fall of Beacon happened but I can guarantee that if SOMEONE you cared for was there, you'd keep your mouth shut about it or grieve for them, rather than talking straight out of that arrogant asshole of yours. So either you keep quiet, or I'll give you a MUCH worse fate than being rammed into the wall by a Boarbatusk.
She cocked her scythe, showing that she was not bluffing. I could even see a thing dark aura around her, giving of a very vengeful vibe.
???: That's enough Kuraime, she got your point.
We looked to see Lucy, Raiku and General Ironwood approaching us. Kuraime sighed and holstered her scythe before holding a hand out to me and smiling. I didn't even take it as I lunged into her and hugged her tightly.
Me: I missed you so much!
She was slightly shocked but hugged me back.
Kuraime: I missed you too Weiss.
Woman: Arrest them!
We broke the hug and looked back towards the woman; she was talking to Lucy and General Ironwood.
Woman: What are you waiting for!? They're insane! They should be locked up!
Raiku scoffed.
Raiku: Looks who's talking... Saying the death of two girls, one of which is FROM Atlas, a legend's prodigy getting severely wounded and an Academy being brought to ruins was a good thing, then saying that their insane for speaking the truth? Wow... Arrogance on a whole other level. If it were up to me, you'd be the one being locked up.
I noticed that Raiku seemed... different...
Ironwood: She's right. Besides, they're the only ones making sense around here.
Lucy: And Kuraime was right. You weren't there, none of your loved ones were there, so you have no right to speak.
Ironwood: Thanks for the party Jacques.
Lucy: Raiku, Kuraime, let's go.
Kuraime looked at Lucy before looking at my father, glaring daggers at him and then at looked at me with a smile.
Kuraime: I gotta go. If, you know who, hurts you, I'll break his legs.
I slightly giggled at her before pulling her into another embrace which she returned.
Me: I know you will. Thanks and I'll see you soon too.
Kuraime: Yeah.
The broke the hug before Kuraime walked off with Raiku, Lucy and General Ironwood, the former waving at me which I returned. I then hesitantly looked at my Father, only to see him absolutely furious...
"THIS LIFE IS MINE!"
CHAPTER 7: TRAPPED WITHIN RICHES; REBELLIOUS ESCAPE
(Weiss' POV)
After the party, I was sent to my room with my father in toe. Currently, he was pacing in front of me as I sat on my bed.
Father: Unbelievable! Absolutely unbelievable! Do you have any idea what your stunt cost up?
Me: I-
Father: And don't think I'm just talking about Lien here! Our reputation! Our... Our...!
He sighed heavily and held his head. I remembered what Winter and Dairoku said to me... and I remembered Celeste...
Me: I want to leave.
Father: I beg your pardon?
Me: I said I want to leave. I don't want to say here anymore! I don't want to stay in Atlas anymore!
Father: Young lady, I don't give a dam about what you want! This isn't about you, this is about the Schnee family name and your apparent insistence on dragging it through the mud!
I stood up.
Me: I have done nothing but fight to uphold the honor of my family name, a name YOU married into!
He suddenly slapped me hard across my face, shocking me...
Father: This behavior of yours is incredibly disappointing... You couldn't possibly understand the lengths I've gone to in order to keep this family where it is. You think running off like your sister is going to make the Schnee name stronger? You're wrong. Siding with her only divides us.
Me: I'm not siding with anyone. I'm doing what I feel is right, and that does not include wasting my time up here... with these clueless people in Atlas. The Schnee family legacy isn't yours to lead; it's mine. And I'll do it as a Huntress.
Father: No... you won't. You're not leaving Atlas. You're not to leave the manor grounds unless I specifically allow it. You are going to remain here, out of sight and out of trouble, until you and I come to an agreement on your future.
Me: What!?
Father: Your presupposition that you can simply have whatever it is you want is a clear sign of our future as parents. But from now on, I'll be giving you the full attention you require, starting by keeping you where I can see you.
Me: You can't just keep me from leaving!
Father: I can, and the staff here will make sure of it.
Me: So now I'm just your prisoner!?
Father: You are my daughter. You're a child and children are grounded when they misbehave.
Me: This is only going to make things worse Father. People will ask questions! They'll want to know why the heiress to the Schnee Dust Company is suddenly nowhere to be found!
He began walking towards the door before stopping and looking at me.
Father: Which is why you are no longer heiress to the Schnee Dust Company.
I slightly stepped back, shocked at his words.
Me; Excuse me?
Father: Clearly the trauma you endured at the Fall of Beacon was too much for you. Which is why you've 'generously' revoked your claim to the company and its earnings and passed it on to your brother, Whitley.
I... I couldn't say anything anymore...
Father: It's time to wake up and face reality.
He turned to leave but as he did, I spotted Whitley, smiling smugly at me before turning to leave. I stomped up to him and stopped him.
Me: Whitley!?
He turned around and looked at me, still smiling.
Whitley: Yes sister?
Me: Did you know about this?
Whitley: About what?
Me: You never liked Winter. You never liked me. But you've been nothing but supportive since the moment I came back.
Whitley: If being kind to my sister is some sort of crime, then I suppose I'm guilty.
My eyes widen.
Me: You wanted this to happen.
Whitley: It's foolish not to do as Father asks.
Me: I can't believe you...
Whitley: Don't worry Weiss, the Schnee family name is in good hands.
He turned to walk away as I stared at him in disbelief before I ran back to my room and shut the door before falling onto my bed and breaking down in sobs... My sobs continued for a few seconds until I remembered something...
(Flashback)
Dairoku: You're Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company... Our Ice Queen... My graceful little Snowflake... You won't let anyone control you. You sure as hell didn't when Roselyn first became your leader.
(End of Flashback)
Then I remembered Celeste... her graceful nature... her sweet and innocent smile... she had off her mask, revealing the scar she got from my father... I quietly giggled before wiping my tears.
Me: Idiots...
I got up and began rearranging my room; basically pushing everything out of the way until I went over to a silver case. When I opened it, there she was... Myrtenaster... Then I looked over to the corner and saw a picture of my team, Team JNPR and Celeste's team... then there was another one, but it only had me and Celeste and she was holding the stuffed lion I got her for her birthday... I then grabbed the hilt of Myrtenaster before holding it up with a confident smirk.
My thoughts: I'm going to find you again Celeste!
.................................
A few weeks had pasted and I was currently in my room. I haven't left my house at all but I'm actually grateful to Father that he grounded me because it gives me time to practice my summoning and plan my escape. Currently, I was kneeling as I stabbed Myrtenaster into the floor, creating the same Glyph that had four swords around it. I felt something was about to happen, but then...
Whitley: Hello sister.
Great... I sighed and looked to see my 'dearest' baby brother...
Me: Leave.
Whitley: How hurtful. And here I am, about to offer you a favor. Father's taking me into town to introduce me into some of his business partners. I'd thought I'd see if you wanted me to pick up anything, since you're... well, stuck here.
Me: Are you jealous? Is that it?
Whitley: What ever do you mean?
Me: Is that why you hate me? Are you jealous of my abilities? Of Winters?
Whitley: Hmm... No, not really. Honestly, I find it barbaric. It's beneath people like me, like Father. What can a single Huntsman possibly do then that an army could not? That's why we have one, even if its run by a fool.
Me: I said, leave.
Whitley: Fine, fine. I've got better things to do. Enjoy your... 'training', however pointless it is. What is your plan anyway? What do you hope to accomplish while trapped in your own bedroom?
I had enough and used one of my Gravity Glyphs to shut the door in his face. I sighed before I began focusing again. I stabbed the ground with Myrtenaster, causing the glyph to appear again and the ground to shake. Afterwards, my window broke and Klein soon after ran into my room.
Klein: Ms. Schnee! Are you alright!
He looked shocked before I smiled at him and then back at it... My very own Summon... kneeling before me in loyalty... The Arma Gigas...
???: Well, that certainly is new.
I looked towards the door and coming from behind Klein was Kuraime, smiling.
Me: Kuraime? What are you...
Kuraime: I wanted to check up on you so Klein here helped me sneak my way into this... labyrinth of a place... But, it seems like you're doing just fine.
She looked at my Arma Gigas.
Kuraime: So, you're ready?
I smiled at her.
Me: Yes I am. *turns to Klein* Klein, I need a favor.
...........................
A few days after and it was time for Kuraime and I to put our plan into action. I grabbed my suitcase and opened my door, checking for anyone. Since the coast was clear, I grabbed Myrtenaster and walked out but as I closed the door, I saw Klein but he shushed me.
Klein: Let's go.
He lead the way as I followed through the halls. Suddenly, Klein got a call from Whitley.
Klein: Head to the first floor library. I'll meet you there.
I nodded and broke away from Klein. As I continued my way, I was nearing my father's office but I saw Lucy standing outside it. She turned and saw me causing me to panic a little but she put her finger up to her mouth, telling me to be quiet before smirking and putting her hand on the door knob, keeping it shut.
Lucy: Quickly. Kuraime's waiting for you.
Me: Thank you.
She smiled at me.
Lucy: No problem.
I nodded and continued my way until I reached the first floor library but Klein was nowhere to be found.
Me: Klein! Klein where are you!?
Suddenly, a bookshelf opened up and Klein came out.
Klein: Keep your voice down, I told you I'd be here.
I immediately ran up to him and hugged him.
Klein: Are you sure Mistral's safe?
Me: No, but it's where I'll find Winter.
Klein: I suppose she'll be the only family you have left after tonight.
Me: I'll always have you.
Klein: You most certainly will.
Suddenly...
Father: Klein!? Klein! Get down here this instant!
Klein: You're friend Kuraime is waiting for you. Go now.
Me: Thank you Klein.
He nodded before closing the passage way behind me. I made my way through it, towards a hanger that had a Dust cargo ship and I saw Kuraime standing outside of it.
Kuraime: Hey there! You ready to get out of here?
Me: Definitely.
She smiled before turning to go into the ship but I stopped her. She turned around slightly confused before I surprised her by lunging into her and hugging her tightly.
Me: Thank you for everything.
She quietly giggled before hugging me back.
Kuraime: You're more than welcome. Besides, I did promise everyone that I'd look after you.
I pulled away from the hug and smiled at her brightly, before we entered the ship...
My thoughts: I'm coming Celeste...
