(Ruby's POV)

Yang and I had just woken up before taking showers, eating our breakfast and getting ready for the initiation, all the while, Ayato was nowhere to be found. Yang and I found ourselves in the locker room, where we'd get our weapons. I was so excited as I'll get to show off all my skills and the abilities of my beautiful Crescent Rose!

Yang: You seem awfully chipper this morning.

Me: Yup! No more awkward small talk. Today I can finally show off my skills and let my sweetheart do all the talking.

Yang just rolled her eyes and started to smirk... When she does that, it's never a good sign... I followed her gaze to see what she was smirking at and I saw Ayato, getting ready and attaching some clips to the insides of his wings

Yang: Well all that 'awkward small talk' got you somewhere.

Me: Sure, he may have saved me twice and I may have invited him to my house but it doesn't mean anything. He's just one of those people who are naturally nice.

Yang: Ehehehe, yup you definitely have a crush. I'm calling it!

My face yet again was set on fire from Yang embarrassing me like this!

Me: Y-Yang! Can we just get ready please...?

Her smirk did not waver...

Yang: Aww, you didn't deny it.

Before I even had the chance to protest, Yang had already pushed me up to Ayato and tapped his back before running away out of sight, leaving me here!

Me: Dang it Yang...!

Ayato: Oh, hey there Little Rose.

I turned back around to see Ayato looking at me, with a smile... Okay... I can do this... I've been friends with him for a week... I can talk to him...! You got this Ruby Rose!

Me: O-Oh...! Hi Ayato...! You just got finished getting ready?

Ayato: That's right. Looking forward to see what other stuff you can do in battle, and your sister too

Me: I can't wait to see what you can do in battle, especially the special features of your beautiful weapons! Oh, those clips on your wings, what are they for?

Ayato: Huh? I thought it was obvious enough... They hold my Glacial Blaze.

He said that as he attached his Glacial Blaze to the underside of his wings; that was honestly a creative way of storing weapons...

Me: Oh... Doesn't it get... uncomfortable?

Ayato: On no. Don't get me wrong, it was super uncomfortable for the first time but I've gotten use to it now.

Me: Oh ok. By the way, where were you last night? You said you went to talk to someone but you never came back.

Ayato: Oh, I just went for a walk after I spoke to the person. When I found you guys, you were already asleep so I decided to go to bed and woke up early. Why, did I worry you because I weren't there Little Rose?

(Ayato/Dairoku's POV)

???: You bet you did, you were the only thing she was talking abo- hmpmm!"

I looked back at Ruby, only to realize that she was covering Yang's mouth with her hand as she blushed madly

Me: Hey there Goldilocks.

Yang just waved at me as Ruby kept preventing her from talking. Those two really are a dynamic duo... Before we could continue chatting, Glynda began speaking over the intercoms, telling all the first year students to report to the cliff overseeing The Emerald Forest. I turned around and gestured to the sisters behind

Me: You heard her, let's head over there Little Rose

I started to walk away but I heard Yang jokingly say something.

Yang: You heard him Little Rose~

Ruby: YANG!

I just laughed at the two as we continued our way to the cliff overseeing The Emerald Forest.

We all made our way to the cliff overseeing The Emerald Forest and Oz started to explain what we'd be doing and when he explained the part about the Teams, I could see Ruby's heart completely sink and her world shatter... Poor girl... I hope she at least runs into Yang... Jaune, who was next to me tried to ask Oz a question...

Oz: Now, are there any questions?

Jaune: Ah, yes sir...-"

Oz: Good, now take your positions

Everyone besides Jaune got into a combat stance as he tried to ask Oz his question... I knew where this was going, and it was gonna be hilarious

Jaune: Sir, I got a question...

I looked over to my left to see the first student get launched off and Jaune continues to ask is question... finally

Jaune: So, this landing strategy thing, what is it? Are you like dropping us off or something?

Oz: No. You will be falling.

The next person got launched... then the next...

Jaune: Oh I see. Did you hand out parachutes for us?

Then another...

Oz: No. You will be using your own landing strategy.

Jaune: Uhhh... Yeah

I looked over to see Yang put on aviators and wave to us before she too got launched off. Then Ruby looked over to me as I smiled; she returned it with a slight blush

Me: Good luck out there Little Rose!

She began blushing heavier and tried to say something but she was prevented by her being launched off too.

Jaune: So um... What exactly is a landing strateGYYYYYYY!!!???

Jaune couldn't even finish his sentence as he too was sent flying off of the cliff to mine and Oz's amusement. I couldn't help but burst into laughter at this clever stunt pulled by Oz. I even heard him chuckle a bit as he took a sip from his mug

Me: Hahahahaha! That was too good! I swear, you get WAY too much enjoyment from throwing children off of a cliff using mini catapults Oz.

Glynda: At least I'm not the only one who thinks that...

Glynda mumbled before looking back at her tablet. Sometimes I question what this old man enjoys doing, seriously.

Oz: So Mr. Jade, or should I say, Mr. Rein. What are your thoughts on those first year students besides Ms. Rose?

Me: Hmm... I don't know yet. I already know Ruby's gonna do amazingly and I definitely have no doubt in a certain red haired Spartan's skills. As for Ruby's sister, she seems pretty strong and carefree but as for Jaune... Oh boy... He's gonna need some help. Besides that, this year is definitely gonna be very interesting, heh.

I jokingly saluted to the man in green before getting launched off the pad

(Ozpin's POV)

I watched him get launched off but I couldn't help but feel a bit of déjà vu seeing him...

Glynda: That boy... He truly is a splitting image of his father.

Me: Indeed...

CHAPTER 2: INITIATION PART 1

(3rd Person POV)

As Ozpin stood on the cliff watching all the first year students fall into the Dangerous Emerald Forest, Glynda by his side was looking down on her tablet, keeping track of the pairs that were formed.

Glynda: The last pair has been formed sir, Nora Valkyrie and Lie Ren. The poor boy... I can't possibly imagine those two getting along...

but still, he'd probably better off than Ms. Nikos...

Her tablet showed Nora booping Ren's nose as the two smiled before switching to Pyrrah and Jaune who were walking through the forest; the latter being very nervous

Glynda: I don't care what his transcripts say, that boy is not ready for this level of combat. But I guess we'll find out soon enough. At their current pace, they should reach the temple in a few minutes.

Ozpin remained quiet as Glynda turned to look at him.

Glynda: Speaking of which, what did you use as relics this year?

Again, Ozpin remained quiet but he was looking down on his scroll.

Glynda: Professor Ozpin?

Ozpin was watching from two perspectives... He was looking at Ayato, who had just landed in the forest, flying through the trees, barrel rolling and weaving his way through the leaves and branches. He was also looking at one of the pairs that formed, Ruby and Weiss. Ruby was sitting on the ground, looking defeated while Weiss paced back and forth, trying to find the way to the temple

(Ruby's POV)

So here I was, stuck and lost with the mean princess girl. I didn't even feel like trying because I had no idea where to go but on the other hand, Ms. Perfect over there was trying to act all smart by wasting her energy trying to prove that she knows where we are...

Weiss: It's definitely this way... I mean, this way, it's definitely this way. Alright, it's official. We passed it.

I basically had enough and got up to meet the ice queen, annoyed.

Me: Why can't you just admit that you have no idea where we're going?

Weiss: Because I know exactly where we are going. We're going... to... the Forest Temple.

I just grunted in frustration from her dumb logic.

Weiss: Oh, stop it, you don't know where we are either.

Me: Obviously, but at least I'm not pretending like I know everything.

Weiss: What's that supposed to mean?

Me: It means you're a big, stupid jerk and I hate you!

Weiss: Argh, just keep moving.

I decided to mock her out of more frustration.

Me: "Just keep moving. Hurry up. Wahhh, watch where we are going." Why are you so bossy?

Weiss: I'm not bossy! Don't say things like that!

Me: Stop treating me like a kid!

Weiss: Stop acting like a kid!

Me: Well stop acting like you're perfect!

Weiss: I'm. Not. Perfect! ...Not yet... But I'm still leagues better that you.

She began walking away, leaving me annoyed, frustrated and... upset...

Me: You don't even know me...

I stood there for a while looking down as my eyes began burning from tears threatening to fall until I hear Weiss call out to me

Weiss: I'm positive this time! It's this way. Do you mind hurrying Little Miss Riding Hood?

That nickname just annoyed me...

Me: My name is Ruby and you have no sense of direction Weiss. We're nowhere near it.

Weiss: Don't be ridiculous. All you can do is follow me, I know where to go.

Me: Hmph! I'm not much of a follower!

Weiss: I'm not sure about that. Mind telling me why a girl like you would attend the academy?

Me: To be a huntress of course! Like the one in the stories!

Weiss: Stories...? Unbelievable. I came here to learn. To grow stronger. I strive for perfection. Unlike you, I'm not here for fun and games. If all you want is to be a part of the stories, give up and go home. Your mother's waiting to read one to you.

I... I couldn't say anything... M-Mother...? This girl... What she said... triggered a memory... I was kneeling in front of my mother's grave with my hood over my head... I wanted to stay strong but... I just couldn't... I broke down in tears and couldn't hold my negative emotions in... Sadness, anger, hopelessness... was what I felt in that moment... The vibrant red of a rose... dyes me in my dream... cloaks me in sadness...

I just avoided making eye contact with Weiss as I did my best to prevent tears from falling from my eyes again... She knows nothing...!

Me: You don't know anything...

Weiss: You're a little girl fascinated by fairy tales, am I wrong?

Me: ... You... think you know everything... Huh...?

She stayed quiet with a somewhat concerned look on her face...

Me: I... lost someone important to me...That's when I realized, reality doesn't always end happily like the stories... No one's going to show up in the nick of time... No one's going to save you... So instead of being sad... and waiting for help to arrive... I decided I would be the hero... And I will... I'll turn tragedies into happy endings. That's why I'm here!

We were interrupted by a loud squawking noise behind me. I turned around to see two large black wings... A gigantic black bird... A Grimm Nevermore...!

Weiss: A Grimm!?

In this situation, it would be best to run away... but... We have to get to the temple and right now, we have no idea where it is... The best way to find it would be to look from the skies... I had an idea, but it was gonna be really crazy and stupid, but it'll work! I equipped Crescent Rose in its rifle mode and ran at the Nevermore. It opened its mouth to eat me but I shot it in the mouth, causing it to get disoriented then I shot it a couple more times on its underside. I put away Crescent Rose and grabbed onto the Nevermore's leg.

Me: Gotcha!

It began to slowly hover off the ground but I held my hand out to Weiss

Me: Weiss!! Take my hand!!

Weiss: Huh!? Huh!??

She grabbed my hand and I pulled her up onto the Nevermore as it began to fly away. We held on tightly to the Grimm as it soared through the sky. Hopefully we'd fine the Temple easier like this

Weiss: AAAHHHH! Are you trying to take me down with you!???

Me: Ehehehe! It'll be faster flying instead of walking in circles!

Weiss: I WAS A FOOL TO FOLLOW YOOOUUUUU!!!!!

The blood that was shed in exchange for 15 years of peace... was bright red like a rose... Now, it's my turn...!

(3rd Person POV)

Unbeknownst to the two girls, a certain Phoenix Winged Boy was watching their whole conversation. He tensed up a bit when Weiss mentioned Ruby's mother but he smiled a proud smile at the Red Hooded Rose of life, making her surprisingly mature speech... When the girls were taken away by the giant Nevermore, he sprouted his wings and began to follow them in the sky, smiling all the way

Ayato: No doubt... Little Rose will be an amazing huntress... I hope Summer's seeing how grown up, her daughter has become...
