The Rise of Voltron Part 2

"Alright. Guess we're all ditching class tomorrow" Lance said before piloting the lion into the portal, which closed right before the Galra ship got through.

Everyone let out strained groans before coming out of the other side of the portal.

"Whoa... that was.." Lance said before Hunk vomited.

"So sorry" he breathed.

"I'm just surprised it took this long" Pidge said while adjusting his glasses.

"I don't recognize any of these constellations. We must be a long, long way from Earth" Shiro stated.

"The lion seems to want to go to this planet. I think... I think its going home" Lance said before the lion took off towards a planet.

Everyone ended up clinging to Lance as they went through the planet's atmosphere and the clouds.

"Guys, personal space. Hunk, your breath is killing me" Lance said.

"Um, is it just me, or is anyone else having second thoughts about flying through a mysterious wormhole?! Why are we listening to a robotic lion anyway?!" Hunk said sharply.

"Got us away from that alien warship, didn't it?!" Lance snapped back.

"I don't know if you noticed, but we're in, an alien warship" Keith told Lance.

"Oh, are you scared?" Lance asked.

"With you at the helm, terrified" Keith replied.

"Alright! Knock it off! No one's happy to be in this situation, but we're here now. If we want to get through this, we gotta do it together" Shiro said in a stern tone.

"So, what exactly do we do now?" Chris asked.

"First, we find out where we're headed. Lance?" Shiro replied before looking at the pilot.

"I don't know" Lance replied.

He looked around to see everyone staring at him.

"I'm sorry. The lion's not talking to me anymore" he said before hearing a quiet hissing sound.

"Oh wait wait wait! Shh. Listen. I think I hear something" he said quickly.

"I think I'm hearing it too" said Keith as he looked around.

"I think its kind of like a, high pitched squeal?" Hunk said.

Then everyone realized what it was as Lance smirked. Everyone quickly covered their noses as they all scolded him.

"Lance, I swear, you have the mindset of a child" Chris spoke through her hand that was covering her nose and mouth.

"But seriously, there's a castle up ahead" Lance stated, making everyone look ahead to see he was right.

The group all whoa'd and wow'd at its beauty. The lion's yellow eye windows glowed, and so did all six tips of the castle. The mechanical lion flew around and landed at the castle entrance.

Before leaving the lion, Shiro gave everyone a warning.

"Keep your guard up" he said.

"Something wrong?" Pidge asked.

"My crew was captured by aliens once. I'm not gonna let it happen again" came the reply before everyone walked out of the lion.

Once they were all out, everyone began to panic as the blue lion moved on its own.

"I knew it was going to eat us!" Hunk panicked.

The lion, instead, simply let out a roar, and the castle door began to open. Hunk wailed out of fear as he took shelter behind everyone else.

Once the door was fully open, no one moved for a few seconds.

"Oh! The door is open!" Hunk said, stating the obvious.

He looked back at the lion.

"Guess I was wrong about you" he said to it.

Everyone shared a glance before walking through the open door. The place was dark, with the only source of light coming in from the doorway.

After a minute, Hunk called "Hello?!"

Everyone quickly turned around to look at him.

"Dude, really?" Chris whispered.

Hunk shrugged and the group continued walking. They all soon reached a short human sized staircase.

"From the size of the lion, I expected these steps to be bigger" Pidge noted.

Suddenly, the whole place lit up, bathing the group with light. Hold for identity scan, said a computerized voice. Everyone was quickly surrounded by small glowing blue vortexes of light.

"Why are we here? What do you want with us?" Shiro asked.

Built in torches began to flare up, each holding a floating of blue light. A hallway at the top of the staircase also lit up.

"I guess we're going that way" Pidge stated.

Everyone went up the small staircase and down the hallway.

As the group made their way through the castle, Hunk kept calling, "Hello?!".

"Aye ye ye" Chris muttered under her breath.

The group eventually reached some double doors that slid into the wall, revealing a large room with columns holding up the ceiling.

"Where are we?" Lance asked.

Pidge approached a raised podium.

"Its some kind of control room" he said as the podium lit up. Everyone turned around as a circular pod came up out of the ground.

Someone was inside. Another pod came up. It too, was holding someone.

"Are these guys, dead?" Hunk asked.

The first pod that came up opened, the glass disappearing with flecks of different colored lights. The person inside was a female, and judging from her clothes and small tiara, she was a princess.

She opened her eyes with a soft gasp and cried, "Father!".

However she had also reached forward, which caused her to also fall forward. Lance quickly ran up to catch her. When the strange woman looked up at him, Lance blushed a bit.

After all, she was pretty good looking.

"Hello~" he said flirtatiously while smiling a bit.

"Who are you? Where am I?" the strange woman asked.

"I'm Lance. And you are right here in my arms" Lance replied.

Chris facepalmed at that.

"Your ears..." the woman said, trailing off.

"Yeah?" Lance asked.

"They're hideous. What's wrong with him?" the woman said then asked.

"Wha-nothing's wrong with them! They heard exactly what you said about them!" Lance suddenly snapped.

The strange woman grabbed one of his ears, turned Lance around, pulled an arm behind his back, painfully, and got him down on his knees, all in one smooth motion.

"Who are you?! Where is King Alfor?! What're you doing in my castle?!" the strange woman snapped question after question.

"A giant blue lion brought us here! That's all we know!" Lance cried out.

The woman let go of Lance.

"How do you have the blue lion?! What happened to its paladin?! What're you all doing here?" she asked sharply, looking at the others.

Lance stood up, holding the ear that had been grabbed.

"Unless... how long has it been?" the woman said, almost to herself.

Chris cleared her throat, gaining the woman's attention, and stepped forward.

"M-Ma'am, we don't really understand what your talking about" she said cautiously, but her tone still held a hint of politeness.

"Why don't you tell who you are? Maybe we can help" Shiro said after her.

"I am princess Allura of planet Altaya. I've got to find out where we are, and how long we've been asleep" the woman stated before walking over to the raised podium.

She put her hands on it, which somehow got it to work.

"Okay, that's how that works" Pidge stated.

"Okay, so, uh, what about the second pod?" Chris asked, looking over at it.

After all, she was the one standing the closest to it. As if her words were magic, the second pod opened, this time, revealing a man. His eyes drifted over to her, and he dramatically gasped.

"Ahh! Enemy combatants!" he cried before proceeding to through himself at Chris, who jumped out of the way with a small cry of surprise.

"Hey! Watch it! I'm not gonna hurt you man!" she cried indignantly.

The strange man stumbled a bit when he landed and flailed around a bit to regain his balance, propping his hand up on a pod.

"Quiznak! Your lucky I have the case of the old sleep chamber knees. Otherwise I'd grab your held like this, wrap you up like so, one, two, three, sleepy time!" he said, looking back at Chris.

"Well, before you did that, she, ho, ha, hiya! Like that!" Lance stepped in, making a few karate motions.

"Lance, I don't need you stepping in for" Chris stated as she held up a hand.

"Oh really?! Well, how could she do that when I've already come at her with this?!" said the strange man as he pushed his hand forward quickly a couple of times, moving forward a bit each time he did so.

"Man, these guys are good" said Hunk.

"It can't be..." Allura breathed.

The strange man instantly stood up straight and looked over at her.

"What is it?" he asked, worry evident in his tone.

"We've been asleep for ten thousand years!" Allura stated.

She had a flashback, remembering everything that had happened before her father, King Alfor, put her to sleep.

"Planet Altaya, and all of the planets in our solar system, have been destroyed. Coran, father is gone. And our entire civilization..." Allura said.

After a few moments, she hissed, "Zarkon".

Shiro gasped a bit as he remembered something.

"Zarkon?" he said.

"He was the king of the Galra. A vile creature, and enemy to all free people!" Allura told him.

"I remember now. I was his prisoner" Shiro stated.

"He's still alive? Impossible!" Allura said.

"I can't explain it but its true. He's searching for a super weapon called Voltron" Shiro told her.

"He's searching for it because he knows its the only thing that can defeat him. And that's exactly why we must find it before he does" Allura stated.

Meanwhile, over on a Galra battleship, a witch gasped as her yellow eyes began to glow. She walked around a bit before finding King Zarkon.

"The blue lion has returned. And now I feel a resurgence of Altayan energy" she said.

"Alfor's daughter lives. How?" King Zarkon replied.

"I know not. But it is time to reclaim what is rightfully ours" said the witch.

"Yes. I shall wipe that foul race from the universe forever, and take back Voltron. Contact my commanders" Zarkon stated.

On another Galra ship, the commander of the ship charged up his arm.

He looked around when a computer voice said, Emperor Zarkon requests an audience

Once he and his second in command were at the control room, Zarkon appeared on a holographic screen.

"Commander Zendak, the princess of Altaya is alive and hiding in your sector. We believe she alone holds the whereabouts of the remaining lions. Your battle fleet is the closest to her location. Retrieve her and the lions. With them all, the Galra empire will be unstoppable" he said.

"I fight for the empire. I conquer in the name of Galra. No foe has ever stood in my way. And none ever will. Rapidsaw!" Commander Zendak replied.

Zarkon disappeared, and Zendak looked at his second in command.

"Set a course for Airis" he said.

Back at the castle, Coran was trying to get Allura to eat.

"Princess, you must eat. Its been ten thousand years!" he said.

"I'm not hungry" Allura replied, dying the floating plate of green goo.

"Man, ten thousand years? That's like one thousand plus ten" Lance said.

"That's times ten" Keith said immediately, correcting Lance.

"Whatever, drop out" Lance replied sharply.

"I haven't eaten since breakfast and I'm starving" Hunk stated, holding his stomach.

"Yeah, but you've thrown up like, five times" Pidge pointed out.

"Hmm, good point" Hunk said before beginning to eat the green goo stuff on the floating plate. He gagged a bit at it, but continued eating it.

"I can't believe your civilization created such advanced technology ten thousand years ago. It must have been an incredible place" Shiro stated.

"Yes, it was. But now it is gone. And we're the last Altayans alive" Coran said before looking at Allura.

She looked down a bit and Coran came over to her. Allura instantly hugged him, seeking comfort. Soon, the sound of squeaking reached her ears, and she softly gasped. Walking over to the pod she had come out of, she discovered four different colored mice.

"Looks like we're not the last after all" she said with a smile.

However, the moment was cut short when an alarm started blaring.

"What is that?!" Chris said.

"A galra battleship has set its tracker to us!" Coran replied.

"How did they find us?!" Allura cried.

"I'm not sure, but I bet its Keith's fault" Lance stated.

"Say whatever you gotta say to make yourself feel better" Keith replied.

He then raised his voice.

"After getting us stuck on the other side of a wormhole!" he said.

Lance got in his face.

"I'll stick you in a wormhole!" he snapped.

Shiro came over and separated the two.

"Stow it cadets! This is not time to place blame, its time to work as a team!" he said sternly.

He looked over at Coran.

"How long before they arrive?" he asked.

Coran did some counting on his fingers.

"At their speed, well, uh, carry the two, uh, I'd say a couple of days?" he said.

"Good, let them come. By the time they get here, you six will have reformed Voltron, and together, we will destroy Zarkon's empire" Allura stated.

Hunk burped a bit.

"Sorry! Food goo" he said before wincing as his stomach rumbled.

"Princess, there are six of these lions. How are we going to find the rest?" Shiro asked.

Allura led everyone to a different room and stood in the center. A soft beam of light came down on her.

"King Alfor connected the lions to Allura's life force. She alone is the key to the lion's whereabouts" Coran explained.

After a few seconds, the place darkened and everyone was surrounded by a holographic map of the galaxy.

"Oh wow! This definitely beats any telescope!" Chris whispered in awe.

Every star and planet also had coordinates. Pidge also noticed something else.

"The black lion looks like its in the same location as the blue lion" he said.

"Look at your primitive sinapsese firing away in their little brain cage" Coran stated.

"Very observant. That's because the black lion is here in the castle" Allura said.

"To keep the black lion out of Zarkon's hands, King Alfor locked it in the castle. It can only be freed if the other five lions are present" Coran explained.

"As you have found, the lions choose their pilots. It is a mystical bond and cannot be forced. The quintessence of the pilot is mirrored in his or her lion. Together, they force something greater than science can explain" Allura explained, she moved her hand, which caused the holographic galaxy map to move around as well.

"The black lion is the decisive head of Voltron. It will take a pilot who is a born leader, and in control at all times. Someone whose men will follow without hesitation. That is why, Shiro, you will pilot the black lion" Allura said as the black lion came around and stopped in front of Shiro.

 Allura moved her hand again.

"The green lion has an inquisitive personality, and needs a pilot of intellect, and daring. Pidge, you will pilot the green lion" she said as the green lion stopped in front of pidge, who smiled with happiness.

"The blue lion-" Allura started before she was interrupted.

"Whoa, hold up, let me guess, takes the most handsome slash best pilot of the bunch?" Lance asked while flashing Allura a smile most women would faint over.

Allura sighed and moved on.

"The yellow lion, is caring and kind. Its pilot is the one who puts needs above his own. His heat must be mighty. As the leg of Voltron, you will lift the team up, and hold them together" Allura said, the yellow lion stopping in front of Hunk, who looked shocked that it was him.

"The silver lion, requires a pilot who knows how to make the best of difficult situations, as well as connect with others on an emotional level. Chris, you will be the pilot of the silver lion" Allura said.

Chris smiled as the silver lion stopped in front of her.

Allura then held out her hands, a red lion appearing in them.

"The red lion is temperamental, and the most difficult to master. Its faster and more agile than the others, but also more unstable. Its pilot needs to be someone who relies more on instincts, than skill alone. Keith, you will fly the red lion" Allura said before making the lion float over and stop in front of Keith, who smiled a bit.

Though the smile quickly disappeared as Lance said, "What? This guy?".

"Unfortunately, I cannot locate the red lion's coordinates yet. There must be something wrong with the castle. After ten thousand years, it might need some work" Allura added.

"Don't worry, we'll find it soon. They don't call me the coranic for nothing" Coran said.

No one really laughed at the joke.

"That's because it sounds like mechanic. Coranic. Mechanic. It doesn't sound, exactly like it but similar" Coran stated.

All of the lions suddenly roared and moved away from each person, all coming together above Allura.

"Once all the lions are united, you will form Voltron. The most powerful warrior ever known, the defender of the universe" she said.

"Awesome!" Lance said.

"Okay, we're going to be in there, flying lions, got that part. How do I turn into the legs? Also, is this going to be a long trip? Because I have to pee. Do you guys pee?" Hunk said then asked.

"And we don't have much time. Pidge and I will go after the green lion. Lance, you take Hunk and get the yellow one. Keith, Chris, you guys go get the silver lion" Shiro said, giving his team their tasks.

"In the meantime, I will get this castle's defenses ready. They'll be sorely needed" Allura said.

"I'll ready two pods and load in the coordinates so that you can reach the green and silver lions" Coran said.

After everyone had taken flight, Allura opened up three wormhole portals.

"We can only keep the wormholes that lead to you other lions for two of your Earth hours, so you'll have to be quick about your work. Good news is, that according to my readings, all three planets are relatively peaceful. So if you do get stuck, there could be relaxing places to live out the rest of your lives. Well, enjoy the trip!" Coran said.

Everyone started letting out cries of protests, but before anyone could get out a full sentence, they were all sucked through their wormhole portals.

Pidge and Shiro were the first ones to arrive at their planet, and after landing, they immediately started hiking through the jungle like place. The two eventually reached a river and Pidge noticed something.

"Look!" he said, pointing to an unmanned canoe. Neither of the noticed the sloth like creature that had appeared right beside. And when they did, both Pidge and Shiro jumped and let out startled yells.

The sloth creature, however, walked towards the boat, turned around, and motioned for the two to follow.

"I, uh, I think it wants us to get in its canoe" Pidge guessed.

"Then I guess we should go" Shiro said with a shrug.

Pidge gave him a weird look, which he quickly noticed.

"I've been locked up by aliens for a year. This is nothing" he said as he walked forward, Pidge quickly following.

They got into the canoe and the sloth creature pushed off, guiding the canoe into the river. And they all floated along, friendly jungle creatures popped up out of the bushes and vegetation, looking around to see who was on the river.

The trio then went through a short tunnel that had a couple lion carvings on it.

"I wonder if Lance, Hunk, Keith, and Chris are having as good a time as us" Pidge wondered with a small smile.

With Lance and Hunk, things were definitely NOT going so well. In fact, they were in the middle of a battle with some Galra ships and sentries.

"I thought Coran said these planets were peaceful!" Hunk wailed.

"Maybe peaceful means something else in Altayan!" Lance snapped back as he struggled to stabilize his lion.

He then flew over a digging site, where more robot sentries shot at him. Hunk groaned as he looked at the tracker in his hand.

"According to the coordinates, we're right on top of the yellow lion. It below there where they're mining for the ore. They don't even know the lion is there! Or maybe they just got here and they're digging for the lion? What do you think Lance?" Hunk said.

"Who cares?! Just go get it! I'm dropping you down there" Lance replied.

"Me? Down there? No! Nonono!" Hunk said.

"Yes! I'll cover you" Lance said firmly.

He piloted his lion down to the digging site, and destroyed the sentries in there.

"No, w-what if the yellow lion doesn't work? What if I can't get it out of the mud? What if I start crying? Its too late, I'm already crying!" Hunk panicked.

"Sorry! Not time for questions!" Lance said before he ejected Hunk out of the lion.

The stout boy somehow barrel rolled all the way over to the entrance of the mining tunnel. He got over to a large platform and pulled a panel loose, attempting to hotwire the thing into working.

"Oh yeah, sure. Just drop me off at an alien planet. That's cool man. Its only occupied by mean purple aliens that want to kill me, but whatever. Just ignore them and go connect with a big yellow mechanical cat. Easy peasy. Yeah, that all makes a ton of sense to me" Hunk rambled to himself.

The platform turned on and started sliding down a slope, bringing Hunk even further into the mining cave. Inside, lion carvings on the walls and ceiling began to glow yellow.

"Cool!" Hunk breathed.

He got to the bottom of the cavern and clambered off the platform. He grunted as the place shook a bit from a large explosion up on the surface.

"Okay, I'm in a giant hole. Now what Hunk?" he said to himself.

More yellow markings appeared, and a circular marking appeared on a wall across from him.

"Oh, pretty. How am I going to get through that?" he said.

He turned around to look for something a noticed a very large drilling vehicle.

"Hmm" he hummed.

Up on the surface, Lance was taking a bit of heavy fire. He quickly picked up three Galra fighter jets that were flying at him. He took flight and started flying at them, firing lasers from his lion's tail.

Inside the cavern, Hunk managed to drill through the wall, giving him the first look at his lion. Up top, Lance managed to take out one of the fighters, but the others flew by and towards the mining site.

"Oh no!" Lance cried as he wheeled his lion around in an attempt to reach the fighters.

However, he didn't make it.

"Hunk!" he yelled as one of the fighter jet fired missile into the cave opening, sealing it shut.

Lance, was too shocked to even move.

Things weren't going too smoothly for Chris and Keith either. Though they weren't fighting the Galra. Instead, Keith had accidentally landed the pod a little too far from the silver lion, forcing himself and Chris, to walk to get to it.

Though, they did have to overcome a couple of geological challenges to do so. And right, the two were edging their way along a narrow ledge with a very big waterfall right in front of them. And it was pretty dangerous too.

One wrong move, and they would be falling to their deaths. And it was made any easier that the ledge was wet and slippery due to the waterfall that was mere inches from it. Chris and Keith were already almost soaked.

"How much farther?" Keith grumbled.

Chris leaned forward just a little bit, but it was enough.

"Just a few more feet" she replied, a bit strained.

She made her way along the ledge again, Keith keeping a close, but respectful distance from her. Chris went a bit faster as the ledge slowly got wider. Then, when she was close enough, she grabbed at the rock a bit and managed to swing herself onto a much wider pathway.

She let out a small sigh of relief before turning around and extending a hand to Keith. He looked between her hand and the ledge he was on before making up his mind. He slid a bit closer and grabbed Chris's hand.

When the two had a firm grip on each other, Chris pulled hard, pulling Keith, who let out a surprised yelp, onto the pathway.

"You could've warned me you were going to do that" he complained.

"Where's the fun in that?" Chris replied with a small smile as she sat down to catch her breath.

Keith did the same, sitting down with a bit of distance between them.

After a bit, he said, "Alright, we should get going".

"Yeah, let's go" Chris agreed.

She and Keith both stood up, and began walking along the pathway. The two soon came to a fork where the path split off in three different directions. One path sloped downwards, the middle one led to a tunnel, and the last path sloped upwards in a u-turn.

"Great. Now what?" Keith said.

Chris then got a weird feeling. Everything, her mind, brain, and body, was telling her to go on the middle path into.

"I say we take the middle" she said.

"Why?" Keith asked.

"I don't know. I can't really describe it, but its like  something's telling me to take the middle path" Chris replied as she stared at the path in the middle.

Keith didn't say anything, but he followed Chris as she walked down the path and into the tunnel. Inside, the tunnel suddenly lit up with glowing grey lion carvings.

"Oh wow" Chris breathed.

A glowing grey circle appeared around her and Keith, and the two let out surprised shouts as they fell through. However, instead of landing in a puddle, the two landed in a bed of very fluffy moss.

"Well, at least it wasn't a shallow puddle" Chris noted as she got off of the moss.

Keith nodded in agreement as he got up. Then he noticed something behind Chris and his eyes widened.

"What? What is it?" Chris asked as she turned around.

"Oh" she breathed.

There, surrounded in a shimmering grey force field, was the silver lion.

"Let's see if I'm a better pilot than Lance" said Chris, looking at Keith...
