The Rise of Voltron Part 1
Prolouge
Up on the moon Kerberos, a machine came out of the surface with an ice sample. Matt Holt reached over and began to carefully take out the sample.
"Easy son, this ice is delicate" said his father, Sam Holt.
"Amazing. Isn't this exciting Shiro?" Matt said then asked, looking over at the pilot of the mission.
"You guys get a little more excited about ice samples than I do" Shiro replied, amused.
"This is history in the making. Not only have we traveled farther than any human ever has, but this ice could hold microscopic clues about the existence of life outside Earth" said Sam.
Matt looked over at him.
"Think of it dad, we could use those clue to become the first people to meet aliens" he said happily.
"My life's work would be complete" Sam replied before the ground began to shake.
"What is that? Seismic activity?" Sam asked.
"We should get back to the ship" said Shiro before a very large shadow passed over them.
The trio looked up to see a very big ship flying by overhead.
"What...What is that?! It can't be...!" Sam stammered.
Shiro's eyes widened as a tractor beam started powering up.
"Run! Come on! Run!" he yelled, grabbing his team mates and pulling with him.
The group tried to run, but they were quickly overtaken by the tractor beam... Shiro slowly woke up to an unfamiliar voice that was talking to someone. Looking around, he quickly found Matt and Sam on their knees with their hands behind their back.
"Please, we come from a peaceful planet, we mean you no harm!" he said, gaining the Galra's attention.
"We're unarmed-" Shiro would've continued talking if he hadn't been hit in the back of the head with a gun.
When he woke up again, he was being dragged down a hallway of cells, each holding living beings that were all quietly talking to each other.
"Look, they brought in another one" someone said.
Shiro looked around outside one of the windows, and his eyes widened at the sight of all the prison cells that were out there.
-1 year later-
Four people were inside a small ship that was heading towards Kerberos.
"Galaxy Garrison flight log 51114, descending to Kerberos for rescue mission" said the pilot, named Lance.
He plunged the ship down so the it was flying straight at Kerberos. One of the crew mates, Hun, did not like that.
"Ugh, Lance?! Can you keep this thing straight?" he asked.
"Relax Hunk, I'm just getting a feel for the stick" Lance replied.
"Besides" he added, "its not like I did this"
Lance moved the steering stick down sharply, making the ship tilt down quickly.
"Or this"
Lance moved the stick over to the side, making the ship tilt before it straightened out. Hunk groaned at both motions as his stomach churned.
"Okay, unless you want to wipe beef stroke out of all the nooks and crannies out of this thing, you better knock it off man!" Hunk said, half yelling at the last couple of words.
"Ugh. Boys" said a female who was sitting beside Pidge.
Her name was Christopher. Though she preferred to be called Chris. Pidge then got a signal.
"We've picked up a distress beacon!" he said.
"Alright, look alive team. Pidge, track coordinates" said Lance.
"Copy" Pidge replied as he did just that.
"Chris!" Lance said, making the girl look at him.
"Just sit there and look pretty" he said, in a bit of a flirty voice.
Chris rolled her eyes with a soft groan and started helping Pidge track the coordinates of the distress beacon. The ship started to shake pretty bad.
"Knock it off Lance please!" Hunk begged.
"Oh this one's on you buddy. We got a hydraulic stabilizer out" Lance replied.
Hunk checked to make sure before a particularly rough shake almost got him to hurl.
"Oh no" he muttered.
"Oh no' fix now, puke later" Lance told him.
"Me and Pidge lost the signal!" Chris informed.
"The shaking is interfering with our sensors!" Pidge added.
"Come on Hunk!" Lance told the stout boy.
"Its not responding" Hunk panted as he got out of his seat and went over to the main gear tool box.
The beacon then became visible on Lance's screen.
"Oh never mind fellas. Thar she blows. Preparing for approach on visual" he said.
"I don't think that's advisable with our current mechanical and gastrointestinal issues" Pidge replied.
"Agreed!" Hunk called out as he almost hurled again.
"Stop worrying, this baby can take it. Can't you champ?" Lance replied as he lightly patted the ship, which responded with a very rough shake.
"Uh, see? She was naughty, she was naughty" he said.
Lance looked over at his teammates.
"Pidge, let them know that their ride is here" he said.
Pidge unbuckled his seat belt so that he could reach the radio.
"Attention lunar vessel-wha-!" he started before he was thrown to the ground by another rough shake.
"Pidge!" Chris yelped.
"What are you doing?! Buckle your seat belt, and Hunk, stop that shaking!" Lance ordered.
"I'm try-" Hunk started to say before hurling into the gearbox.
After he was done, he got back to his seat and buckled up.
"Attention lunar vessel, this is Galaxy Garrison rescue vector 6 3 tango. Coming in for landing and extraction! Against crew recommendations" said Pidge, saying the last part quietly.
"No time for your mutinous comments now Pidge. Their going under and we're going in" Lance told her.
"Look out for that overhang!" Chris yelled.
"No worries! In my first year in flight school, you know what they called me? They called me the tailor because of how I thread the needle" Lance told her before beginning the pilot the ship under the overhang.
"Come on come on" he muttered to himself.
There was a loud crash and the ship shook more violently than ever.
"We lost a wing!" Hunk and Chris cried at the same time.
"Oh man" Lance muttered before the ship crashed.
Everything went pitch black before a message popped up.
Simulation failed, said a computer voice.
"Nice work, Tailor" Pidge said grumpily as the door behind the group opened up, revealing a tall but stout man.
"Roll out donkeys!" he ordered.
Once the group was outside and standing shoulder to shoulder with some space in between them, Commander Iverson, the person who pulled the group out, started speaking.
"Well, let's see if we can't use this complete failure as a lesson for the rest of you students! Can anyone point out the mistakes these four so called cadets made in the simulator?" he said.
"The engineer puked in the main gearbox!" someone called.
"Yes. As everyone knows, vomit is not an approved lubricant for engine systems. What else?" said Iverson.
"The comms person removed his safety harness"
"The pilot crashed!"
"Correct. And worst of all, they were arguing with each other!" said the commander.
"Heck, if your gonna be this bad individually, you better at least be able to work as a team! Galaxy Garrison exists to turn young cadets like you into the next generation of elite astro-explorers. But these kinds of mental mistakes are exactly what cost the lives of the men on the kerberos mission!" Iverson said to the group.
"That's not true sir!" Pidge called.
"What did you say?!" the commander snapped at her.
Chris quickly covered Pidge's mouth as Lance stepped up.
"Sorry sir, I think he may have hit his head when he fell out of his chair. But point taken" he said.
The commander got close to Lance.
"I hope I don't need to remind you that the only reason you're here is that the best pilot in your class had a discipline issue and flunked out. Don't follow in his footsteps" he said in a warning tone to Lance.
"Next!" he called, signalling the next group to go into the simulator.
Later on, at night, "Lights out in five! Everyone back to their dorms, now!" Commander Iverson called, unaware that Lance and Hunk were hiding.
"We shouldn't be doing this" Hunk muttered.
"You heard Commander Iverson, we need to bond as a team. We're gonna grab Pidge and Chris, hit the town, loosen up, meet some nice girls, and-" Lance said as the lights went out.
"Okay, I'm just saying this here, right now, on the record, this is a bad idea" Hunk replied. Lance started to quietly run and Hunk followed him.
"You know, for someone in a space exploration program, you don't have of a sense of adventure" Lance commented.
"All of your little adventures end up with me in the principle's office!" Hunk hissed back as he and Lance snuck by a window.
The two then hid in some trash cans before a guard walked by. After the guard was gone, the two hopped out of the trash cans and arrived at Pidge's dorm room.
Though, there was a surprise. Chris was standing there outside the door in her usual clothes and wearing a heavy back pack.
"What the-" Lance said quietly as he hid, Hunk following his lead.
The two watched as Pidge came out of her dorm.
"Ready?" he asked Chris, who nodded.
"Let's go" she said, and together, the two ran off.
Lance and Hunk came out of their hiding spot.
"Where are they going?" Lance asked.
Up on a high ledge, Pidge and Chris were both wearing headphones, listening intently to something in front of some complicated tech.
However, they were interrupted when a hand lifted both of their headphones and a voice said, "You guys come up here to rock out?".
Chris and Pidge both jumped and let out started yelps. The two turned around to see Lance right behind them and Hunk slowly crawling over.
"Really?!" Chris snapped as she took back her pair of headphones and jammed them back onto her head, though she did leave one ear free to hear what the others were saying.
"Oh! Lance, Hunk! Uh, just, looking at the stars" Pidge told Lance, who was looking at the equipment in front of him.
"Guys, where'd you get this stuff? Doesn't look like Garrison tech" Lance commented.
"Me and Chris built it" Pidge said proudly.
"You guys built all of this?" Hunk asked as he moved forward to touch it.
Pidge quickly slapped his hand away.
"Hey! Stop it!" he said.
Hunk backed away a bit.
"With this thing, me and Chris can scan all the way to the edge of the solar system" Pidge told Lance.
"That right? All the way to Kerberos?" Lance asked.
Both Chris and Pidge tensed up a bit.
"You guys go ballistic every time the instructors bring it up, what's your guys's deal?!" Lance asked as Hunk fiddled with the equipment.
"Second warning Hunk!" Chris snapped at him.
Hunk let out a groan as he backed away again.
"Look, Pidge, Chris, if we're going to bond as a team, we can't have any secrets" Lance told the two.
Chris and Pidge looked at each other and sighed.
"Fine, the world as you know it, is about to change. The Kerberos mission wasn't lost because of some malfunction or crew mistake" Pidge said.
He stopped when Chris yelled, "Hunk! Stop touching our equipment! Jeez!".
Hunk fell onto his side with a disappointed groan. Pidge continued like nothing happened.
"So, me and Chris have been scanning the system, and we've been picking up alien radio chatter" he said.
Hunk shot up.
"Whoa, what?! Aliens?!" he asked.
"Okay, so you two are insane. Got it" Lance said, not believing it.
"We're serious! They keep repeating one word. Voltron" Chris said as she picked up a sketchbook and showed it to them.
"And tonight, its going crazier than we have ever heard it" she added.
"How crazy?" Lance asked.
Before he could get an answer, an alarm started blaring.
"Attention students! This is not a drill! We are on lockdown! Security situation zool niner! Repeat! All students are to remain in barracks until further notice!" Commander Iverson's voice said over a loud speaker.
"What's going on?" Hunk asked.
He then looked up.
"Is that, a meteor!? A very, very big, meteor?" he panicked.
A large something was coming at them.
Pidge grabbed a pair of high tech binoculars and looked through them.
"Its a ship!" he said.
Lance quickly grabbed the binoculars from him to take a look himself.
"Holy crow! I can't believe what I'm seeing! That's not one of ours!" he yelped.
"No. Its one of theirs!" Chris said as she took off her headphones.
"So wait! There really are aliens out there?!" Hunk panicked as the group watched as the alien ship fly by and crash land.
A couple Garrison vehicles rolled out to the crash site.
"We gotta see that ship!" Pidge said excited after quickly packing up the equipment.
She and Chris both quickly ran off.
"Hunk, come on!" Lance called as he followed the two.
Hunk groaned.
"This is the worst team building exercise ever" he said before following the trio.
Later on, the group settled on a ledge that overlooked the crash site, where a small camp had already been set up. Lance looked through the binoculars.
"Whoa! What the heck is that thing?" he said as he looked at the alien ship.
He then spotted a nice looking girl coming out of the temporary camp building.
"And who the heck is she?" he added.
"Lance! Focus!" Chris snapped slapping him a bit.
"Ow! Right, alien ship" he said.
"Man, I'll never get past those guards to get a look" he added.
"Aw man, yeah, I guess there's nothing to do but head back to the barracks, right?" Hunk said before standing up and starting to walk away.
Pidge, who had been typing on his computer said, "Wait! They set up a camera in there and I grabbed its feed. Look!" he said.
"Hey! What're you doing?!" said a guy that was strapped to an exam table.
"Calm down Shiro, we just need to keep you quarantined until we run some tests on you" said one of the examiners.
"You have to listen to me! They destroyed worlds! Aliens are coming!" said the person on the exam table.
"That's Shiro! The pilot of the Kerberos mission! That guy's my hero!" Lance said.
"Guess he's not dead in space after all" Hunk commented.
"But where's the rest of the crew?" Pidge asked.
Inside the makeshift building, "Do you know how long you've been gone?" one of the examiners asked.
"I don't know! Months, years, look, there's no time! Aliens are coming here for a weapon. Their probably on their way! They'll destroy us! We have to find Voltron!" Shiro said.
"Voltron?!" Pidge and Chris gasped before looking back at the camera feed.
"Sir! Take a look at this! It appears his arm has been replaced with a cyborg prosthetic" said one of the examiners.
"Put him under until we know what that thing can do" said the chief examiner.
"No. No! Don't put me under! No! No! There's no time!" Shiro started yelling.
"They didn't ask about the rest of the crew" Chris noticed.
"What are they doing? The guy's a legend and they aren't even going to listen to him?" Lance said.
"We have to get him out" Pidge stated.
"Uh, I hate to be the voice of reason here, always, but weren't we just watching on TV because there was no way to get past the guards?" Hunk said.
"That was before we were properly motivated. We just gotta think" Lance replied.
"Could we tunnel in?" he then asked.
"Maybe we could get some hazmat suits and sneak in as med techs" Pidge suggested.
"We could also get a couple bombs and detonate them somewhere far off, provide a nice distraction" Chris added.
"Or we dress up like cooks, head back to the dorms, sneak into the commissary, little late night snack" Hunk added.
"How is that going to help us get Shiro out of there?" Chris asked him.
Before Hunk could say anything, Lance spoke up.
"No. What we need is a distraction, like Chris said" he said.
It was almost like something made his words come true, because right after Lance said what he said, a couple bombs exploded in the distance.
"Is that the aliens?! Is that-is that the aliens?! Are they here?! They got here so quickly!" Hunk stammered as Pidge looked around.
"No! Those explosions were a distraction! For him!" he said, pointing to someone who was coming around on a hover jet craft thing.
"The Garrison's heading toward the blast, and he's sneaking in from the other side!" Chris realized as Lance held up the binoculars.
"No way! Oh he is not going to beat us in there! That guy's always trying to one up me!" he said once he realized who it was.
"Who is it?!" Hunk called as Lance started running towards the camp.
"Its Keith!" came the answer.
"Who?" Chris and Pidge chorused.
"Are you sure?!" Hunk called as he started to follow Lance.
"Oh I'd recognize that mullet anywhere!" Lance snapped.
"Who's Keith?!" Chris yelled as she and Pidge went after the two boys.
Inside the building, "His readings are off the chart" said one of the examiners.
They all looked around as the door opened revealing Keith, who narrowed his eyes at them.
The examiners all rushed at him with a, "Hey!". But, in a matter of seconds, they were all on the ground, unconscious.
Keith then went to the table side and was surprised by who was there.
"Shiro?" Keith said quietly before cutting him loose.
Keith was standing up with Shiro's good arm around him when he was interrupted by Lance.
"Nope, nope, nono, no, no you don't, I'm saving Shiro" said Lance as he came over and got Shiro's other arm.
"Who are you?" Keith asked.
"Who am I? The name's Lance" Lance replied.
Keith didn't say anything though.
"We were in the same class at the Garrison?" Lance told him.
"Really? Are you an, engineer?" Keith asked.
"No, I'm a pilot. We were like rivals, you know, Lance and Kieth, neck and neck" Lance replied.
"Oh, wait, I remember you. Your a cargo pilot" Keith told him.
"Yeah, well, not anymore. I'm fighter class now, thanks to you washing out" Lance replied.
"Well, congratulations" Keith said to him as they began moving Shiro out.
"Oh man, their coming back, and they do not look happy!" Hunk said, referring to the Garrison personnel.
"We gotta go!" Chris said before running over to Lance and Keith, who were getting Shiro on Keith's ride, Pidge and Hunk close behind.
"Uh, do you mind if we catch a ride with you?" Hunk asked as everyone hopped on, Hunk's weight making the hover jet craft a bit unbalanced.
"Is this thing going to be big enough for all of us?!" Pidge asked.
"No" Keith replied as the lights from the Garrison vehicles fell on them.
Keith started up the ride and quickly flew them out.
"Why am I holding this guy?" Pidge asked as she was forced to hold onto Shiro.
"Hey, we did all fit" Hunk said, a bit happily.
Lance looked behind them to see the Garrison vehicles catching up.
"Can't this thing go any faster?!" he asked.
"We could toss out some non-essential weight" Keith replied.
"Oh right!" Lance said before looking around.
Then he realized what Keith meant.
"Okay, so that was an insult, I get it" he said.
"Big man, lean left!" Keith told Hunk who did so.
The hovercraft moved left and when the Garrison vehicles attempted to do so too, a couple were taken out by skidding and rolling to a stop.
"Oh man! Mr. Harris just took out Professor Montgomery! No no, he's fine" said Hunk.
"Big man! Lean right!" Keith called.
Hunk leaned over to the right, making the hovercraft move over to the right too. The group landed on a ledge in front of the Garrison vehicles, where another one was taken out because the driver slammed on the brakes.
Hunk then spotted something terrifying.
"Guys! Is that a cliff up ahead?!" he yelped.
"Yep" Keith said with a smile as he sped up.
"Chris! Are you actually enjoying this?!" Pidge asked when he heard his friend let out a quiet, yet happy, "Whoo-hoo!".
"Uh, yeah! You know I'm the adventurous type!" Chris replied.
Then everyone, except Keith, started letting out yells and screams of fear or, in one person's case, enjoyment.
"What're you doing?! Your gonna kill us all!" Lance screamed.
"Shut up and trust me!" Keith snapped back.
He then did a couple of motions that balanced out the hover craft, making it so that no one crashed. Then, Keith continued driving away, while a Garrison vehicle stayed up on the edge of the cliff.
The next morning found Shiro standing outside in front of a small cottage in some fresh clothing. He was examining his cyborg prosthetic arm, but stopped when Keith came around.
"Its good to have you back" he said.
"Its good to be back" Shiro replied with a small smile.
"So what happened out there? Where were you?" Keith asked.
Shiro sighed.
"I wish I could tell you. My head's still pretty scrambled. I was on an alien ship, somehow I escaped, its all a blur" he said.
He then looked at Keith.
"How did you know to come save me when I crashed?" he asked.
"You should come see this" Keith replied before heading back to the cottage.
There, he removed a sheet from a wall, revealing...something.
"What have you been working on?" Shiro asked.
"I can't explain it really. After getting booted from the Garrison, I was kinda, lost, and found myself drawn out to this place. It was like something, some energy was telling me to search" Keith explained.
"For what?" Shiro and Chris both said at the same time.
The two looked at each other in surprise for a few seconds before Chris awkwardly cleared her throat and turned her attention back to the wall.
"Well, I didn't really know at the time. Until I stumbled across this area" said Keith, putting his hand on a part of a map labeled 'energy source'.
"Its an outcropping of boulders with caves covered in these ancient markings. Each tells a slightly different story about a blue lion. But they all share clues leading to some event, some arrival happening last night" he said.
Keith looked at Shiro.
"Then you showed up" he added.
After a couple moments of silence, Keith and Shiro looked at everyone else.
"I should, thank you all for getting me out" said Shiro.
He approached Lance and held out his prosthetic hand.
"Lance, right?" Shiro asked.
Lance hesitated before shaking Shiro's hand, who then turned to Chris.
"I'm Christopher, Chris for short" she said as she also shook his hand.
She was a bit surprised to find that the prosthetic was both warm and actually felt like a human hand. Shiro then turned to Pidge.
"The nervous guy's Hunk. I'm Pidge" he said as he shook Shiro's hand.
"So, did anyone else from your crew make it out?" he asked.
"I'm not sure. I remember the mission, and being captured. After that its just bits and pieces" Shiro told him.
"Yeah, sorry to interrupt, but, back to the aliens. Where are they now? Are they coming? Are they coming for all of us? Like, where are they at this very moment?" Hunk asked, firing question after question.
"I can't really put it together. I remember the word, Voltron. Its some kind of weapon their looking for, but, I don't know why. Whatever it is, I think we need to find it before they do" said Shiro.
"Well, last night, I was rummaging through Chris and Pidge's stuff, and I found this picture" said Hunk as he held up a photo of Chris who was with someone who looked a lot like Pidge.
"Look, its Chris and Pidge" Hunk said as he chuckled a bit.
"Hey! Gimme that!" Chris snapped as she snatched the photo back, along with her backpack that Hunk had in his hands.
"What were you doing in mine and Pidge's stuff?" she asked sharply as she carefully put the photo away.
"I was looking for a candy bar. But then I started reading Pidge's diary" Hunk said as he produced the diary.
"What?!" Pidge yelped as he too snatched that away from Hunk.
"And I noticed that the repeating series of numbers the aliens are searching for looks a lot like a fraunhofer line" said Hunk.
"Frown-who?" Keith asked.
"Its a number describing the emission spectrum of an element. Only this time it doesn't exist on Earth. I thought it might be this Voltron, and I think I can build a machine to look for it. Like a Voltron guider counter" Hunk stated.
"Hunk, you big gassy genius!" Lance praised.
"Its pretty fascinating, really. The wavelength looks like this" Hunk said before producing a piece of paper, showing the wave length.
Keith then realized something.
"Gimme that" he said before taking the paper and walking over to the wall.
There was a picture of the top of a mountain range that was in the same shape of the wave length. Later on, the group, now armed with Hunk's 'Voltron Finder', as Chris called it, found themselves at the same area where the picture had been taken.
Pidge was holding an antenna with Hunk aimed a device in his hands.
"Okay, I admit it, this is super freaky" Lance said, his voice echoing a bit.
"I'm getting a reading" Hunk said.
He began to move forward, with Pidge in tow. Everyone else began to follow them. The device soon led the group to a cave entrance, and they all went inside. Chris quickly noticed some carving in the wall that were in the shape of a mechanical lion.
"Hey Keith, what are these?" she asked, motioning to the carving she was standing in front of.
"Those are the lion carvings I was telling you about. Their everywhere around here" Keith replied as Lance went over to a different one.
He brushed off some rock dust to get a better look, and the carvings all suddenly began to glow blue, standing out against the darkness in the cave tunnel.
Everyone let out their own versions of 'what's' and 'whoa's'.
"They've never done that before" Keith stated.
A large glowing circle appeared on the ground around the group, who all let out yells and screams as the ground suddenly caved in on them.
After sliding down a tunnel, the group all landed in a somewhat deep water puddle.
"That was kinda fun" Chris muttered as she sat up, rubbing the back of her head.
"Fun?!" Pidge asked incredulously.
"Well, except for the rough landing, yeah" Chris replied.
She looked around when she heard Lance gasp. When she saw what was in front of them, she also softly gasped. In front of the group was a large, blue, mechanical lion that was surrounded by a blue force field.
"They are everywhere" Lance quietly muttered.
"Is this it? Is this the Voltron?" Pidge asked.
"It, must be" Shiro replied.
"This is what's been causing all this crazy energy out here" Keith stated before moving towards the lion.
Everyone followed him at a slower pace.
"Looks like there's a force field around it" Keith added.
"Really? We hadn't noticed" Chris called sarcastically.
Keith ignored her as he put his hands on the force field. Lance was moving back and forth was he walked.
"Is anyone else getting the feeling this is staring at them?" he asked.
"No" Shiro said after a moment's hesitation.
"Yeah, the eyes are totally following me" Lance said a couple seconds later.
"I wonder how we get through this" Keith said, more to himself than to anyone else.
"Maybe you just have to knock" Lance said as he came over and knocked on the force field.
Instantly, the force field went down as large, circuit like markings appeared under the lion. Everyone then got a vision of six different colored mechanical lions combining into a single large robot.
"Whoa!" everyone breathed out.
"Uh, did everyone just see that?" Lance asked.
"Voltron is a robot!" Chris cried.
"Voltron is a huge, huge awesome robot!" Hunk said happily.
"And this thing is only one part of it! I wonder where the rest of them are" said Pidge.
"This is what their looking for" said Shiro.
"Incredible" Keith breathed.
Suddenly, the blue mechanical lion in front of the group began to move, crouching down and opening its mouth in front of Lance, while a small walk way also appeared.
Lance looked left and right a bit before smirking and walking forward. He soon found his way into the cockpit and sat down on the seat.
"Here we go" he said.
Suddenly, his seat quickly moved up to bring him closer to the controls, scaring him a bit as everyone else came into the cockpit. Holographic screens appeared on the panels around him, and the cave they were all in also appeared too.
"Haha! Alright, very nice!" Lance said happily.
"Okay, guys, I feel the need to point this out, you know, just so that we're all aware. We are in some kind of futuristic alien cat head right now" said Hunk.
Lance suddenly heard something in his mind.
"Whoa, did you guys just hear that?" he asked.
"Hear what?" Keith and Chris chorused.
The two looked at each other then back at Lance as he spoke.
"I-I think its talking to me" he said before leaning forward with a hand on his chin.
He then pressed a couple holographic buttons. The mechanical lion stood up and roared.
"Okay, got it. Now let's try this" Lance said with his hands on the controls.
He pushed them forward, and a few seconds later, the lion exploded out of its rock and stone prison.
Everyone, except Lance, Keith, and Shiro, started yelling as everyone held on to something to steady themselves.
Cause honestly, Lance was flying the lion like a maniac.
"You are, the worst, pilot, ever!" Keith yelled out.
Lance somehow activated the rocket boosters on the lion, making it go even faster, which scared everyone even more scared. Pidge and Hunk were both holding on to Lance, who was holding on to the controls.
Chris clung to the back of Lance's seat like it was her life line while both Shiro and Keith held the sides of it for dear life.
At the Galaxy Garrison, Commander Iverson and another officer were standing outside, watching the mechanical lion fly around every which way.
"What in the sam hill is that?" Iverson asked.
"It appears to be a flying blue lion sir?" said the officer before scratching their head in confusion.
The blue lion landing on the ground and started running, the jarring bounces triggering Hunk's stomach problem.
"Isn't this awesome?!" Lance asked.
"Make it stop. Make it stop!" Hunk begged.
"I'm not making it do anything! Its like its on auto-pilot!" Lance replied.
The rocket boosters activated again and the lion took flight.
"Where are you going?!" Keith asked.
"I just said its on auto-pilot!" Lance snapped.
"It says there's an alien ship approaching Earth. I think we're supposed to stop it" he added.
"What did it say, exactly?!" Pidge asked sharply.
"Well its not like its saying words, more like feeding ideas into my brain, kind of" Lance told him.
"Well if this thing's the weapon their coming for, why don't we just, i don't know, give it to them? Maybe they'll leave us alone. Sorry lion, nothing personal" Hunk suggested.
"Who in their right minds give an alien race a weapon?!" Chris asked him, voice dripping with confusion.
"You don't understand. These monsters spread like a plague throughout the galaxy, destroying everything in their path. There's no bargaining with them. They won't stop until everything is dead" Shiro told Hunk.
After a few moments of unsettling silence, "Oh...never mind then" Hunk said.
By now, the mechanical lion had reached outer space, and what came to greet the group, scared everyone. A Galra battleship.
"Holy crow is that really an alien ship?!" Hunk cried.
After circling around the ship, Shiro said quietly, "They found me".
The battleship started firing at the lion.
"We gotta get it outta here!" Pidge cried.
"Hang on!" Lance ordered.
"Oh, now he tells us to hang on" Chris muttered as she held on to the back of the seat.
Keith couldn't help but snicker a bit. Though he made sure it was quiet.
Lance began moving the lion around in a way to avoid getting hit by the laser shots. Then he took off flying in a random direction.
"Okay, I think I know what to do!" Lance stated.
"Be careful man! This isn't a simulator!" Pidge reminded him.
Lance circled back to the ship.
"Well that's good! I always wreck the simulator" he replied.
He pushed one controller forward causing the lion to release a laser beam that went over the surface of the ship. The places where the beam hit exploded.
"Let's try this" Lance said before flying in close.
He made the lion rake its claws over an undamaged part of the ship and after a moment's hesitation, the places where the claws hit also exploded.
"Nice job Lance!" Shiro praised along with everyone else.
"Okay, I thing its time to get these guys away from our planet" Lance stated.
Inside the battleship, the ship commander contacted someone.
"Lord Zarkon! The escaped prisoner and his people found the lion. It attacked us and is heading out of the system" he said.
"Follow that lion and alert all ships in the area to intercept. Capturing that lion is your first and only priority" Lord Zarkon replied.
"Yes, your majesty" said the ship commander.
The call ended and the commander called, "Full power! After the lion!"
The ship started gaining on the group.
"Oh no!" Hunk yelped.
"Their gaining on us!" Pidge called.
"Its weird. Their not trying to shoot us, their just chasing!" Lance added.
"Okay, seriously, now we think having aliens following us is good?! I am not on board with this new direction guys!" Hunk cried.
"At least we got that ship away from our planet Hunk" Chris snapped at him.
"Where are we?" Keith asked.
"The edge of the solar system. There's Kerberos" Shiro said as they passed by Kerberos.
"It takes months for our ships to get this far. We got out here in five seconds!" Pidge stated.
Suddenly a blue and purple portal opened up in front of the lion.
"What is that?!" Hunk asked.
"Looks like some kind of wormhole" Chris stated.
"Uh, this might seem crazy, but I think the lion wants us to go through there!" Lance told everyone.
"Where does it go?" Pidge asked.
"I-I dunno. Shiro, your the senior officer here. What should we do?" Lance said then asked.
"Whatever's happening, the lion knows more than we do. I say we trust it. But we're a team now. We should decide together" Shiro replied.
Everyone except Chris gave their answer. Then they all looked at her.
"Chris?" Shiro asked the teenage girl.
Chris looked unsure for a few seconds before she sighed.
Sorry mom, she thought as she said, "Let's go"....
