Kanji x Reader
I feel like CTC Kanji Okumiya fits this character best out of every other student character.
*Warning: angst ending, as in, NOT a happy ending*
*Based on author's true story*
It has been a few weeks since you started a new school. You were the new student that everyone were curious about. During recess, some girls will come talk to you to get to know you better. You were a patient and nice person, you answered all of their questions.
You quickly made four friends, they always stuck together. And you were starting to feel like part of their group already.
At lunch, when everyone were lining up in the cafeteria for their turn for the food, you all were just randomly talking. They questioned about where you came from, which was [country name].
About two months had passed, your school life was just about all settled.
When one day, in music class. Your seat was assigned at the front of the classroom. During your preparations for the next song you were learning, you felt a tap on your shoulder.
You turn back to see one of your male classmate gesture to the fifth row: "Kanji says he likes you, [Y/N]."
You looked back to see a good-looking boy grinning at you and he waved once. You were more confused than anything else. You didn't even know his name, he was just your classmate.
After class ended, he called out to you: "[Y/N]! Wait up!"
You looked to him, he was about two inches taller than you. "Yes? Um, Kanji, right?" you asked even though you already remembered his name from the first time you've heard it.
"Yup! And, I want to say this properly: [Y/N], I like you." He said, still with a smile on his face. That made your heart thump. It wasn't the first time someone's told you they liked you, but he was especially bold like this.
You didn't like it when guys confess nervously, those kind of guys could make great friends, but you don't see them as boyfriend potential.
That confession alone made you think of him for the rest of the day.
The next day at school, you started talking to him when he comes up to you. Conversation naturally flowed with you. You began to start liking him, too.
This one time, at recess, you went over to his table instead. He still talked to you, which made you happy that he was always cheerful.
You felt kind of depressed when your mom signed you up for after school studying. But your world lit up again when you found Kanji walking there with you after school. Several times, you and he and a few other students were in a room, doing your homework, you two always sat together. Getting scolded when the teacher found out you were giggling instead of doing work.
Kanji could always make you laugh. That time you were sure you really liked him.
You've never felt like that before, it was like your heart got pumping and you couldn't stop smiling whenever he came into view.
Starting then, you were always the one who went to his desk to talk to him during recess. He would still talk to you, but very soon you found him spending less and less time with you, but instead going to play tag or something with the others.
"I don't get what you see in him, [Y/N]." one of your first friends said, "he's confessed to a lot of girls before, [girl classmate names], even me."
"Yeah, and he's so goofy, and his math marks are terrible. The latest test he got 60/100!" another one of your friends says.
But he got a high mark on literature.... You thought silently while you hear your friends rant on. And besides, he's cute.
But then the next day, he just waved you off or simply dismissed you when you tried to talk to him. At that time, you didn't think much about it, and still remained like a giddy girl in love that you were.
By then, your bold moves started showing, the whole class knew about the two of you.
One time, another classmate angered him, you pulled on his wrist so he wouldn't get into that fight. The entire class turned around and saw you.
You were extremely happy when the teacher switched seats, during a patterns, you were his desk mate. You expect him to grin at you like he always did, but this time, he just let out an exasperated sigh: "you?"
That hit you like a knife. How long has he been acting like this? You were so love struck you didn't realize he's been cold and aloof for weeks already. It was the middle near end of the school year when that happened.
But back then, you didn't know how to hold back. You still felt the feelings whenever he's in sight, so you still gave everything of yourself to him. You followed him around and always tried to start a conversation. But then, he always brushed you off.
"Go away already!" this time, he blurted out. Your eyes widened but he seemed to just see this as an opportunity to escape. You finally decided to take a hint.
"So hey, how're you with Kanji?" your friends asked. You shook your head.
"Eh? So...you broke up with him?!" another one asked. You didn't even think as you nodded your head. Before regretting it, you obviously still like him.
The next day, the news spread so fast you had people asking: "you and Kanji really broke up?!"
"Hey, Kanji heard about it and he was like, so relieved he said: 'finally!'."
You frowned, you decided you needed to talk to him.
"Kanji?" you ask, your tone unusually serious. He just lazily looked up at you: "what do you want? I thought you said we broke up?"
Not even giving you a chance to say anything, he continued: "stop bothering me already! I've had enough of you! Leave me alone!"
You didn't quite remember what happened after that. You knew you didn't cry, but you must've felt hurt, at least.
The two of you were like strangers for the remainder of the semester.
When the second semester of the school year started, you heard that he transferred.
"He probably transferred because he couldn't stand Y/N anymore." People whispered around. You frowned, that was when you decided to officially move on.
EXTENSION:
He started messaging you a year after, something like he misses you.
Miss my ass. You replied politely. One saying that it doesn't matter with you anymore, second saying that you already moved on.
You started ignoring his messages after that. And after he got the hint, he stopped as well.
Four years later, you were already in another country. The two of you were half across the globe apart. During your French class, you suddenly felt a vibration in your pocket.
Your breath hitched in your throat when you saw it was him.
You never deleted his messenger contact, but you never thought you'd hear from him again.
'You there?'
'Do you have time? I just want to talk.'
There was a twelve-hour time difference between the two of you. You quickly replied saying you were in class, and school doesn't get out until 3pm. Which then will be 3am for him.
'It's alright, I can wait for you. It's just an all-nighter, right? No problem.'
That didn't make you feel anything anymore. Moving on was moving on.
After two or three dismissing conversations, you two stopped talking once again.
You weren't strangers. You even sent him a 'happy birthday' a few weeks ago when it was, and he replied a 'thanks'. But nothing further than that was spoken.

:P every last bit of this was true without exaggeration. Its not tear jerking but still.
Im sure many ppl experienced worse and im not trying to get sympathy or some sht here, I just felt like I should summarize this out after a long time.
It's funny how I remember all this (and some other details that I didn't put here) with my horrible memory in like, five years ago.
And yup, I still have his contact info.
