Third Person's POV

It was nighttime as our heroes decided to camp for the night Volo stayed awake because he doesn't feel sleepy at all so he goes for a walk and hears a sound of something strange or singing. he follows the voice, and he reaches the lake.

when he arrives at the lake, he sees a Pokémon that has a femininely anthropomorphic figure with musical bar-style streaks in its hair, quarter notes crotchets for its arms and hands and pupil-less eyes resembling whole notes semibreves. It has a jewel on its forehead and a black headpiece that seems to be shaped like a treble clef, which doubles as an attached microphone such as one often used by singers. Its ovular head seems to be a third of its body's height and about half its height in width.

Volo's eyes widen with shock at the Pokémon before pulling out his Pokédex

"Meloetta. The Melody Pokémon. The melodies sung by Meloetta have the power to make Pokémon that hear them happy or sad. Its melodies are sung with a special vocalization method that can control the feelings of those who hear it."

"Loetta?" Meloetta notices Volo and looks surprised.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to surprised you and I hear your singing and its sounds wonderful. I've been wanting to sing with you, I hope you don't mind" He offers.

Meloetta seems unsure but nods. Volo closes his eyes and takes a deep breath

Volo sings as a few wild Pokémon were walking out of their hiding and they dance along with him and even Meloetta sings along with blonde.

Meloetta sings and dances around Volo

Meloetta cries happily which Volo smiles "thanks for singing with me Meloetta I had so much fun" he thanked the Melody Pokémon.

Meloetta's eyes glow and a empty Pokéball gets pulls out of Volo's back pocket and it falls into the blonde's hand.

Volo looks at Meloetta who flies to the Pokéball "Loetta!" it cried before tapping on the Pokéball and it wiggled two to three times, and it clicked.

"Awesome! I caught a Meloetta!" he stated but then remembers. "Wait... Isn't Meloetta a Unova native Pokémon? what does it doing in Sinnoh?" he asked before looking at the Pokéball with Meloetta inside.

-the next day-

A day has passed as Volo's helping Ash, Dawn setting the table as Gary places the Pokémon food on the ground with Pikachu and Umbreon helping out

Togekiss stays behind helping its trainer.

"Togekiss can you go and check on the others-" Volo ask before getting cut off by a explosion "Or not" he said before running off where the sound came from and sees Ash's Aipom and Dawn's Piplup brawling

Turtwig gets in between only to be hit by both Pokémon.

Togekiss catches Turtwig who looks up at the Jubilee Pokémon. Togekiss puts Turtwig down and gets in between Aipom and Piplup and pushes them away from each other.

"Togekiss!" Togekiss lightly scolds the two Pokémon who look away with a huff

Togekiss sighs and an idea came in Volo's mind and pulls out a Pokéball "looks like you'll be needed sooner than expected; now I have a excuse to use you; Meloetta come on out!" He yells while throwing the Pokéball in the air and the Melody Pokémon appears out of thin air.

"Loetta!" Meloetta smiles.

This make our heroes look surprised as Dawn tried to look up on Meloetta but the Pokédex shows that has no Data of Meloetta.

"No data"

"No data?" Dawn repeat looking con

"Could that mean this Pokémon isn't a Sinnoh Regional?" Gary asked.

Volo looks at Gary and shakes his head "Meloetta is a Pokémon that lives in the Unova Region" he tells Gary

"Unova?" Ash repeats.

"It's a long story" Volo explains.

Then suddenly Meloetta begins to sing as everyone including the Pokémon begins to get their attention back to the Melody Pokémon; Piplup and Aipom looked at each other and smiled.

"Looks at that Aipom and Piplup stopped fighting" Ash points out.

"Meloetta's voice allows those who listen feel relaxed whenever it sings, and I know this because my family has a vacation home in Unova" Volo explains as Meloetta finishes singing and flies back to Volo and sits on his shoulder "Everyone, meet Meloetta; Meloetta, meet everyone" he introduces.

As the Pokémon surrounded Meloetta who smiled at them and flies down and had conversations with the other Pokémon. Meloetta quickly befriended Togekiss and they're seen like Togekiss is Meloetta's big brother.

Then Volo thinks for a second and a light ball appears out thin air as an idea came into Volo's mind 'though I'm planning on competing with Only Togekiss, but I'll see what move Meloetta can do' he wonders 'and obviously Relic Song is one of those moves' he then stated mentally.

Ash looks at Turtwig "thanks for trying to help out with breaking the fight" he then turns to Togekiss "you too, Togekiss" he adds.

"Toge!" Togekiss smiles at Ash.

"Turtwig!" Turtwig jumps on Ash's head while biting it making Ash laugh.

Volo giggles at the scene before feeling uneasy 'why I feel like I'm forgetting something?' Volo questions himself.

"Pathetic" a voice is heard from behind.

'Oh...him' Volo says before turning around.

When he turns and sees a familiar young man who has mid-length purple hair that has one big strand hanging over the middle of his face, small dark eyes and he almost never smiles, except for the occasional smirk and a small chuckle. He wears a purple jacket with navy blue sleeves, a blue undershirt, dark purple pants and purple and navy sneakers with white soles.

"It's Paul" Volo hears Ash stating while the new face named Paul smirked.

'I'm not going to lie; Paul really looks more intimidating in person' he thought before shaking his head remembering that he shouldn't bother Paul at all since he knew that Paul is the key to Ash's character development.

"Wow Paul you sure like to show up out of nowhere" Ash commented.

"I'm just out here doing a little training, to get ready to my Oraburg Gym Battle" Paul answered.

"He didn't ask what were you doing but whatever keep talking, Karen" Volo whispers to himself.

"Am I seeing things or is that Turtwig one of your Pokémon?" Paul asked.

"Yeah, you're not seeing things we're talking strong" Ash said.

"Turtwig!" Turtwig stand next to Ash.

"Doesn't look much to me" Paul said with a smirk.

"What!?" Ash questions not liking Paul's choice of words.

Volo places a hand on Ash's shoulder "not worth your upsetting" he looks down at Turtwig "and neither yours, Turtwig" he adds.

Paul looks at Volo "who are you?" He questions.

Volo ignores Paul and turns his attention fully to Ash "let's just mind each other's businesses" he suggests.

"You know is rude to ignore someone who's talking to you?"

Volo looks at Paul unfazed "doesn't look much to me" he responds mocking Paul's voice which made the others look away holding back their laughter

Paul glares at the blonde "You and me battle now!" Paul challenges Volo which surprises everyone.

"You versus me?" Volo asked.

"Yeah, thought it'll be no doubt who wins" Paul responds.

Volo seems unfazed "let's just let our Pokémon decide for us" he responds as Brock goes up and act as the referee.

Volo takes off his cap and gives it to Gary "hold my cap" he said before Gary takes it and walks up "Okay, Paula show me what you got" he said.

Paul pulls out a Pokéball before throwing it in the air as a bipedal Pokémon resembling a chimpanzee appears in front of him. Its fur is primarily a shade of orange, although its face, outer ears, underbelly, hands, and feet are light yellow. Its ears are large in comparison to its head and has red insides. It also has red markings around its eyes, as well as two pointed teeth in its upper jaw, a swirl-like symbol on its chest, and five fingers on its hands with three toes on its feet. It has a swirly crest of hair on its head. Its rear has a small, round, red patch that is usually obscured by flames produced by burning gas in its stomach. These flames cannot be put out by rain, although they go out when Chimchar goes to sleep, and burn weakly when it feels ill.

"A Chimchar" Volo said pulling out his Pokédex.

"Chimchar, the Monkey Pokémon. Chimchar easily climbs the sheerest of walls and lives on mountain tops. When it sleeps, its flames go out"

'I know this Chimchar, everywhere...' Volo thought remembering the suffering that Paul put it or this case will put it through this enrage the blonde but calms down remembering that Ash will be there to pick up the pieces "Alright, get him Meloetta"

Meloetta flies forward "Loetta!"

Paul looks surprised and pulls out his Pokédex and like Dawn's it shows no data.

"Meloetta is not a Pokémon from this region, and just because it looks cute, doesn't mean you get to underestimate it, rule number one of a Trainer Battle, never underestimate your opponent by their choice of Pokémon" he explains.

Ash looks at Volo with awe

"You can go first" Paul said.

Volo frowns 'he thinks I'm bluffing? Good that will wipe the pride of his face' he thinks "Meloetta, use Hyper Voice!" He commands

Meloetta's eyes glow light blue, and it fires multiple transparent rings that are outlined in light blue from its mouth at Chimchar.

"Dodge it!" Paul yelled as Chimchar dodges the attack.

"Hm..." Volo hums

"Ember!" Paul command as Chimchar fires multiple balls of fire at Meloetta.

"That Chimchar seemed to gotten stronger" Brock commented.

"Pika" Pikachu agrees with the Pewter Gym Leader.

"Send them back with Psychic!" Volo then said.

Meloetta's eyes glows in blue light and the Ember gets outlined by blue light and they flew back hitting Chimchar much to Paul's surprised

"Woah look at Volo go! Is like he was expecting Paul to pull out that move on him" Dawn said.

Ash then realizes something "am I the only one who realizes that this is the first time we see Volo actually battling someone?" Ash asks.

Gary thinks and his eyes widen "now that you mentioned it, we'd never seen Volo battling before, but it seems like he know what's he is doing" he said.

"Use scratch!" Paul yelled Chimchar at high-speed rushes to Meloetta.

Volo smirks "gotcha" he said as Paul gasped.

"Meloetta, Relic Song!" Volo yelled.

"Relic Song?" Ash, Brock, Gary, and Dawn repeated in question.

"Use Flame Wheel to dodge!" Paul yells to Chimchar.

"A waste of time!" Volo yelled back at Paul.

Meloetta sings a beautiful melody wave hitting Chimchar forcing the Fire Type Pokémon back to its trainer falling on its back

Paul growls of annoyance 'somehow I found his battling style familiar, yet so different' Paul thought as he sees Melo engulfing itself in a sphere of light.

Inside which it changes its appearance. Meloetta now changes now it has auburn hair that seems to be stylized in a high bun and red eyes. In both forms, its midriff and eyes match its hair.

"What just happened to Meloetta?" Dawn asked out of shock.

"I'm guessing that Meloetta has a ability to change forms" Brock said

"This is Meloetta's Pirouette form Meloetta changes its forms after using Relic Song, making Meloetta now a Normal-Fighting type" Volo explains much to everyone else's shock "Meloetta! Let's show him how we steal the show!" He yells as Meloetta flies forward 'I'm so sorry, Chimchar' Volo apologizes mentally "Use Close Combat!" He commands.

Pirouette Forme Meloetta appears in front of Chimchar repeatedly punches and kicks the Monkey Pokémon at a fast speed. Chimchar falls down to the ground making Volo winced at the sight. Chimchar struggles to get up

Turtwig look and sees a net about to capture Meloetta Turtwig jumps in and tackles Meloetta away before the net catches Turtwig instead.

"Turtwig!" Ash calls the Tiny Leaf Pokémon.

"Those three again!?" Volo asked.

"Etta!" Meloetta looks shocked.

"Listen is that a voice I hear?"

"It's speaking to me loud and clear."

"On the wind!"

"Past the stars!"

"In your ear!"

"Bringing chaos at a breakneck pace"

"Dashing hope, putting fear in its place"

"A rose by any other name is just as sweet."

"When everything's worse, our work is complete"

"Ember" Paul yelled

"Ember!"

"Ember!?" Jessie and James repeated out of confusion before they get hit by Chimchar's Ember.

"You're wrecking our battle, get lost!"

"Well, there's a twerp with a different color" James said looking at Paul.

Volo crosses his arms "For once I agree, but right now they took my friend's Turtwig and I'm taking it back" he said.

James looks at Volo and blushes a bit "T-Turtwig?" He questions.

"Pikachu's in here!" Meowth stated.

Team Rocket looks down and see that they Got Turtwig and they panicked

"Pikachu's not there!" They stated

Jessie looks at James angrily "what are you color blind!?" She questions.

"Here I thought Ash was pathetic" Paul commented making Volo glare at Paul.

"How dare you!" Jessie yelled at Paul before turning to James "Educate the new twerp, if you please"

James nods "Right, look twerp we know as Team Rocket, smartest, hungriest..." James begins to mutter a few words and begins to cry much to his comrades dumbfounded.

"Wow! That's telling them!" Meowth yelled.

James the pulls out a Pokéball "Carnivine, you'll help me!" James calls his Pokémon throwing the Pokéball only to receive a affectionate bite from the Grass Type "some how you land this to me when I was young, I'm sorry" James said "Bullet Seed" James said as Carnivine gets off James before firing glowing seed at Paul.

"Paul, Volo get out of there!" Ash calls them out of concern.

Volo smiles at Ash "I got this" he assures before narrowing his eyes at Paul "not sure about this guy over here" he adds.

Paul annoyingly grunts "Chimchar use Ember!" Chimchar uses Ember as both moves clashes.

"Now Turtwig, Razor Leaf, let's go!" Ash commands.

Turtwig uses Turtwig to cut itself free from the net.

Ash then catches Turtwig he looks at Pikachu then at Volo "Volo finish them off!" He tells the blonde.

"That goes without saying, Ash! Meloetta! Hyper Voice!" Volo yelled.

Meloetta fires out a transparent sound wave from its mouth hitting Team Rocket causing their hot air Balloon to explode.

"We're blasting off again!" Team Rocket yells as they banished with a thing.

"Wobba! Wobba!" Wobbuffet cried along.

Later a gust of wind pushes Ash, Volo and Paul off the cliff with Meloetta and Chimchar falling along.

As they're falling Volo notices that Paul and Chimchar landed on a branch, and they jump down from branch to stone to branch again and so on.

"Fucking show off, Meloetta use Psychic!"

Meloetta changes back into her Aria form and uses Psychic and they landed safely while Ash and Turtwig fall into the water.

Volo looks back "Ash!" He calls as he runs up to the Kantonian.

"Loetta!" Meloetta follows its new trainer helping him getting both Ash and Turtwig out of the water.

"Thanks, guys" Ash thanked before looking at Turtwig "You're okay?"

Turtwig nod "Turtwig!" It responds with reassurance.

Volo head petted the Tiny Leaf Pokémon "If it weren't for you, Meloetta would've become Team Rocket's next big target, thank you, Turtwig" be said thanking the Pokémon.

"Melo" Meloetta give Turtwig a kiss on the cheek making the Grass Type Pokémon smile and giggles with a blush.

"Hey you three!" Dawn calls.

"Pika Pi!"

"Are you alright!?" Brock asked.

"Yeah don't worry!"

"I've been in worse situations!" Volo then said Ash looks at Volo confused "Story for another time" he tells Ash.

"Let's meet up on the far side of the forest!" Gary suggests.

"Sounds good to me!" Ash agrees.

Togekiss then takes Volo's cap from Gary's hand and flies down to Volo and gives him his hat.

Volo smiles "thanks Togekiss" he said before pulling out his Pokéballs and returned both Meloetta and Togekiss into his Pokéball.

Ash then sees Paul returning Chimchar to its Pokéball and leaves the other two.

"Paul, where are you going?" Ash asks before running up to catch up with Paul "Hey wait up!" He calls with Turtwig following behind.

Volo looks at the two running off he looks back "you guys be careful as well!" Volo said before turning to catch up to Ash and Paul.

Ash, Volo and Paul are now walking "since we wanted to get out of here, let's all get out of here Together"

"That sounds stupid" Paul responds.

"He didn't asked, Paul we're going wetter you like it or not" Volo said dragging Paul with him "and I don't take nos for answer" he adds.

-scene change-

Volo and Paul were walking through the forest.

"You do realize that you left your friend behind, did you?"

Volo turns back and notices that Ash's not with them "fuck" he cursed runs backs his hair tied falls off making his blonde hair fall as Volo runs past Paul which made Paul look with awe.

'Could he be related to her?' He asked himself.

He notices Ash and Turtwig being surrounded by a bunch of Stantlers

"Ash!" He calls before Pulling out a Pokéball "Togekiss, Help Ash!" He calls out.

Togekiss appears and it flap its wings it releases glittery pink wind shooting the Stantlers away.

'was that Fairy Wind? Fairy Type wasn't introduce until after Unova' Volo thought out of surprise before running back to Ash.

"Ash, are you okay?" Volo asked.

"Oh, Volo where's Paul?" Ash asked.

"I left him behind he can wonder off if he wants to, I would be so associated with someone like Paul who only cares for power"

"How can you tell?" Ash questions

Volo rolls his eyes "please, I know a self centered bitch when I see one" he said. Before noticing a Stantler near them "This way, Ash" he said before running off Ash looks back and sees Standler and runs off to catch up with Volo only to be hit by a tree and a hive of bee like Pokémon flies out sounding angry.

"BEEDRILL!" Volo and Ash yell as Volo pulls Ash while they get on Togekiss's back and the Jubilee Pokémon flies off.

"Faster Togekiss!" He tells Togekiss.

"Toge!" Togekiss flaps its wings as it out-sped the Beedrill.

Volo sees Dawn and Brock up a head but they were chased by a angry Ursaring.

'Wait this episode Paul catches this Ursaring' Volo remembers before snatching Dawn, Pikachu and Piplup while Ash gets Umbreon, Brock and Gary and they successfully

The group got out of the forest Togekiss landed and everyone got off the Jubilee Pokémon as Volo stand next to Togekiss.

Both Trainer and Pokémon nod and look back at Ursaring "Togekiss use Sky Attack!"

Togekiss's body becomes surrounded by a white aura and it flies into the Imbernation Pokémon at top speed. As it flies, a white trail of energy is left behind it.

"Chimchar use Flame Wheel!" Volo hears Paul yelling as Chimchar roll past the blonde hitting the Normal Type Pokémon.

"Pokéball, get it!" Paul yelled while capturing Ursaring which clicked after three wiggles.

"Wow Ursaring just got caught"

Ash and Volo frown "Yeah, but not for a good reason" Ash tells the female.

Brock loons confused "What do you mean Ash?"

"We'll tell you some other time" Volo said.

"This one isn't so bad I'll just keep it" Paul said before turning away.

"Paul only care about strong Pokémon if he doesn't seem them to his expectations he'll just released them" Volo then tells the rest of the group.

Gary looks down in disgust which Ash and Brock notices and feels bad for the brunette.

"Hey Volo!" Volo looks and sees Paul glaring at him "let's head back with what we left off"

Volo glares "bring it" he responds as he calls out Meloetta. "You take the first move this time" he said.

"Chimchar use Scratch!" Chimchar.

"Meloetta now!" Volo tells his Pokémon.

"Loe!" Meloetta turns invisible as Chimchar scratches the air much to Chimchar and Paul's shock.

Meloetta the reappear behind Chimchar "now Relic Song!".

Meloetta uses Relic Song knocking Chimchar down.

"Chimchar, Dig!" Chimchar digs underground as Meloetta changed to its Pirouette form.

"What a impressive way of use Dig" Brock said.

"And Meloetta changed to its Pirouette form"

"Aim for the hole and use Hyper Voice!" Volo yelled.

Meloetta shoots a Hyper Voice at the hole forcing Chimchar to jump out covering its ears.

"He's... not so bad, use Ember!" Chimchar fires ball of fire at the Melody Pokémon.

"Counter it with Hyper Voice!" Volo yelled back.

Both Pokémon let out their respective attacks creating a smokey screen Volo and Meloetta look at each other and nod as Meloetta turns invisible.

Chimchar looks around and realizes that Meloetta is nowhere to be seen.

"Chimchar? Chim" Chimchar looks around confusedly.

"Now where did it go?" Paul ask.

"Meloetta vanished again" Ash stated.

"Pika"

"Actually..." Everyone including Paul looks at the Blonde "Meloetta never left, it turned invisible" he revealed.

"Huh!?" They all questioned.

"Meloetta, Hyper Voice!" Meloetta reappears and uses Hyper Voice hitting Chimchar as the Monkey Pokémon falls on its back "now time for the wrap this up, Close Combat!" Volo yelled.

Meloetta undoes it invisibility and give fast kicks and punches knocking Chimchar cold much to Paul's shock

"Chimchar is unable to battle, Meloetta wins so the winner of this battle is Volo" Brock announces as Meloetta flies to its trainer.

"And that's how you steal a show" Volo states.

"Loetta!"

Paul hums before returning his Chimchar to its Pokéball and leaves.

"If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all..." Volo said as Meloetta and Togekiss look at their trainer.

Ash frowns "Volo..." Volo turns to Ash "Next time, I want to be the one who get to beat Paul"

Volo nods "I know you will" he responds as everyone sees Paul leaving.

With different battle styles, attitudes obviously worlds appart, as Volo gain a new friend in Meloetta, will Ash's vow to defeat Paul ever realize, stay tuned.
