that night when i made my way down to the pool for my daily hell-cleanup, i was delighted to see that the pool was completely clean.
literally, everything was all sparkly and shit and there wasn't even a single droplet of water around the pool. i never felt so glad in my entire life, god really must've been on my side today.
i checked the time. it was only 12:00. that meant i could head onto my last job for the day and then get two more hours of sleep than usual.
i basically skipped out of the building in happiness. i looked around for cars and bolted down the street.
as i passed one of the street lights, a hand popped out of nowhere and grabbed my wrist, yanking me back from paradise.
i whipped my head around, ready to throw hands. but when i saw nam joohyuk standing there, i grew confused.
"swimmer boy, are you stalking me?" i asked.
joohyuk looked at our hands and let go of mine, slightly brushing my wrist as if he left some kind of disease on it.
"i wasn't stalking, i was merely only making sure you were going back to your dorm." he said, like a strict mother he is. "yet, you're running off somewhere again."
i rolled my eyes. "and why do you care where i go?"
"well, i thought i deserved to know." joohyuk said, somewhat haughtily. "i cleaned the pool so you wouldn't have to, after all."
"that was you?" i asked, a smile slightly growing on my face. who knew hot swimmer boys could be so kind. maybe it's just this one, though.
joohyuk nodded.
"why?"
"because a lady shouldn't overwork herself."
"well this lady needs money, which is exactly why she is." i said.
"and why exactly?" joohyuk asked.
i pursed my lips and ignored his question. "i'm leaving, go back to your dorm before you get in trouble."
"not just yet." he grabbed my arm again. "where are you going at this time?"
"to my other part time job." i said plainly.
joohyuk's jaw dropped. "no wonder you passed out! you're overworking yourself!"
"and what does it mean to you?" i asked. i was getting kind of irritated by now.
joohyuk let out a "wow" of disbelief. "w-well, first of all, its kind of dangerous to be walking around and working at this hour, and second of all, it's even more dangerous when an athlete thinks sleeping two hours a day is completely normal, i'm just saying!!" he rambled on like he knew everything about it.
i stopped and looked at him in amusement. "hold on a second." i squinted at him and smirked. "perhaps, are you worried about me?
joohyuk acted like it was the most unbelievable thing he's ever heard. you'd think i just told him that there was a flying dinosaur eating the sidewalk behind him.
"i-it's just—agh fuck." he bit his lip and looked to the side. "i have nothing to say."
"okay, then i'll be on my way then darling." i said in a suave tone.
"waittttt." joohyuk caught up to me and walked beside me. "i'll just go with you then. i have nothing to do."
"you have nothing to do at 1 AM in the morning." i deadpanned. "sure."
"come on, appreciate my efforts here." he muttered.
i smiled at him. i found this swimmer boy quite charming. "fine, thank you."
it was even more charming when he tried so hard to not smile but ended up smiling like an idiot.
