What the hell did you wear to a battle and your  potential funeral?

That was the first thought that protruded Violet Uley's mind when she awoke the morning of the battle, her hair was matted to the side of her forehead from the never ending nervous sweats she had protruded throughout the night and her body felt sluggish from her three hour sleep. The night hadn't been well for anyone under the Uley household, while Vi had spent most of the night tossing and turning--mainly centering her mind on Emmett's whereabouts, there was Emily who for the majority of the night had cried, she was a tough women but even this would break the strongest.

Her fiancee and sister in law were about to go out and fight a war along with most of the reservations teenagers. How could that not have monstrous results?

Vi felt similarly to her best friend, hence the lack of sleep, now she impatiently stood in front of her dresser, not knowing what to wear? It was almost surreal to know she could be choosing her last change of clothes and these were the last moments she could treasure the small bedroom. Her fingers paused to trail the dark cherry woods of the dresser, her eyes looking around and catching the scattered clothes.

She scolded herself for not picking up the dirty shirts earlier, there was no time now and if she were to die soon she didn't want to pain Emily or her brother further by needing to pick up after her. How would they move on if she didn't make it out? Or worse, what if Sam didn't live and she was left to pick up the broken pieces caused by her. The brunette bit her bottom lip to prevent it from quivering and she went back to the task at hand, she could hear the chatter from below her floors. The wolves were arriving, probably for a quick bite to eat. Violet had to stop herself from thinking it could quite possibly be some of their and her own last meal.

"Why the hell do I not have any clothes suited for battle?" She sarcastically said aloud, only grasping at jean shorts until finally a black pair of thick leggings came into view. There wasn't much of another option and she had a feeling she was going to need to be flexible for the coming events so she quickly threw them on. Her dark eyes cast upon a black hoodie with an awkward looking hood that she had used for sports in the past. Since it was surprisingly cold out she threw on a tight black thermal underneath it before throwing on the hoodie.

Just as her arms slid the sweater over a knock sounded at her wooden door.

"Vi?" Jake's deep voice made her jump as her door barely opened and he stepped inside. Jake never knocked, not even before they had dated and certainly not during. She didn't mind though, she was use too it.

He carried two plates full with pancakes, eggs, and back and balanced a set of cups filled with Iced Tea in the other hand. Violet forced a smile to dance across he lips at her old friend. She finished pushing the sweater over her stomach before motioning him the rest of the way in.

"Jake whats this?" The brown eyed beauty questioned as she tied her hair into a tall ponytail.

"Wow you sure haven't changed, missing the clothes hamper and all." Jake commented, pointing to the discarded pair of pajama shorts at her feet.

Violet kicked them under her bed with her boot covered foot. "You're one to talk, when's the last time you actually did laundry?"

Jake pretended to think for a moment before shrugging his shoulders to which Violet laughed and watched him plop down on her unmade bed.

"So what are you doing here Jacob? Is this a bed and breakfast?" She questioned, sitting down and putting the loose strands of her baby hair behind her ear as he pushed a warm plate into her lap and handed her a cold cup.

"You didn't come downstairs for breakfast and knowing you its probably because you're running yourself crazy with the many scenes that could happen today, plus I could tell by those purple bags under your eyes that you've already over thought it all." Jake answered her, biting into a piece of bacon casually.

She rolled her eyes, he was right. She had caught a glance of herself in the mirror earlier and it had frightened the hell out of her. The change between a day was evident, there was a slight purple color underneath her eyes that barely shone against her olive toned skin however it would be Jacob to point it out to her. "Alright so maybe I have been driving myself a little nuts about it but can you blame me?"

Jake spoke through a full mouth of pancakes, "not really that's why I'm here. I'm going to make you forget about it for awhile with my awesome way of being your sunshine."

"Course you are Jacob." Violet snorted, biting into her food as her stomach growled. She hadn't even realized just how hungry she was, Jake was sort of right.

Jake swallowed the massive amount of food in his mouth before looking at her seriously, "one more thing before... stop calling me Jacob."

Violets eyebrow shot up at his surprising words, "what? Why?"

This time Jake actually seemed to give her question thought as his eyebrows knitted together for a short pause. "I don't like when you call me that, I'm always your Jake. You've always called me Jake and calling me Jacob scares me."

The female sincerely thought he was messing around until her eyes noticed the way his eyes meant every single word, instead of a humored smile crossing her lips it was a genuine one that appeared. "Alright then, you're my Jake."

Jake sent her right back a sincere smile, one she hadn't been on the receiving end of for quite some time.

The pair came down the stairs a short while later, there was no avoiding what would occur and it was better to face the devil head on then put it off. Jake and Violet came down the stairs to the eyes of their pack members who almost chocked on air to see no bad blood between them.

Vi wasn't chocking Jake and Jake wasn't keeping as far away from the fiery brunette as possible... it was a damn miracle.

No one said a thing, afraid to shatter the perfect illusion in front of them. Sam however stood from his spot next to Emily at the table, with one last longing look at the love of his life he nodded at the pack members.

"Violet, we have something that could benefit you." Sam spoke to his sister, motioning for her to follow the wolves.

The youngest Uley lifted her brows in confusion, what could help win this battle? She didn't suppose her ancestors had developed weapons to kill vampires other then shape shifting boys? All the teenagers going into battle followed the alpha, Jake letting Violet pass him as she walked out into the forest.

The girl followed her brothers retreating form into the woods, stopping when they were deep
enough into the forrest. She didn't want to ask what exactly her brother had planned because by the way Quil kept giving her worried glances it wasn't going to be pretty. She was stunned to see Leah had joined into the party but she supposed the female wolf had no other choice.

Her eyes travelled across the woods, noting the darkened sky. It was mid June and chances are it would rain soon, the weather seemed to match her mood.

"So? What's this big help you've offered?" Vi stared blankly at her brothers beau real face.

"Sue has been searching for ways to make this battle easier for you. Considering there isn't much to go on for a half wolf you can imagine how hard it was to find at least one thing that sounded remotely helpful." Sam began explaining. "There's one thing though... call it old folklore reimagined for our kind. The bite of a wolf... of an alpha shapeshifter could give you temporary abilities like us... but for you it might even heighten them and it could possibly even give you our ability to read one another's mind."

"So temporary wolf abilities on top of the ones I already have?" She asked in disbelief, her mind was slightly boggled. She knew what he said was a stretch, it had to be. Although the way all the wolves looked at her with serious expression it was obvious they meant business.

She sighed, groaning in annoyance. "Oh fuck... fine! Just give me the stupid bite already."

Sam nodded, looking to her side where Jacob stood who nodded his way and went into the wolves.

"Alpha by blood or pointed can do this. Jake volunteered." Sam explained to the girl when she looked at her brother in question. She nodded, listening to Jake quickly shift before his massive coffee brown wolf came waltzing back into the group.

The brunette couldn't deny her neves were getting the best of her. She knew this would hurt like hell, probably worse then anything she's ever felt and that included the night her powers surged through her body for the first time. If her brother thought it could help though she wasn't going to fight him over it.

Jacob nodded his head down at the girl.

"Sorry about this Vi," Seth spoke up, holding one of her arms down while Paul came over to her other arm.

"Fuck this is gonna hurt." Paul commented earning a pair of narrowed eyes at him from the girl.

"Let's just get this over with," she sighed in annoyance, "it'll heal right?"

Sam nodded, "seconds, although it will probably hurt."

Vi didn't give it another thought, lifting the arm of her sweater so the smooth skin of her arm was visible and Jake padded closer.

His teeth bared as Vi's breaths grew shorter. This would be over soon, she thought, hoping it to be quick.

Paul's scalding hot fingers wrapped themselves tightly around the brunette small wrist, keeping a boa like grip as he extended it out towards the wolf. The girl merely shutting her eyes as his teeth touched her skin and exhaled, relaxing her muscles as if by some miracle enough relaxation would sweep her body and keep the pain at bay.

But fuck was she wrong.

The bite itself was like a chainsaw had been taking to her thin arm, digging deeply into her bloodstream and severing the veins and muscles there. His teeth felt as if a searing hot needle had been stuck inside, burning away at the red blood cells.

Violet screamed, his mouth retreating sooner then thought and further adding pain as now it began soaring through her body. She screamed, dropping to the ground, taking Seth and Paul with her.

It felt as if every bone, small or grand, in her body was suddenly gaining mass and growing stronger. Like they were being covered with a layer of diamond, indestructible. Lava scorched over her face, through the entire top layer of her skin as power, real power, flowed into her muscles and tightened them.

"FUCK!" She was barely able to scream a coherent words as her skin sealed shut and all that was left was a trail of blood that they quickly wiped away while she continued to wither in pain. She had been right, it was worse then anything she had been through.

Her skin seemed to seal shut so no wounds appeared but inside her bloodstream was yelling in pain, no not yelling, it was screeching. She could feel her blood boiling as it spiked in temperature and her fingers dug into the soil, fisting inside the wet dirt as the last wave of pain and strength morphed to fit her body.

Her eyes snapped open, all at once the pain seizing as she heard, smelled, and felt everything. From earth to air, to the heavens above she could feel everything. The slightest of noises attuned to her sense.

"Violet?" Seth, who had bent over to comfort the girl in her torture, gained her attention. Her eyes casting towards her as he caught the distinctive change in color of her eyes, now they were a smoldering black. He could see the actual surge of power in her mind, like a god causing him to look away in fear.

"Can you hear us?"

"Vi?"

"V?"

"You alright?"

Vi stood up, testing the strength in her legs as she balanced perfectly on the balls of her feet. The newly formed brunette could hear everyone's halt of air, her eyes casting on the entire pack. Her mind was boggled, adjusting to the new senses forming around her. She could definitely see and hear better, she doubted a vampires strength would hold a candle to the one she now possessed.

"Let's go." She called out, turning on her heel without another word.

"Don't you want to make sure it worked?" Sam questioned her, her feet stopping at the end of his words.

Her head turned, staring right back to his questioning gaze with confidence and sinking her palm into the tree nearest her. It had a thick trunk, tall as hell but to the brunette it was like she had immersed her hand into butter as it easily went through. "Tested, it works."

"They're here." Alice warned them all, immediately the immense clatter of feet recognized themselves just as the last syllable left her lips.

Violet flickered her eyes between her brother, his black wolf nodding to her in recognition. Emmett's eyes were next, his golden iris's filled with nothing but anger and dominance to which she reciprocated. Without a word they were all set for battle.

"Remember Violet," Jaspers warning floated itself all the way towards the girl. "They'll be in a frenzy with your smell here. They'll be concentrated on nothing but getting to you."

And even though his words were meant for the petite girl it was like a flare was set off for every other vampire and werewolf. A reminder, not only were they playing defense but offense as well.

With that last thought roaming their minds the first of the newborns broke into the battle ground and the war commenced.

"Stay close Vi, guard up."

"Don't get yourself killed V."

The last one was from Jake, and as much as it seemed like a joke she knew he was taunting her. He was doing it on purpose, a benefit for the girl because this would fuel her rage. It was like setting the match to a tank full of gas.

It was explosive.

The ball of her foot dug into the ground before she was surging forward along with everyone else.

The first vampire she encountered brightened immediately, a cunning smirk dancing across her lips as she thought she had won the battle. She had the grand prize in front of her. The blonde vampire made a beeline for the girl, almost shaking with the need to drink her blood.

Violet smirked as she collided with the girl, dodging her teeth and sending her foot straight into the air with a swing kick. The distinctive crack of the girls neck was apparent as her foot broke the concrete like skin and her head flew right off.

One body to go and about two dozen more followed.

The next vampire she came into contact with raced right at her all before the former vampires body had dropped to the ground. Violet ran right at him as well, dropping to the ground at the very last second and skidding between his legs, just as she passed the last of his legs she lifted herself back up before the vampire could turn in her direction and snapped his head clean off. Leaving the bastard in confusion and death.

Her eyes roamed the war zone for a brief second, noticing Emmett taking down a vampire with a trial of dead bodies around him. Jake wasn't far off, a group of vampires ganging up on him as he ripped into another.

Violet still gripped the dead vampires head in her hand, without thinking she launched it at the vampire who had jumped into the air, ready to crush the wolfs head with a surprise attack. She hit the target exactly, hitting the vampire in the side of his head. Both heads broke apart, the vampire falling short of his destination as now he had half of a head.

Jake broke free of he last vampire, noticing what his best friend had done.

"Nice one V."

She nodded at him, not having a chance to respond as a vampire ran right into her from the corner of her eye. Vi landed on her back harshly, forcing herself not to notice the pain as she immediately sent her forearm to the vampires neck, holding her back from biting into her. Her other hand pulled into the vampires palms that had latched themselves around her neck and were crushing her windpipe. If she stayed in this position longer she would be losing the battle so she kicked free, sending them into a roll. Vi continuously kicked, punching the girls palms until one faltered as she found her target.

She decided to take the wolf approach and bit into the vampires neck, her strong teeth breaking the hard skin quickly until the head and body were detached.

She grinned in happiness, spitting out whatever was in her mouth and standing back up. Her eyes fell on Emmett who had the bigger of the groups of vampires attacking him. Violet didn't hesitate to run over.

She snarled as one wrapped her arms around Emmett's neck. The brunette jumped into the air from behind, grasping the vampire by the neck and yanking her down until she let go of an unwavering Emmett. Violet wrapped her forearm around the girl, snapping her head clean off.

She took on the next one who attempted to attack her from behind, punching it directly into the mouth so it flew into the nearest rock wall. It fell to the ground, Violet running over and sending her foot down like a hammer, breaking its face.

She turned back around to notice Emmett had broke free. The last of the bodies surrounding him, he smirked down at her handiwork and the look of pure destruction on her face. "Nice of you to join me darling. Care to finish this one with me?"

She raised an eyebrow at him, "not like you could finish without me baby."

Emmett smirked at her, winking quickly before running after her as she ran straight into the next bloodthirsty killer. This time however he was amazed to see her kick her foot onto the Boulder to gain height, wrapping her other leg around the vampires shoulders and then locking both legs into place. The vampire struggled with getting her off but Vi was already going in for the kill as she twisted her thighs at one angle quickly and snapped its neck along with pulling the head clean off. Over her head she watch as Emmett jumped and sent his fist into the vampire behind, breaking the face completely. Violet jumped off the dead vampire, standing and inspecting the battlefield.

There wasn't many vampires left, all of them were dying by the hands of a wolf or vampire. In fact, Jasper was finishing the last one as Vi cracked her neck.

"You okay?" Emmett immediately turned to look at her, his eyes running every inch of her skin to notice not a single cut or hair out of place.

"I just served the fuck out of these newborns, I'm fucking dandy." Violet answered him, sending him a soft smile. His eyes ran over her once more before nodding and lacing their fingers together.

Violet felt relief surge through her, her protective guard dropping as she knew the threat that had haunted her for weeks was gone and she could finally relax. It was time to go back to a reality she wanted to be apart of.

They walked over towards the wolves and vampire, Jasper's eyes trailing over them all. "We'll build a fire everyone else look for remaining newborns and bring all the body parts to the fire."

Emmett let her fingers go, swiftly sending a kiss to Vi's forehead before following his brother. Violet turned on her heel, going to search the edge of the Forrest with Jake by her side.

"It's over with."

Violet nodded in relief, "thank god and here I thought it was going to end much worse."

"Wasn't that hard..."

"No," Vi agreed. "It was almost too easy..."

She strained her ears to hear anything, even a faint smell of blood but nothing come to her sense so she continued to follow around the path. Going around the large Boulder at one of the edges as Jake sniffed the ground for a scent.

She didn't know why, call it fate, call it her damned life but her eyes trailed upwards. And she caught the very last vampire jumping straight for Jake.

"JAKE!" She screamed, launching herself into the air to save her best friend. She smacked right into the vampire, briefly catching Emmett screaming her name as well as the wolves rushing over.

All of that soon faded to black, because while her fists managed to smack the vampire clear in the face and her hands were close to sending the death blow the vampire had the advantage. It didn't waste the moment, biting at the base of her neck. Right where her collarbone and neck met its teeth sunk into and latched itself.

The burn from its venom left Violet with one last thought before life faded to black.

She had stood corrected... that was the worst pain she had ever encountered.
