"Vi?"

As if the moment couldn't get any worse, and it was pretty high up on the shit list considering Violet had never expected any of the last few hours occurrence she had unknowingly subjected herself to the worst possible game of "Meet the Family."

Emmett had shook the much small girl, shaking her shoulders slightly and shifting the bags from one hand to the other in order to speak with her. She was freaking the hell out.

The Cullens couldn't resist but let out a tiny smile at the teenager, she had just been yelling without a care in the world and now she seemed to be as still as a statue, Jasper sensing the rapid change of emotions happening in her. He decided to help the girl out, liking the fiery personality inside her and already sensing the friendship that would happen between Alice and the Uley girl.

Violet began to come to term with reality, a cooling feeling spreading under her hot skin and letting the long held breath of air to relief.

"Uhmm hey? Sorry about the yelling?" She managed to speak out, deciding that it might be best for her to break the tension with a joke. She hadn't ever actually met someones parents, ever friend she had ever made were from childhood and even when she started dating Jacob she had known his father and sister so it had been natural.

This however was far from easygoing. Ever since Sam had turned and she had gained power all she ever heard was how terrible vampires actually were and then when Bella had come into their lives and visibly shifted much tension between the pack Vi had loathed them even more. Now however it was different, much different considering she had imprinted on the tall man grinning behind her.

She spoke and the tension broke, the first of them, Alice, approaching her using the werewolf strength she had and grinning. All before she could blink Alice was pulling her into a tight hug, her pale arms crushing the girl and her chips forward.

"It's so nice to meet!" The lyrical words came rushing out of Alice's mouth, pulling back rapidly to notice Violets surprised smile. "I've been dying to meet you and Emmett's told us so much about you already! He wouldn't let me upstairs to meet you and I was getting anxious!"

"Sorry?" Violet was barely able to get a word in edgewise as the petite, fairy like girl spoke rapidly.

"Oh no worries! You're here finally! We have so much to do! We can hang out now and I can dress you up! Emmett you should have told me you all were going out so I could have given her actual pants!" Alice continued to ramble, her face slightly dropping when she noticed the bag of chips Violet had been holding were crushed when she pulled her into the hug. "Oh I'm so sorry! I broke the chips in your bag-"

For an unknown reason Violet had already liked the girl the moment she began rambling, it was odd considering she wasn't even sure if she liked Emmett but Alice was certainly growing on her. She shot her arm out, placing a palm on Alice's shoulder and shrugged her own casually. A natural grin plastered on her face as to show the girl there was no bad blood between them. "Hey, no worries. Polar bear has like 6 more in his hands... besides I kind of liked them crushed this way."

"Polar bear..." Alice restated the nickname. Her golden eyes flickering up to Emmett's lazy smirk as the tan brunette proceeded to dump the contents of the bag into her mouth. "I like you already. And you don't smell like a wolf... a bonus."

Violet nodded at the girl, already knowing that she never had been cursed to smell like wet dog. She had been told numerous times in the past by her pack members this very thing, in fact she was told her scent lingered with nature and changed with the seasons. Her eyes noted the blonde man with curly hair who came to stand next to Alice, a thin smile on his lips.

"Hello Violet, it's nice to meet you," He said. "And its also nice to know you smell nothing like a human."

She shot an eyebrow up at the comment, wondering just what he meant but Alice beat her to the punch. "Jasper is the newest addition to the coven, he's had some trouble in the past with his thirst."

Violet nodded, understanding then what he meant. A tight lipped smile appeared on her lips as she nodded, "okay then. It's actually just Vi, I kind of hate my name but its nice to know. I won't need to keep my guard up Jasper... even though you probably wouldn't be able to."

Jasper smiled at the girl, smirking. "I might have to bet you on that."

Violet snorted, "If the Joly giant behind me couldn't take me I think my odds are good."

"Emmett and you really were meant for one another, both cocky," Alice spoke up, rolling her eyes.

They all laughed, Emmett stepping forward with a roll of his eyes and a huff," alright then. Let's keep this moving before she actually starts pulling out moves. And I could so take you."

Violet rolled her eyes but nodded, going to look at the next couple that come to introduce themselves. There was a women who was clearly the mother here, she just had the warmest smile and even her eyes were filled with nothing but kindness. She came forward and hugged the teen girl, "hello Vi. I'm Esme, I guess you could say I'm Emmett's mother. I'm so happy there finally is someone to boss him around.

Violet broke out into a smile even though Esme's words made her somewhat nervous. She should have been acting like a mess and seeing as how her whole world was turned upside down but she was surprisingly warm and comfortable, albeit Esme's words slightly deterred her mood. Esme seemed hopeful, like fate was already decided. She had no clue just how complicated their lives were.

"It's great to meet you too," She decided to answer back, ignoring the last of her sentence. If it were possible she could feel Emmett's presence behind her even more, his stature looming over the tan brunette. Emmett was nervous beyond belief when Esme spoke, holding his breath as Violet calmly answered back.

He knew Jasper had a certain part in Violets suave demeanors but there was certain part of him that did in fact hope she was doing well with all of this.

Esme smiled fondly at the girl, her heart warming when noting the mesmerized gaze her biggest of sons gave the women he would potentially fall in love with. She took a small step back and grabbed Carlisle's hand once more.

"Violet this is my adoptive father Carlisle," he introduced the blonde man to the brunette half wolf.

Carlisle stretched his lips into a handsome face, Violet noting just how beautiful they all were, it was almost intimating. She plastered a smile on her face, meeting his outstretched hands and shaking it. Her naturally warm fingers met his cool ones and she resisted the urge to crying at the low temperature.

"It's a pleasure to formally meet you... all the other times have been under rather tense circumstances," he answered kindly.

Violet couldn't hold back the snort," tell me about it. Us wolves are kind of short tempered, but it's finally nice to meet all of you too."

"Yes, well we can only hope for it to be one of the last," he minutes back after everyone's quick laugh.

"Will just see how well Emmett is at following my orders won't we," she retorted, looking up at said burly man.

The Cullens laughed at her joke, whatever was left of tension breaking as Violet turned around to meet Emmett's gaze finally and either of them laughing.

"So, I guess that wasn't so bad," she laughed. "No coffins or torture chambers... Jasper hasn't jumped for my jugular or I haven't wolfed out on Emmett once... I call that a home run."

Emmett couldn't help but bark out in laughter, rolling his eyes at the petite brunette who eyed him. "You're so optimistic Vi."

She rolled her eyes at him, her eyes briefly glancing around their pale faces before her eyebrows creased. "Wait a minute... where the broody? You know... tall, dark, and not so handsome."

Jasper rolled his eyes at her, Alice stifling a laugh while Emmett sighed heavily," Edwards out of town with Bella."

"No wonder there's less depression in this place," she commented. "You guys must be the one of the party. Perfect, we will get right along."

Alice stepped forward, grasping her hand quickly before Emmett could stop her. "On that note I have tons of clothes that could fit you and since you've got Doritos stains on your shorts it's time for new ones."

Vi looked down, catching sight of the bright colored chip stuck to her shorts, her tan fingers flicked at it, the small piece flying off to reveal nothing underneath. "Oh nope, it's just a piece of leftover food."

Emmett shook his head as Alice began to drag her away. "It's too late Vi! Have fun with the rest of your night."

"Wait!" She gasped. "Alice can I at least grab my other bag of chips?"

The weekend at the Cullen's was surprisingly filled with entertainment. Alice kept her busy with piles of clothes, most of which Violet wasn't entirely opposed to. The vampire had nice taste and the girl even had the pair of boots Violet had desperately wanted in Seattle. Jasper was good banter, he took Vi's side many times when she teased Emmett and he also let her in on his special trick. She was slightly pissed at him over it but she actually preferred to feel nothing over the constant worry of her family and knowing he stopped her from having a mental breakdown every time she heard a wolf howl was a bonus. Esme was nice, she was kind and caring, Vi could see why she was the mother of the coven, she could share a special bond with anyone. There was Carlisle who always answered her questions, the brunette was intrigued with the life of the ER doctor, seeing as how that's what she had gone to school for. He even offered to take her on a tour of the hospital when she wanted to which Violet had happily obliged.

And then there was the very reason she was there, Emmett Cullen had been entirely different to what she had imagined him to be, he was quiet and thoughtful whenever the two were alone. Sure he made wise cracks and sassed but the boy was careful around her, constantly asking if she was okay. He let her be when she needed space and always saved her when Alice got overbearing, he knew just what type of food she craved and when to bring it to her. She hated to say it but he was quite possible perfect.

The door to Emmett's room, well now Violets, opened and in stepped the "Polar Bear" himself. His darkening eyes looked for Violet the moment he was inside, noting her sprawled across the bed and reading a book.

"Oh!" He quickly turned back around, noticing how her tanned legs were in full display and the only thing covering her up was the long knitted sweater. "I'm sorry! I should have knocked!"

Violet looked up, brown eyes finding him embarrassed beyond belief. She half smiled, answering," I'm wearing shorts Em, chill."

She sat up, pulling her black shorts down as he turned to face her. A shy grin on his lips as he stepped inside, shutting the door and noting Alice's soft laugh from somewhere down the hall.

"I'm sorry, you just looked really peaceful, I was wondering if I could actually catch the game in here. Carlisle says I get to loud and he's trying to focus on work? Would you mind?" He questioned, trying to keep his eyes on her perfectly aligned face instead of her long legs. They looked so soft, like silk.

She sighed, shutting the book and staring at him with her almond shaped eyes. "Sure, what are we talking about? Football? You a Seahawks fan? 49ers? Please tell me you're not a raiders fan... Basketball? Wizards? Trailblazers? Warriors?"

"You know sports?" He gasped out, blinking rapidly.

Violet couldn't help but scoff, "what the hell does that mean? Of course I know sports! Contrary to popular beliefs all girls don't just sit around and paint their nails! I mean sure I've spent the last couple of days playing princess with Alice but I spent most of my childhood screaming at the top of my lungs."

While she ranted Emmett's breathing only sped up, noting how much he loved to see her riled up. She was fucking pissed, that much was obvious but she was also headstrong and passionate. Emmett also felt inclined to kiss the girl when she explained her passion for sports.

"EMMETT!" She yelled, gaining his attention back. Her hand was placed on her hip and her lips were pressed together.

"Nothing! I meant nothing! Are we going to watch the game?" He quickly answered her.

She nodded, grabbing the remote control and tossing it to him before walking off into the ensuite bathroom and closet. "I'm changing, go ahead and get comfy! I'll probably go get some chips or something before I sit down."

Emmett smirked at her retreating figure, noting the gleam her lean legs gaze off as she walked away. In a blink of an eye he had turned the tv in and ran downstairs to grab the only bag of chips the girl had left. She seemed to life off junk food, which amazed Emmett further. All before Violet was even done he had brought her favorite food upstairs and taken his shoes off to watch the game comfortably.

Violet came back in, her eyes brushing over the food he had kindly brought her. She smiled at him, jumping onto the high bed and getting comfy from her end as Emmett also leaned deeper into his side. The California king sized bed left almost an entire yard of space between them, each person looking at the other secretly. It was strange, the magnetic pull between them was almost painful to ignore but they both fought it. The entire weekend neither had so much as made a pass at the other, Emmett not once flirting with her.

Without words both of them had decided to take it slow and first deal with the crisis at hand, which hadn't even been discussed since the very day it had occurred. They lived inside their own bubble, learning about one another for the most part. The Cullens giving them their own space although often times the pair were up on the roof discussing heir lives late at night.

Now, as light surrounded the room neither knew what to do to break the ice.

"So..." Violet spoke up as they waited for the game to start. "The boring one came back this morning right? I heard you fighting with him."

Emmett nodded, having hoped she was asleep but the girl had ears like a hawk. "Yeah, he will get over it.

"He doesn't want me around Bella... that's cool I guess. I don't want to be around her either, or him for that matter. I like you, and the rest of your family has grown on me but I won't make you choose." Her tone was soft, gentle. Violet didn't want to wreck the relationships, she didn't want to cause anymore trouble then necessary.

"Edward chose Bella, I chose you just like you chose me." The magnitude of his words struck the half wolf, sending shock waves through the girl. She didn't expect him to ever say that, no one had ever chosen her first. Sure she had Sam, she always had Sam but no one had ever chosen her. Not her parents and not Jake.

Violet smiled, warmth flooding her chest as she continued to stare at Emmett.

"What does this mean then?" She said after a moment of silence.

"Well I'm hoping it means I can get closer to you on this bed," Emmett joked. "Maybe even kiss you."

Violet giggled, patting the spot next to her," easy there polar bear. You can come sit next to me."

Emmett didn't was a second, jumping over the lush bed until he was close enough to feel the warmth from her body. If it were possible his heart was beating rapidly again this ribs, Emmett's fingertips buzzing with excitement to grab her smooth skin and run his fingers over it all. He wanted nothing but Violet Uley in that moment.

Which is precisely the moment that Edward Cullen decided to show up," you need to go back to La Push."
