"You have no idea how much I missed you."
Emily Young spoke to her future sister-in-law, smiling beautifully as Vi ate her bowl of cereal atop the kitchen counter. Her long, tan legs swung back and forth in her pajama bottoms.
"All that testosterone getting to you?" Vi laughed, referring to the loads of young boys constantly going in and out there home.
Emily flipped a pancake, her brown eyes trailing towards the oven every few seconds. She giggled along with the younger girl, nodding, "well yes. I can only take so much ninja turtles cartoons before I actually wolf out on someone."
Violet snorted with laughter, tilting her head back and cupping her mouth so the mouthful of milk wouldn't fall out. These girly antics she had with Emily were most certainly one of her best memories. It was lonely up in Seattle and she couldn't spend every waking moment on the phone with her family.
There laughter died down, Emily placing another pancake atop the stack she had already done.
Violet noted the small sadness behind Emily's eyes, one she had seen in the past and knew exactly why. She hoped down from the counter, setting her bowl in the sink and sighing," she's still not talking to you?"
"Can't blame her," Emily shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know how to fix it."
Violet pursed her lips, clamping a hand gently on her shoulders. "I would talk to her but you know we kind of don't get along. Family always reconciles though, one day, maybe not in the near future, but one day she will move on. She knows how happy you and Sam are."
Emily sighs, shaking away the tears that threaten to spill while Violet pursed her lips. It was no secret that her brothers former fiancée and Vi never got along. She knew however that Leah made her brother happy so she shut up most of the time about it. Leah wasn't the easiest person to get along with, unlike Seth her younger brother, but Violet put in efforts often times. When the imprint went down and Leah wasn't it Violet felt pity for the girl. Her own cousin had been the one instead of her.
Since Leah had turned it had become even worse for the girl, her temper was always up and she was constantly snapping at everyone. It was either snapping at one of the boys or Sam, even Emily most days although often time Violet did stand up to her and that would lead to even nastier fights. Violet didn't see why she kept coming around but she guessed it was for the pack, even though she knew most of the boys hated her. She was the only one ballsy enough to actually give Leah shit back though, ironically enough, and that often meant that Leah and her would go tumbling through the woods.
If Violet had to guess another reason her brother had sent her off to Seattle it was because he knew they were one snap away from killing one another. Violet hadn't seen her since she arrived back in town but she had a feeling her moment would come soon. Secretly Violet was hoping for another tussle if she was being honest, she had a lot of pent out anger.
"Need some help with the eggs?" Vi asked her best friend, changing the subject rather abruptly. It was getting close to mid morning which meant the boys would be here hungry as all hell.
"Yes please," Emily nodded, pointing towards the one empty stovetop. "Do it there and quickly."
Violet nodded, pulling her hair into a ponytail and setting to work, cracking the mounds eggs. Emily only trusted her with a few small tasks since she claimed to find pride in her food so whenever Vi got the chance to do something she was always up for it. She had just poured the last egg into the large pan and was ready to scramble them up when the sliding glass door interrupted the soft music playing.
"Vi?" A voice spoke up, Violet tensing and gripping the pan a little tighter. She turned rigidly, looking at her former boyfriend with a narrowed glare. She hadn't spoken to Jake in days, not since breaking his nose, and she was dreading the moment.
"Jake," she nodded her head. Crossing her arms, her voice was strained and even though Jake knew it was a bad idea he still stepped forward. Emily briefly glancing at him as she took the hot skillet from Violets hands. She didn't like to get in between Violets love life but she had been there to witness the many times Vi had broken down because of the tall boy standing in the doorway and to that she was slightly bitter. She had to give her sister-in-law props though, the girl had made progress, by now the old Vi would have thrown the hot skillet at his head and then gotten pissed over the spilled eggs.
"Can we talk?" Jake finally asked, his mouth dry with nerves.
Vi licked her lips, contemplating her options. For some reason it felt like she was cheating on Emmett, but they had only known one another for a few weeks and even then, they hadn't seen each other since the first day. Sure they had a bond, the imprint between one another but that didn't justify her feelings of betrayal. She swallowed down the feeling, looking at Emily who nodded.
"I got this." Emily briefly mumbled back and went back to multitasking.
Violet sighed, knowing it was best if she talked to the boy." Just let me get out of my pajamas."

Violet had pourpusely taken her time changing, pacing in her room for a few minutes when she had already changed. She had taken her time to think about where this could go, constantly reminding herself that this wasn't cheating on Emmett Cullen, he wasn't her boyfriend.
Once she had stepped out and they had taken a short walk into the woods, Jacob trailing slightly behind her and letting the smaller brunette lead the way, she had turned back to him. The tall woods around them giving the teenagers a slight amount of shade.
"So? What did you talk about?" She spoke up first, leaning against one of the few rocks.
"I just wanted to see if you were okay after the whole thing in Seattle? We've been trying to find some scent or a lead but there isn't one," Jake spoke up. His heart heavy for his former girlfriend, sure he had fallen for Bella but he cared deeply for the Uley girl. She had been his best friend for many years, it wasn't easy loosing someone like that. When he had been told just what had happened to her he almost felt responsible for leading her to that.
"Yeah, I know. That's kind of the reason Sam barely lets me out of the reservation," She mumbled back, digging her hands into her warm jacket.
"My nose healed," Jake points out, coming up blank in topics of conversation.
"I'm so sorry for breaking it in the first place," She sarcastically answered back. An eye roll followed before she shrugged and bluntly stated," you had it coming though."
"I actually wanted to talk to you about that actually," Jake nodded. "Since your back are things going to be weird between us? I don't want to make it harder for you if it is. I can stay away if you want or we can put this thing behind us?"
"Woah," Violet cutting him off, a flame of anger rising in her. "Did you just reference our break up, you falling in love with Bella Swan, and my heartbreak a thing? Jake I don't think you have an idea the shit I went through! You don't want to make it hard for me? It was hard every fucking day! I had to look you in the face and be okay smelling her on you, watching your eyes and knowing every thought you had was for her! Do you have an idea how hard that was!"
She didn't realize the past tense she used, or even the way she said it like she was reflecting. The pain was still very real every time she thought about it but that's all it was, a past thought.
Jake noticed though, his heart spiked with pain as she spoke but one thing stuck out to him. His feet faltered for a moment, "was?"
Violet pursed her lips, thinking back to her words and realizing that she was right. "Yes, was. I don't feel that way anymore, I just need you to understand that what you did to me was hurtful but I've moved on... so no. You want make it harder for me."
"Since when?" Jake asked softly, his eyes trying to decipher what was going on being them. He didn't know her eyes any longer though, he didn't know this Violet. The one that had grown, the one that had changed her life for the better.
"Since Seattle," she answered, "I don't love you anymore Jake. I did hate you but I'm done with it. Hates draining and I'd much rather move on. I'm going on a run, tell Sam I'll be home soon."
"He won't want you out there," Jake called back to her. His mind was still reeling with this new Violet, the fearless girl.
She shrugged her shoulders, long wavy hair tossing around her as she turned her back and went in the opposite direction. "I've followed the rules long enough I believe."

So maybe she had ran to the border between forks and la push, and maybe she was currently running up it without a thought in the world. Vi however had not ran that way to hopefully see Emmett, in her defense, her favorite stream was the boarder. She paced it silently, coming to terms with her hearts realization, she was no longer in love with Jacob.
In truth, it came with a freedom and weight in her shoulders. She no longer loved Jake, which meant she didn't feel the increasing pain that came with seeing him fall for someone else but she knew it was because of Emmett. The imprint was taking its effect, which meant she would soon need to be near him. A growl escaped her lips for a short second when thinking of this. She hated love, she didn't want to be tied down any longer.
Vi kicked at the small pebbles along the stream, plotting ways to fix her life when a whoosh crossed her ears. She stilled for a moment, clenching her fists and turning.
A red haired women stood a few yards from her, red eyes staring right back at the tan brunette.
"You're her," Violet spoke, feeling her calves tense and prep to run. The women's scent was strong and unknown, clearly a vampire, which meant the wolves would be far behind. She just needed to stay alive long enough for them to catch up. She had no clue how to kill a vampire in her human form, only the wolves knew how to do that. She was fast though, about as fast as wolves which meant she could outrun her.
"Violet Uley," she spoke, her mouth twisting in a sadistic smirk. "You're a wolf girl, but you don't smell like them. You don't smell human or vampire either, which means your something far different."
"Why does that matter so much to you," she questioned, pursing her lips and containing her erratic heart.
"That doesn't matter much to me," she answered back. "What matters is your importance. Your family killed my friend Laurant, and you're allies killed my mate. I want revenge, I want Bella Swan and you, Violet Uley."
"You won't be able to touch me," Vi answered, hissing at the way she smirked back like it would be an easy challenge.
The half wolf didn't hesitate to turn and use all her wolf speed, running down the middle. She desperately waited for the wolves to run, for one of them to find her. Violet continued running, feeling the redhead feet behind her. It didn't take much longer for the patter of feet to make her sigh in relief. Although it wasn't just her wolves coming after the vampire, the Cullens were near. She was the bait now, which meant it was time to get out of here safely.
On either side of her, werewolves and vampires kept up. Her plan was to run straight into werewolf territory, probably knock down a few trees as she tumbled down, and let one of the groups catch her. Unfortunately, she didn't expect Emmett to take action before she could.
As she went to leap straight in the air, Emmett jumped, wrapping his arms around her tightly so she was secured into his chest. They hit the nearest ground, Violet not even having a scratch as they continued to role.
Jake, who was currently right behind Sam and eyes locked on keeping Violet safe, saw this as a threat. He jumped right after Emmett, landing near the vampire who continued to tumble. Without a moments hesitation he clamped his teeth around Emmett's arm and threw him off the tan girl. Emmett stood right back up, landing on his feet and getting ready to defend his mate. Violet however had already felt her imprint pull, feeling the ferocious need to protect what was hers.
One moment she was laying face down, cradled by Emmett, and the next she had already stood. Her hands dug into Jakes wolf form, throwing him against one of the trees and growling loudly. She crouched in front of Emmett who was momentarily stunned as all the Cullen's were. The wolves, who were quick to defend her from the vampires stilled. All of them watching the protective gaze in the girls eyes. Her jaw was tensed and fists tightened at her side while her eyes glowed more then ever with the vibrant onyx and gold.
Victoria saw the leverage there, with a smirk she took the momentary distraction and ran right past them. Everyone far too concerned with the situation at hand to care.
Sam's black wolf stepped forward, a rumbling lifting from his chest as Jake also stood and shook the dirt off. He had never seen the girl use so much strength. She was strong, practically as strong as a fully changed wolf but that wasn't wolf strength she used, it was entirely different.
Every wolf couldn't form a single word in their head, far too stunned. She growled at them,
It wasn't until Emmett crept closer to his mate, wrapping his large palm around her tightened fist did everyone of them know.
Violet Uley had imprinted on Emmett Cullen, a vampire.
