Chapter 7
Heyo! I hope y'all enjoy this chapter! Thank you to all of ya reading this! Anyways, the song above is Be Prepared by Man on the Internet!
Just before Izuku reached Ground Beta, he tugged on his mental connection to his Orbiter, and to Aegis, silently demanding his Operator's Suit to be transferred to him for immediate use.
And, in a familiar flash of neon blue, Izuku's form was doused in light which shifted into reality as a suit.
(A/N- This is what his suit looks like!)
Sealing with a hiss, Izuku locked his mask in place as his sole eye looked over his form, the gleaming silver of his outfit standing out against the black leather and Izuku nodded in satisfaction. On his wrist, Izuku's Amp hummed as it clicked alive, ready to dive into action, thrumming for a fight.
With an air of nonchalance, Izuku walked into Ground Beta, eye locking onto All Might, studying the Number One hero as said hero shuffled nervously. Pitying the man, Izuku looked to the side, his analytical eye taking in the city around him, scenarios and plans hidden within more plans sprouted into his mind as he waited for his class to arrive.
It took them 15 more minutes for the dregs to start appearing.
Izuku nipped his ear, a particular itch annoying him as he watched his class appear from the black abyss that led out of the arena, his mind nitpicking his classmates' suits apart like a frog being dissected during science class. Many of their suits were terrible.
If the frog-like girl shuddered at Izuku's analogy, well, he never noticed...
But, who was he to decide their suits? He was a nobody, a shadow, and they were individuals with their own choices, even if those choices were stupid choices. Seriously, who in their right mind would wear an adult diaper as a Hero costume?
A pervert, apparently, a very... simple-minded pervert.
"Welcome Class 1-A to Heroics 101! I AM HERE! To teach you all how to be heroes!" Izuku blinked slowly at the grandiose showboating, listening as the hero continued.
"Now! Our first lesson, as I said before, will be a Mock Battle Simulation!" Out of the blue, a rigid voice called out;
"Sir! I notice this site appears to be like one of the cities from the Entrance Exam! Will this be like an Urban battle?" All Might grinned at the armoured teen.
"No my boy! Most villains on the news are fought outside, like this cityscape! BUT!" The hero held up his finger and shook it.
"Statistically? The most run-ins Heroes have with truly bad villains will be indoors! Such as underground organisations, massive villainous syndicates and the likes! The intelligent villains will hide in the shadows, biding their time! NOW!" A croaky voice interrupted All Might.
"All Might sir, what about Training?" All Might smiled brightly.
"I believe in training on the job! With that in mind, I will explain the scenario!" Izuku took a second, his mind unable to comprehend the man in front of him, as the Number One Hero of Japan, Symbol of Peace, pulled out a thick stack of... Cue Cards, and ran his blue eyes over them nervously before booming out.
"Right! The situation is as follows, in a randomly selected building a team of two, The Villains, will be hiding within! Their task is to successfully hid a bomb for 10 minutes or capture the Heroes! The other team, The Heroes, will be tasked with either retrieving the Bomb, or capturing the Villains!" All Might looked over the class before he asked,
"Any questions?"
That simple question opened the floodgate for the class as they threw questions out like darts at All Might.
"How will the winners be decided?"
"Can we blow the other team apart!?"
"What are the rules?!"
"Will there be punishments like with Mr. Aizawa?"
"Is my cape magnifique?"
Amused, Izuku smirked under his mask as All Might panicked before he shouted, quite loudly.
"Ah! My quirk's Super Strength, not super hearing! Haha! One question at a time please!" The blue haired boy, Izuku hadn't learned his name yet, raised his hand, but didn't wait to be asked and called out.
"All Might Sir! How will teams be selected?!" The boy chopped his arms robotically as he asked his question. What an odd quirk.
"Teams will be selected with... THIS!" From nowhere, All Might pulled a box, with Lots written on the front, out and held it in his massive hands.
"Why would we use random selection to determine teams?!" The blue haired boy demanded, his face stern. However, before All Might could answer, a sweet voice called from the side.
"It's to make sure the teams are properly randomised." And Izuku added on.
"Heroes can't pick and choose their partners in the field. It'll be completely random who they're partnered with, so All Might wants the same for us." All Might positively beamed.
"Well done, Young Yaoyorozu and Young Giichi!"
"Ah I see! Forgive me, Sir!" All Might spins around, saluting nothing and shouted.
"Don't worry about it! LET'S DRAW!!"
Team A- Sero Hanta and Shoji Mezo
Team B- Katsuki Bakugo and Eijiro Kirishima
Team C- Momo Yaoyorozu and Toru Hagakure
Team D- Tsuyu Asui and Keisuke Giichi
Team E- Mina Ashido and Yuga Aoyama
Team F- Tenya Iida and Kyoka Jiro
Team G- Fumikage Tokoyami and Mashirao Ojiro
Team H- Ochaco Uraraka and Minoru Mineta
Team I- Denki Kaminari and Koji Koda
Team J- Shoto Todoroki and Rikido Sato
"Giichi?" Izuku turned, looking for the person calling his fake name, and looked down to see a girl, her features twisted from human into a human-frog hybrid of sorts. A Mutation quirk, then.
"Yeah, and Asui, I assume?" The girl froze, then tilted her head.
"Please call me Tsu." Izuku nodded sharply.
Patiently, Izuku and Tsu waited for All Might to place the teams back into the drawing box, ready to choose which teams would face off against each other in combat.
"And the first team up will be...!"
Izuku watched as two balls appeared, with bold white letters on them, and the teams were decided: Team G vs Team F
"Team G, Young Tokoyami, who will be the Villains, and Ojiro vs Team F, Young Iida and Young Jiro, who will be the Heroes!"
Izuku stroked his chin in thought; the teams were fairly balanced, Team G had a powerful quirk user and a great hand to hand combatant, and Team F had a useful support/detection quirk and a high mobility quirk.
Team G had power on their side and full knowledge of the building and time to build a defence, but Team F had pinpoint accuracy and speed; and it was speed which would be the deciding factor.
"Now! If the teams will make your way down to the arena! Villains will have an extra 15 minutes before the Heroes can enter!"
As the teams left, the rest of the class were herded like cattle into a small dark room, a command centre, with a collection of screens within. This was where they would spectate from then, Izuku guessed.
Quietly, the class conversed, each wondering what the experience will be like, and some still buzzing about All Might. But Izuku, he kept his sole eye on the screen, drinking in the details of the battlefield, his veteran eyes, or eye, picking out points of vantage, opportunities, choke points and defensible locations.
A full 10 story commercial building with a huge amount of open windows, little coverage; not a good place for defence, it was too easy both in and out, due to its commercial status, after all, people had to be evacuated fast in case of a fire. An open roof top, at least 4 fire exits, and 3 entrances/exits.
The villains would find it near impossible to defend, against Tenno that is, but against two ground locked, wet behind the ear heroes? They had a chance if they could keep their positions hidden along with the objective.
However, with Jiro, that chance was pretty low, their advantage would soon be null, as soon as the heroine locked onto their location. And Iida with his speed quirk could easily rush in, if not hindered by the villains.
His performance at the exams, however, spoke of prior training by an experienced mentor, meaning he could possibly have greater control than all three of his comrades.
Dark Shadow however, was a wild card to be sure, that quirk was unstable and held great power within. Who knows how the quirk would act within battle; Sentient quirks are notoriously hard to control.
Tokoyami showed he could control the shadow to an extent, but said shadow was also sentient, meaning thought and choice. Two minds, one body, and trust was clearly low between the two; perhaps Tokoyami has yet to accept his quirk?
Ojiro also had proper formal training in martial arts, mixed by the looks of it, with hints of Karate, Judo and Aikido. Not conditioned training like Iida, but combat oriented training, and while skilled, was his downfall.
Izuku had studied his movements during the Quirk Assessment. They were too basic, all heavily kept within the confines of rules that are followed in the practice ring. He was predictable in the worst possible way, and anyone studying the same movements would recognise them.
Jiro was an all rounder, really, she was decently powerful with a useful and versatile quirk, but she lacked the experience and knowledge to wield it to its full potential; Her main weakness would be filtering out all the useless information her ears pick up. Sensory Overloading would be terrible for her if she couldn't filter what she needed.
In Izuku's opinion, the teams had a fair match; neither was more or less powerful than the other. It would be a battle of wit, determination and skill.
"Hero Team! The 10 minutes are up! You may enter! The Match has begun!"
Leaning in, Izuku peered at the hero team, eye watching closely as Jiro stabbed her ear jack into the concrete, taking in her slightly pained expression; Ah, her ears, she hasn't reinforced them, meaning they are weaker than the average metal.
Well, it didn't matter anyway, seeing as she had the information and had relayed it to Iida.
On the top floor, the furthest room; that was where the villains had holed up; they had barred the door, and... taken out the light bulbs in the corridor?
What an odd thing to do, the entire hall was in pitch darkness, meaning they wouldn't know if the heroes were near, and the heroes would know where they were without Jiro.
A black corridor stood out in a fully lit building like a sore thumb.
"Why have the villains taken out the bulbs in the corridor?"
It was a fair question, and one which nobody had an answer for until Bakugou angrily pointed out.
"Bird Brains got a shadow quirk ain't he? Darkness is when his quirk's more powerful huh?" Izuku nodded thoughtfully.
Shadow based quirks were stronger in darkness, it was a proven fact, an outstanding move on the Villain's part.
'That's true and made sense.' Izuku thought mentally; Bakugou, for all his gruff and tough exterior, hid a brilliant tactical mind and battle genius. The class all hummed and murmured.
"Oh that's a good point."
"I agree, I hadn't thought of that."
Suddenly, in a blast of speed, Iida shot off, his engines firing as he bolted through the building, heading right towards the room the villains hid in at super speed, Izuku watching as Jiro jogged in, clearly irritated with her teammate.
It took a minute for Iida to reach the black corridor, and Izuku reeled back as he felt the Void as it curled and bent and engulfed the corridor.
*Ba-BOOM!*
*Ba-BOOM!*
*Ba-BOOM!*
Like a beating heart, the Void pumped in its vile and sweet energy into the corridor, and the thing that lurked in the shadows drank it in as a dehydrated man would with water.
6 Glowing ethereal eyes lit the hall, where only two shiny yellow eyes had been, now a bright neon blue as they glowed with untold power. Its once dark purple body inflated and twisted from an incorporeal cloud form to a viscous black ooze highlight with shades of blues and whites.
This wasn't a training exercise anymore...
It would be a slaughter...
(How are ya?)
