Chapter Nine
[Taehyung]
The graveyard is empty when I arrive, after all, it is 4 AM in the morning.
I was hoping there'd be some fog- that I'd walk into a sea of white mist, with the tops of the headstones just peeking out.
It would've made a really apt atmosphere. Instead, it's just an average cloudy day.
I occupy myself by walking up and down the rows of graves, looking for a particular one, I try not to visualize the state of the bodies, trying not to think that soon, I'll be like them.
The headstones vary in size and colour; moss covers the full name on a low white marble one, so it just reads 'Rest In Peace'.
I crouch down beside it, feeling a drop of water fall onto my nose.
I look up into the grey sky; it's a lot darker now, the clouds looking fit to burst any moment.
Still no fog, unfortunately.
But the looming rain does have a slightly ominous feel.
Fixing my gaze back to the grave, I lightly trace my fingertips over it, warm tears gathering up in my eyes.
I breathe heavily, in and out, clutching a single white rose against my chest.
It's been years since I've been here and the tears finally burst, pouring down my cheeks, I say "W-why did you leave m-me?"
"You said you'll be there for me, forever, WHY?!" I cry, letting all my bottled up feelings out, anger and sadness.
After a few moments, I calm down, staring down at the grave.
"Hopefully, I'll join you... s-soon. I l-love you. Wait for m-me..."
I shakily place down the rose and get up, wiping the tears away with my sleeve.
I chuckle, looking down at the grave, occupied with my thoughts.
Cemeteries are strange when you really think about it.
Walking over the dead.
Weeping over slabs of stone sticking out of the ground.
Although, it's the only memory I have left, it's the only place I can go to remember all the happy times.
When I once thought that my life was amazing, that I had at least one person who cared, who loved me, who gave me warmth.
But that was all in the past.
'You have no one now.
No one loves you. No one cares.
Nothing will ever go right for you.'
I try to snap out of my thoughts, looking up at the sky, seeing the sun was already up, the grey clouds disappearing.
It was probably around 8 AM.
I hurriedly pull my hoodie over my curled messy blonde locks, quickly glancing over at the grave and smiling tiredly, I rush out, running past a young boy with pastel greenish coloured hair.
"Hey kid-" the boy called out to me-
However, without stopping, I continue to run, not sparing a second glance.
Once I see the mansion, I sneak past the guards and go through the maid's and staff entrance.
There's a waft of cinnamon as I walk into the kitchen.
The maid's are all too busy in making breakfast to notice me slipping past.
Soomi, the head of staff, dances from counter to counter, muttering the lyrics to a rap song under her breath, Jimin following her, conducting a symphony with his spatula, both of them in their own worlds.
Jimin raises his head and sends a sneaky wink towards me, whispering "Did everything go alright..?"
I quickly nod, whispering back "Personne ne m'a vu" while giving a quick thumbs up.
Jimin looks around and hurriedly says "Good, now hurry back before anyone notices, nous parlerons plus tard, ok?"
I smile as he ruffles your hair, then I quickly slip past and sneak up the stairs, heading towards my room.
Reaching my hand out for the doorknob, Jungkook suddenly comes out of his room, half-asleep, his brown hair sticking out in every direction.
His eyes widen as he finds me standing there, frozen, my black hoodie and jeans dirty, beaten up muddy trainers, my chest heaving up and down.
He tilts his head to the side and rubs his eyes furiously, looking at me again.
He opens his mouth and I hurriedly whisper out "Y-youuu are dreamingggg~" while moving my hands around slowly.
He raises an eyebrow, and when I realise this won't work, I rapidly swing open my door, sliding in and locking it, not letting him say a single word.
"Wait! Taehyung-" Jungkook says from the other side of the door, knocking.
I ignore him and slump down onto my bed, kicking off my shoes and lowering my hoodie.
After a few seconds, I hear Jungkook leave. I go take a quick shower, changing into an oversized sky blue shirt, with straight white trousers.
Just as I finish drying my hair, I hear another knock on my door.
I cautiously listen and I instantly relax, hearing Jimin's voice whisper out- "Yah- Tae, open up, will you? Am I going to wait all day?"
I giggle as I open the door, seeing his bright smile on his face as always.
"Tae, Mr and Mrs Kim told me to get you to the living room, Mr Jeon's cousin has arrived today," Jimin says, then lowering his voice to a whisper:
"Ugh- more people. Honestly, I'm already fed up with that annoying brat Minjee-"
"Jiminie! Someone could hear you!" You whisper back, although you grin with him.
"Alright, let's just get this over with.." I sigh, he ruffles my hair as I smack his arm away.
I follow him out, knowing there'd be hell to pay if I didn't go greet the guests.
We stop outside the doors and I pause, taking a deep breath.
"Hey, I can come with you if that'll make you feel better?" Jimin speaks softly, instantly noticing the change in mood.
"T-thank you Jiminie.." I murmur gratefully.
