Veterinary Confinement (Part 4)

Vivo had agreed to meet up with his friends at the music shop.

He wasn't exactly looking too forward to today, but he really didn't want to go back home.

He just wanted to get the next couple of days over with until vet day came.

So, he just put on a brave face and went on into the music shop.

He said, "Hey, guys. So what are we doing--"

However, Roxie and Novella suddenly ran up to him in a frenzy.

"Vivo, thank goodness you're here!"

"We need your help! Come on!"

They quickly dragged a slightly confused Vivo to the back of the music shop.

There, they met up with the rest of the pets.

Tiago quickly explained to Vivo, "V! Just the kinkajou I needed to see! Something awful has happened and only you alone can fix it!"

Vivo asked, "What is it?"

Tiago answered, "You see, I promised Rico that I would lay down some new Caribbean-styled tunes for tomorrow night at the Scarlet Macaw! I did all that and saved them on a little CD for the DJ equipment. But...But..."

He showed Vivo a CD...with numerous cracks and scratches.

"This happened!"

Vivo could see why Tiago was upset.

"Jeez, what happened to it? It looks like someone threw it in the garbage disposal."

Charlotte actually answered, "Ooh, are you some kind of kinkajou psychic?"

Vivo blinked before asking, "Uh, so what can I do to help?"

Novella answered, "Well, Vivo, being a talent in music, we were so hoping you might be able to...play some new songs to replace the ones we lost?"

Vivo said, "Sure, no problem. Just let me borrow a guitar and I'll get to it."

Everyone was happy to hear that.

Mostly because that's exactly how they knew that everything was going according to plan.

As everything was getting set up to record the new songs, Roxie quietly said to the others, "Ok, the pilot is in the cockpit, now we just wait until the eagle has landed."

Charlotte asked, "Ooh, we have a pilot here? Is he lost? 'Cause this doesn't look anything like a cockpit."

Vincent sighed, "She means keep him here until you-know-who shows up."

When everything was ready for recording, Vivo was ready on the guitar.

Vincent asked him, "Are you ready to start the music, Vivo?"

Vivo chuckled, "When it comes to music, you don't even need to ask if I'm ready."

However, just before they started, Tiago quickly said, "Hold up!"

Tiago actually had a piece of sheet music on him.

He asked Vivo, "I was thinking that maybe you could maybe start with this one...maybe."

Vivo looked at it.

"Wait...this one of the songs Gabi and I wrote for our show."

Tiago asked, "Really? Huh! What a funny coincidence, yo!"

Vivo skeptically asked, "How did you even get this?"

Tiago shifted his eyes up.

When Gabi and Vivo left the bedroom, Tiago snuck in through the window.

He then ransacked the whole room until he found their songwriting journal.

He then ripped out the sheet music.

***

Tiago answered, "Wrote it from memory."

Vivo just looked at him.

Novella said, "Well, it is no matter how he got it; what does matter is that it is a great song to begin with."

Vivo wasn't sure about this, "Eh, I don't really know if..."

Stella said, "Come on, Vivo. I honestly think that playing this song might do you some good."

Vivo stayed quiet for a moment.

He then agreed with a sigh, "Alright. I'll play it."

Vincent then said, "Well then, take one. And...action."

Vivo immediately started playing the guitar.

Everyone thought it was beautiful.

But as Vivo played, he couldn't help but think about how much fun he had writing this song with Gabi.

In fact, it was one of their favorites.

That being said, Vivo thought it was kind of...lonely playing it by himself.

Although, his friends were sort of hoping for that feeling.

But only because that meant that the next part of their plan would definitely make things alright.

***

Along Duval Street, Gabi and the girls were just taking a walk.

Actually, the girls were mostly leading Gabi along.

They didn't exactly tell her what their plans were for today.

Gabi soon enough asked, "So, uh...where exactly are we going?"

Becky answered, "Oh, nowhere in particular. Just taking a little stroll."

But Becky winked at Sarah and Eva when Gabi wasn't looking.

They weren't just taking a stroll; they did have a destination in mind.

After a while, they found themselves just a few feet away from the music shop.

And just like they had planned, they could hear something from the music shop.

Becky casually asked, "Oh, my. What is that beautiful sound?"

Gabi listened and heard it, too.

It sounded like someone playing the guitar.

However, Gabi noticed that it wasn't just guitar music; someone was playing a song she and Vivo wrote together.

That being said, Gabi suddenly found herself drawn towards it and walked quickly to the shop without saying a word.

When Gabi got inside, she heard the music coming from the back of the shop.

And that was where the pets were.

Most of them saw Gabi coming, which was just what they wanted.

Vivo just continued playing...until he heard a familiar voice.

"Vivo?"

Vivo suddenly stopped in slight surprise.

It was Gabi.

Gabi was just as surprised as he was.

For a while, the two just looked at each other, practically motionless.

And their friends watched on the side, hoping that this next part would go the way they wanted.

The two just continued looking at each other...

Until finally, they quickly ran into each other's arms in a warm hug.

Their friends watched with smiles.

Gabi said to her partner, "I'm so sorry. I wasn't really ok spending the day without you...or the days before that."

Vivo replied, "Neither was I. And I'm sorry, too."

After letting the two have their moment, Stella said, "We know it's hard to say goodbye, even when you know you'll see each other again. But separating now to keep the feelings away won't help."

Vivo couldn't agree more.

With that, Vivo decided he and Gabi should start spending as much time together as they could...starting now.

Vivo went over and got another guitar for her.

Gabi understood.

"Ok, Vivo...1, 2...1, 2, 3!"

Gabi and Vivo both started that same song again and played it together, beginning to end.

🎵I thought of you today

And all the funny ways

You make my day so bright

And it seems that

You were always

On my mind

And it won't be long 'til I see you again

In the meantime

I will miss you my friend

No, it won't be long 'til I see you again

In the meantime

I will miss you

'Til I see you again🎵

***

From that day, they did nothing but spend every moment they could together.

They went to the beach.

They got ice cream.

They went on a boat ride.

They enjoyed the Butterfly Garden.

They even went to a couple of art galleries.

And they did nothing but have fun.

Their friends were right: The best way to deal with a separation is to spend as much time as you can together.

It certainly made Gabi and Vivo feel better now.
